The customer service was excellent. The woman who took my order was so sweet and kind. I was getting my order to go and she told me to have a seat and watch some tv while a waited lol. When I got home my food was still hot which I loved. OMG the fried rice was soooo delicious. I didn't need to add anything to it and the ribs were soooo delicious tender and good. I didn't stay obviously, but inside was very spacious and can accommodate a fairly large group. This is now my new favourite Chinese food spot. I can't wait to go back and try more options in the menu. read more

I'm always in the search of good Chinese food in the Hamilton-Burlington area. Happened to find Iron Chef Chinese Restaurant and try a bit of dim sum at lunch time. It's always a good sign when you can find Cantonese-speaking customers in the restaurant - and we did. The restaurant appeared clean, although was dated. There were basic dim sum choices on the menu, but quite a number of items were crossed out and marked as not available. We tried the Shanghai Style Fried Noodle, Preserved Egg and Pork Congee, Steamed Sui Mai Dumpling, and Steamed Chive Shrimp Dumpling. We ordered the Pan Fried Dumpling with Minced Pork - it never arrived. Just as well because we had enough for two people and were already full. Of all, the congee was the most flavourful. The other items were standard. The noodles didn't have as much flavour and 'wok hei' as we would have liked, but still ok. I did ask if they made the dim sum in house, and the server (owner?) answered, "yes" but I do have to wonder. I would give it another try for dinner entrees. read more

Very good dim sum for a place on Hamilton Mountain and in a mostly residential area none the less. Quality is very good for a home style non top scale restaurant. With about 32 items on the menu and several items were not available. Not typical to have rice rolls for dim sum unfortunately so you have to order two plates in order for them to sell it to you. Also they were not very pretty presentation wise but the beef one was particularly good. The server and possibly owner of the establishment & chef were very attentive and friendly. You are greeted quickly as soon as you enter and she welcomes her regular customers by name and a friendly matter. Ambiance felt like a former greasy spoon diner restaurant not traditional Chinese style at all. So it is still good as it wasn't noisy and no loud music playing either. Have been here for dim sum with my family many times. It's pretty decent and the staff is nice. The wu gok is good, like the steamed BBQ pork buns, and vegetable dish #113. Getting your teapot refilled can take a little while. If you come with small children, ask for the small room with the door so they can run around and make noise without bothering the other patrons. Tip: they are open on January 1 for dinner but you need to make a reservation. Peking duck not available that day. read more

Came to this restaurant on a Tuesday night around dinner time with my family of 4. The restaurant was fairly empty so service was quick and the restaurant was accommodating given that we had some food restrictions. We ordered the dinner for 4 and was able to substitute the beef with chicken for no extra cost. The proportions were quite large and we weren't able to finish all the food brought out so that was a plus. It was also reasonably priced. That said, the food it self was decent but not great and nothing out of the ordinary as far as Chinese food goes. That said this place offers fast service and good value for your buck. read more

This Chinese restaurant is situated to the side of Upper Sherman inside a burger-like diner. The service here was solid. The waitresses all spoke English to the extent of where you'd be able to understand them and they came by/looked around often to see if they were needed. The dishes here was slightly overpriced for average Chinese food you can find downtown Hamilton for cheaper. I'm not against the food or the service - but I don't think I'll be back, simply because there's cheaper and slightly better close by. read more

I ordered General Tso chicken and one egg roll to go. Upon ordering I asked to have it medium spicy, to which the lady replied it only comes mild but we will include hot sauce in the bag. Fine, I'm good with that. When I rec'd the order, there was only one plum sauce packet and one soy sauce in the bag prompting me to make another trip in the restaurant to get more packets and the promised hot sauce which was so obviously forgotten. The flavour of the General Tao was nothing short of the worst I have ever had. Soggy, small, tiny pieces of dark meat only supposedly chicken in an overly sour-like sauce that was missing the pleasant sweetness of the General Tso I come to expect. To say nothing of the fact that the flavour was off putting and definitely spicy to hot and not the mild I was advised it would be. I have no complaints about the spice level, but about the unpleasant dish in its entirety. I would've given them another chance and ordered something else before penning this review, but, frankly, with the terrible experience the first time, they will never see me again. read more

We ordered takeaway: Shanghai noodles, vegetable foo yong, chicken fried rice, egg rolls, and pineapple and ginger chicken (spicy). The rice and egg rolls were average. Our vegetable foo yong contained beef, chicken and shrimp - so our vegetarian was out of luck. The Shanghai noodles were passable but not good enough the save the leftovers. The spicy pineapple and ginger chicken was bland and the chicken was processed chicken hunks. It was tossed. All in approx $52. We were disappointed. read more

I tried many Chinese Restaurants in the Hamilton area and drove by this one without even noticing it. One day a friend asked if I ever went there I said I didn't even know where it was then realized I pass it all the time. We went for lunch on a Thursday. It wasn't busy the staff was friendly and helpful with many items to choose from. They looked after my friends special request for extra hot sauce on the side. I found the food fresh and flavourful. There was plenty of it on the plate and recommend it to anyone to eat in. Been there a few more times for lunch since and have never been disappointed. read more

When we came during the peak of lunch hour, we encountered decent customer service from the servers. They spoke perfect English, which made it easy to communicate. A larger selection on their menu as well. However, in terms of the food quality, it was definitely not authentic Chinese. We ordered the Peking Duck dish and it was extremely disappointing. The duck was beyond dry and distasteful. The sauce alongside the dish was bland, not flavorful, and extremely watered down. It was a shame to call it Chinese food. It was definitely overpriced considering the quality and portion of the food. You're better off going to Manchuwok. read more

I have been going to this restaurant ever since it opened back in the days. My family and I would use to come here every weekend for dim sum. However, the service has gone so bad throughout the years, my parents just stopped going. Today, I thought I would give it another chance with my husband and sister. Boy, it was one of those moments when we have all felt that we should have just listened to our parents.... The woman working there today was very rude and stuck up. All I asked for was some sauce (hoi sen/peanut butter sauce) that any authentic Chinese restaurants would serve with the steamed rice roll dish that we've ordered. The woman then told me, "no, there's no such sauce here. This is not Hong Kong." I mean, if the restaurant doesn't have that sauce, just politely say so!! Why such attitude?? (And what does that have to do with Hong Kong?! Any Chinese restaurants in Toronto would serve it too!) Then I told the woman that because the restaurant used to serve the dish with that sauce, that's why I asked. And she still fired back with some unfriendly comments. I usually don't write reviews for any restaurants but today's experience made me really upset and disappointed that their service is still REALLY BAD!! i HAD TO THROW AWAY $53 IN FOOD!!! The rice was rancid and as my 10 year old daughter put it " it smells like dirty person that has not washed" The rice was absolutely disgusting and wreaked a foul smell. The chicken wings, chicken balls and everything cooked with the oil was horrible and left a horrible after taste. There is definitely something wrong with the food here. I hope all do not get sick. I called the restaurant and they argued with me that nothing was wrong. I then packed up this slop and took it back and asked for my money back. They would not give me my $53.00 back. They were arrogant and began to get defensive and tell me I was wrong. I had them smell the food and although they looked surprised at the odor they would not admit there was anything wrong nor would they even taste it after I asked them to . They told me I was not getting my money back. I did get a little loud in the restaurant and then she angrily slapped 6 bucks down and told me to take it for the rice. What a joke and poor customer service. The food here is junk and I will call the health board as I am sure there is something not right in that kitchen!!
