now one of my top favorite new york restaurants! torrisi is one of those places that people say is genuinely not overrated - couldn't agree more. getting a reservation is very difficult but so worth it. heard that it takes about 3 hours to wait in line for walk in (and you can't walk leave the line). cucumbers new yorkese - blew my mind. such a clean and fresh dish, with just the crunchy part. the best cucumbers i've ever had in my life!! tortellini - soft and pillowy with perfect acidity from the sauce. i wanted to eat 3 of these dishes. american ham with zeppole - i don't love the texture of these meats usually but this was perfection. the pineapple was so unique! duck - my least favorite thing on the menu but still good. my mom loved it! date cake - i've never had a date cake before! i don't like dates generally but this cake was delicious. the colorful dollops were flavorful and fun. cookies - we got one of each that was offered! the rainbow cookie and the raspberry milano were my favorites, but each was so good. i would come back here just for the cookies. i just made a reservation to come back here next month and i am so excited!!! read more

Great experience and very good service! My friend and I came for lunch and we were treated so well from start to finish. We ordered two dishes to share, the tortellini pomodoro and the cavatelli with Jamaican beef Ragu. Both dishes were incredible, the pasta itself tasted so fresh. The tortellini pomodoro was delicious and I loved the sauce. The beef Ragu in the cavatelli was really flavorful and had a good spice to it. I loved the pasta in it as well. We were also given bread and butter at the beginning which was so soft and fresh. It was impeccable service throughout and the vibe inside was great. Reservations are nearly impossible to get here - my husband tried for weeks. The only thing he could find online was a table for 4 at 10:45pm. He read online that if we arrived at 4pm, we should be able to get into the first seating at the bar. We arrived at 3:53pm on Monday of President's Day weekend - 6 parties ahead of us. This worked out great, we got the 7pm seating (which you can request if you want). The hostess starts going down the line at around 4:30pm, so you'll know your fate for the evening. Also, FYI only parties of 1-2 allowed for walking in at the bar. They started turning on the hip hop music at 4:40pm. We put our names down around 5:10pm, for the bar's second seating. By 6:08pm, I already received a text that our table was ready! What's the hype about really? A cool Italian restaurant with dishes that are a nod to the different neighborhoods and cuisines surrounding Nolita where the restaurant is located. Some of these dishes are quite creative and you would not be able to find anywhere else. Also, a restaurant on "100 Best Restaurants in NYC in 2025" and also part of the restaurant from creators of Carbone. Also, reservations that are nearly impossible to score. We just were dying to try it, it had to be THAT good. We ordered the Tomato Martini, House Endive Salad, the Cavatelli with Jamaican Beef Ragu, the Tortellini Pomodoro, the Linguini in 15 Pink Littleneck Clams, the Duck Alla Mulberry, and the Almond Cheesecake. My Tomato Martini was decent, but nothing super exciting. The House endive salad was good, but nothing particular special or memorable. We did order that dish specifically to get some greens in. The Cavatelli with Jamaican Beef Ragu was an interesting dish - it was spicy, with the Jamaican spices. It was beef but tased quite gamey. It sounds interesting, and I see what they wanted to do with the dish, but I just didn't care for it. The linguini with clams pasta was very good, and executed very well. However, it tasted like anything I could have gotten at another Italian restaurant. I just didn't see the creativity in this dish. The Tortellini Pomodoro was recommended by our waitress when we had asked her to suggest a 3rd pasta for us to share. She said this was the most popular pasta on the menu. The tomato sauce was acidic, sweet, and delicious. The tortellinis tasted like little pillows of happiness. This was executed very well, but also I felt I could order this at another Italian restaurant. We were almost losing hope by this point. But we were still waiting for the Duck Alla Mullberry. BUT wow! This dish blew our minds!!!! The duck was great quality, and had a nice fatiness to it. The mulberry sauce tasted similarly to a hoisin sauce, a nod to the Chinese cuisine. The duck sauce on other side, and orange zest on top, added an extra layer of juiciness and richness, that made it taste like the French dish Duck L'orange. It was such a delightful flavor bomb in my mouth. Our waitress asked about our duck, and we explained how wonderful it was, but also told her we were kind of disappointed in the pastas. Nothing was bad per se, but nothing seemed warranting of an hour+ wait in line outside. She apologized to us. For dessert, we ordered the Almond Cheesecake. They also surprised us with a complimentary Affogato! The cheesecake was good, but I felt could have been enhanced with some other flavor besides almond to make the dish pop. It just felt like the almond flavor got lost. The Affogato on the other hand, was unforgettable. It had this ice crumble on the top, underneath hiding was the vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge. Each bite gets all 3 layers - huge yum! For those wanting a comparison to Carbone, I think the pastas are about the same as what you can get at Carbone. In some dishes, the pastas I think are probably a little better at Carbone. Also the fact that we were able to obtain a reservation at Carbone made a huge difference. Ambiance and scene here overall is fun. The dining room is cute, with exposed brick, but a lot of modern touches, to make it feel like old and new NYC all in one. It's an open dining room, open kitchen, as opposed to Carbone, where it's sectioned off into rooms. I enjoyed the lighting behind the bar, warm and with a glamorous feel. The service was very professional and helpful. We did wait a while for some of our dishes though, such as the pastas, and the duck took a long time, considering that they gave us a 1.5 hour time block for sitting at the bar (although they did not kick us out). Overall, the restaurant was good. Was the food good? Yes, but nothing really special. Was it with the hype? Probably not. Was it worth going to? Yes! Would I go back? No Hospitality was amazing though. They really took care of us, and I really appreciated the experience overall. TORTELLINI -- 3/5 I know this is the dish everyone talks about, but for me it was just okay. It leaned a bit too cheesy and heavy for my personal taste. That said, if you love rich, decadent, ultra-cheesy pasta, you'd probably enjoy it a lot. CHICKEN -- 5/5 The chicken lived up to its reputation. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat itself was juicy and not dry at all, definitely one of the highlights. CUCUMBERS -- 5/5 My favorite dish of the night was surprisingly the cucumber salad. It was dressed beautifully, super refreshing, tangy, and packed with dill flavor. Simple but executed really well. Came here on a Wednesday night and boy are we glad that we did. From the moment we entered until we left, we were greeted with amazing service. The ambience of this place is incredible. Sure a lot of these places get a lot of hype, but the ones that live up and far exceed expectations are the ones that deserve a special kudos. We got the American Ham with Zeppole, Japanese mackerel, Rigatoni with lamb, Chicken Alla Griglia and the special that night was the rotisserie lamb with flag sauce. They start off with incredible bread and even better butter. The tortellini was the absolute perfect texture. Was able to dine here on a Tuesday evening due to another party's last minute cancellation. Reservations are notoriously hard to get at Torrisi so we were very happy to finally get a chance to eat here. We ordered the Tortellini Pomodoro, Raviolini with blue prawns and saffron, their lamb special, as well as their affogato. Everything was delicious but the Tortellini and the affogato stood out to me. The Tortellini sounded like a simple dish but was executed well and the affogato was different than any other affogato I have had in the past, almost felt like I was biting into a tiramisu. I had a perfect week. Barry's Monday, Forma Tuesday, SLT Wednesday, a private Pilates Thursday that Reilly's mother paid for because she Venmos Reilly a monthly "wellness stipend" that is really just hush money for not telling her father about the Bergdorf account, and hot yoga Friday where I sweat out a man named Colin whom I have not yet fully processed. A barista on Spring Street even complimented my Khaite skirt unprompted, which is basically a Pulitzer for getting dressed. I made my own coffee one morning. At home. It was not good. But it got me thinking about how we tip for coffee now. The guilt interface on those iPad screens was engineered by someone who studied behavioral economics at a school I probably rejected a man from. I do it anyway. For the thrill. So obviously Reilly and I decided the only appropriate reward was a Resy reservation that takes longer to secure than her mother takes to accept her daughter will never marry a cardiologist. Torrisi. Puck Building. Michelin star. Vaulted ceilings. Pressed linens. Waiters in dinner jackets. Athletic wear is prohibited, as was caloric math and any mention of Reilly's mother's opinion on carbohydrates, which she once described at brunch in Locust Valley as "the enemy of bone structure." We were seated. And then our waiter arrived. Dark hair. Jaw. Forearms. He set down the bread, said his name was Marco, and told us, "Take your time, I'll be here all night." Reilly grabbed my knee under the table so hard I thought she was going to tear my tights. We looked at each other the way we look at estate jewelry--breathless, calculating, figuring out what it would take to bring it home. I asked for a wine recommendation. "What do you have open at home?" He didn't miss a beat. "I never leave a bottle behind. My mother always said it goes bad if you don't finish it." I already knew he was raised well. "What would you drink if you were sitting here with us?" He looked at the list, then at me. "Barolo." Then the tortellini pomodoro arrived. We hadn't ordered food yet. Marco smiled. "On the house. It's my favorite." Before he could set the plate down Reilly sputtered, "We'll also have the penne with chanterelles, and the duck alla Mulberry." He walked away and I watched him go, which I will not elaborate on. "Reilly. I don't eat duck." She was three bites deep. "It was the heaviest thing on the menu. I need to see him carry something with both arms. This is research." The duck arrived and Marco placed it down with exactly the controlled, full-arm extension Reilly had been engineering all evening. Every twelve minutes he returned with a new dish and eye contact. Every plate tightened our Khaite belts and we did not care. Reilly asked where he was from. Calabria. She asked if he missed it. "Only the sea." She said, "We have a house in Sardinia," which is a lie--her mother has a house in Sardinia that Reilly is allowed to use two weeks a year if she brings "a suitable guest." The check came. I thought about the barista on Spring Street. The iPad. Two dollars for a pressed button. How I felt nothing. Now I was staring at a four-figure bill deciding what percentage says "please text me" versus what percentage says "we run this." Tipping fifty at Torrisi isn't generosity, it's leverage. Reilly's mother tipped fifty at La Grenouille in 1991 and the maître d' remembered her for a decade. That wasn't charm. That was a power move in Chanel. Tonight we left our number not because we needed Marco to call but because we wanted him to know we chose him. The men on Hinge wait to be chosen. We choose, we pay, we leave. This experience was truly a show. The interior is gorgeous. It's one of those places where even if you're running nonstop all day, you walk in here and immediately take a deep breath and melt into the booth. The waiters made us feel like we were the most important people in the room. They are so playful with flavors, every dish felt so original. I had their tomato martini and the flavor profile was truly mind blowing. I have to come to terms with the fact that I'll never have a martini like this again. The endive salad had a complexity that had an initial fruity/tart profile evolving into a more of a herbaceous finish. The pasta dishes were so comforting. The Jamaican beef ragu was tender and warm. I'll be dreaming about this affogato for the foreseeable future with a slush type coffee on top of a layer of fudge and ice cream. I had a very bad experience at Torrisi on Saturday 3/28/26. I was coming from a performance at The Public Theater. It was very cold that week. I was in my puffer coat, gloves, and a beanie cap. When I checked the address, I saw that they have a Michelin Star. I wondered if my (pristine) orange tennis shoes and (nice) black jeans would be a problem. I thought, "they will tell me if they have a dress code." When I got to Torrisi and started up the steps to the restaurant, a man came out and stopped me on the second step. He blocked me from entering. I was told there was no room at the bar, Feeling something was "off", I said, "It's only 10, what if I wait" (They are open til 11:30). He said, "We never know how long people will take to eat", and continued blocking me. Then a man came down in a suit, and asked,"how are you tonight?" Thinking back, I wonder if that was a manager. I never argued or raised my voice with them. I called the restaurant the next day to talk to a manager. When you call, you can not talk to a person. When I wrote that I wanted to talk to a manager, they wrote back that I should write them my experience. I did and what I got back from the Head of Guest Services was a policy of not letting anyone into the restaurant without a reservation. I am no stranger to fine dining restaurants. I was taken aback by being blocked with no smile and not the faintest hint of hospitality. I have been turned away because of capacity multiple times. That's NOT what happened at Torrisi. I was profiled that I was not deserving of walking through the front door and never explained what it would take to actually enter the restaurant. This was handled so badly. The message at Torrisi was --We don't want you here. Leave and don't cause trouble. The message from the Head of Guest Services for the corporation was, "Sorry if that was not communicated properly." I don't need to talk to you. The fact that the Head of Guest Services had zero interest in adding a warm voice to this very cold interaction speaks to the values of this company. Look them up. I was not cool and they told me that it'd be at least a 1 hour wait (I came around 9PM). 10PM eating time? Yeah, that wasn't cool with me even with my west coast stomach. So I came again the next day, during lunch hoping that I would do better. I came before opening and got in! The really cool part about the bar is just chit chatting. I sat next to another solo diner and we just shared our dishes so I ended up trying a bunch of stuff: -Charred Clam Boule: this was okay, I can see why people like it but I would have opted for something else. An immaculate dining experience! we walked in for lunch at around 12 PM on a Friday and it was easy to get a seat at the bar. there an attention to detail, right from when you walk in with the hostess, taking your jacket to leading to your seat. The server that we had was attentive, funny, and relatable. The food: The tortellini was our FAVORITE. It will definitely be in your dreams and was my standout dish. The sauce was perfect, the tortellini was plumped up with the most creamy filling. next, you must absolutely not skip the avocado for dessert. The presentation was phenomenal, and the fudge paired with the ice cream was absolutely a perfect combination. This dessert actually made me gasp because of how good the flavors worked together. The cavatelli had a very apparent pepper taste, which our server warned us about but it gave us a good amount of spice and flavor. and don't even get me started on the bread + butter that they serve to each table. I've been dreaming of trying Torrisi for several years and have been unable to get a table via Resy. My (now) husband, and I lined up for bar seats around 4pm on a Monday. We were first in line but ultimately even those who arrived around 4:40pm on that specific day were able to be seated on that first round. Although long and cold, the wait was well worth it. When we were checked in, they offered us a table that was free which was perfect now that we were celebrating our civil wedding that day and a table offered a much more intimate experience than the bar for walk-ins. The restaurant is absolutely stunning inside: the high vaulted ceilings, moody lighting, exposed brick, velvet curtains-- give off a feeling of grandness with a touch of industrial familiarity. Quite reminiscent of NYC. Our waiter was incredible. He was super attentive of us and made us feel very special on this occasion. We started off with two glasses of Prosecco which were perfectly cold and refreshing. He also brought out some delicious complimentary sesame crusted bread with this divine oregano butter that was soft and salted. For food we shared: - Octopus Nha Trang: one of the best octopus dishes I've had in the city. The octopus was char grilled to perfection, it had a nice crispy skin, and the most tender inside. This was accompanied by Vietnamese inspired herbs and chilies, giving a nice punch through the predominantly rich and umami sauce. Bright, but also decadent. Absolutely stellar flavor profile and complexity. Definitely an underrated appetizer here! Highly recommend if you are an octopus lover. - Tortellini Pomodoro: I obviously had incredibly high expectations for this dish but it was the one that I was least impressed by. Yes, the tortellini are basically delicious creamy, cheesy pillows over this fresh tomato sauce, with hints of basil that are very reminiscent of a Margherita slice. It's definitely a very bright and universally beloved dish. That being said, the dish lacked a bit of texture for me--the pasta was not quite cooked al dente. Even though the flavor was really good, I would likely skip next time and try another one of their pasta dishes with a more punchy/ interesting flavor. Worth trying once but I think it may be slightly overrated. - Chicken Alla Griglia: show. stopper. I was not sure what to expect but this dish truly blew my mind away. The chicken had the crispiest skin possible and the juiciest inside. The flavor was umami, and a bit tangy. It came over this rich, and slightly creamy mushroom sauce that complemented the chicken beautifully. You have to order this if you come! I do not kid, this was the best grilled chicken I have had in my life. - Duck Alla Mulberry: another absolutely stellar dish. I thought I liked the chicken better at first but, the more bites I took of the duck, the more I loved it. It almost felt like I was slowly falling in love and discovering new flavors/ notes within just one dish. The duck was cooked perfectly, was lean and tender, and had a nice layer of fat underneath the crispy skin. The sauce was sweet but also a bit sour and had hints of orange, and a very subtle hint of what tasted like wasabi. It was umami, it was sweet, it had the texture elements, the richness, and uniqueness--it was bold but also absolute perfection. It came with a side of chard which also complemented the duck nicely. I would come back just for this!! - Affogato: our waiter highly recommended this even though I was heavily leaning towards the almond cheesecake. I've never been happier someone changed my mind. This dessert was so good and the perfect way to end our meal. It has the optimal level of sweetness and richness. The cold and creamy vanilla gelato base, topped with an airy layer of mascarpone for more depth of flavor, followed by this decadent, chewy fudge, and then topped with coffee granita which added both a granularity from the ice crystals and very subtle coffee flavor that was refreshing and not overpowering. Truly more like a hybrid between sundae and a tiramisu than an affogato but delicious nonetheless. Overall, I understand the hype behind this place now. Not only do they have the impeccable, warm service, and spectacular/ grand ambiance, but also all their dishes were excellently executed leaving a culinary memory that lasts. The menu staples are amazing so I'm curious to (hopefully) return in the future and get a chance to try some of their daily specials as well. I really wish it weren't so difficult to get a reservation and wish I had a chance here to come more frequently without having to line up for an hour to get in...TLDR if you have connections and are reading this, please hit me up ;) It was truly such a perfect dinner to celebrate a very special occasion and I will hold the memory of this experience fondly for the rest of my life. Heads up: if you're dining solo, they'll only seat you at the bar. But honestly, it was a great experience! The bartenders were super friendly and attentive, and service overall was good. So fresh, and the mustard seed dressing was packed with flavor. Highly recommend. Now the star of the show: the tortellini. Hands down the best I've ever had. That's a bold statement, I know, but it's true. The pasta was pillowy soft, the filling was rich and flavorful, and the sauce tied it all together perfectly. I wouldn't change a thing about it. They ended the meal with a little lemon icee (nice touch, though it was very lemony) and surprised me with a complimentary slice of rainbow cake which was really good! I'm very happy to have had the chance to dine here. Service was impeccable and the best part of the experience. And it wasn't just being nice and friendly; it was personalized. (For instance i noticed out of the corner of my eye when a server brought out the dessert, our main server stopped the guy because it didn't include a. candle) We loved complimentary bread.. so good! Most of the dishes were great and were ones I'd recommend, although there were a few dishes that were perhaps not to my palate (namely the pasta with Jamaican ragu which had a strong peppery taste. The lobster in the lobster pasta tasted great, but the pasta itself was garlicky and oily, and lacking any other flavor). My favorite dish of the meal was in fact the entree we ordered which was the the grilled chicken; I've never tasted a chicken that delicate before! Only downside was it was $44 for one piece of chicken that was cut into 4 small pieces. The restaurant is in a beautiful space as well. Really large dining area in the back. We walked in during the middle of lunch service, put our bid down, and figured we wouldn't be able to get seats as the bar and the tables were stuffed to the full on a nice Friday noon. Little did we know, they texted us 10 minutes later to let us know a table opened up. We scarfed down a nice tower of ice cream we had just gotten and sat down at the edge of the dining room floor. The ambiance is what you'd expect of a nice restaurant in NYC. There's quite a bit of glitz and glamor, charm of the Gilded Age combined with sensibilities of midcentury modern furnishings. I knew of Torrisi but had not seen too many pictures and videos of the establishment. So I was happy to find that we were in decent view of the open kitchen and could peep the chefs putting finishing touches before the pass. I did get a NA cocktail, the Spritz Italiano, which was presented beautifully and served as a lovely bitter refresher between each bite. The server started us off with sesame crusted sourdough bread with oregano butter that was drizzled with olive oil. While I don't love oregano, I loved the tang and the moist chewiness of the bread and grew to love the butter and olive oil combo. Our appetizer, thinly sliced American ham with zeppole, came out soon after. The puffy and eggy zeppole with a little bit of marmalade and thin sliver of ham all together was a surprising combo. It did feel more like a dessert than an appetizer, but I love a sweet and salty treat. We just ordered pastas for our meal. My brother had the famous tortellini pomodoro, and I felt it was the best dish of the day. The tomato sauce was just perfect. I had the cavatelli with Jamaican beef regu. The sauce was a little heavier than I had anticipated. Before ordering, I was warned that it was a little "spicy" and I assume it was in reference to the generous amount of ginger and pepper spice, but it was well-spiced and not "spicy" in my books. But because of the beef fat and a slightly heavy salting, the sauce felt a little on the dense and overpowering side for me. The cavatelli pasta is such an interesting shape and a delightful texture and flavor, so I wished that the sauce was a little more complementary to the uniqueness of the pasta. We were happy to find that though we did not order any dessert, there was a bit of sweet rainbow cookie bites and sorbet to end the meal. I really loved the rainbow cookie and thought it did not contain raspberry jam as I'm used to having, I did not miss its loss as the fragrant almond flavor had been more pronounced as a result. The lemon sorbet was a nice sharp and tangy refresher as I prepared to launch myself back into the dusty and sweaty streets. Overall, the ambiance is wonderful but not pretentious at Torrisi. It's a bit of meal and a show with the open kitchen and the vibrant bar. The food seems to cater to both the foodie adventurers and the comfort-seekers. read more

Torrisi did not disappoint! We got in line around 4pm on a Friday and got seated at the bar about 20 minutes after the doors opened at 5pm. If you're planning to do this, it's worth noting that we went the day after Christmas and it was snowing while we waited outside for an hour plus lol. My husband wanted to try all the pastas so that's what we did! We ordered all except the lobster one. You really can't go wrong. I chose Torrisi to celebrate my birthday and we got a few dishes to share: pulpo (SO tender and flavorful), American ham with zeppole (not Iberian ham but it was still very good), tortellini pomodoro (literally the best tortellinis I've tried - so soft, creamy and light), and the cavatellini tithe Jamaican beef ragu (amazing combination of flavors). Went back to Torrisi after several years and it's gotten even better. Service was A+ and the food remains outstanding. The Duck, Ham, Tortellini and Affogato remain standouts. I've been dying to go to Torrisi for the longest time, and YES -- your girl finally scored a resy! Was it worth the hype? Hell yeah!!! The front section is reserved for walk-ins, but we had a reservation and got right in. Starting off strong with the American ham and zeppole. You're supposed to cut the zeppole in half, fill it with their homemade pineapple jam, then wrap it with prosciutto. ODD but the combo worked so well! Next up was the charred clam boule, which came served on half of an English muffin (maybe?). Either way, they were generous with the clams and the flavor was amazing. I LOOOVE pasta, so of course I had to try three of them. My favorite was the raviolini with prawns and saffron. So good! Shrimp overload! The raviolini had this cute dumpling shape and was filled with more shrimp. Loved it! The linguini in Manhattan clam sauce was also really good -- a little too salty but delicious! The cavatelli with Jamaican beef ragu was my least favorite. It had a bit of a kick, but the ragu reminded me of lamb and just wasn't for me. They surprised us with complimentary icees: one lemon and one peach. Super refreshing and not too sweet. Then came a little cookie box, also complimentary. The sesame cracker was CRACK -- perfectly crunchy without breaking your teeth. We also ordered the affogato. It was layered with ice cream, hot fudge, and espresso poured over. The ice in it threw me off a bit, but overall still enjoyable. Only downside? It was hot in there. The AC was broken and we were originally seated near the open kitchen, which was way too HOT. Luckily, they were able to move us to a cooler table. Even with that, service was amazing! Super attentive and kind the whole night. 10/10! Highly recommend and I'd 100% come back. I was so excited to finally try Torrisi for my birthday this year and I'm not exactly sure how to feel after experiencing it. I feel as though this place is extremely overrated when it comes to the food and the hype. In terms of Italian food, I've had 1 million better pastas in the city for an absolute fraction of the cost, and without the hassle of the reservation. We ordered all of the most expensive things on the menu, including the specials and the Wagyu and the truffle aged pasta, and it was all extremely average. I will say this service and attention to detail and ambience were lovely. I really did enjoy that aspect and don't want to discredit that but at the end of the day, our bill was $1000 for two people and the food was beyond average. I will not be back other than for drinks. I think the servers are nice but again for $1000 and the fact that I ordered all of the top things on the menu I was expecting a lot more. read more

I'm usually a skeptic of Italian restaurants, especially fancy ones. However, this spot really exceeded my expectations! We had an early reservation, and they were able to seat us in the middle of the dining area. This place isn't quiet any means so keep that in mind if you're looking for something more intimate. We got all the items to share, and started off with the zeppole. This was definitely one of my top items of the night - I genuinely have never eaten anything like it but it was so so good! The fried warm dough with the salty proscuitto and sweet jam somehow came together in the most perfect way imaginable. Their complementary bread was also delicious with a nice sesame seed crust and soft springy sourdough middle. We also got the octopus to start, which was probably some of the best octopus of my life - it was so flavorful and tender, and the giant caramelized onions paired with it so well! Onto the pastas - not going to lie, I still feel like fancy pasta is never worth it. We got the cavatelli, tortellini, and clam linguine. None really stood out to me, and this part was probably the least impressive. The ragu really tasted like lamb to me (which I don't love) despite it being beef. Onto the mains, these really impressed me! The chicken was incredible - it was so tender and juicy but still had a thin crispy skin and the sauce that paired with it was absolutely delicious. We also got the duck which had its own crispy flavorful skin, tender meat, and yummy greens and sauce. Definitely recommend both these dishes. Finally, we got the affogato for dessert which was very unique since it was shaved ice. I liked it, but didn't think it was too crazy good. They also gave us some cookies to sample on the house, all of which were really yummy! I would say I can definitely see why this place has a Michelin star. Finally cracked getting into Torrisi - it actually is difficult but has some options - the walk in bar is totally doable especially when lined up early enough and late dinner reservations tend to pop up as well as lunch although the menu doesn't include some highlights like duck. The restaurant had nice, comfortable seating with lively vibes but not too loud and still felt fairly intimate among tables. The staff were fantastic in super helpful in selecting dishes and drinks. The menus were quite extensive with a lot of shareable dishes. We went with the cavatelli, tortellini, duck, asparagus and potatoes. I'd say this is the best pasta I've had in NYC so far, haven't been to every notable place but for me best heavy hitters like I sodi, via carota, Lilia/misi. The pasta just had this unique texture between Al dente and soft and the sauce just had so much flavor. The duck was cooked so juicy and tender while having a crispy skin. The sauces paired very well, they added a bit of sweet and sour balance. The spinach and potatoes were solid starters. For dessert we got the almond cheesecake - so sweet and rich with cream and solid graham base, very yummy. We were then presented with cookies to select from. It is style over substance at this wildly popular Italian-ish spot. The restaurant is situated in the iconic Puck building. The space itself is gorgeous and chic with trendy rich green and gold accents. The view of the open kitchen lends that feel of being in a Michelin starred establishment. The service was good but the list of specials was so long and overexplained especially given most were simple pastas at the end of the day. In general the food was quite basic which just makes the small portions and price tag hard to justify. I can recommend the American Ham with Zeppole with those freshly fried donuts and bright chutney. For pasta we were disappointed with both the tortellini pomodoro (7 bland dumplings) and cavatelli with Jamaican ragu (off putting level of spice for an overly rich sauce). I know the Dover Sole is popular but the texture was so rubbery in a very unsettling way. The best dish was the duck - well executed with crispy skin and excellent flavor. We did not like dessert at all. I also had a dirty martini or two which were mixed very well but I have to say serving an "extra dirty" martini with literally one olive is a red flag. Overall, if you have been having trouble getting a reservation you can feel comfortable skipping Torrisi. read more

Not worth the hype, or the $40. I had the tortellini pomodoro at lunch. The sauce was nice and bright with a touch of sweetness. But the pasta was pretty overcooked, and the filling could've used a bit more going on than just cheese. The complimentary petit fours at the end adds back a star. The lemon granita was refreshing and just a little creamy, and the almond cake was subtle and not too sweet. The bread served alongside was also pretty much perfect. Airy crumb, subtle tang, and a delicious butter, flaky salt, and olive oil spread. Being a step more expensive than the West Village spots, I'd hope for a step up in quality as well, but that's unfortunately not the case with the pasta. After snagging a last-minute reservation for Torrisi, I'm happy to report that it totally deserves the hype. Would definitely come back - either on my own to order the tortellini and clam boule for myself OR with a group of 4+ to enjoy more dishes! The interior is beautiful and the food was amazing. We started off with the sourdough and butter which was just so warm and perfect on a cold day. For just 2 people, we may have overordered - the Italian & American Hams with Zeppole, the Charred Clam Boule (1pp), Tortellini Pomodoro, Cavatelli with Jamaican Beef Ragu, Octopus (special - not always on the menu), and Affogato. Zeppole: Really enjoyed this app! You create a little sandwich with the zeppole as the base, add the ham, and top it off with a citrusy jam. The combination of salty and sweet was perfect. Charred Clam Boule: We had to get 1pp just bc it is quite small. This was well-seasoned, not overly salted and honestly, I could eat another one by myself. Tortellini: It's like you're eating a soft pillow of cheese! Amazing, give me 14 of these. Cavatelli: did NOT enjoy this dish - it was just too salty for me! I liked the bit of kick to it but otherwise, I feel like I needed some rice (or plain pasta) to eat the rest down. Octopus: tender and tasty; a little overpriced Affogato: a ton of ice over not so much ice cream; I just don't think this is my kind of dessert as I prefer heavier/creamier sweets. read more
