Close up of deep fried oysters (full amount - about 8 small oysters).

Wanted to try this restaurant out as it seemed to be the only place that did served the deep fried taro ball in the area. The quality of food is very poor. Ordered dimsum through selflane (their online platform) on a Sunday morning for pick up at 11:30. We got to the restaurant by 11:28, and was told our order would not be ready for another 20-30mins because they were just waiting for the deep fired oysters (you would think that the order should be ready at the pick up time that you selected on the online platform). We left the restaurant at about 11:56 and found a nice spot close by to have our picnic. To my surprise, half the dimsum dishes had to be thrown out because it went bad - the taste of the dimsum dishes was very, very sour... this included the hargow, which was basically cold, hard and sour by the time we had it, the steamed chicken feet (which does not taste like your typical Chinese steamed chicken feet) - this was discoloured, almost black, very dry, and tasted like they used red vinegar?! And lastly the deep fried taro ball, the pork filling had no flavour, and tasted like the pork they used went bad. I would also not recommend the deep fried oysters, the overall dish was so small, it was not worth it at all... Overall, my experience at this restaurant was very poor, I would likely not visit this place again as there are much better restaurants that serve dimsum. Eat with caution... especially when taking food to go.

Came by for Dim Sum while my friends and I were in Waterloo. They have a decent selection of food and it was not too expensive either. It ended up being really good! Would come back if I was in Waterloo again!

The giant spring roll was suuuuuper good. You haven't done your visit justice until you've tried it

Disclaimer: This review is solely based on King Tin's lunch buffet that runs only from Monday to Friday- I haven't had their regular a la carte menu stuff or dim sum. Their lunch buffet is really great for the price. $9.50 for an all-you-can-eat meal means you don't have to feel guilty about not eating until you feel uncomfortable, and this makes for a much more pleasant buffet experience. :-) The quality of the food is also on par with typical Chinese food you'd find in Waterloo. Selection isn't crazy, but it's enough. There are both americanized and traditional Chinese food options, with items like sweet and sour chicken, beef ho fun, chow mein, eggplant, etc. They also had a few dim sum items in the mix, which was nice. My only complaint in regards to food would be that there weren't that many non-meat dishes. Gotta look out for my vegetarian/vegan sisters. Service was minimal, but that's standard at buffet places. They seated us when we entered, brought us water/tea, and took care of us at the register when we went up to pay at the end. I would definitely go back again if I ever needed a quick-fix for a large quantity of Chinese food (which is almost always).

Can't beat the value of this place! I came here for their lunch buffets which had a pretty large selection of foods and it was pretty cheap (I think it was $10 per meal). It's probably on par with other Chinese restaurants in Waterloo but still doesn't compare to Markham / GTA Chinese food. The buffet usually isn't too packed, so they don't seem to run out of things and feels pretty relaxed. I also came here for dim sum, which is even harder to find in Waterloo, so I think this was the one and only time I've had dim sum in Waterloo. They have everything you find in your standard dim sum and it was great because dim sum is a meal I love no matter where I'm eating it. I think it was reasonably priced as well, ending up around $15 per person. I'd recommend this place as a place to try out in Waterloo. But for an authentic and better experience, I'd definitely recommend people to visit Markham for great Chinese food.

Great authentic Chinese food in a nice new looking spot in a yet to be complete building one street over from it's old location on King. The sign said since 1983 I think so this place has been around for a long time and it obviously knows how to do Chinese food. I had the lemon chicken, a mushroom veggie dish, fried mixed seafood and a bean curd with crab sauce. A few dishes didn't seem that hot despite the restaurant being quite empty, and compared to meals at the old location on king everything seemed a step down. The old location was definitely a 5 star dining experience but i'm not sure if the chef had a day off when I was there. It's still a great restaurant but may be a disappointment to yelpers who remember the food at the old location.

Free soup and desert.

Good service but decent taste. The combination platter quantity is very low but worth it before moving to main course

Food was below par. Some foods tasted frozen, waiters were slow and had a negative demeanour. Would not recommend for its price.

Ye's Buffet - BBQ shrimp skewers

Ye's Buffet

Gave Ye's Sushi a try as I couldn't get into my preferred restaurants, it was a Saturday evening…read moreand I hadn't planned ahead and made a reservation. I had eaten at Ye's quite a few years ago when it was a combination AYCE sushi with order by tablet and buffet with salads, deserts, soups, etc. The main hostess was quite pleasant but the servers were quite grumpy just dropping off dishes without a single word. Servers didn't even clear plates on a regular basis and so piled up at the table. I was surprised at the good selection of Sashimi they had on the menu including tuna which many places do not have anymore due to the high cost. So selection was quite good. However, presentation was very poor, they don't make any attempt to make the food look good or provide a suitable sauce for the dish presented. They don't know how to make tempura either and their offerings are heavy and greasy. IMO this is because the restaurant has Chinese roots and not Japanese. Another gripe I would have is with the condiments they use, the ginger and wasabi is dried out and the soy sauce is so salty, more like a Chinese cooking soy sauce, than a sweeter Japanese soy sauce used for sushi and sashimi. Anyway, wasn't the best experience and given the choice would opt for one of my other favorites in the area. Will have to plan better in the future and make reservations.

Was skeptical of the place because of reviews, but it was a solid dining experience. Sushi was…read moregood and a wide variety of different dishes. We had unagi very good . A few rolls also good . Once there we wait 10 minutes before someone comes and tells us that our table is being cleaned. 5 minutes later another person comes and tells us our table is ready but we have to be finished in 20 minutes! Beyond frustrating, why not say that when I called. Needless to say we won't be recommending them. Very poor customer service.

I ordered the mixed veggie bibimbap on SkipTheDishes for pickup since it's literally two blocks from my place of work, may as well pickup! Anyways, the sauce was absolutely delicious! Could have used less bean sprouts, next time I'll ask for none. I hate them but wanted an authentic experience. I also didn't think it would have been mixed already when I got it. I thought I could have just brushed them off. But it was mixed! I ordered an extra egg by mistake because clearly I'm not smart haha! First time having kimchi, oh my goodness I'm in love! It was a bit spicy but not in a bad way. Awesome flavour! Next time I'll order a side of kimchi, there was three pieces of kimchi (this is why my review is four stars!!) more kimchi! The miso soup was yucky, I really didn't enjoy it. There was one teeny piece of tofu in it and two pieces of seaweed. But I also discovered I just don't like miso, not sure if it was authentic or not as I've never had it before. Did not enjoy though. Overall the food was great and I told my mom she is totally coming with me next time. Yummy yummy!!!

We had come here on a Saturday at around 7:00 pm for the Italian Buffet Special, which was being…read moreadvertised as $12.95 a person. When we had first arrived, we were told that it would be a two-hour wait, and that we would need to have a pager with us at all times that would be used to notify us once a table was ready. We weren't able to get a pager immediately as they were all being used therefore, we had to wait at least fifteen minutes before we were able to get one. Once we had that pager in hand, we waited about one hour for our table, which was actually not as long as we had expected. Upon entering the restaurant via an escalator from the first floor, we were pleased to see how picturesque it was. With the large windows showcasing the horse racing at the time, along with the tables that boasted their own private television screens, we were impressed with how wonderful and inviting everything looked. Upon being seated, we were given programs on the betting available for the evening's races, which was detailed with everything we needed to know. We also noticed that there was a middle-aged woman coming around, asking us if we were interested in placing bets during our dining experience. The diners went wild during the races, which created an exciting, yet sometimes, loud atmosphere. In terms of the dining, I was pleasantly surprised with how many options were available. Since it was only $12.95 (with a Winners Circle Card), I was blown away at how much food was placed within the buffet area, with an area dedicated to bread with a variety of spreads, another area with salads and other cold appetizers (such as artichokes, cold cuts, cheese, etc.), a hot table (with such items as lasagna, pizza, chicken, fish, and more), along with a dessert section, which boasted a wide variety of desserts, and a few dishes of fruit. All of the items were well-prepared, and everything tasted fantastic, with each item at the hot table coming onto my plate hot (temperature-wise), which is rare to find in a buffet. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at this buffet, and would highly-recommend it to anyone who wants delicious food, at a low price. The only thing that I didn't like was the waiting period, and how slow it was, considering that many guests usually sit there the entire evening, watching the races and eating for hours on end. Although this is definitely the idea of the trackside buffet, it could have been the reason why we were so delayed in getting to our table. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait, and will definitely be going again!
