The food was so amazing and the staff? Even better! Also the anime stickers on the wall really add to the vibe! They made a mistake saying 2 adults 2 seniors but it was supposed to be 1 adult and 2 seniors but they fixed it even before we complained! And we couldn't finish and they said " don't worry about it have a happy new year" then talked about how they liked a certain dessert and those staff were so nice and was a great experience! Would definitely come back when in town!

Good experience overall. My son & I stumbled upon this place while driving around looking for somewhere to eat with decent ratings (I would give it a mid four... 4.5 to be exact... we need some intermediate marking options Yelp!). Here's why: PROS: Location - off a main road, easy to find, parking is free Menu options - Good selection of items Taste & Presentation of food - Very good... food was tasty (with the exception of the Pad Thai in my opinion) and the seafood was fresh. Portions were good too. Service - Very attentive, quick and professional staff; conversation toward the end made them even better! Value - Price for all you can eat was very reasonable, worth it if you ask me! CONS: Ambiance - Floor was slippery (literally the entire floor surface, as though it had buildup of substance, it was odd.). Also the seating and general look of the place is quite old & outdated. IN SUMMARY: Overall ambiance is a factor in deciding on a restaurant, but is more important to me for a special occasion or on date night. When I dine out, taste, service and value are what mean the most to me. As for this restaurant, I would for sure go back! It's a great little local spot. As I upload the pics I'm also getting hungry again and that's always a good sign!!!

I've been quite frequently at the location on Saturday and Thursday for both dine in and take out. On Saturday, I found the service really really slow. Dishes like the teriyaki beef that's served in a sizzling plate were at times, tasting like they were just microwaved and placed on the plate, other times legit sizzling. So inconsistent. As I entered the main person who seats patrons (guy with bleached highlights and glasses) was resolving a customer who didn't get most of their orders, I should have taken this as a sign that it was going to happen to me. When seated, there were times that orders never came that I had to follow up. By the end of the night, I would say I can count with about 3 orders that were never received. :( So I returned on Thursday hoping for a better weekday experience. A bit slow to start but overall they were able to keep up. Beef teriyaki was again inconsistent, some serves seem to be microwaved and placed on a plate that was not preheated. Others were slightly sizzling. I can see this operation slightly adjusting to the higher volume of customers from Sept students. The other side of it, if you like to be warm while eating, wait until November when the heater actually consistently turns on. The restaurant has not turned on the heater so it's really cold in there. Or bring a parka, your choice. My rating did drop I as I ordered the wok items off their take out for some coworkers. Wok items are supposed to taste like wok and they were just a bunch of corn starch thicken takeout and soy sauce. Portions size are small. For the amount I paid, I think I can get the exact same dish from the Chinese-Canadian shop in the mall for the 3 items for a certain price...usually under $10. I've placed a screenshot of the receipt if you want to avoid the Chinese-Canadian food options.

According to other reviews, this seems to be a highly loved sushi spot with a wide variety of rolls. Due to their large menu, it was a bit overwhelming at first to decide however, I tried the Hanami roll. This is a special roll that is exclusively only done at Hanami. It consists of crab meat, mango, prosciutto, cream cheese drizzled in mango base sauce. The cream cheese was had a bit of a fruity taste that complimented well with the crab meat and prosciutto. The sauce wasn't too heavy on the mango flavour so it wasn't overwhelming with the mango bits. This exceeded my expectations for a fusion style roll! In summary, Hanami is a good sushi spot if you're craving sushi & are in the Guelph area. Given the portions of the roll were quite large, the price point is fair. I would definitely come again to try the traditional rolls.

Went for the ayce lunch which is $21.99 on a weekday Surprisingly awesome experience! Keen attention to detail and service. Atmosphere: clean, authentic vibe. Cool seating areas and pleasant ambience. Service: prompt, quick, friendly and helpful staff Portion sizing: for ayce the portion sizes were great, so we could try a little of many options The fish to rice ratio on the rolls and sushi was really great, big pieces of fish and small amounts of rice. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Options: for lunch, there were many many options to choose from. Grilled, fried, wok, Thai, sushi, sashimi, and more. Tea and fountain drinks are free with ayce too. Definitely hit all the marks for us and would recommend to anyone looking the a decent ayce sushi place in Guelph

We recently got to try the newish sushi restaurant in Guelph. I'm not sure what was there prior to but I do know they were restructured from a previous restaurant. Our dine-in experience was pleasant with quick and friendly service. We opted for à la carte versus AYCE this time around. I had the mussels with melted cheese (which was delish), calamari (also great and large portion size), karaage, yakiudon, Thai beef noodles and dynamite rolls. Everything was good! We loved it so much that we came back a day after for takeout. The spicy salmon roll was fantastic but for some odd reason this time around the dynamite rolls tasted a little bit off so we didn't end up eating it all. We definitely will be back though for AYCE and sake with our dinner next time (their sake menu looked great!). **UPDATE** I ordered a sushi/maki party tray for Christmas and was blown away by the amount and quality of items considering the price point! The dynamite rolls tasted Amazing this time so that one-off occurrence I had was definitely a thing of the past. My guests loved the platter!

During their soft opening, I wasn't impressed with the food or service because it was on paper and the food came out cold. But after being convinced to come back by friends, W O W They've really amped up their service and it's all iPad ordering systems now. Their sushi selection is good - better than other sushi restaurants in Guelph. My go-to place now and I will always bring friends that want to try good sushi to Hanami Izakaya.

We ordered takeout from the Hungry Ninja. The online order system instructs you to send a text…read moremessage with particular ordering instructions, which is fine for me as I have worked in food service before, but I can imagine that people unaccustomed to working in the food service industry could find this challenging. I received a confirmation text, and when I arrived the food was ready - earlier than scheduled even which is a bonus. We had intended to use downtown Guelph gift vouchers we recently received as a gift. As a business listed under the Downtown Guelph Business Association directory, they should be willing and able to accept them as they are valid as cash or cheques. They get deposited the same as a cheque into their bank, as it says on both the voucher AND the Downtown Guelph Business Association website. We arrived to pick up our order and were told that the owner does not want to accept these vouchers. The cashier had been told before that they are not willing to accept then. We insisted that they should take them as they are valid as cash or cheque at any downtown business, but apparently the owner does not want to deal with the hassle. The cashier phoned the owner who immediately told them "no, we won't take them" and hung up. We then offered to pay by credit card with Apple Pay since we had not brought our wallets. We were told it was an additional $2, and they don't have tap. We ended up leaving with nothing, and the food went to waste. It is hugely disappointing as someone who tries to support local businesses to be turned away because they don't want to deal with vouchers from their own local business association. It is a service offered by the community to ensure the economic stability of the downtown core, and to see it discarded by a local business is very disheartening. It is also disappointing that they would rather see food go to waste than accept a voucher. Very dissatisfied with the lack of commitment to the community and complete lack of customer service on the part of the owner.

But not only that, the service was super friendly and the decor was cute. I went around 3pm in a Friday and it was absolutely dead. But that definitely had nothing to do with it being bad food. I appreciated all of the many fish options for the bowls and all the great topping options! I will definitely go back for more poke and to try a sushi burrito! I went back a second time to try their rolls (aka sushi burritos). I tried the ninja bomb roll with ninja sauce and it was very good. They also have decent miso soup! Still have yet to disappoint

I've gotten the katsudon a couple times too, and it's a good meal. Comes with miso soup and salad. Which, the salad is basically a leaf of lettuce with a bit of odd carrot dressing. The all you can eat is as you would expect it. It's nothing to write home about. The quantity of the sushi definitely outweighs the quality, that's for sure. The interior is quite small, but it's cozy. There's a couple back areas for larger groups. I want to sit there one of these days.
