Netsu Ramen: Spicy Sapporo-style ramen with ground pork
Amanda H.

I wandered in today on a whim for lunch. I wanted a spicy broth and was delighted to see so many options. The waitress said the netsu ramen was good so I ordered it with ground pork. The dish came out surprisingly quickly and was piping hot. I loved the noodles, flavor, and veggies. Large proportion, fresh ingredients, and very kind service. My neighbors couldn't finish their aburi charsu (torched slow roasted pork shoulder slices topped with marinated onions in ponzu sauce) and offered me the last 3 slices! It was so tasty I had to save the last slice for my husband to try. We both cannot wait to return.

This Ramen is delicious. It's especially great for cold days. It's a very inexpensive way to get full!

TanTan Men (on top) and the Spicy Charsu Ramen challenge (spicy level 2).

So glad that Hamilton finally has a legitimate ramen restaurant! When you first walk in, the space is open and welcoming. The service is fast and they get you seated right away. The ladies working there are super nice and personable too. The menu looks a little... unprofessional and confusing, the English on there was questionable too. They also had a few items on the menu that was had an "unavailable" sticker on them. There weren't a lot of appetizer options but they had more than 15 different ramen options. We chose to go with the TanTan Men and then Spicy Charsu ramen challenge on a separate menu (chose the Level 2 Spicy - it has 3 levels altogether). When the noodles came, I was honestly blown away! The flavours sank deep into the noodles and soup was not too salty, which is a problem I find with many ramen places. It was perfect! Although, the level 2 Spicy of the Spicy Charsu Ramen challenge hurt my throat and ears a bit, but I love spicy food so it was good for me (but next time I would maybe get Level 1 or 1.5). Would 10/10 recommend you check this place out if you love a good soup, noodles or Japanese food.

all bean sprouts :( (probably with one or two noodles inside)

was not impressed by this ramen place :/ i ordered the miso ramen (+ an egg for $0.80 extra). when it came, the first thing i noticed was that there was only half of an egg which is super strange because if you order an egg you would expect to get a full egg instead of just half of it ??? it was also a little overdone considering the fact that the menu said it was soft boiled. the first thing i do with a bowl of ramen is taste the broth (since its the most important part in my opinion). it was quite oily and lacked the rich flavour i look for in ramen. as for the noodles, they were cooked well and had a nice texture but as i got closer to the end of my bowl i noticed that there was A LOT of bean sprouts. about half the bowl was just bean sprouts!! the char siu was flavourful but were small in comparison to other ramen places. the best part of my experience here was the friendly staff.

I came here once for lunch, and got the Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was very rich & delicious. The noodles were also good, but the meat was fairly average. Overall, if I'd give the food 3.5 stars; the main issue I had with Kenzo was that the portion size was too small to fill me up. The server was very friendly. The service was very fast, but there were also only a few other customers when I went. The atmosphere & furnishing is nice and clean, and is pretty standard for a new trendy restaurant. If you aren't a big eater, I would definitely recommend Kenzo!

a plate of fried chicken and a bowl of soup

If you love ramen you'll love this place! The appetizers and ramen is great! The gyoza is nicely sized, pan fried and steamed with a delicious filling, which is paired with a tangy soy sauce. The chicken karaage is juicy with a crispy batter. I've tried the king shoyu, nakasaki champon, black tonkotsu, tonkotsu miso, and the spicy level 2 chashu ramen. It was actually very spicy but the tonkotsu broth wasn't overpowered. The king shoyu has is the shoyu ramen with double the noodles and toppings of chashu, and eggs. Nakasaki champon comes with some mussels, squid, shrimps and scallops in a subtle seafood infused tonkotsu broth. Noodles were firm and could grab on to the broth really well. Tip, tea is extra, and eggs are extra for some of the ramen. Staff is very enthusiastic and fast! Overall, a great place for ramen. Definitely coming again.

Love this place! Food was amazing! I got the Sh-io Ramen and a side of gyoza, it was so good and reasonably priced. Service was also excellent!

Oyakodon

Loved this place. It's so flavorful and cheap. I had the chicken oyakodon and shared some edamame. It was delicious as well as was prepared very quickly. I went for lunch but I really want to try to go for dinner. It looks like there is a slight more variety for dinner. Either way, I was extremely impressed so I will definitely be returning

King Sized Ramen

Honestly some of the best Asian type food in Hamilton! A small storefront, the inside seats not a large number of people, but enough that it wasn't extremely busy during dinner. I ordered the king sized ramen; double the noodles, meet and 1.5 eggs for $15. If you ask me, thats a pretty good deal. And the quality of the ramen was great too! The noodles had great texture and taste. The meat was a little bit on the salty side, but flavourful and a good mix of lean and fatty cuts. The soup was also amazing (a shoyu soup base), with a rich and dark flavour. The service was also great, the servers coming quick to serve and fill up on water. I had asked for some chilis and they were able to provide a fresh paste that they had made, which added a nice kick; I would highly recommend asking for this if you're looking for a nice kick in your broth. Overall, it was a great bowl of ramen! I'll definitely be back to try their various menu items (i saw they had donburi too)!

A great place for Ramen. I love going here, has a variety of ramen to choose from, and Kasturi as well.

Service was lovely, ramen dishes were good. I'd go back when in town next or try one of their other locations.

We remembered…read moreloving the food and cool pet lovers decor with large portraits of dogs and cats on the walls of the restaurant - but couldn't recall the restaurant name. We were so happy to rediscover it through DoorDash delivery! We got 2 delicious ramen dishes. My husband ordered the pork with wide noodles and we both really enjoyed it! The flavor was bright, and spicy and the textures of the potatoes and veggies was so enjoyable. I got the brisket which was also delicious, but the pork was pretty special. We tried a few appetizers - edamame, garlicky spicy cucumbers with sesame and chicken wings which were delicious. We also got the buns and did not care for them - which I had forgotten we must have ordered the same before once I saw them. Does not affect the 5 star score - the ramens and other appetizers were 10/10. Can't wait to try more! I love that you can order different widths of noodles from capillary super thin - extra wide and 6 different options in between! They also have rice noodle dishes. Amazing menu + ramen!

The ambiance at the restaurant isn't the best, with the carryout area being pretty cluttered and the tables pretty plain. However, the food was great. The beef skewers and chicken wings both had phenomenal seasoning that was spicy but not too much of a kick. Their house-made chili sauce was also really tasty and it's nice that they bring it with vinegar so you can temper the heat if you overdo it. Service was friendly and even July 2022, they are still taking great COVID precautions.

I preferred the seaweed, which was pretty delicious actually. We also ordered the beef brisket noodle soup, a stir fry noodle dish with pork, and buns. The soup was delicious - great flavor, noodles were amazing as expected. The brisket was tasty but difficult to eat because you had to chew for a long long time, long enough to swallow, if that makes sense. I just let my husband eat all of the beef after my one bite. The pork dish was good too but the flavors didn't wow me. Maybe I should have ordered something spicier - although adding the chili spice helped a lot. The soup buns (5 buns/order) were amazing - super hot (temperature wise) and very tasty. We were almost too full to finish them. All ingredients seemed super fresh. Always cool to see the noodles being made - just be prepared for loud noises, especially if you have your back turned away from the counter. I guess other hand pulled noodle places I've been to there's some sort of separation or glassed in area to see them being pulled, but when the dough gets slammed onto the counter it's quite loud. I would bet each batch has at least 3 slams? I'm sure it's to get the air pockets out and is necessary - I just wonder if there's a sound barrier type option or maybe some funny sign warning or heads up from the waitstaff? We can't wait to try something else from Noodle Me!

What a smart marketing catch to grab those noodling craving urges…read more Well, doing a bit of searching for dinner and found Noodle Me. Let's get in to ... first, off currently Aug 2019, there is construction on the roads around the strip that Noodle Me is within, so it took us a while just to get in to the parking lot. Then we noticed there isn't a whole lot of parking. Maybe some across the street. But keep that in mind if you are driving over. Once we got in, the place is a nice small place. Does have lots of sitting, but slightly packed to fill more people. The staff was very friendly and the menu had nice photos for some of their meals to entice the new comers. So myself, my wife and my sister in law went in new. Ordered the wonton soup, combo lo-mein and their steam buns (thought they were dumplings). - The Wonton soup brother was very good. Noodles, not really anything to overly rave about and wontons were plenty. So an overall good dish. - The Combo Lo-Mein, was quite good. Enjoyed the noodles and a good variety of meat and vegetables. The odd part, wasn't exactly mixed up. Noodles on one side, veggies on a another side and meat. A bit of work to mix it all. So that assumes that all of it was not fully cooked together, which I feel helps to get more of the flavour across all of the ingredients, but to each their own. - and the Steam Buns, those were quite good. The dough was pretty thick for the small appetizers But a good overall. I will say the overall flavour is good and wouldn't hesitate to visit again if I'm in the area, but wouldn't drive across the city for it.

We were quite impressed with the food here...it's actually very authentic northern style Chinese food. If you are not familiar with the food in this region, I can see why some people had negative comments. My advice to you if you are not familiar with some of their menu items, order the fried rice/noodles and fried dumplings and not items like chicken with ginger & scallion sauce. The latter dish is actually a popular Chinese chicken dish that is not commonly offered in Chinese westernized restaurants. I did see a photo of this dish on google soaking in oil which doesn't look too appealing so I would request for the ginger onion oil sauce on the side (maybe it's prepared in Northern style?). I will definitely try it on my next visit. We got the shrimp fried rice and beef brisket udon in beef bone soup. Both dishes were good and I was surprised that there were quite a few large shrimps in the rice. The soup base was a bit bland but the beef brisket was tender and flavourful. Highly recommend this dish if you are looking for comfort food. Make sure you ask for their chilli sauce which is great for the beef brisket! My favourite dish was #519 fried tofu...this was perfectly done and I requested the sauce to be on the side. The best way to eat fried tofu is to dip the hot crispy tofu with a bit of the sauce! The pan fried dumplings were only okay but they did serve it well with vinegar sauce! I will definitely be coming back on my visits to MAC U.
