This place is a local gem if you end up in Durham and area. If you're on your way to Collingwood, I think it's worth the stop. Their food is very homemade and truly local. My friend and I visited this place two weeks ago for their lunch buffet on a Saturday. Your meal is free if you go there during your birthday. You just have to show proof like a driver's license. It was my birthday that day so my meal was free. They staff were very friendly and took care of our orders really well. I think before for their buffet, they have a section where you can go and take the food. Since it's Covid dining, they have a new process where you fill-out a sheet. You select the dishes you want from three forms: appetizers, mains, and desserts. I definitely recommend getting the broasted chicken and their desserts. They have really good desserts stretching from pies, cakes, and tarts. The restaurants also serves as a store and sells baked goods. I bought pecan pie to my family and they absolutely loved it! Food was decent . Yes vegetables are frozen :( but it is a Buffett. The breasted chicken is good but Anna Mae's is still better in my opinion . The service was excellent and I do like the free refills on the pop plus for that . The desert bar is excellent and is what saved this to be a 4 star review. The ambiance is great it is clean and well organized with a beautiful view from most rooms . The store is a nice touch . Overall this is a great place for older white people not on a budget . Because they only take rezos for 8 people or more and we were one short, we decided to go and wait. They hand you an electronic beeper to let you know when your table is ready. We waited from 6-6:30pm on a Saturday to get a table. Seemed long but there is a nice kiddie playground and tables and chairs to sit on inside and out. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait! The food is all homemade and soulfully good. They offer discounts to seniors starting at 60 so that was awesome. The food highlights: If you could just eat a plate of their baked back ribs, do just that! These ribs were sweet'n sour and sooooo tender, fall off the bone good. The sauce was more tomato based and I was stuffed but had to go back for more. The bread rolls are soft and fresh. Even the humble meat loaf was delicious. Don't forget to grab a piece of the fried chicken that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Tastes better than KFC! Breaded fried fish is also a must have with a side of crispy coated fries. The homemade sausages are fairly lean and very dense so if you want to try, maybe have a half one to start. The dessert bar--they have their own soft-serve machine with vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Serve yourself either in a bowl, on a wafer cone OR on a plate of any pie or dessert of your desire! *falls off chair The desserts are delightful and you can add an extra shot of whipped cream if you wish. Went to celebrate mom's birthday lunch and the food and service was fantastic. Especially good was the broasted chicken.

We love this restaurant in Durham. Clean area, well laid out and reasonably priced buffet menu,friendly and attentive staff. Try the "broast" chicken that was crispy on the outside and juicy and well seasoned in the inside, have the steak grilled to your liking, roast beef, wings, mashed potatoes, mac&cheese. They have the battered fish (haddock - and not some cheap ones) , amazing salads, hearty soups,freshly baked breads and rolls and of course spread them with their own made jams ( esp. apple butter and elderberry), plus a lot more items. Please save some room for the dessert that includes a variety of pies including cherry/blueberry cheese cake (coconut cream pie was my fave- bought two to take home). We had a happy meal!! This is a Mennonite restaurant with delicious food. They use fresh ingredients from local farmers including West Grey Premium Beef company (which is becoming popular among high end Toronto restaurants....you will get it for a fraction of the price here). My parents had the beef dinner and my wife and I had the pulled pork. Both were delicious. They also serve fresh baked home made desserts. We tried the pecan pie and cheese cake -- we loved them both (I liked the latter the best). The staff are very courteous and sweet. My daughter and I tried Pebbles on our way to the cottage this weekend as it's always busy and we wondered what the fuss was about. What a beautiful restaurant and if I'm correct I think you can enjoy either the menu or eat at the buffet. The food was fresh, delicious and homemade. I didnt even get a chance to try the salad bar but wish I had of. I was stuffed after just one plate. The broasted chicken, roast beef and fresh rolls were delicious. The mashed potatoes were a little too puréed for my taste. I found it a bit odd that you have to help yourself to the burger buns out of a bag served hot off the grill. Maybe have the grill attendant serve the buns to both hide the commercial bag and do every patron is gnputting their fingers on your bun. The desserts were delicious. Overall I have 4 stars because I was stuffed after 1 plate and found the dinner price ($26.95) quite high. In hindsight, next time so will order from the menu and possible add the salad bar. read more

I'm sorry that I didn't think to take any pictures of this place when I stopped in here, but let me just saw WOW!!! This restaurant offers a fixed menu, but go for the buffet. The choices of meats are plentiful, some pre cooked and some fresh off the grill, but the desserts are where it's at! Lookout momma, you've got some competition in the fresh baked pie category! The buffet is between $15.00 and $20.00 depending on time of day and age (check their website as they may have pricing there), but it is well worth what they charge. Word of advise though, don't get there too late as this place is always packed! I will be sure to go back again, and will definitely get some pictures to post. Happy eating! read more

This food always disappoints me. They serve what I call comfort food (mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, meat loaf, stuffing, chicken, lasagne, along with pies and soft serve ice cream, etc. (and oh yea, the salad bar). But all of that food tastes mediocre at best. The chicken was only wings and backs and somewhat dried out. The lasagne looked like all noodles and no sauce or meat. The scalloped potatoes looked like it was extruded in a factory (all uniform fettuccine shaped potato pieces), the pie just wasn't flavourful, and the crusts were crumbly, not flaky. Oh and the smoked pork chops which I think could be the pièce de résistance (at least for me) are always dry! I guess if you never get homestyle food, then you have to take what you can get but I think there are better Mennonite-type restaurants to go to (Crossroads in Elmira and Anna Mae's in Millbank) that also have a buffet and where the food tastes and looks better. Pebbles, up your game! You have a beautifully renovated building. It really is gorgeous and I think it will attract a lot of summer traffic but have the quality of your food match the quality of your renos. read more
