Located a few blocks from the cathedral in the Gòtic area. Small place that sits maybe 25-30 people. There are seated standard tables, high top tables and seating at bar. First come first serve and hap hazard seating. Food is good. We had the prawns, empanadas, chicken skewers, melted provolone, a salad, grilled steak, seared ahi tuna. and the pork dumplings. All were tapas and meant for sharing. My favorite was the pork dumplings and ahi which were delicious. My wife's favorite was the melted provolone with garlic crusted bread. The salad had a dense and slightly sweetens balsamic reduction which was nice. I forced myself to eat all the prawns as wife doesn't eat this along with a plate of seared ahi tuna and kid was not hungry at 9:30 pm (we fed her on the way there as she just wanted a bean and cheese burrito for comfort food after 3 weeks of traveling with her mom). The chicken skewers would have been highly rated if we didn't have it brought last. I would skip the steak. It sounds good on the menu to diversify but just doesn't work at this place. A bottle of wine during dinner was nice. The ice cream was a nice close along with a dessert drink for wife and coffee for me. The prices are very reasonable as it includes tip and tax. The wine is very reasonably priced. Service was the limitation for me and family. When we arrived we had an 8 year old kid at 9:30 and offered a high top table. We stated we were fine with waiting for a standard table and start at the bar. Service member said but we are full. There were clearly 3 tables literally leaving. We went to bar and told our high top was in back. I replied can we just have drinks at bar they said ok. When tables cleared literally with 5 minutes even before bottle of wine could be open we asked if we could get a table if one becomes open (no one else around waiting in bar or outside). They stated that it would be fine. In conclusion this is a nice place with several items worth a stop if you can be efficiently seated. Prices very reasonable and comparable to all other similar tapas places through out Barcelona. Nothing unique other than location. read more

Tosca has great options for your dining meal. Tonight my wife and I had the shrimp pictured below. It gets messy on the hands but worth the extra work. We also selected the potato's, meatballs, and sirloin steak. For desert we had the delicious brownie and ice cream pictured below. The service was really attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, the couple next to us were eating the garnished shrimp and splashed the shrimp contents on our table and it got on my wife dress. The couple knew but did not offer an apology rather just laugh. When you're level headed you don't let other people's childish actions affect your dinner with your beautiful wife. We had reservations at another spot, planning a celebratory dinner we had notified them of in advance. Can't explain why, but we were seated at the most poorly located table in a near empty restaurant. After a review of their menu options and prices, and not digging the ambience at all, we got our phones out to find an alternative restaurant. So happy we did, as we found Tosca just a few blocks away. Very friendly staff welcomed and seated us, and promptly took and delivered our drink order. The place was bustling with families and couples and really had a great vibe. We ordered a handful of tapas, all of which we were super happy with, in quantity, quality & price. Sangria was delicious! The place was pretty crowded and loud, but to be expected as a show had just gotten out at the Palau de la Música Catalana right across the street. Such a delicious dinner! We ordered the garlic shrimp which was finger licking. Every table had an order of it so it's a must try here. Wasn't the biggest fan of the white sangria. Visited this place on my travels to Barcelona & trying to find a tapas restaurant with good reviews and my adventures led me here. The location is quite nice as its located right in the gothic quarters, surrounded by beautiful architecture. The restaurant itself wasnt super packed, but there was a good handful of people during a normal dinner time (7:45pm). The lighting & music gave the place a nice relaxed, semi-bougie vibe. The pricing wasnt anything outlandish for its location (heavy foot traffic tourist area) but the quality of food was definitely up to par. Not the best I've had, but not the worst, above average. Even though all the other reviews are raving about the potatoes being amazing, i saw nothing special about em. The almond cream meatballs were something I'd recommend trying. Everything else didnt really WOW me, but it was well done none the less. If you're looking for a tapas spot and you're in the area, I'd check this spot out! The drinks are reasonably priced as well. This was a nicer place for a pretty decent price. The inside of the restaurant had a classy vibe and the presentation of the food was beautiful. They also had English menus and waiters that spoke English, which was super helpful for our group of Americans. We each got 2 dishes each and were satisfied with what we ordered. I got the goat cheese salad and the chorizo with chimichurri. The salad was super fresh and the goat cheese round was grilled and placed on top. The chorizo was also delicious especially with the chimichurri sauce. I would want to come back and try some of the other options because everything seemed great. The salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked with a light sauce. For 7,40 Euro, I found it quite a steal to have salmon like that. The house salad was made with avocados, sundried tomatoes, aged balsamic, honey mustard, and a spring mix which was also very good. This is a really small, cozy restaurant in downtown Barcelona. My boyfriend and I were seated right away around 8:30 on a Thursday evening. The staff was really friendly and continually checked up on us without being pushy. I wouldn't call the cuisine classic Spanish, but it is tapas/shareable with a good variety of options. We had the spring rolls stuffed with Asian vegetables, mini lasagna, strips of sirloin with herb and mushroom sauce and provolone cheese with chimichurri and sun dried tomatoes. Everything was really good but my favorite was the sirloin and cheese. The sirloin was medium rare (just the way I like it, not so much for my boyfriend), with a really tasty sauce. It was super tender and delish. It was pretty small but typical size for tapas. The cheese was really good. It was literally just cheese with tomatoes and chimichurri sauce, served with perfectly crispy bread. So simple but so yummy. The lasagna was interesting and not my favorite. The walnuts in it were a little weird to me. The spring rolls were good but nothing special. I wanted to try the prawns but after looking at pictures on Yelp, I wasn't thrilled to see that they were completely shelled, so we passed on those. read more

I have NO idea why the ratings are for this place are so high. The food was terrible only to be outdone by the rude and nonexistent service. The server barely greeted us with a scowl and literally snatched the menu out of my friends hand because "they were no longer serving cocktails." A starter which ended up being charcuterie and a mixed platter that had no description other than "mixed platter" that ended up being more charcuterie. This was our favorite tapas restaurant in Barcelona! Most restaurants do not serve dinner until 9pm but we were so lucky to find this place open while we were hungry at 7pm. I like how this place is open early without being too touristy, and the food is still amazing! We came here 3 nights in a row which tells you how much we loved the place. The restaurant has a hip, trendy vibe with plenty of drinks and tasty tapas to choose from on the menu. My friend and I came here around 7-8pm and we never had to wait for a table, so there is usually plenty of seating. Everything we ordered on the menu was delicious and very flavorful. I've tried the goat cheese salad, the grilled prawns with garlic and parsley (my absolute favorite), patatas bravas (potatoes), jamon iberico with bread, sirloin steak, and sundried tomatoes and anchovies. The prawns tasted very fresh and they were so good that we ate everything including the shells! I still dream about the food even as I'm writing this review. We also paired our meal with a nice glass of bubbly pink cava. The servers here are friendly and can speak English, and the menus are bilingual. We were wrong and there was a short wait for seating. We decided to talk a walk and come back later. It was easier to get seated right away at 10 pm. Nothing beats the location. Right across my fav building - palace of catalan music; it is in a 'touristy' spot. They cater to tourists and have menus available in english too. The restaurant has soft lights with cozy ambience. It was lively and full on a Tuesday night but service was prompt. We had olives tapas along with patata bravas and vegetarian empanadas. Everything was great. My husband loved the olives and the empanadas were really good. Patatas bravas was good too but not the best. Cava was good too.
