I was in Hamilton recently, visiting a friend from out of town. We were both unfamiliar with what Hamilton has to offer so we just drove around looking for lunch until something caught our eye. Restaurants seemed to be few and far between in the area we were in but we eventually came across Sapporo Japanese & Thai Restaurant. Although we were hungry, we opted for their a la carte menu, rather than their AYCE Sushi. We ordered Spicy Basil Beef and Thai Curry Chicken. Both dishes were very reasonably priced at $10.00 and $12.00, including rice. Pretty good deal! The flavours were actually quite good and the portions were more than reasonable. We fished it ALL, with my friend even asking for more rice. She really enjoyed it! With good food and friendly service, check this place out if you're in downtown Hamilton. read more

Friday march 6th 2026 me and my girlfriend had the worst public restaurant experience of our lives. As we are currently both vomiting. We waited (understandably) for about 25 minutes, yet we were completely ignored the whole time by the staff and the group behind us was serviced first. Food and food service was absolutely terrible, two plates had "leftover" food from the previous dish still on it, several dishes were cold, brought back to kitchen for heating and never returned to us, my girlfriend and i both found a fish dish that tasted rotten, that likely explains our sickness. The staff were absolutely terrible and unwelcoming with a consistent resting "b*tch" face, did not apologize for any of the things mentioned above (which was brought up to the staff), were extremely slow, and at the end as we paid, threw the check onto the table. We had come several times before, and we are never coming again. read more

In a search for Japanese cuisine we chose this one as being the closest. Some choices were correct but not the version we had hoped for. The choices that were what we had hoped to receive were excellent. Others were what was ordered but not done the way we had hoped to receive, possibly because of local variation within Japan. read more

Don't have any complaints. The sushi is reliably fresh and tasty. Love the range of menu items - lots of great share plates for appetizers or to munch on along the way. We've enjoyed edamame, dumplings and many other dishes. read more

This is my go to place for all you can eat sushi! When I come visit family and friends in Hamilton I always make sure I stop at Sapporo's during my stay! The service is great, you order your items on an iPad and it's quickly confirmed and delivered to your table. It's a good location to have a few friends for sushi. The ambiance is quiet with hit pop songs playing in the background. A lovely place to have sushi, I will be back soon Sapporos! read more

Pick up was regrettable! I understand that delivery apps take an obscene percentage of the sale price so I wanted to do the right thing and ordered from their web site. The options were ASAP or 615-630, I chose ASAP and that was the only information I got. We showed up twenty minutes after the order was placed, and told to wait another twenty, at this point it's already 6:30 and I've been told to wait another 10 minutes. Since I was sitting in my car they were kind enough to call and let me know it was ready. 45 minutes sitting in the car waiting. You can be certain that I won't be ordering or attending this restaurant again. Sushi is mediocre at best anyways. read more

Very nice and clean restaurant! Wait staff was very friendly and helpful. You use a tablet to order and look at the menu, which is handy but at the same time distracting. The food was really good! I started with wonton soup, which was spot on. We had the tempura tofu with was delicious. My partner and I split a sashimi combo and the fish was fresh and tasty. Everything was really nice. Would go back again read more

Awesomeness, love it very much! We will always go back! Authentic Japanese and Thai Chinese fusion!

Won't be coming back after being a patron for many years. There were portions of our order that never arrived, and also requested for drinks. They forgot our drink order, as the drinks arrived well after the first round of sushi. It wasn't busy at all, so there really was no excuse for the poor service. It was offhours, not during the typical dinner rush. Would not recommend going. Find somewhere else. read more

Servers are great, always especially efficient and kind. The lunch and dinner all you can eats are very reasonably priced and have a very large quality gap from the vast majority of other all you can eats I have visited similarly priced or cheaper. So much variety that there will usually be at least a few items everyone can find that they'll enjoy regardless of taste. Ambiance is comparable to that of an august eats or your average medium priced sushi place. The general chicken, simple but amazing desserts and sheer amount of variety are what makes this place very appealing and solid to me. One of the better choices to try in downtown Hamilton. read more

We came here for the AYCE dinner and were quite happy with this sushi place. The selection was pretty good and our items came very quickly after we orders. Everything tasted fresh. The service was a little cold as the servers sometimes just dropped the items on the table without saying anything or looking at us. The parking was not the greatest either. We were able to find a spot but when leaving were blocked in by a pizza delivery car from the Dominos in the plaza. We would definitely come again as it is one of the better sushi places we have had in Hamilton recently. read more

Went here based on a friend's recommendation. We were greeted very cordially and welcoming by hostess. Our waiter was also very polite and friendly. The people who brought us our food, not so much. We didn't go with the all-you-can-eat and instead ordered a la carte. The prices seemed cheap, but you kind of get what you pay for. The sushi rolls had such a thin layer of rice on them! The flavor was OK, but nothing that I'd go out of my way for. The atmosphere of the restaurant was horrible! It was modern and all, but it was noisy as heck and you could hardly hear the pop radio station in the background. Shouldn't a Japanese restaurant play Japanese pop, or something? I don't like hearing "Cool Kids" at anytime, much less so when I'm eating Japanese food! People think the tablet ordering system is so cool, and yeah, I could see the advantage of being able to see all the photos... but the photos lacked descriptions. The ordering system didn't allow you to make changes at all to any dish. For example, my bento box came with salmon sashimi, and it took forever for me to find out if I could change that to tuna sashimi! In the end, nobody could give me an answer, so I told them to forget it, if you're interested to know. Lastly, I took one of the hard candies at the front counter and it cut my tongue! WTF!!! read more

I came in for all you can eat lunch and it did not disappoint. The iPad ordering system was pretty neat and the other reviewer(s) that said it was confusing are just dumb because it's simple. And since it was my first time the waitress walked me through how to use it and confirm orders without any issues. My only issue was they used a lot more filler ingredients to the rolls and understand it's because it's all you can eat but it takes away from other sushi flavor when you cheat. However the taste was excellent and if you just keep ordering then you fill up, it just seems like you're eating more. The best and biggest sushi item was the Salmon Rose. It had the most amount of fish and tasted amazing. You must try a few of these (or 4 like me) when you go! read more

I doordashed the california rolls, las vegas rolls, and the spicy shrimp. The rolls were both really great, i paired them with some spicy mayonnaise. The spicy shrimp however weren't as i expected. they had an odd breading and they weren't cooked with the spice, instead it came with spicy mayonnaise to dip. The wait for the food was also unbelievable (about an hour, majority of it was the preparation and not the delivery). I will say that their items are well priced, but i still don't see myself getting food here again. read more

Been here a few times now, and I have to say that I love it! The restaurant is very clean and the service is great. You also order on tablets which is pretty convenient. We started off with an avocado salad and edamame. The salad came with a chipotle style dressing which tasted amazing. I also had mango salad rolls which were great. It was similar to the mango salad (appetizer) but the sauces accompanying it really enhanced the flavors of the tangy mango. My friends ordered the Makimono set (Rainbow roll, spicy red tuna toll, and BBQ eel roll) and a Ruby bento box. They enjoyed their meals as well! Would recommend checking it out :) read more

Love the all you can eat sushi! With covid we have been doing a lot of take out from then to support them. We watched over a 1/2 time span, They had over 20 orders being picked up. That tells you how popular they are! read more

Food was pretty good whenever I went. They have deep friend bananas which is an A+ in my books. It's AYCE Sushi is pretty worth, their beef enoki rolls are the BOMB. Service was fast, but we went on a Monday night, which might be why. But the servers didn't get the least bit annoyed with the fact that we stayed so close to closing, we were pretty much the last group there and we were a really big group... The atmosphere of the inside was clean and high quality as expected from most sushi restaurants, I'm really glad that they had iPad menus too! It really helps with ordering. Would recommend if you have a student discount, not a bad alternative to August 8. It's also not too far from school. read more

We are sushi lovers and have tried just about every sushi place in Hamilton. We order from these guys almost every week. Fresh, tasty, generous portions, good price. We get party platters for that "all you can eat" experience at home. Don't miss the spicy scallop roll and the wonton soup! I know, I know...wonton soup? But I'm serious, it's really good! Especially with the cooler weather upon us. Trust me! read more

It's pretty good for $29.99, all you can eat! The sashimi and beef ribs were fresh and delicious. Would totally come back next time I'm in Hamilton. The strawberry ice cream is meh , but the mango is where it's at. read more

Order the salmon roses!! I've been to many Japanese rest and this place by far is the best. I've been to sushi star the food was a 7 but the service is very poor. I've been to august 8 and the food is small and the service is even more horibble. So all in all sapporo is good overall. I come here every so often on anniversaries and birthdays and even order off of Skip. I love their All You Can Eat menu and their food is simply delicious. The prices are all fair, just bring cash. (Though if you forget, they have an ATM) The Sapporo special Beef Tataki is my absolute favorite to order and then for dessert, Green Tea Ice Cream!!! 20/10 would suggest this place to anyone! read more

Probably the worst ayce sushi place I went to. I have tried over 15 different ayce places and this hands down is the worst. The quality of the place has went downhill dramatically. The salmon sashimi was frozen when I bit into them. Food was so bland and nothing was good. The chicken wings was probably the best thing I had there. The place is full of university students and that's prob why the quality of the food is so bad. Save yourself a disappointment and stay away from there if you want actual decent sushi. read more

I was dining alone. I felt rushed and the service was REALLY SLOW.! I had arrived wearing clean clothes and I was clean shaven. The server was more interested in the table of four suit & tie yuppies . she was laughing and smiling with them. But rude to me. Before I could speak she rudely said " only dinner ayce now! " I was hungry so I made the mistake of staying and ordering. They messed up every plate and did not bring me the last 3 items or my dessert. ZERO stars. read more

Since I'm not a sushi extraordinaire I'll let my fellow Yelper's review the finer details of the culinary options available at Sapporo, but I can comment on my first experience here and why I was generally impressed. First off, I made the trek here in the middle of a furious blizzard. I stormed into Sapporo with my dead down as though I was running from the bulls in Pamplona. Fully expecting that the restaurant would be as sparse as can be in the middle of a storm, I popped my head up to find the rather large restaurant nearly full. I was shocked! I thought to myself, 'If all these people felt compelled to make the trip here in the middle of insanity outside then this place must be worth it'. Immediately my interest peaked and I felt much more comfortable about what I was about to stuff into my stomach (especially considering my lack of knowledge when it comes to Japanese meal options). The wait staff was extremely friendly and were very prompt at all times throughout my lunch. I found the restaurant to be quite clean considering I came late in the lunch hour and since it was nearly a packed house. I had the all you can eat sushi lunch that tasted quite good with fairly generous portions. Like I said, I'll leave the culinary aspect of these reviews to more experienced sushi-yelpers, but I certainly didn't run into anything to raise an eyebrow at. So if you're in downtown Hamilton and you want to dive into some sushi, I certainly recommend giving Sapporo a shot! read more

Food was great but the service was terrible this visit. They lost track of our sushi order and took 30 minutes to reorder everything and by the time it came everyone had lost their appetite. Staff didn't even apologize or acknowledge their mistake. read more

I've been here a couple of times and it's always been delicious :) As far as all-you-can-eat sushi goes, the service is quite fast. The price is consistent with the others in the area (~$25 incl tax). The staff is friendly too. There's free parking - just need to get a voucher when you first arrive and put it on the dashboard. The atmosphere is really nice. Lots of different things to choose from, although (like most places) the lunch menus don't have as many items as dinner. read more

The food is always amazing when I come here. The beef is tender, the ribs have a lot of meat on them. The Satays are my favorite as well as the crab and spinach soup. Tiramisu is pretty good too. It's pretty hard to find parking but they will give you a parking pass to park in the back where you have to pay. I love the iPad ordering system. Never disappointed and I will be coming back! read more

Heard good things about the restaurant. Was very disappointed. Food was average at best, it took 40 minutes to get 3 seaweed salads and almost an hour and twenty minutes to get 2 chicken wings. Half the food we ordered didn't arrive at all. I would not come back to this restaurant nor would I recommend it to my friends or family. read more

A fantastic AYCE experience! Pros: - Lovely decor. - We loved the iPad ordering system- items are displayed in an attractive and orderly fashion, and it's very easy to modify your order if you change your mind. - A decent array of Japanese and Thai dishes. - Very fast and generally friendly service. - Delicious food - the sushi rolls were presented nicely and were much larger than what we're accustomed to, and the rice, noodle dishes, and basil chicken were very fresh and flavourful. - Tiramisu and ice cream ended our meals perfectly. Cons: - Parking lot from hell caused us to park down the street (certainly not the end of the world). - Since the sushi rolls were much larger than we'd anticipated, we weren't able to gorge like we usually do- again, not the end of the world since the quality was high. Should I return to Hamilton in the future, Sapporo will be my first stop. read more

This is a mediocre sushi restaurant. Parking can be quite a pain depending on the time of day you go. The space inside is fairly small but is just enough that it does not feel crowded. The food is pretty good, I have no complaints. The service was average, nothing exceptional. Overall, I would recommend this location to a friend. read more

A friend and I came to your restaurant yesterday prior to going to a nearby concert. We gave ourselves over an hour and still we barely got any food before we had to leave. The staff was very friendly and what food we did get was good but more than half of what we ordered never arrived and we left our expensive, "all you can eat"lunch hungry, and with a bitter taste in our mouths about the whole experience. Furthermore, at no point did anyone ask us if we wanted anything to drink, including water. We actually arrived when there were still very few people there but everyone else, including those who arrived after us seemed to get their food delivered long before we did. On top of this, after we asked for the fourth time where our food was we were offered 25% off, (which was just insulting considering we actually got less than half our food, then given a bill with 15% off (making me think maybe they didn't think we could do the math?). Honestly at this point, they should have offered at least half off, if not 100% for the terrible service. This was my first trip to Sapporo and I am uncertain as to if I would ever return or recommend your restaurant for in house dining. read more

This place has gone drastically downhill in the past couple of years. The new iPad ordering system is horrible and unreliable. There's constant confusion about which orders have gone in, which orders are pending, if something is actually coming, etc. Several of the items we ordered never came at all and our servers acted annoyed when we asked them anything because they seemed to think that all of our interaction should be with the iPad. Food quality has gone downhill as well, sushi pieces and rolls were falling apart, many of the pieces that should not have been chewy were very chewy, and some of the tempura was very undercooked. I was also served tea (which now costs extra) that was lukewarm at best. With all the all-you-can-eat sushi options popping up in Hamilton I see absolutely no reason to return to Sapporo, and I won't. read more

Tasty, fast, fresh and affordable. This is my go to Japanese restaurant in Hamilton. Lot of praise. Especially myself being vegetarian, there are lots of options. Sapporo sushi makes my heart warm! I love everything in this place: the space, atmosphere, servers, and most of all, I love the good food! Let's just say, I have been to most the AYCE's in Hamilton and when it's all factored in, the only other one that comes close to Sapporo is Spring Sushi (or Sushi Star if you don't care about atmosphere whatsoever). If you're going for dinner on Thursday and the weekend, definitely make reservations. Even with reservations, you may have to wait a little for your table to clear. Without, I don't know that you'll get a place to sit. Sapporo is usually busy, but there are many booth style tables and the ones scattered on the floor are far enough that you won't feel like your neighbours are watching every bite you take. They have a very good menu! I'm not sure whether they charge for leftovers. Picky eaters, ask before you begin and save yourself some dough! They also serve alcohol, which is a nice perk if you're looking for some liquid courage--to eat more. Prices are very fair, about $14 for weekday lunch and $19 for dinner. Add a couple of dollars for weekends. Discounts for seniors and children nine and under. You can see their AYCE menu here http://www.sapporohamilton.com/menu/ayce.html. They also have a take-out menu, but I've never really seen anyone take out of this place, and I've been here enough times. Try their Las Vegas roll; delectable. Make sure to get the parking slip from inside and put it under the windshield; it's free and saves you a possible fine. read more

This review is pertaining only to their delivery policy and not the quality of food. Their web site promises free delivery for an order of 40$ or more. My order was for over 72$ but looking at my bill I found that they charged me 6$ for delivery. I called the restaurant and they said that delivery is free only in the downtown area. That is not mentioned in their website. I think it is one way to deceive the public. Just be aware! read more

I found the reviews good enough to try out this place since we were visiting Hamilton, I would say I am not highly impressed with the quality the service was o k portion size was good too but some how we ended up having more food then we ordered non of us remembered ordering few items although it was ayce so it did not matter much but any ways some of the items were better then the others so We decided to give it a 3 thumbs up. read more
