While walking by, I noticed several boxes of meat sitting out on the sidewalk, one of which was damaged and partially open with raw ground meat visibly exposed. It appeared to be stored directly on the ground next to a hand truck. Seeing raw meat like that outside uncovered and clearly not being kept at a proper temperature was honestly shocking. Food safety should be a basic standard for any restaurant, especially one that has the reputation and prices this place does. Watching staff move around these boxes without much concern made it even worse. It is hard to feel comfortable eating somewhere after seeing how ingredients might be handled before they even reach the kitchen. I understand deliveries happen, but raw meat sitting exposed on a city sidewalk is not something customers should ever see. Hopefully management takes food handling and storage more seriously in the future. Unfortunately after seeing that I decided not to dine there.
They don't take reservation and they prefer cash. Once you know this, you don't need to complain about it. The service was the best. The waiters were professional yet they had fun with you which of course, I liked. The food was traditionally Tuscan Italian. The meal began with some fresh Italian bread and olive oil. So good start there! Our starters were an Antipasto Toscano, a generous platter of cured meats, cheeses, crostini full of Tuscan flavors and great for sharing! We also shared the Fried Mushrooms but we both felt that it was fried too much. For our mains we had the Ossobuco which went down very nicely as it was the first time she had it. And I had the Pappardelle al Cinghiale (Wild Boar Ragu) which I loved as well. The place is not that big and the tables are close to each other plus it was full but it was buzzing with a young crowd which made the ambience jolly.and lively! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5
I loveeee the pasta here. Service can be iffy but the food comes out pretty quickly. Also cash only. I prefer to sit outside but the inside can also be a vibe. Pretty sure celebrities come here like Taylor Swift which is why it's always busy.
Bar Pitti absolutely lived up to the hype. From start to finish, everything we ordered was spot-on, delivering that rustic Italian comfort with just the right amount of New York energy. The Burrata was a standout -- impossibly creamy, perfectly paired with fresh bread. The Rigatoni (Riggies) were rich and flavorful, with sauce that clung to every bite just the way it should. The Gnocchi were pillowy and light, a true testament to well-crafted handmade pasta. And the Pappardelle? Silky ribbons tossed in a hearty creamy sauce. The vibe is casual. Service was amazing! Our waiter had the Italian accent and we loved him. The experience felt authentically Italian without trying too hard. Can't wait to go back.
this place is iconic. something about a restaurant that's casual but the food is top tier that does it for me. i walked in here on a thursday night at 6pm and sat outside in workout clothes. you can dress up or down and the vibe is still immaculate. service is quick! waiters are italian so it feels very authentic. can't go wrong with this place. only downside is it's cash only and there's sometimes a wait.

I ordered the Taglierini al Tartufo Nero, which was good but not great. The pasta itself didn't taste fresh -- almost as if it had been made days prior and dried out too long. The truffle sauce was also noticeably under-seasoned and a bit bland. Fortunately, a generous snowfall of fresh Parmesan brought the dish back to life. The pairing of high-quality Parmesan and aromatic truffle worked beautifully together, even if the noodles themselves were underwhelming. Despite the pasta misstep, the vibe, friendly service, great company, and a surprise celebrity sighting made the evening genuinely memorable. Bar Pitti has an undeniable charm, and I'll absolutely be returning to try more dishes. It remains a classic New York local favorite -- imperfect at times, but still well worth the visit.

I've heard so many good reviews about Bar Pitti but I hate to be the one that begs to differ Our tab came about $700 worth of food and drinks, I even tried my homies' order & nothing moved me + the restaurant lacks space, the only thing that was moving was my seat that kept being kicked by servers and people passing by behind me. Appetite low, Overstimulation high My Linguini Alle Vongole was slightly the best pick on the table
I was unfortunately underwhelmed by Bar Pitti. I was super excited to try the famous pappardelle but was unfortunately let down a bit. Don't get me wrong, it was by no means bad. It was good, however for the amount of hype around this restaurant and this dish, in particular, I wasn't overly impressed.The wine was great and the appetizers we got were very good as well. I tried one person in our parties Milanese and it was very good. Service was a bit slow, but we were a larger group so that's understandable, but unfortunately, our waiter was not the friendliest. I must say the ambience is great as it definitely feels like a typical old school Italian restaurant. I would definitely try Bar Pitti again, but I think there are much better Italian establishments in the city.
celebrated my friends birthday at this old school italian restaurant which was the perfect choice for 5 hungry girls we all got the Pappardelle Alla Fiesolana and split the burrata to start. this entire meal was so delicious i was constantly licking the plate. definitely not the best italian ive had in the city but its definitely a solid spot and super consistent! they brought out our food in what felt like seconds and it always came out so warm! this place is cash only fyi, but def recommend and would return
Really enjoyed the outdoor seating and the fresh pasta! The pappardelle alla fiesolana was such a great dish (quite heavy) but phenomenal! The rigatoni pitti was also delightful! The veal meatballs were a little chewy, but still a great appetizer! Cheers!
Definitely one of the best pastas I've had in this city for a long time. Authentic Italian touch. Servers were so sweet and had the right amount of euro style care I look for in my experiences. The restaurant isn't huge which also adds to its charm. People are flowing in and out of there creating a sense of lure! You have to be there and if you're not...what are you waiting for??

Very charming and authentic Italian restaurant. Must note that it is quite small and depending on where you sit, it's a tight squeeze. Important to know that they're a cash only establishment! Service was great! They read us the specials which was appreciated because I couldn't understand the names. Water was always refilled and the service was speedy. The toast with prosciutto was great and I thought the pasta was good. I do want to note that the host on this particular day was a bit disrespectful to a table near me. As he was walking away from them he said "I do not care". He didn't say it very quietly either but the girls did not hear him. I understand guests can be frustrating, work and life can be hard, but hearing that was a bit upsetting because the girls had done nothing wrong. read more

Bar Pitti has that classic old-school Village vibe and is best when you're in the mood for a quick pasta meal. Kitchen and service move pretty fast, so definitely more of a drop-in spot than somewhere you sit around all night. Food was a bit of a mixed bag. Pappardelle alla Fiesolana was the highlight for sure. Real thick cream sauce with bacon that gives it solid smoky flavor. Taglierini al Tartufo Nero was pretty disappointing though. Shaved truffles look impressive on top, but honestly zero smell or flavor. Spaghetti alle Vongole tasted good with a briny clam broth, just felt slightly undercooked. I'd stick to the main menu, and make sure to bring cash. read more
The best and authentic Italian experience I have had. It is a small and busy casual restaurant. Everything is made like a home Cooked meal with real cream, cheese and fresh vegetables. This is the most comforting food you can get in the city. The staff is super nice and talkative. They were really friendly and all introduced themselves to me and joked around. Service is fast. Wow! Such a gem in West Village. I absolutely loved the experience from beginning to end. The service was fast, attentive, and very friendly. Ambiance is loud and great for groups. I am looking forward to returning. read more
I am not understanding the low ratings to Bar Pitti. I stumbled upon the restaurant over a specific pasta which I will go over later into my review. I saw a picture, asked a friend if she knew where the restaurant was, I ate the pasta, and the rest was history. Hubs and I walked on over at noon for lunch. I felt like I walked into an episode of The Bear; where the restaurant staff eats together prior to opening the restaurant. I appreciated this site prior to being seated. We were given menus and I knew what I wanted immediately. We passed on appetizers because I didn't want to be full prior to recieving the main course. The Pappardelle Alla Fiesolana. It was a wide pasta noodle with a pink creamy sauce. It had the taste of a Carbonara due to the bacon but so much better. It was love at first bite. I already told the hubs that I plan to go once more while we are in New York. We also ordered the Tiramisu which was raved about and they weren't lying. It makes it to my "Top 3 Misus" list... if I had a list. It was so light and airy. Not overly sweet. And after a carb-heavy lunch, this was perfect. The staff was as friendly as a staff should be. Their Italian accents were music to my ears and the cost wasn't too bad. It gave me Carbone-esque pricing, but better. The only thing is that the restaurant is cash-only. No biggie. read more
We've been told that this is a great restaurant by more than two people and we're excited to try it out on our Ny trip! It was an early dinner time and we walked in, as soon as we walked in, the spot got packed, so we felt lucky, it was perfect timing! It has European vibes with Italian staff, looks authentic. My friends ordered2 Truffle Linguine and I ordered Pappardelle Alla Fiesolana, fiesolana was great! I love the sauce, everything in it make the pasta tastes beyond! The truffle linguines were missing salt though, so the taste wasn't quite there until you add the salt. The tiramisu was alright, but nothing special. I really love how they change and add daily items on the menu, I think it's innovative and fun! The things we didn't quite like; the service was a bit weird; the 2 Italian servers were fighting over our table while serving food, and the temper wasn't really appealing. He was shaving cheese on my pasta and we got cheese all over the table, including my wine.. I know they're Italian but no one wants to bring it in front of customers.. read more

Wow, wow, wow. Extremely great experience over at Bar Pitti, we got lucky getting a table here. Place is packed to the brim most night, especially on the weekends. You'd expect this place to charge an arm and a leg for what they put out but it's price reasonably. The staff seems to be very knowledgeable on the menu so we took their advise on what to get. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. read more

Solid 3-star pasta place. The pappardelle was underwhelming and overly creamy in my opinion. Didn't do it for me. But the truffle pasta was amazing. Went on a Friday night and to my surprise, several tables were wide open outside, and the inside was pretty empty. Yet still service was a bit slow. Had to flag servers down for water refills and some of them just hover around the dining area, looking more like security than anything. The vibe just felt off inside and the pay by cash thing is annoying. But, it's worth a try. read more

Great place for outdoor dining and take in the views. It gets packed in here especially weekends. Our pastas were delicious and creamy. The bread was also very soft and yummy. Staff is friendly and accommodating. read more

So, here's the thing. I do think the quality of food is closer to a 3 for me HOWEVER the service was SO incredible and stand out, I have to bump them up to a 4. The olive oil was quite bland and I needed to add salt to enjoy it. The table bread was fluffy and yummy. I went a bit out of my comfort zone to try the chicken liver pate. Again, I felt it was quite bland. I've had liver a few times and sometimes it just doesn't suit my palette. This was definitely one of those times. I wasn't able to eat more than a bite. My server noticed this and decided to remove it from my bill without me even mentioning anything, which to me is stand out service. I decided to try their famous blush pasta. It was slightly bland but I loved the flat noodles paired with the sauce. I still ate almost the entire dish and used some of the table bread to help soak up the sauce. I smelled someone else's truffle pasta and it smelled divine. I wish I had also ordered this to try. The pana cotta was decent, but didn't wow me. This spot is cash only and walk in. Oddly a quite casual experience for Italian food which I appreciate. 3.9/5 read more

I was surprised when I saw the overall Yelp rating for Bar Pitti; I thought it would be a lot higher! I went here last night with my two friends and we had a great time. I got penne with tomato sauce and it was delicious- quite spicy, but delicious. My friends got the pasta with meat sauce and enjoyed it as well. The waiters were fine, nothing special, but they did make it feel like an authentically Italian spot which was nice. The place is cash only which can be annoying but they have an accessible ATM. This place is a bit pricey but overall I think it was worth it, but it's not like I'll be coming back super frequently. Maybe if I lived near it I would and the prices were a tiny bit lower lol. The portion sizes were great and my friends finished their plates but it was almost too much for me! The bread that they brought out for free was fine, nothing special. They don't take reservations but I went at 6:30 pm on a Wednesday so we didn't have a wait, but some ppl who came after us had to wait a while. Just something to keep in mind! I can't really speak much on the ambiance because we ate outside but I had a lovely time and loved the outside seating. I also am biased though bc I love sitting outside in the summer lol! read more
