    Miso cod

Amazing food, authentic ambience, highly recommend. Came here for dinner with family. It was a Wednesday at 8:30 and they still sat us. There was no one in the restaurant so we had it all to ourselves. Sushi was incredibly fresh with warm sushi rice and crisp seaweed. All the food was perfectly cooked to order. I would go into each dish but honesty the food all speaks for itself. One thing I will say is from what I could see the menu is all seasonal and changes frequently. Another note is the sushi is by the piece so you could have some sticker shock. Keep that in mind when you order anything. I do highly recommend the miso cod, spider roll, any of the sushi, and the green dragon roll. Location is in a strip mall, ample parking. The place is great for a date, great for a casual meal, and especially great if you like fantastic food!

This place is so good! This is an authentic Japanese restaurant with real, top tier Japanese sushi chefs so expect to pay a bit extra for the quality. I haven't tried everything on their menu but the few things I did try were amazing. They serve some authentic Japanese dishes and of course the sushi here is exquisite and very fresh. If you're craving Dynamite or Spider rolls go elsewhere. Though they do serve sushi rolls here you are better off trying their other menu choices. My latest visit was during the Covid pandemic so I had to order take out. I arrived and was greeted immediately. The waitress took my order, and after I paid she told me I can wait in my vehicle and she would bring it out to me. Maybe 5 mins later she very warmly gave me my food and thanked me. Food was still amazing and delicious when I got home.

    Chefs choice Gorgeous!!!

This is the best sushi in 100 miles. Absolutely fantastic. It's literally insane. You will have 0 regrets. Worth every penny. Attention to detail is outstanding. Thank you!!

I am always looking for authentic Japanese restaurants and Sushi Masayuki is as good as it goes in GTA West. Pro-Tip: Do request to be seated at the Sushi Bar when making a reservation. Sushi Bar area seems to be reserved for their loyal customers. Most items are seasonal but you can assure their freshness. You will be paying a premium for the privileges but well worth it if that's what you looking for. Service is polite and courtesy. Just like the authentic Japanese hospitality.

This place offers authentic Japanese food that is hard to find at other restaurants. They offer dishes other than sushi and I really like how they emphasize using the entire animal when you order a dish. We had ordered sushi and they actually fried the shrimp heads to serve along side and it was delicious. The service is wonderful and they are very kind. I recommend asking for their recommendations and choosing an item off the daily specials menu. They even gave us a complimentary eggplant appetizer which was wonderful. Definately order that saki to round out the meal.

Having just moved in the Burlington area ... wanted to find a great sushi joint that would fulfill the urge. After a bit of searching, we found Masayuki. They are a bit hidden, which is nice, not a crowded area at all, a single Sushi Chef (working his magic) and very clean establishment. My wife and I started with the Gyoza for an appeteaser and I had the Asahi as my beverage of choice. The tea here by the way, is complimentary. The Gyoza was very well made not too much flavour but also not over cooked at all. Just right for us. We then opted for the 6 Nigiri and Sushi platter. Chefs choice. Was a wonderful combo and he prepared some great choices. Enjoyed the all. Couldn't tell you all of the types, but al very well put together. We also ordered the Green Hand Roll and the Rainbow Roll (our usual choice for comparing sushi locations). Neither was a disappoint. The green roll was a shrimp tempura combo with a nice layer of thin sliced Avocado. We will be back. This hidden gem was so good ... I hesitated on writing the review. But need more people checking it out, don't want these guys to leave town. :)

This place is a rip off. See my pics. I paid $20 for 2 cucumber maki and 1 avo-cucumber roll and a miso soup. See my pics. They're grocery store level-quality at best. I wish I could challenge the existing reviews as being posted by friends and family... no chance they're that well rated. In the area Yami sushi is better, I tried to one up them but This place actually proves they're better. Do NOT Recommend.

Tucked away in Burlington, this restaurant is quite a gem in the area. I drove down to try Sushi Masayuki as it was featured on Canada's Best 100, Best of Japan Week. I ordered the sushi lunch, pork curry and the chawanmushi (savoury steamed egg custard). The latter was very authentic and this item is hard to find at sushi restaurants downtown. The sushi fish variety was disappointing for lunch, as I saw uni, unagi, and ikura in photos that are likely dinner options. Curry was delicious and well priced. Definitely recommend the bar seats! It's the best seats to see the chef in action. Still prefer restaurants downtown and uptown for the quality, but if you're out west, this is the place to go.

Amazing quality dishes for authentic Japanese cuisine. We did Kaiseki dinner. Absolutely enjoyed every course

Hidden gem in burlington, should be the only one with Japanese chef! Nice interior, relatively new open. We order omakase and steak dinner. Price is not too expensive, quality of sashimi and sushi were very good. The steak dinner is only acceptable, definitely Mye is better. We would definitely go again for the sushi and sashimi!

I need to take some deco tips from here.

Summary: Great sushi place (much better than your average suburban place), size to price ratio was not the best, prompt & polite service. If you're a "bang for your buck" budget person/AYCE/big eater, I'd suggest you check it out for lunch! While I was looking on the menu, the prices don't seem high, but when the actual item arrives, it's a bit shocking, re: shrimp fried 3-ways - $14.50 (4pcs), Nami dinner ($26/13pcs), overall maki was on the smaller side. Just to give you an idea, the sushi place that's on par that I go to in Toronto, has an equivalent to the Nami, but $22/15pc. Not only are there a coupla more pieces, but the portions (even fish!) are MORE generous. If you're a regular at AYCE, alter your expectations in terms of the sizing or you will be sorely disappointed. They have an Omakase for $80 (again not a ridiculous price by any means), states that it's 6 courses, but who knows how many pieces that equals to. And some people would say how do you put a price on the "experience". Other than that, everything else was was fresh and more in-line with a nicer, higher-end-than-West-end sushi joint...with the prices to match.

Sadly it's been a while since I've had non all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi whether locally or out of town. This place brings back some good memories of higher quality food that's made with care and with quality ingredients versus some of the abominations you will see at some buffets like Mandarin. A la carte is like Porsche, "There is no substitute". As much as AYCE places want to make their sushi look good, taste good and make it seem as proper as they can - there simply is no replacing the real deal that is a proper chef putting together a proper serving of what you personally ordered. That being said this place is in no rush to get you 30 pieces of farmed salmon sashimi on a plate with some shredded radish with flashing LED lights. Sorry this is not THAT type of place. What Sushi Masayuki is by my impression is probably one of the most basic unassuming places you will come across. It's minimalist, simple and probably the way of more authentic than not. I say probably because I can't honestly say what authentic Japanese is being as I can't say I've ever really been to a truly authentic Japanese restaurant. Does Masayuki have bulgogi, kalbi or bibimbap on their menu...? No? Then they probably aren't Korean. The menu is a la carte by sashimi or (nigiri) sushi or meals for lunch, dinner and such. They have rolls listed although the selection doesn't include anything with teriyaki inside of a roll it's safe to say this place doesn't try to make AYCE sushi at an a la carte type of place. There's simply no need for that non-sense. I ordered the sashimi lunch which is basically a plate of various sashimi on a plate, some elegantly cut veggies, radish and a side bowl of rice which included a miso soup and salad to start for 20 dollars. Did I leave busting full loosening my belt? No but this isn't that type of place. I had quality cut after quality cut of fish, salmon, tuna, mackerel, scallop, octopus and the thing is one that has experience eating sashimi from many places can tell this isn't just another place. Masayuki doesn't just have the kind of fish that's served in mass quantities like a factory that is your general AYCE place. The fish texture and temperature are in my uneducated but somewhat experienced taste - perfect. The tako (octopus) which I saved for the last piece was not just a piece of bouncy rubber. The quality if obvious even if you don't know your stuff. I don't claim to be a master of raw fish, far from it but I, a basic customer who has had previous experience eating in many places that serve sushi, sashimi and such all over this continent can at least say, yes... this is better than your average place especially if your average place these days is AYCE and not a la carte. From this one simple meal and the dozen pieces of sashimi I am able to say that this place serves the kind of fish you'd hope they'd serve being a la carte. Quality vs quantity. This place proves that it matters. Moving forward I can see this place being an every other month type of treat for our lunch group perhaps. The only downside I can think of Masayuki is that it's in a quiet part of a quiet mall almost hidden so you won't necessarily see it by accident. I've read some others saying it's one of the better or best sushi places in the GTA. As far as Burlington goes I can probably agree with that. As far as the best I've been to I can't say that but it's definitely one of the better ones.

We ordered 4 meals, too much for the 3 of us, but we wanted to try different dishes. The soondubu was a favourite, and although not the best I've had, and lacking a bit of heat for me, it was still very good, and my colleagues enjoyed the spice level. Lucky for me there was some gochujang on the table, so I was able to warm things up! The bibimbap was good, not sure the bowl was hot enough, as there was only a bit of crispy rice, and the egg was a bit over. The gochujang came in handy again here, but the flavours in the dish and accompaniments were good. Same for the bulgogi...the best part of the plate was the buchimgae (pancake). Not that the bulgogi was bad, it was just good. We also had a maki platter not pictured that was decent as well. They have little individual table rooms (we weren't in one this trip) which adds to the authentic feel of the place. Service was good, though a little slow on the maki (hence no photo) A good introduction to Korean food for my friends, enough to inspire them to want to try more.

When I finally got around to checking off that to-do box in my head, I was not disappointed. Doma serves up fresh, quality fish with an assortment that you're not likely to find at any other sushi joints (and definitely not at an AYCE establishment). They also have a great selection of rolls consisting of the standard fanfare that you would expect at most sushi places, but also their own unique spin on a few items. I've tried their lobster roll (interesting and yum), crispy salmon (super yum, would re-order & highly recommended), and crispy tuna roll (super yum, would re-order & highly recommended). Everything I've tried at Doma has been wonderful so far and I'm eager to return and try some more items off their menu! The only minor ding: although the overall presentation and plating of ordered items were nicely done, I did notice on several occasions that their rolls were quite loose - rice came across quite easily when picked up. Service for both dine-in and take-out is warm, polite, and attentive. Prices are on the pricier side compared to other places in Burlington but it is well worth it for the quality and taste that Doma offers!

I was asked to pay up front before being served, which made me wonder if there was something about my credibility. My meal was initially handed to me in a plastic bag, even though I intended to dine in. After clarifying, they plated the food but served the sushi and the hot appetisers, like the lobster tempura, at the same time, which wasn't what I expected. Drinks like water were only offered at the end of the meal. The food was truly great, even though the lobster tempura was a bit dry, the service could definitely use some improvement. I give the food 4 stars and the service 1 star, which averages to 2.5 stars overall.
