a grilled sandwich and a bowl of soup
    Jonathan S.

With multiple locations to choose from, Burnt Tongue knows how to serve soup all year round. I love the perfectly-sized menu for lunch, brunch, or dinner dining. There are options that surely will please any soup lover, especially during winter. While I was surprised to see few dairy-free options, I totally understand - non-dairy soups are definitely less fun. I ordered the cream of mushroom soup with the french onion sandwich, and boy were they delicious. The sandwich was grilled to the perfect temperature, texture, and melt, and the soup has chunks of mushroom - bless! I loved the trays that the team brought the food out on - I wish you could buy them from you! I will definitely return when I need a nice bowl of comfort. Thank you!

A small restaurant but big on service and great food! We walked in tonight for the first time and they were very helpful, even proving me with a mask that I forgot at home. We went with the double burger, small fries, large tomato tortellini soup, the full sized grilled cheese sandwich, and two sodas. It came to about $32 which is a bit high, but the quality was outstanding. The large soup was very hearty with quite a few tortellini and tasted so good. The grilled cheese was delicious with the right amount of toasting. The double burger patties were thin but charred nicely with good flavor. The small fries were amazing, like coming from a chip truck, and they gave you lots. As we walked out, we ordered a carrot cake ice cream sandwich. It was "okay". I found the cream cheese ice cream far too sweet and the cake top and bottom too soft and generic tasting.

    Clam chowder - so good!

Stopped in on a stormy afternoon to grab a light lunch to go. My hubby got the French onion grilled cheese and I picked half grilled cheese with a cup of clam chowder and side of carrots. The grilled cheese was tasty, a solid classic. The clam chowder was yummy but I did wish it had a touch more salt to bring out the flavours just a bit more. Would stop by again if in the area to try more items!

Yum! If you're craving some hot and freshly made soup, you've found the right place! It's so tasty, full of flavour and served super hot! Also, the bun that comes with the soup was also so delicious hahaha! Will be back to try more menu items!!

If you've not been to The Burnt Tongue, you're missing out! With their 4 locations in Hamilton and Dundas area, you can easily find one that's convenient for you. I have been to the one on Locke Street and Westdale Village. Their food is on the lighter/healthier side--from soups to sandwiches to burgers, salads and fries, are incredible! I've had a variety of their soups, like chicken tortilla soup, creamy tomato & tortellini soup, creamy chicken wild rice & roasted mushroom soup. Like everything else I've had, their halloumi burger and single classic burger with cheese were prepared to perfection. While it's in season, try their baby arugula watermelon salad with feta. With a team of excellent staff, it is evident that they put a lot of care into what they serve and the service they provide! When you go, tip them well! They've earned it!

This is the second location of the local Hamiltonian chain and is one of the best places ever for good hearty soups. I love how the menu changes often so you almost dont get the same thing. I've had many types of soups here from the thick and creamy types to more liquid types. All very good. What they also really do good at is the grilled sandwiches and fries where the portions are just right (fries are large enough to be shared with others). This Locke Street location is bigger than the Cannon St one so if you are in the downtown area then consider this location.

Recommend the signature sandwich which was incredible. Holy Cow was so filling and the meat was juicy and tender. Had the smashed potatoes with both sauces better than old school fries. The flavor was just bursting out of these little potatoes. Washing it down with the house made lemonade elixir was a treat as they make it in house. The next time I have to try the salad bowls or the Blazin beef. Highly recommended to all my friends if you are in the area.

I know a lot of people have reservations paying top dollar for just a sandwich, but I'd say the quality of ingredients and flavourful sauces is totally worth it. I always get the holy cow sandwich with vamp sauce, but will occasionally get the chicken sandwich with lunar sauce. I did try the lemonade they had once, but to be honest, it doesn't quite fit my palate. The lemonade has some sort of seasoning in it. If you've had lemonade from East Asian restaurants, you would kind of know what to expect. They also give you a discount card that you can show for an extra 15% off when you visit. If you're in the area looking for a quick bite, I'd give this place a shot.

Nice and clean inside, the staff was friendly and very helpful with the menu. I decided to get a karaage side dish and a bbq pulled pork sandwich. The fried chicken was nicely seasoned and complimented with the mayo dip. The bbq pulled pork was very tasty but was a bit messy to eat with the sauce and the bun. Overall, I think this place is good and would love other things on the menu especially their milkshakes.

Mind you the reviews were all old over a year ago. Since COVID I do noticed most restaurants quality post COVID has gone down. Ambiance: It's pretty small with a few tables. Decor is pretty cute and modern. Also super clean with one unisex washroom. You order at the counter and seat yourself like a fast food place. Service: Service was good. The lady took our order and the food came pretty quick. We also got there at 1:30pm so it was empty. Food: We ordered a easy as pie milkshake which is like you apple pie in a milkshake! Pretty cool idea. The pics on the website looks great. However in reality it didn't look like the website pic at all. Just white milkshake. There are tiny chunks of apple/ cookies and a hint of cinnamon. But overall tasteless and not sweet. It's was like I was drinking ice milk with some texture. I was not impressed. We only took a couple of sips and it left a weird after taste so we didn't end up finishing it To share we got the Kimchi poutine. It was essentially fries that were not that crispy soaked with Kimchi and some mayo on top. It was ok a little underwhelming. The 3 sandwiches we got were different so we can try them all: 1. Sriracha honey Karaage chicken sandwich. The chicken was a bit soggy maybe from the sauce. The bun was fresh. The lettuce inside was a bit wilted. 2. Pho beef banh mi sandwich. The beef was a bit dry and the banh mi was tasteless with no flavour 3. Bbq pull pork sandwich. It was sweet and flavourful but again too much sauce made the sandwich a bit soggy. Pricing is fair. But probably won't come back. For $50 I can get better food elsewhere.

I love the name of this Oakville establishment, the Sandwich Society, however I did not like their…read moresandwiches quite as much. Let me preface by saying that their OG The David sandwiches are not bad. The focaccia bread was nice, and the sauce is solid where they didn't overdo the truffle flavours. What they however overdid was the prosciutto. Sometimes in life, less is more. They just went 'ham' with layers upon layers of what tasted like the cheap San Daniele prosciutto (according to the website they used ones produced by local Niagara farmers), where in parts of the sandwich that didn't have the mozzarella cheese, the sandwich was inedible because it was so salty. By eating the entire sandwich, I would have exceeded the entire week's sodium intake. By the end, I had to throw a quarter of the sandwich out since it was so heavy and salty. Had they invested in higher quality prosciutto and included just two or three layers of it, it would have been a pretty good sandwich. I remember, outside the restaurant they said something along the lines of if someone ate a sandwich from Sandwich Society, he/she would not regret it like their EXs. But after having one, I experienced a certain degree of buyer's remorse. Remember, "we don't eat sandwiches because we are hungry. We eat sandwiches because we are members of a Foodie app called Yelp."
