    Grilled corn
    Ashley V.

Came here for dinner while visiting family and we enjoyed our experience. They were out of a few things, but I ate the following and we ordered other items (see photo): -pan con tomate, this okay, I don't love the mushy tomato that is only seasoned with garlic and salt -cheese board, love the "pickles" -patatas bravas, very good -artichoke, not for me -grilled corn, this was my favorite, creamy and tangy Service was kind of slow as they were clearly understaffed. However, the server was friendly and doing his best. I do wish they had more vegetarian options, but appreciate the pet friendly patio. The seating is right next to the street though, so cars are parking next to you as you eat.

Really solid tapas spot! We made reservations for dinner on a Wednesday and the place was packed. I really enjoyed all the tapas but the artichoke, pan con tomate and steak were my favorite bites. I would probably skip the bread pudding next time. The service was awesome and very quick to fill our waters!

Came to Toro on a busy weekday night and sat outside on the patio which was fantastic on a warm evening. We enjoyed a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and tried many dishes on the menu. I have tried many tapas restaurants in the city and this is top 3! The dishes were seasoned very well and the flavors were delicious. My favorite was the setas y huevos but every dish was beyond my expectations. Will be back again to try different tapas!

Toro is Boston Southend's classic! The food was incredible! I love the street corn!! The service was amazing--our server was attentive despite how busy it was. We also tried the gambas and the tortilla, and everything was seasoned to perfection. Can't wait to come back!! We came during lunch so although it was busy, it was doable! This place is fully packed after work hours!

The food here was exceptional. We came on a Thursday, and it was already getting packed. I highly recommend reservations whenever possible. We ordered an order of the patatas bravas, paella, fried octopus (daily special), and the empanada. The fried octopus was insanely tender; I've never had octopus that soft, and it tasted like calamari. The empanada was crispy and flavorful, served with a wonderful sauce. Paella was delicious, with a great sausage included. My biggest gripe was the patatas bravas. We did order it "brava bomb" style, and I feel like it not bad, but it took away from the crispy texture that you would normally expect from patatas bravas. However, the pork belly that is included in this "brava bomb" was insanely crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I did have to knock the reviews down a bit based off the restaurant's lack of cleanliness. We saw 2 bugs during our meal: one small ladybug, and another huge fly the size of my thumb. I wished I had left room for dessert though, but absolutely loved the food and service here. But next time, I will make a reservation and request to sit a little further away from the door and the bugs.

Everyone speaks really highly of Toro but the food felt average to be honest. Maybe expectations were set too high. It felt like their dishes were fine, but most were missing a special oomph. For example, their Boquerones just tasted like normal anchovies with oil, and the bread was stale. Also the tortilla of the short rib was too hard which didnt make the bland short rib taste any better. I will say their Maiz Asado was incredibly delicious though. You could really taste that nice char from the grill and the aioli sauce was amazingly balanced. On some positive notes, their staff were really nice and the cocktails were A+! They were friendly and had wonderful attention to detail. Overall, Toro is a fun place to try maybe once? But probably wouldn't go again. For $17+ per tapas, you'd expect them to have more of a wow factor.

They do the classics very well like the pan con tomate, tortilla española and oysters! Their more experimental plates like the uni bocadillo and bone marrow needed a little more flavor for my taste. Happy I got to try it using the Chase reserve credit!

I've been interested in trying Toro since I first moved to boston in 2010...good things come to those who wait? I don't know what took me so long and it only took Michelin to nudge me to actually make a reservation! The restaurant is small but cute and very busy. We did the tasting menu and it was enjoyable as the dishes were outside of the realm of what you'd experience at at typical tapas restaurant. I love pinxhas and these didn't disappoint. The star was the pistachio flan!

Toro has been on my list of Boston restaurants to try for years now and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to go. I had a 5pm restaurant and they seated us at 5. It's very cozy inside with a mix of standard tables and high top tables. Since it was the winter time, the restaurant had Christmas decorations all around which added to the cozy vibes. The service was amazing. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. He was very friendly and constantly refilled our water. He also checked in on us and gave updates on timing when we cleared the food which was really nice of him. The food was also fantastic. Everything was flavorful and well seasoned. My favorite was the bone marrow dish because the flavors worked well and the bread was crispy. As a group of 3, we ordered half a paella and five tapas and that was more than enough food. Can't wait to come back here!

Tasting menu was an excellent choice for our anniversary dinner! We got to try several dishes - we loved the mushroom one, artichoke dish, tuna tartare, oyster, and the flan. The food was complex in flavors and textures and presented nicely. The portions were pretty good and we did not leave feeling hungry. Service was also excellent. The staff worked seamlessly together and we felt like we were waited on by every single staff member that night. There was always someone clearing our plates, refilling our water and bread, asking if we wanted another drink. Food also came out at a good pace. They even printed out "Happy Anniversary!!!" on top of our menu which was a nice touch. It was super busy on a Thursday night so I imagine the only way to get in is via reservation. Only downside is that the music is very loud - blasting 2000s music the whole time. There is a coat rack towards the bathroom and customers were hanging their coats and bags there at their own discretion.

It's been awhile since me and the wife went out to enjoy a nice little dinner. I'm glad I was able to get reservation here. Probably one of the best tapas restaurants around Boston area. Did not know what to expect in terms of food and drinks. When we got here, they were super busy already. We got here 20-25 mins early. They were still nice enough to accommodate us and seated us. When we got to our table, we were a little shock how tight the tables were to each other with the other parties. Did not bother us at all, from the staff to the customers, everyone was in such a good mood. We ordered maybe 6-7 dishes including my drink, bill turned out to be around $160ish which is totally not bad! Our favorite dish was definitely the corn elote (if requested, it can be served off the cob) and their rib eye. Actually, everything was so good. Would 100% come back to dine in again!

Hubby got a reservation for dinner here for our last night in Boston. The restaurant is bursting with energy. We sat at the bar and it felt pretty cramped for me. I felt like I couldn't comfortably lift my arms up to pick up my fork to eat. We ordered the tasting menu and for drinks, I got a pucker punch which came out looking so pretty. The sourness from the raspberry foam was a surprise but the drink was so refreshing. I tried taking pictures of the food but it was a little too dim inside the restaurant. The presentation of the food was really nice and every single dish was good. However some were a little too salty for my liking and not one dish screamed out wow to me. Service was excellent and my server was so friendly.

Can you please make Caldo Gallego for the winter? It's soooooo comforting.

I can’t tell you why. Try calling the restaurant

Are they able to accommodate vegan options? ...and something more than a salad :P

Nope! There is nothing for Vegan except for Salad. It is going to be hard for vegan folks here :(

Do you make spanish soups or stews ever?

    Nope

    How is the patio?

The patio is pretty good. They have a significant amount of tables set up, but since it's the south end you get a lot of people walking by all the time and it's spread out in front of the diner next door so you could potentially be around the corner…

    Do you allow dogs outside?

They allow dogs in their front patio, not in the back outdoor dining area.

Has anyone down the $200 for 2 people chef tasting including wine? Your opinion? Better off a ladder carte? One plus is that it's reservation only so no wait.

It's a great deal but I did it the first year they had it. They were extremely generous with the number of dishes and glasses of wine that we had. I did it with a Gilt coupon though. I think that particular coupon Gilt does once a year.…

What kind of wait am I looking at for ~6:30 pm on a Thursday for a party of 5?

1hr minimum depending on the weather

    When is happy hour?

There's snacks at the bar from 3-5pm before dinner service starts. But it's not actually happy hour as there's no discounts on anything.

What are the parking options around Toro? Is there adequate parking late Friday night?

There is street parking. I have never had any issues finding parking a block or two away. A lot of spots are resident only at night - so make sure to look for signs. I think they also offer valet parking.

Typical wait on a Monday Tuesday or Wednesday arriving at 9:30? Party of 2.

    About 30 m...

How long should we expect to wait for a table at ~6pm on a Saturday?

Blaire- that's wrong- first seating is at 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Put your name in at 4:30 and you can most likely get in right at 5. arrive at 6pm and you're looking at 1.5-2 hours most likely.

In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.

We shared two appetizers: the arancini and the calamari fritti. We LOVE calamari & always end up ordering it at every restaurant we visit that has it on their menu. We liked the presentation but wished that the calamari was crispier. The batter is thicker + unseasoned & was fried lightly. The two sauces definitely helped here. We enjoyed the arancini much more than the calamari, though that's not to say the calamari was bad haha. The arancini was just a better bite! I loved that they were crispy, cheesy, + quite flavorful. I highly recommend getting the arancini appetizer. As for entrees, we each ordered a pasta. We did the rigatoni alla vodka & chitarra alla vongole. I'm a big fan of white wine pastas with clams & have to say this one was GOOD! Very flavorful actually, while still tasting light. The sauce had a smokey garlic flavor that I really liked! They gave a lot of clams too, so I was pretty happy with my choice in ordering this dish. The rigatoni alla vodka is perhaps their most popular dish and what our server suggested instead of getting the bolognese. We thought it was just okay. It doesn't come with any protein, just pasta + sauce but it wasn't memorable. I'd say, maybe try the other pasta dishes they have before getting the rigatoni alla vodka. Overall, it wasn't a great meal! The highlights for me were the arancini and the chitarra alla vongole. I think I would come back again to try more dishes & although service was a bit slower (with how busy it was), our server was kind & helpful! Prices were on par with other Italian restaurants in/out of the city. Parking: street parking

Such a fun experience and honestly such a deal for how many drinks and food you get! Definitely…read moreneed reservations, even on a weekday. You have to enter the building with a small fox picture, go down a set of stairs and check in at the counter of said restaurant before they lead you into the back where the speakeasy is. The menu is "set" in that they have a particular cuisine focus for the night and the four food dishes are predetermined as well as the first drink. That being said, you get to order three more drinks from their cocktail menu that range from lighter to more spirit forward, ending with more dessert type cocktails. All the drink flavors were so unique and a fun twist. The food was actually very substantial. Good flavors as well. Our favorite dishes were the lamb cigars (large egg roll shape with eggplant and spices) and the whole branzino. Everything was good though. Service was a very friendly and they were open about the fact that if you didn't like a drink they'd make you another one.

She was great! Really enjoyed talking with her and she had great drinks recommendations. The food was delicious and very unique which was refreshing. Its a 2 hour experience with 4 drinks, 3 food courses and a dessert. You definitely wont be hungry after. Highly recommend for a date night.
