***New Management Alert!***…read more Hub Sushi has always been one of my fav sushi restaurant for my family and I in North York. We're there at least 4 times a year. We have a party 12, it's hard to get reservations for that large of a party on such short notice especially for a small restaurant like Hub Sushi. However every time we call they were able to set a table aside for us no issues. This time around was no exception. We do eat a bit earlier at 5 pm so there was plenty of seating. We arrived early and received our table. I check in on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to get a 20% coupon discount on a special roll. I proceeded with to ask the server what rolls the discount applies to in the menu. The server said they have a new owner and not able to honour the discount. That's how I found out it was under new management. They do have a VIP service where you register online and they give you a free order of fried gyoza or edamame for each visit which they did honour. Thank goodness! However they no longer serve with ponzu sauce. The gyoza was served with the his sweet and sour sauce. Service was terrible. Maybe it was under new management and they were still getting use to the kitchen but our food came very staggered and took a while considering we were not the only ones in the whole restaurant. They mixed up my sister's order of a teriyaki chicken sushi roll, they gave her the teriyaki dinner. But when they corrected the order, her teriyaki chicken rolls came with a piece of hair on the roll. She lost her appetite after seeing the hair and tried to cancel the order. But the server said they can't cancel it and will remake the rolls with no hair. They did end up charging for her order.she didn't end up eating it when the order came and was worried they just picked off the hair. My daughters waited for over an hour for their spicy seafood udon noodle soup. To have the server come to us an hour later to tell us they can't make the spicy udon seafood noodle soup. I asked why she said they don't have seafood and I said how about chicken? They proceed to tell me they don't have the spicy broth either! So we switched to a stir fry chicken teriyaki udon. It came over cooked and the noodles and veggies were mushy and soggy. I gave them 3 stars since the steak teriyaki, ebi sushi and Sashimi was still good. It's too bad that we didn't have a good experience here and will probably not come back

I've been to Yorokobi a couple times before, it's always been great! Just as good as quality sushi…read moreyou may find Downtown or in Asian neighbourhoods in the GTA. We ordered this time the Yorokobi set for 2 and upgraded the sushi to brown rice for $5 extra and upgraded the green dragon roll that came with the meal to volcano salmon roll (which is one of their popular special rolls) and paid the difference. We also added a hamachi carpaccio just for more more protein for my SO because he thinks it might not be enough, but we were left super full. I love that the sushi wasn't loaded with rice and it was thinly included, we did mention that we usually don't like that much and the server said they can even adjust the rice content in the sushi.... We didn't confirm to adjust it but perhaps they went with it because rice is perfectly thin in the maki and less than usual for a nigiri, which is great because otherwise I don't know if we would have finished the meal. $5 to upgrade to brown rice for the sushi set that didn't have that much rice is still IMO a bit steep. Other that, the sushi is fresh, the special rolls are eye catching and tasty and the hamachi carpaccio was good too, LOVE the presentation. I think the best thing here is still their special rolls though! Server is so personable and made sure we were well taken care of. Only feedback I have here is the miso soup that with the Yorokobi set is way too salty I couldn't finish mine after a sip. Ambiance was clean with little Japanese decor throughout. They have a huge parking lot at the back and you can enter and exit from the back instead of trying the front as there is very little parking in the front lot.

There's also a fun ice cream station where you can get your own ice cream at the end, which kids (and adults!) will love. ‍ Service: Quick and efficient -- our orders came out fast, even with the weekend rush. Overall: A great spot if you're craving all-you-can-eat sushi with lots of choices and a lively vibe. Will definitely come back!

There are only about 4 to 5 spots in the front, and while there are some smaller plaza parking lots nearby and another parking lot across the street, most of the spots are marked for whatever store they're in front of, so park at your own risk. Upon entering, there aren't that many tables either. There isn't a lot of room for bigger groups but they can merge some of the tables together. The biggest issue for us was definitely how long and uneven the wait for the food was. We ordered at 12:15 PM and got our salads about 10 minutes later, but after that, the food came out pretty sporadically. The first actual dish didn't come until 12:44 PM, which was the tempura from the two-person set. Parts of the other meals and the rest of the two-person set slowly came out between 12:46 and 12:49 PM. The 30-piece sashimi and sushi set didn't arrive until 1:04 PM, almost 50 minutes after we ordered, and the actual salmon teriyaki which was just a small salad, salmon teriyaki and steamed rice from the bento was the last thing to come out at 1:09 PM, about 54 minutes after ordering. By that point, we had already finished the entire two-person set and another person had finished their udon and sushi combo. It's just not ideal when you're eating with a group and some people haven't even gotten the main part of their meal while everyone else is already finished. It also didn't seem like it was only our table. The table in front of us had a pasta order that seemed to have been missed. We heard the server say it was about to be ready, and then heard someone from the kitchen respond with something along the lines of, "There's another order for it?" So I do think the timing and communication between the kitchen and servers is something they need to improve on. We were served our salads first, but didn't get our miso soups until we asked for them. They were planning to serve them with the meals, but since we had already been waiting so long, we ended up just asking if we could have them first. For food, I got the two-person lunch set for $52, which came with a large veggie udon, 9 pieces of sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi, an additional 6 pieces of a classic roll, and tempura. We chose the spicy scallop maki for our roll. The sushi and sashimi were good, and the tempura was good as well. The veggie udon was a little disappointing though. It had one bok choy, a few pieces of mushroom, and then was mostly just strands of onion. The spicy scallop maki was also just okay since I couldn't really taste much scallop. Price-wise, I do think it's a little on the higher side for what you get. The quality was good overall, but for the price I would've liked a little more, especially considering the wait. Between how difficult parking is and how long and unevenly the food came out, I'm not really in any hurry to return. I think the wait bothered me more because we were eating as a group, and by the time two people finally got their food, the rest of us were completely finished. If they can improve the timing of getting everyone's meals out somewhat together, it would make the experience a lot better. 5% off with cash.

One highlight was the variety of torched oshizushi options, which added a nice premium touch to the usual AYCE lineup. The mango sago pomelo and soft serve ice cream were easily the stars of the meal--definitely LEAVE SOME ROOM for them!! The only minor downside is that the space could use a bit of a refresh, as it's starting to show its age. That said, everything was overall clean, and the service was friendly.

Service was quick - however with most all you can eat places, the amount you order , almost never arrives correctly - some things we had to re-order as they never showed up the first time. Fish was pretty fresh - but not on par with Vancouver's level - but price here seems very reasonable. The wasabi here was somehow underwhelming , i kept mixing and mixing and somehow didn't get a spice kick out of it. Maybe it's a skill issue, don't even know. I will probably find a chance to explore this place again in the future.

I went with my parents and my kids on a Saturday afternoon and while we didn't plan on going to an AYCE, we were drawn in by their poster on the window. $23.95 adult, $21.95 senior 65+, kids ages 7-10 $17.96. When we went inside, they asked if we were having the lunch or dinner menu and we said lunch. We didn't know that the poster on the window is the 'lunch AYCE special' vs a regular lunch. We scanned the QR code and place our orders directly from our own phones. It wasn't until we went to pay that we realized the lunch and lunch special are 2 different things. The manager said that the regular lunch has salmon rose, beef, and beef ribs. We didn't know there are 2 different lunch menus nor did they ask us in the very beginning. Anyway, we needed up paying more than we anticipated. Back to the food. They have a small bar area where you get your own miso soup and regular romaine salad. There's also vanilla and matcha (very good) soft serve with cones and a bunch of pudding (mango, lychee, coffee, etc) and you can put toppings on top (lychee jelly, passionfruit popping bubbles, etc). Tempura items were excellent, with crisp batter and came out piping hot. The salmon rose, spicy salmon sushi, squid sushi, flying fish egg sushi were all very fresh. The rice to fish ratio was well balanced, the seaweed was crisp and fresh. The rolls were nice, just 4 pieces per order. We tried their dragon roll, volcano roll, and sexy summer roll (the rice paper was very hard on this one). The beef ribs were very tasty, as well as the chicken wings. We tried both the salmon teriyaki and the grilled mackerel, both were pretty good. The udon also had a nice bite to the noodles and the broth was tasty. The lunch special menu and the regular lunch menu don't seem that much different. Despite the mishap today, I think I will go back and try the lunch special menu. Also, Sushi Legend is part of the Queen Congee Group, and from my experience, all their subsides are all very reputable restaurants.

Their menu had some Korean dishes too like Bulgogi and LA galbi. I came for dinner with some relatives. We ordered a small combination platter for 4 and separate soba combo with tempura and sashimi. Food items: edamame - standard frozen stuff heated up. Needed more salt. 3/5. miso soup - watery, nothing in it. no tofu chunks, no green onions, etc etc. 2/5. Sashimi: atlantic salmon - pretty standard. some very sloppy knife work though, with uneven pieces and random thin belly pieces Tuna - looked like maguro, ahi, albacore - tasteless sadly. It had the right colors but the texture was somewhat mushy and didnt taste like much. Some pieces were semi-frozen yellow-tail - again, semi-frozen and tasteless octopus - a bit tough, really thick cut, served very cold and a bit off-putting Escolar - the "white tuna" that isnt actually Tuna and really just cheap Escolar that is awful for you. This is my tell-tale sign of a really low quality sushi place. sashimi overall - 2/5. At least nothing had gone bad. nigiri: atlantic salmon, maguro, albacore, and a mystery seared one with white flesh - I suspect this is Escolar. None of the rice was seasoned, there was no wasabi in any of them. The fish slices were sloppy too. One piece of tuna nigiri had 2 strips of tuna on it instead of a properly cut and formed slice. nigiri overall 2/5. green dragon roll - tempura shrimp inside with lots of avocado - it tastes the way you think it would. Heavy on the tempura batter though which got soggy fast. very one-dimensional. All you taste is avocado and mayo. 2.5/5. salmon lover roll - this is a bigger roll with spicy salmon inside and on top. Heavy on the mayo, also one dimensional. 2.5/5. Crazy Crab roll - this is a roll with imitation crab+mayo inside, then with a mound of more imitation crab+mayo stacked on top of each roll slice. This was just gross. You might as well spoon a jar of mayo and eat some imitation crab sticks. 1/5. Not a single bit of real crab in this. there were 3 pcs of california roll (with a chunk of more imitation crab stick in it typical of Toronto rather than the mayo crab salad in other places) and 3 pcs of spicy tuna roll. Both average for this type of place, 2.5/5. Soba noodles - the noodles were the dry kind they cooked and to my surprise it was not overcooked - texture was pretty good as far as dry noodles go. The sauce was served in a bowl made of ice. A bit of green onion and wasabi on the side. The ice bowl was the worst part of this dish - it just melted really fast and diluted the sauce to taste like nothing. Didnt help that their serve was so slow and it kept on melting while we waited. Tempura - 2 shrimp, 1 broccoli, 1 yam, 1 squash, and another veg piece i forgot. Thick batter, but crispy. Sauce was average. 3/5. free dessert of sliced (sour) oranges. Service: this was a huge problem. VERY slow. Each table has a call button but it was useless. Nobody ever came when we rang the bell (and yes it does work; we can hear the bell). We still had to flag them down. Even then half the time they forgot what we asked for. And we arent even being demanding. They completely forgot to give us utensils and dishes but brought the food out so we just sat there watching the ice melt into our soba sauce until they came after the 3rd reminder. They seemed overwhelmed and understaffed. Plenty of free parking out front in the plaza. The restaurant itself is clean enough but their seating arrangement is odd. They have dividers making it look like booths but really they are just chairs around a table. A bit awkward to climb in and out but doable. They do offer really big portions of food and you wont leave hungry. Overall, the quality here is severely lacking if you want decent quality sushi. It isnt dangerous though - nothing was foul or rotten/gone bad. Nothing about the sushi here is remotely authentic. If youve had good authentic sushi from Japan or sushi mecca's like LA or Vancouver, you will be appalled at what they serve here. But if you want typical "westernized" sushi then this place is similar to a typical AYCE sushi joint, except its not AYCE. I cannot recommend this place. I can safely say I will never be back here again.
