Have been to this Kenzo several times now and even though on different nights, there may be different staff, yet the dishes they served us have been consistently delicious! On account of some personal food allergies, I substitute the noodles for rice on the side and they are very good about accommodating me, thank you. In addition to the traditional animal based broths, I have also had the vegetarian broth which has a milky appearance and a mushroom flavour in which has a nice assortment of veggies. Will definitely have that again. You'll find on the middle page bottom of the menu, a level 3 hotness (12 chilies) dish. That is not for the faint of heart. Perhaps work your way up to that, definitely try 2 before 3. At peak times, be prepared to write your name on a sheet and wait until some seats open up. read more

Walking into Kenzo was like going into another dimension on King St. The restaurant was so homey and bright. The interior was clean and we were greeted as soon as we walked in through the door. The tables are somewhat close together so it can be a little uncomfortable as you're eavesdropping on your neighbours conversation when it's packed. I ordered the spicy sho-yu ramen. The spiciness was tolerable and more like a throat burn instead of a blow your head off. The noodles were nice and chewy, portions were great. The only issues I have with the bowl is that there were very little chicken :[ I was surviving off of carbs here... Where's the protein?! My boyfriend got the yakisoba and it was served on a sizzling plate (yay). The plate made it too hot for him to eat for a bit lmaoo but I would've loved it. Great portions of noodles but once again very minimal chicken. The service was consistent on check-ups and refills on water. Service definitely dominates Noodle Me but quality to compare both is very close. I wandered in today on a whim for lunch. I wanted a spicy broth and was delighted to see so many options. The waitress said the netsu ramen was good so I ordered it with ground pork. The dish came out surprisingly quickly and was piping hot. I loved the noodles, flavor, and veggies. Large proportion, fresh ingredients, and very kind service. My neighbors couldn't finish their aburi charsu (torched slow roasted pork shoulder slices topped with marinated onions in ponzu sauce) and offered me the last 3 slices! It was so tasty I had to save the last slice for my husband to try. We both cannot wait to return. read more

So glad that Hamilton finally has a legitimate ramen restaurant! When you first walk in, the space is open and welcoming. The service is fast and they get you seated right away. The ladies working there are super nice and personable too. The menu looks a little... unprofessional and confusing, the English on there was questionable too. They also had a few items on the menu that was had an "unavailable" sticker on them. There weren't a lot of appetizer options but they had more than 15 different ramen options. We chose to go with the TanTan Men and then Spicy Charsu ramen challenge on a separate menu (chose the Level 2 Spicy - it has 3 levels altogether). When the noodles came, I was honestly blown away! The flavours sank deep into the noodles and soup was not too salty, which is a problem I find with many ramen places. It was perfect! Although, the level 2 Spicy of the Spicy Charsu Ramen challenge hurt my throat and ears a bit, but I love spicy food so it was good for me (but next time I would maybe get Level 1 or 1.5). was not impressed by this ramen place :/ i ordered the miso ramen (+ an egg for $0.80 extra). when it came, the first thing i noticed was that there was only half of an egg which is super strange because if you order an egg you would expect to get a full egg instead of just half of it ??? it was also a little overdone considering the fact that the menu said it was soft boiled. the first thing i do with a bowl of ramen is taste the broth (since its the most important part in my opinion). it was quite oily and lacked the rich flavour i look for in ramen. as for the noodles, they were cooked well and had a nice texture but as i got closer to the end of my bowl i noticed that there was A LOT of bean sprouts. about half the bowl was just bean sprouts!! the char siu was flavourful but were small in comparison to other ramen places. the best part of my experience here was the friendly staff. read more

Overall I may come back if there is a special event, but if I were specifically to go eat ramen, unfortunately it will be a no go for me. I ordered the king sized ramen only to receive 3 slices of meat , 2 overcooked eggs(it honestly just looked boiled all the way) some seaweed and 3 slices of fish cakes. Abit disappointed for the amount I received for a King sized ramen but oh well. However it wasnt portion size or the soup that threw me out of interest but it was the noodles. It didn't taste like ramen, it tasted more like egg noodles served at a Chinese restaurant. Could just be me being picky about ramen but because the noodles in my opinion were not up to my liking I was not satisfied with my ramen. I came here once for lunch, and got the Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was very rich & delicious. The noodles were also good, but the meat was fairly average. Overall, if I'd give the food 3.5 stars; the main issue I had with Kenzo was that the portion size was too small to fill me up. The server was very friendly. The service was very fast, but there were also only a few other customers when I went. The atmosphere & furnishing is nice and clean, and is pretty standard for a new trendy restaurant. Plenty of empty tables when we came here on a wed afternoon. Menu is fairly extensive, a good mixture of rice bowls, ramen and side dishes. I ordered yakisoba and takoyaki. Tried this place out this past week, and am mightily happy with it. The gyoza were perfectly done - nicely fried on one side, and softer on the other. Perfect amount of saltiness in the seasoned soy. I had the Nagasaki Champion, and, while it was delicious, it was my least favourite. Boyfriend had the Karashi ramen, which was pretty decently spiced (without hurting your ability to actually taste the soup), while Friend One had King of Kings (delicious, and spicier), and Friend Two had the Sapporo Miso (by far the best in terms of flavour, and lowest in terms of spice). The noodles for each were all nicely cooked without being gloopy, and the vegetable portioning was generous for each dish. Someone below said that the portion was too small - Disagree! I could only finish half my soup and two dumplings, despite my Mouth Hunger demanding I keep giving it more. Definitely will return. read more

If you love ramen you'll love this place! The appetizers and ramen is great! The gyoza is nicely sized, pan fried and steamed with a delicious filling, which is paired with a tangy soy sauce. The chicken karaage is juicy with a crispy batter. I've tried the king shoyu, nakasaki champon, black tonkotsu, tonkotsu miso, and the spicy level 2 chashu ramen. It was actually very spicy but the tonkotsu broth wasn't overpowered. The king shoyu has is the shoyu ramen with double the noodles and toppings of chashu, and eggs. Nakasaki champon comes with some mussels, squid, shrimps and scallops in a subtle seafood infused tonkotsu broth. Noodles were firm and could grab on to the broth really well. Tip, tea is extra, and eggs are extra for some of the ramen. Staff is very enthusiastic and fast! Overall, a great place for ramen. Definitely coming again. read more

We usually have to drive to Mississauga just to enjoy Kenzo so we were very excited to hear it came to Hamilton. Positive: The food is just as good as the other locations. The Takoyaki is amazing as always the Black Tonkotsu is one of my favourite things to always get there (I recommend getting it without the bean sprouts). The wait time was very little for showing up at 7, tho this could change as it becomes more popular. Place was clean and they were very polite. Negative: The parking is very bad for its location and if you don't know the area you might even end up paying to park just to eat there (-1 Star). The chopsticks we got were still wet so they had just been washed and forgot to dry them was a little surprised but all places make small mistakes no big deal. The Price! The Mississauga location is about $10-15 cheaper in total for the exact items we normally would order, all the Kenzo locations have different prices but it's a little surprising the Hamilton Location has a high price like that in deep Toronto. (-1 Star). Other than those problems, Kenzo Ramen is definitely a must try and as mentioned I would recommend the Black Tonkotsu (with no bean sprouts) and the Takoyaki (I'm not big on sea food but it's not fishy or anything the sauce they use is soooo good this is a MUST try). read more

Honestly some of the best Asian type food in Hamilton! A small storefront, the inside seats not a large number of people, but enough that it wasn't extremely busy during dinner. I ordered the king sized ramen; double the noodles, meet and 1.5 eggs for $15. If you ask me, thats a pretty good deal. And the quality of the ramen was great too! The noodles had great texture and taste. The meat was a little bit on the salty side, but flavourful and a good mix of lean and fatty cuts. The soup was also amazing (a shoyu soup base), with a rich and dark flavour. The service was also great, the servers coming quick to serve and fill up on water. I had asked for some chilis and they were able to provide a fresh paste that they had made, which added a nice kick; I would highly recommend asking for this if you're looking for a nice kick in your broth. This place had opened 3 weeks and I'd been waiting for Hamilton to finally get a ramen place for years so I was very excited to try it out. Food is good for Hamilton standards but this place has some serious problems with service. One of the workers even blamed me for being impatient for no reason... who even does that and I never even complained in the first place LOL. the service is also super slow. The staff all look stressed out and each time an order was ready the workers would need to spend a good 20 seconds to figure out where the order went. The other major problem is there is no air circulation so the place is very stuffy and smells like food. Food is good tho for Hamilton standards so still worth going to.
