Six Ping is an Asian bakery chain in Houston that my family and I have been frequenting for years. They have a variety of different baked goods ranging from sweet to savory My favorite is the pandan castella cake. It is super fluffy and sandwiched together by a thin layer of cream. I like their sweet pastries because it is always very light and not too overwhelmingly sweet. I also like their pineapple cames, which pairs well with hot tea. My family also orders the durian cake for special occasions, and it's delicious! Overall, I think Six Ping brings a lot of nostalgia and has a variety of goods for everyone to eat.

The mango carnival cake is my daughter's favorite! It's delicious! Ask for mango and the pudding filling. I like the location, parking is convenient.

Not just great pastries here - tasty gelato and boba too. Worth checking out. Clean and modern place too.

This location they start to sell gelato( ice cream) and milk tea. They are pretty good. I really like their avocado and durian gelato.

Came in right before closing 5:40 pm so selection wasn't full but still got great goodies: pandan coconut bread, almond crispy cookies, pork and chive roll, Taiwanese egg tarts, pineapple cookie. Total for all of this was around $14 and some change. Almond crispy cookies come in a pack of 10, I would definitely get these again! Very crispy and packed with flavor but not overly heavy If that makes sense. The Taiwanese egg tarts are pretty tasty but I would most likely not get these again only bc I prefer egg tarts with a crunchier exterior, however they are very fluffy and filling so with just one your 'egg tart' craving is satisfied. The pineapple cookie is unique - very hard exterior with a super sweet pineapple filling. You can taste the pineapple chunks so that was a plus and the outside of the cookie wasn't too sweet so it was a good balance of flavor. The pandan coconut bread is the only item I would never get again. Compared to other coconut breads I've had this one was extremely dry and flavorless - could hardly taste the coconut and had only a few flakes. The dryness could be bc I got it at the end of the day but even then it was too dry and flavor lacking.

I was excited to learn about Six Ping opened its 4th store. This bakery is located in Saigon Plaza aka Kim Son Plaza, just right outside of Chinatown on the other side of beltway. I have been a fan of Six Ping since I moved to Houston. The art cakes are the biggest attraction, especially during the holidays. My co-workers always requesting me to bring it to the parties. The cake is fluffy, light and flavorful. The toppings are fresh and not as sweet. My favorite pastries are the Hong Kong rolls and cake rolls. The art cakes are so pretty and delicious. They are priced at $33 for a 8-inch cake, $45 for 10-inch cake and $59 for 12-inch cake. You get to choose from 4 cake flavors and up to 2 fillings. The presentation itself wins a lot of wows. It's amazing to know the history as you enjoy the food. According to their website, Six Ping established in 1989 at the Bellaire location, near Jusgo. As we have seen many businesses coming and going during the roadway construction. However, they managed to open 2 more locations: Beechnut (Viet Hoa) and Dun Huang Plaza. I wrote a blog about a crazy relationship of all reviews ended up on one page. That's why I included the location on my review. HQ has not entered this biz listing on the search yet. Please bookmark it. http://iyelpalot.blogspot.com/2015/12/4-six-pings.html

Located in the Kim Son plaza but there are already so many Six Pings in Chinatown like come on. This location doesn't have as much ready to-go cakes as the one in the Dun Huang Plaza. You can see a difference in the quantity of customers in both locations. This one is not as busy but they are fully stocked in their breads and pastries. I do like this location because it's the closest to where I live and the parking is easier to find.

I LOVE their Mango Carnival cake and sad that it's only seasonal. I buy them to eat whether there's an occasion or not because it's that's good! They have a good variety of pastries to choose from also and they're always fresh. I prefer them over 85 degrees. ‍

Vanilla cocktail fruit cake. It was kinda DRIED... I was disappointed.
    Eliza L.

I order an Angry Bird cake for my son birthday party. The cake was kinda dry. I order vanilla cake with fruit cocktail in it. The only reason I order the cake here is because my son wanted an Angry Bird cake. Cake decoration was made perfectly. However, I was not impress with the cake. I combined my daughter and son birthday together. However I had to get separate cakes for them. Luckily my daughter cake came out delicious from elsewhere, Le Duc.

Cute shop! Loved the presentation of the desserts, made me want to get everything! I purchased one of the red bean stuffed breads & the green tea cake. Both were so good!

However, we…read moredecided on Desseire as an Asian-flavored French techniqued bakery sounded like an excellent option. Its in a less trafficked area of Chinatown and sort of tucked away in a corner of the strip mall. It has a casual pick up and go vibe, with display cases of baked goods and a couple options on the counter (dont miss the caneles). The cashier (potentially also the baker) was friendly and was super patient with us as we were making decisions and then noticing a special and adding extra goods (sorry for making you box and unbox so many times!) Anyways, all the baked goods we got were reasonably priced around $3-4. They also have some larger tiramisu options but we didn't grab any this time. I got a canele, a variety of choux, and some cupcakes. I enjoyed the canele and it had a very nice crust but the center wasn't as custardy as some I've had but regardless I enjoyed it and I also rarely see caneles so it was a nice treat. The choux were the winners for me though, filled with various creams (I got mango, pandan, and pistachio). I really liked the choux pastry and found it light and crisp. The filling was also perfect, light, held its texture and didn't spill out as I was eating it, and perfect level of sweetness for me. I also enjoyed flavor of the cupcakes but I did think they were slightly dense. Overall, this was such a great find and glad we stopped by. It may end up becoming one of my staples to have pastries for the week!

We grabbed a few unique desserts: Durian dessert (for the adventurous ) Japanese cheesecake Matcha tiramisu Unfortunately, we had a few more stops to make, so we didn't get to enjoy them fresh -- but here's the breakdown: Durian: Very true to the fruit and surprisingly light. Not my personal favorite, but if you love durian, I'd absolutely recommend trying it here. Japanese Cheesecake: Comparable to Uncle Tetsu, but with a creamier topping that paired really well with the soft, fluffy texture. Matcha Tiramisu: Easily my favorite. It had that rich, bitter, earthy matcha flavor that tells you they're using quality ingredients -- super potent in the best way. Honestly, the matcha tiramisu alone makes me want to come back and try all their other tiramisu flavors. I already recommended this spot to a friend right after!

This store is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall so there is plenty of space for parking. The inside has a good number of seats and tables for customers to sit down and enjoy. There is also an area that has children's books- in both Japanese and English! I was thrilled to see some of the books that I grew up with. The glass display showcases a variety of different pastries and sweets. There is also a separate menu above for sandwiches, crepes, and quiches! I was indecisive so I asked the owner for recommendations and she chose the Mont Blanc and Total Raspberry Tart. Both pastries were perfect- the tart has a raspberry cream on the bottom and the fruit was fresh and naturally sweet. Not to mention, the crust was absolutely delicious. The Mont Blanc was just as tasty. The chestnut puree, Chantilly cream, and crust were all *chef's kiss* And the best part of it all is that the pastries were not too sweet (for those of you who are new to Asian pastries, they are meant to be lighter and not overly sweet)! While my friend and I were enjoying the pastries, I was able to have a brief conversation with the owner and she was incredibly welcoming and kind.
