    New restaurant in downtown Hamilton.

When I first went to Szechuan Szechuan - the one at Vaughan Mills, years ago, I really like the Spicy Beef Noodle soup. The braised beef drenched in a spicy broth with the thick noodle and star-anise spice. Though I have had many different renditions of it, nothing quite topped it. I know many of you will argue that there are better places, and I agree but tastebuds are individual. Not that I would go all the way to Hamilton for a $9 bowl of noodle but I really like their offerings. Szechuan Noodle Bowl was recommended as a place to grab a bite before the long haul back to Richmond Hill. It was supposed to be a relatively new establishment. The group of 10 walked into the place. It is surprisingly large inside with very cool mural to the right and radial cut tree trunks to the left. Hardwood floor planks also made up the wall structure. The hostesses handed us some menus, then off they went rearranged their shop to accommodate a late night hungry band of foodies. Basically everyone of us wanted to try the various noodles. They offer to customize the spiciness of their noodle soups. Something I hear a lot is "spicy is not really spicy." This is totally subjective and each diner will have to meter things on their own. The majority of the us got some form of the spicy beef noodle. Whether it was handmade noodle, hand-cut noodle, vermicelli, etc, it was all in some for of spicy broth. I chose the standard item as I didn't want to try and mix and match the spices. I had the braised beef noodle with bamboo. I have to admit, I really enjoyed the whole dish. The braised beef was rendered properly, the bamboo was delicious, noodle was appropriate for the dish, and the broth was enjoyable to the last drop. The others had issues with the spice levels. Many dishes came out medium spicy - the norm, when most ordered the high heat. They offered to add more spices, but most opted to just have their meals. Some of the diners were left disappointed. For me, it was a nice meal. Not a come back to Hamilton cause I need my noodle fix kind of meal though! If there was one like it nearby, I'd definitely would try it. Place reminds me of Magic Noodle - before it went kinda downhill. A respectable 3.5 stars - could have been better if they had quality control at the pass. Cheers.

Best Szechuan food ever! If you're looking for a good place to slurp a good hand-made noodle soup or dish, this is the place to be. Great food and the price is right. A party of 3, we had the hand-made spicy beef noodle, clam with rice noodles, mapo beancurd and eggplant. The spicy beef noodle was packed with flavor and the heat was perfect! The mapo beancurd and eggplant paired well with steamed white rice. A place worth visiting over and over! The lady who served our table was courteous and very attentive. The place is clean and the bathrooms are well managed.

Don't get me wrong. The food here is great. The noodles are fresh, and I like how they have decent amount of meat and vegetables mixed in. The individual dishes of vegetables etc are also very tasty. So much so that I wish there were more of it. But then, just coming back from the USA where the restaurants were very generous with their portions, I guess I will have to readjust to the portions here. Why 2 stars. Well, service is important to me. There is a lady who seemed to be the manager there. She is great and approachable. But the couple of times I have been there, the guys who worked there were not very friendly at all. First time I was there with a large group of friends, they couldn't get the orders right. One time when I was there with my sister, we were served by Mr. Man-bun. We asked if he could speak English since I could barely speak Chinese and my sister none, and he said no. So we struggled with my very limited chinese to asked some questions on the menu and ordered what we wanted. But then moments later we caught him speaking English to another table. So it's ok to go there if: 1. You are a non-chinese speaker 2. You are fluent in chinese 3. If you are lucky enough to be served by the lady. Great food, but that's about it for me. I think there is great potential for this restaurant, but they need to train their staff how to service their customers.

So my wife and sister in law were in the mood for some good Chinese and we googled and found this place. During the week evenings, the parking out front are free, so to start, parking isn't easy. Once you get inside, you are greeted to a pretty neat wall art. The staff was nice and the place was fairly clean. But onto the food, there was a lot to choose from, we ended up trying their handmade noodles, the beef and vegetable fried rice and the Kung pow chicken. The great dish goes to their Hand Made noodles, those were awesome and will definitely be back for those. The next dish the beef and vegetable dish and the fried rice. Had some pretty good flavors to it, but nothing to really call out good or bad. Their style of Kung Pow Chicken just wasn't a flavour neither of us enjoyed. Was very strong, like bitter strong. Was our cup of tea. It wasn't bad in terms of bad for you, but it's a taste I think you tastebuds would have to be use to. Reminds me of the bitter melon taste, which I know some of my friends actually like. Well, I'll definitely be back there for when I'm in the mood for noodles.

The office is only for Mississauga location.

It is so delicious, the taste as similar as I did in Hong Kong and China. Nice staff with good hospitality service. Amazing experience.

Seating for about 8 -10 people. This particular day I ordered the Wonton Noodle Soup. A massive bowl of fresh hand made noodle and fresh wontons in a delectable broth. This broth was not hot chili wise as some other soups they offer with naked thus place unique. Each bowl is crafted with a different taste and being a small place the chef is visible to see! The attention to detail in every bowl is amazing as he takes time to perfect each to be a perfect presentation. Very hawker/street style! No need to go to Toronto it's all right here. The hours are limited during the week and more flexible on weekend as the there is only one guy (the chef) and a counter person. highly impressed highly recommend

However if you're looking for absolutely authentic noodles and dumplings served up steaming hot with the sweetest owners then go ahead and pay them a visit. Everything was so inexpensive for the portion size! The beef noodle soup was heaven in a bowl and we loved the pork wontons both steamed and fried. Lots of street parking close by but be warned there is not much seating and it's super cold if you sit by the door as there's lots of people going in and out. Seriously incredible stuff

The entire menu is online which is identical to the printed one you can contain at the restaurant. We were told the order would be ready in 30 minutes. About 30 minutes later I was there and picked up our order, right on time. The bags were heavy!!! As we had ordered over the $50 threshold we also received an order of chicken wings, I did not ask about this whole ordering nor did I ask if it was included. I got home and there it was!! For me this is a test of truthfulness which was passed with flying colours. Each of the containers was not just filled but each was packed tight into the containers! The orders were probably a bit less than what we would have paid in other places but also having the containers so filled was awesome! The location is interesting. There is parking beside the restaurant although it may be shared with another business. Street parking is a bit farther as there's a signalized crosswalk opposite the door. Although it has been a sit down restaurant it appears that since COVID precautions that they have kept the seating areas closed off. So no in house seating and eating. There is a reasonable first step but the step from the and through the door is taller than currently would be acceptable although not insurmountable, mobility challenged folks would have greater difficulty and no wheeled services will not succeed enter to here. As the restaurant has no available seating I also note that the washrooms are not available for use either as they are behind the precautionary shields. Additionally at least the one is signed as out of order, this was visible from the pickup area. Overall highly recommended for value for the money and freshness of the ingredients. I'm no expert as to all types of Chinese food but I like to try find out the origin area of the staff as they would cook up flavours of their home area. I didn't find that out by asking but I suspect Hong Kong as that is the egg roll style it was huge! The spring rolls were about the size of four of the more common places. The menu has a nice selection of choices to choose from. https://www.cheungs.ca/

It's always a good sign when you can find Cantonese-speaking customers in the restaurant - and we did. The restaurant appeared clean, although was dated. There were basic dim sum choices on the menu, but quite a number of items were crossed out and marked as not available. We tried the Shanghai Style Fried Noodle, Preserved Egg and Pork Congee, Steamed Sui Mai Dumpling, and Steamed Chive Shrimp Dumpling. We ordered the Pan Fried Dumpling with Minced Pork - it never arrived. Just as well because we had enough for two people and were already full. Of all, the congee was the most flavourful. The other items were standard. The noodles didn't have as much flavour and 'wok hei' as we would have liked, but still ok. I did ask if they made the dim sum in house, and the server (owner?) answered, "yes" but I do have to wonder. I would give it another try for dinner entrees.

With about 32 items on the menu and several items were not available. Not typical to have rice rolls for dim sum unfortunately so you have to order two plates in order for them to sell it to you. Also they were not very pretty presentation wise but the beef one was particularly good. The server and possibly owner of the establishment & chef were very attentive and friendly. You are greeted quickly as soon as you enter and she welcomes her regular customers by name and a friendly matter. Ambiance felt like a former greasy spoon diner restaurant not traditional Chinese style at all. So it is still good as it wasn't noisy and no loud music playing either. Was quiet for lunch time but they did get some more diners while we enjoyed our peaceful dim sum lunch today.
