    Crème Cake #1
    Tiffany T.

I hate to give this cake and establishment a review like this but honestly I was very disappointed in my experience with the Tous Les Jour located in HMart on Bellaire. I want to preface and say that I have been to Tous Les Jour in Austin before and I always had great experiences there. When I moved to Houston I was expecting something similar but this location doesn't even compare. To begin, I ordered this cake at least a week ahead of time in person and prepaid for it. I was given a receipt and they also kept a copy and took down my phone number and name. When I came to pick it up, the lady who appeared to be the manager rudely asked for the 4 digit number. At that time, I had forgotten to bring the receipt I was given, but since they kept a copy and I could provide my personal information and show my statements that I already paid I didn't think this would be an issue. We went back and forth and eventually she gave me the cake but while doing so, the whole time I could hear her speak in Korean talking bad about myself. I admit, it wasn't ideal that I left the receipt but I also had multiple ways to show that I ordered this cake and at multiple points she refused to serve it to me. Onto the cake, this was the worst cake I have ever received from Tous Le Jour. The berries on top were clearly old as all of the strawberry's were mushy. I also want to preface that I had placed this cake immediately in the fridge after picking it up. For basically a $50 cake, and to say I ordered this ahead of time, this is extremely disappointing to pay for such poor quality. I see why people in Houston rather support other Asian bakeries like 85. Also, I'm not sure if these pastries and cakes are even prepared on site as there is no physical bakery attached to this location as compared to the other ones I've seen before in Austin. This was definitely my last and final experience with Tous Le Jour here in Houston. Save yourself the money and effort and support other bakeries in the area.

Whenever one comes across a Jollibee's or a Lee's Bakery, it's a legit sign of a Filipino / Vietnamese presence in the community. The same can be said of Koreans and Tous Les Jours (#1), a "French-Asian-Inspired" bakery that started in South Korea in the late 90s and boasts roughly 1,500 locations worldwide. Three of those locations are here in Houston, including this one inside H-Mart in Bellaire Chinatown. (#2) It's located right next to the entrance / exit of H-Mart and is a perfect spot to sit for a quick snack, sip, or even a little WiFi action. It's also a destination for folks not wanting to scour the aisles of the supermarket and is an easy place to sit and people watch. There isn't a ton of seating, but certainly enough for a small group or solo action. The selection, especially in the mornings, is plentiful. There's usually a good variety of buns, cakes, and pre-packaged pastries that make for a nice snack on the go. For more special occasions, they offer a limited number of cakes each day that are moderately sized, but are tastefully decorated. I love that each cake is carefully placed in a box with a cake cutter and candles upon request. The only downside is that they're all pretty pricey. Small cakes are going to be in the $30+ range with slightly larger or elaborate designs ones going over $40. It's a gamble anytime I ask the staff to write any custom messaging on the cakes, since most of my messages have been semi-botched in some way. At the end of the day, a TLJ is sort of a premium version of an in-house grocery store bakery for shoppers at H-Mart. _______________ (#1) French for "Every / Each Day" (#2) And what's even more legit? All of the aforementioned chains are alive and well in Houston. #diverse

I grocery shop at HMart frequently so naturally I stop by TLJ to pick up some pastries every now and then. They have a good selection of assorted pastries. For cakes, I pre-ordered to pickup but to my surprise, they don't actually reserve or bake your cake fresh. They just packed whatever was available in the display section. Bad customer service in my opinion, as cakes could've been sitting there for days. Nonetheless, the ones I got were fairly fresh. The cake itself isn't too crazy sweet and the sponge/cream ratio was just right. I think for the quality of the cake, $43 isn't too bad for 8in.

Tous Les Jours is a South Korean bakery with locations in Asia and the US. I prefer this Bellaire location versus the Blalock location. All of the Houston locations are inside H-Mart. There is also a Katy location that I have yet to visit! This location is spacious, well lit and has a really large refrigerated section. It is more aesthetically pleasing with more options than the original location on Blalock. I highly recommend you try their breads, cakes and pastries! They seem to use higher quality ingredients than other bakeries in Houston. My favorite items I always pick up are the refrigerated puff pastry pastries with various fruits such as strawberries or raspberries. Their croquettes are also really yummy. We just picked up a mocha buttercream cake and everyone really enjoyed it. It was extremely light and not too sweet. The cake also came with a really cute plastic serving knife with matches in it and 5 cute candles!

Nice bakery inside of the H Mart, we enjoyed the baked goods here starting with the strawberry bun, which was soft and had great flavor. Will return to try other items here, and the Japanese cheese cake My oh My and delicious surprise. Great experience!

    Better than three les jours

I prefer 3 Les Jours and 4 Les Jours to 2 Les Jours but that's another story. I find these bakery chains all over the country - often attached to grocery stores but sometimes not - and they all have one thing in common, which is that they seem to be just a little too pricey. Some seem to be pricier than others and this one is particularly expensive. The products are good although some of them are not so good. But the price is prohibitive. Like the other reviewer, I don't like that they throw away so much stuff (often well before closing time) each day, which could be sold half price, quarter price, given away, or better yet, put outside for the homeless. Nope. If they cleaned up this part of their act I'd give them 4. Despite the prices.

What a joke.... Cake size comparisons 1 year apart.

Ordered a birthday cake over the weekend because the birthday boy loves cake from this place. When we got it, I made a comment about how it looks a little small compared to last year... Facebook memories this morning confirmed the attention to detail and the size difference... yeah. What a laughing joke to pay $40 for a single layer cake. Lost a customer that's for sure.

    Macaron selection

Do you know when you meet a cute guy, and then turns out he has a bad personality? Yeah... that's how I felt about these macarons.

Bread is very good, it's soft and the flavors they offer are true to their nature. I loved the melon bread, that one is just about my favorite. The downside is the coffee promotions, they have them all over the place advertising two new coffee flavors but they don't even have the ingredients to make it.

Disgusting!!! Puffs are with mold! We bought a jar of cream puffs from this bakery and found out the puffs were molded right after walking out of store. We went back immediately to show them. They just wanted to change to another jar. After I refused and wanted refund, they said," It was NOT mold. It was BLUE BERRIES." I was sooo shocked! Both their products and their way of lying in front of fact were so disgusting! I can't trust this store at all.

Inside milk bun. Little black speckles are "vanilla bean"
    Rose L.

Upon checking out I gazed towards the right side of the store and saw a chic bright and modern little bakery that caught my attention. I've never really been a fan of Tous Les Jours but I'm a sucker for cute things and their pastries were all too good looking to pass up. I had just ate so my appetite wasn't big and decided to only try 2 buns which I thought were pretty good MILK BUN- saw that vanilla bean was an ingredient listed but I did not taste any however there were speckles of the vanilla bean inside. The bun was I kid you not, the softest and moist bread I ever had in my life. Vanilla flavorings are usually really strong but I did not taste any. It had more of a milky but eggy taste. The texture of the filling was light, not overly sweet and very creamy GREEN TEA SOFT BREAD- the bread itself was too powdery but it was still good. There was a subtle hint of matcha but you could barely taste it. The bread was also really soft. The filling was creamy and buttery I read from another yelper that they throw away their breads at the end of the day so that means fresh bread daily! My only gripe is the price. It is too expensive. $27 for what seems to be like a 6-8in cake and my little bread was $2 each while usually run for $1.25-1.50 at kamalan and six ping The macarons were good, soft and light.. until they gave my family and I the shizzzzz

Always enjoy this bakery. We always get a sweet treat before we leave. Very convenient location get all my groceries and sweets in one place.

#touslesjours has been my favorite korean bakery but today it has changed my mind. This type of action is very unprofessional. There was a lot of people looking and feeling sad, some started to buy so it wouldn't go to waste and others had complaints. After a while people just started to leave and so did I, but I couldn't just walk away so I went back and took picture for everyone to see. I understand this happens everywhere, but do it after hours because it can put a bad image in your business. #food #baking #bakery #unprofessional #wastful #sweets #teen #wecanbebetter

When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. Overall I was impressed with everything they offered here with the exception of the nuts, which I thought were just ok. I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

Also got a bag of chocolates, which are weighed by the pound. The only qualm I have is that the chocolates are not labeled, so when you mix them all together, it truly is a bit of a Russian roulette on what you'll get. Everything was super yummy.
