    Spicy scallop maki roll
    Lo C.

Doma is tucked into the big plaza on Walkers and Dundas. It's a little shop but still seems spacious inside. The place is homey and very clean (so necessary for a place that deals with raw food). The service is impeccable. The waitress was amazing. I asked take out for the udon but it wasn't on the takeout menu and she said it's just because people usually ate in with that item but she'd get it to go if I wanted. I decided to eat in. I got the spicy scallop maki roll. DELICIOUS. I do feel like they could've put a little more fish in as it was mostly filled with tempura bits. But it's something I'd still reorder. The nabe udon was hot and yummy. However, they put very little ingredients in :( and it tasted a little fishy nooooo. The price is reasonable and their is a clear effort to make everything fresh. The presentation is clearly a win from their dishes to the restaurant itself. I'll be back to try their other dishes for sure :)

We are vacationing here from the US and came specifically because Doma has wonderful reviews. They are all well deserved! The service is excellent and the staff is so incredibly friendly. The food portions were larger than I expected and were presented beautifully. Thank you for a lovely dinner!

By far the best sushi place I have ever been to. I highly recommend Doma Sushi. Service and food are as top notch as it gets. I would be questioning anyone with a complaint about this place. If you haven't been here, you're missing out!

My and my boyfriends favourite sushi place! High quality, friendly environment. Servers remember our orders, although we only come by every couple months. Tried the sushi boat with beef teriyaki- still steaming hot, sashimi are thick cuts and the sushi is so fresh! Ended the meal with a scoop of green tea ice cream. Great bang for you buck!

For some additional context, my wife is Japanese, and having been to Japan numerous times over the years, it's hard not to compare the quality of fresh fish to what we have available here.  This is one of the reasons why we've kept coming back to this restaurant, because it's on par with what you would get at an excellent sushi restaurant in Japan. For our meal, we both ordered the Masayuki Tasting Sushi Lunch. The meal started off with 3 types of tempura (shrimp, okura and pumpkin), along with an egg with eel in the middle called "umaki". There was also braised eggplant in a dashi broth.  Each of these dishes were exceptional quality.  I especially love the braised eggplant since we've had this as an appetizer on previous visits.  The second dish we had was octopus with "yuzu kosho", which is a paste made from chili peppers, yuzu peel and salt.  We were also served sashimi pieces which included greater amberjack and tuna.  The sashimi essentially melts in your mouth and you can taste the quality of fish since the flavours are prominent.  In addition to the fish, the dish was presented with shiso (perilla leaf), wakame, radish, shaved daikon, and shaved Indian carrot as part of the presentation.   The third dish was a set of nigiri, which was served one at a time as you eat them.  This dish contained sea bass, salmon, tuna, scallop, Japanese Spanish mackerel, and amberjack.  As was with the sashimi, you can tell the fish is high quality since each piece is buttery and melts in your mouth.  This was also the first time I've had Japanese Spanish mackerel, and it was absolutely delicious. The dish was also served with a side of miso soup which has a very nice flavour while not being overly strong.  The fourth dish in the set were rolls which consisted of tuna with pickled radish. My wife explained that tuna and pickled radish (torotaku) are put together in a way to melt the fish in your mouth, plus provide the crunch with the radish. When we were speaking with Chef Masayuki, he mentioned that umaki and torotaku were unique to this particular lunch set, and not something you'd see on a regular menu. Finally, for dessert, we were served green tea ice cream with a sesame senbei on top, along with green tea cheese cake. Both the ice cream and cheese cake were amazing. Neither of them had a lingering aftertaste like you'd get with a cheaper quality of green tea. This is something I'm extremely picky about, and was extremely satisfied with.  When speaking with our waitress, she mentioned that both the sesame senbei and green tea cheese cake are made in-house - which you can absolutely tell due to the quality and overall flavour.  As with previous visits, we walked away quite full and extremely satisfied with our meal.

We ordered 4 meals, too much for the 3 of us, but we wanted to try different dishes. The soondubu was a favourite, and although not the best I've had, and lacking a bit of heat for me, it was still very good, and my colleagues enjoyed the spice level. Lucky for me there was some gochujang on the table, so I was able to warm things up! The bibimbap was good, not sure the bowl was hot enough, as there was only a bit of crispy rice, and the egg was a bit over. The gochujang came in handy again here, but the flavours in the dish and accompaniments were good. Same for the bulgogi...the best part of the plate was the buchimgae (pancake). Not that the bulgogi was bad, it was just good. We also had a maki platter not pictured that was decent as well. They have little individual table rooms (we weren't in one this trip) which adds to the authentic feel of the place. Service was good, though a little slow on the maki (hence no photo) A good introduction to Korean food for my friends, enough to inspire them to want to try more.
