Namu! I am so happy that you have arrived in Dundas! As a pacific northwester, Japanese cuisine (and in winter, Ramen) is part of our dining DNA. As a resident of Portland, OR, we know what makes amazing Japanese, thanks to several of the top-rated Japanese restaurants in the world calling our city home. Whenever I return to Dundas, I am always seeking out new Japanese cuisine - and Namu does a nice job. While the initial experience at Namu was strange, the food was great. Initially, the staff was unsure if they could seat me, so I offered to takeaway my meal. This became slightly problematic since they seemed as if they had never had an in-person takeaway order. After several minutes, we got everything sorted, and I was waiting for the ramen. While this ramen and Japanese cuisine is slightly adjusted to entice a new market in Dundas/west Hamilton, the food is still great. I was shocked to be enjoying the ramen as much as I did, albeit the $22-$25 price is absolutely too high. It is awesome to see more options coming to the area, and I am sure things will only improve. I am so excited to see how much better things get! The takeaway experience and containers could and should be improved. They are prone to spilling and are covered in plastic wrap that becomes extremely greasy and oily after a few minutes. The timing for orders was way off, since I was quoted 25-35 minutes, and was instead given my order within three minutes after ordering a beer. I am sure the in-house dining experience is much different.

General tao bowl was very good too.

Very nice food here. The service was excellent as well. We had a fig salad to start with which was supposedly excellent. I had the spring roll burgers and there were very tasty, nice dipping sauce and a cheesy sauce on the plate as well. Then we had general tap bowl which was very tasty and quite large. I really enjoyed that. I also had the katsu chicken curry stuffed with Mozzerella cheese, it was very good too. Very rich but good. We liked the whole meal a lot but I have to say it was a little rich for us maybe from eating at home for a while but it sort of upset our stomachs afterwards.. Maybe just not used to that strong flavoured food or it was all fried as well which could have led to it. The portions are also quote large, we certainly didn't need as much as we ordered and would cut back if we come back.

Came here while on a small trip with my girlfriend. We came here expecting to have takeout since we assumed that they would have no dine-in because Toronto had no dine-ins at the time. But I guess Hamiltons regulations were different and we ended up eating in. Namu is a mid-range asian fusion restaurant, ranging from $25-$80 per person. They bring an inspiring menu, transforming classic dishes like shumai and making it fancy by using lobster and shrimp. Or taking a spring rolls and making it an American springroll with AAA beef and the classics of a burger. We ended up getting a some snacks instead of a full meal. We got Sushi tacos which we thought were a little overpriced ($15) for 4 pieces. We think that $12/$13 may be a more appropriate price. And we also got (I think) the Dundas roll ($17.5), also a little pricey but still good. Namu has a beautiful romantic atmosphere with great service. If you're looking for a special night out I definitely recommend coming here.

After many years of hearing rave reviews I finally ventured to Dundas and tried Namu for my boyfriend's birthday. The resto has an amazing vibe, seats around 30, and clean. We ordered: 1. Calamari: there was so much! Battered lightly and deliciously savoury 2. Bulgogi Fries: this was my least favorite because the bulgogi was extremely dry but the sauce was amazing with the fries 3. Unami Pasta: !!! Get this !!! The sauce was phenomenal and the amount of seafood is actually mind blowing. 4. Gnocchi: the beef was tender and the gnocchi was pillowy. After eating this I went home and bought my own to satisfy cravings. The service was excellent. Food came out fast and hot. Waters were constantly refilled. Will be back !

The ambiance was nice and the presentation was pretty, but the food did not taste as good as I expected. I ordered a Katsu curry and my friend, the okonomyaki. It was quite expensive (see menu) compared to other places we've been, and I may have had higher expectations upon seeing the dish. I may be slightly biased since I couldn't help but compare it against Katsuya, but frankly I was very disappointed when I took the first mouthful. It wasn't bad but it was nowhere near Katsuya's katsu curries. It was also more than 1.5x the price. The experience overall wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly great either. I will not be returning to this place because I did not feel that my experience was worth my spendings here. All the same, thank you to the restaurant staff for your efforts and best of luck through these tough times.

We were intrigued by all the good reviews of this Asian fusion restaurant (not many places in Hamilton for good Asian food) and decided to check it out. What we ended up finding even more intriguing was that this is a house that has been converted into a restaurant. It was very cute and cozy, but definitely stuffy at the same time. We tried the... Pork belly bao ($14 for 2, Rating: 4/5) - This was very flavourful and well-balanced. It actually tasted kind of like the Peking duck wraps (probably because of the hoisin sauce and cucumber, haha). One critique is that the pork belly was a tad bit dry on the outside. As well, although this was pretty good and they gave us thick pork belly cuts, I don't think it was worth $14...I didn't take a picture of this but check out the reel on @guoingcrazy4food to see it! Seoul Poutine ($15, Rating: 5/5) - The fries were soo golden and crispy, yet fluffy on the inside!! Literally some TOP TIER goodness. They were also LOADED with toppings (fried kimchi, minced dry aged beef bulgogi, corn, sour cream, and cheese). Namu Burger ($24, Rating: 1/5) - This came with Canadian bison and dry aged rib eye, old cheddar, maple bacon, arugula, beer mustard and black garlic aioli, with choice of fries or salad on the side. We weren't too big of a fan of the flavours, and we also noticed a lack of texture -- everything was kind of just soft and mushy. The buns were also a no-no...not toasted and they were like those buns you buy for summer bbqs. Aside from the food, the ambiance was very inviting for family dinners, an outing with a small group of friends, or a date. The staff were also all very welcoming and friendly!

Quaint restaurant that's on the pricier side and food wasn't really hot when it came but it was very tasty!

I have been waiting all year to try this restaurant as I have heard nothing but good things. Finally enlisted my friend to go with me. Namu is located in Dundas at almost the end of King St. E in the cutest little cottage, homey looking house. They do not have parking in the back but there is a lot of free street parking after 6pm. It is owned by the most adorable couple. We went on a Friday and half the place was reserved and we felt lucky to get a table for 2. The menu is small but there is so much to try! The food is what you would call Asian Fusion with elements of Chinese, Japanese and Korean cuisine. I had the shrimp croquette baos and my friend had the Seoul poutine, both very savoury. For our mains, I had the kimchi fried rice with ribeye steak and my friend had the miso ramen. I would definitly recommend both of these dishes, they were savoury and to die for. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse dessert with pomegranate. It was just the right amount of rich chocolate and hint of fruity flavour. I am definitely going back again to try other dishes! Service was great too!

The food here is great! I've tried the chicken katsu curry, rib-eye steak, kimchi fries and bulgogi burger to date and they all have been tasty except for the bulgogi burger, which could have been better. I like their chicken katsu curry and rib-eye steak the most. The chicken katsu curry is filled with mozzarella cheese, yum. This restaurant is a nice date night spot. Atmosphere feels sophisticated and there's always jazz music playing suitable for the atmosphere.

Namu has quickly become one of my favourite spots to eat in Hamilton. The restaurant delivers both in terms of food and atmosphere. It's located in a cozy renovated house with charming decor. The menu has several fabulous options that follow the restaurant's Asian fusion theme. We started with the Asian Fried Chicken Homemade Steam Buns for an appetizer, which were delicious. There are three other steam bun options that I need to get back and try! The mains were perfectly portioned for dinner. Many of the options are the Asian tastes we've come to love (think bibimbap, ramen, and miso) with an extra twist. The service was excellent; our waiter was attentive and provide suggestions about the menu. I'm looking forward to returning to this gem in Dundas.

    Fried calamari

Wow! This place is amazing! You walk into a peaceful environment with piano jazz music with tastefully decorated interior. It's a small restaurant but with a big taste. We loved it so much, we went back the next night. Miso black cod was done to perfection with Asian flair. Korean chicken wing was amazing! Grilled octopus was cooked perfect not chewy at all. Each plate is presented artfully in a earthy vessels. I especially liked the carved wooden bowl. We also had home made Spanish cheesecake for desert but forgot to take a photo. It was gone! Yes, it too was amazing! I wish I lived close. I would come and eat here often.

    Savoury fig salad

EVERYTHING, yes everything!! We had on the menu was absolutely amazing and this is coming from a serious foodie!! Who would've thought such a hidden gem would be located in sleepy Dundas! Good thing I made a reservation for 7... it surprised me how busy the restaurant was! Every table was occupied! Everyone in my party, even the super picky people - LOVED the food!! We already think this will be our new fav spot! Definitely coming again x10000 Only down side, they don't have fancy cocktails if you're into that. They do have different types of wine, beer and sake and soju

The tuna and salmon tasted very fresh, and the sweet-spicy Korean-style sauce made the whole dish feel bright, refreshing, and really appetizing. I also loved the potato dumplings.. crisp on the outside, but soft and pleasantly chewy inside, with a very smooth texture. The arugula salad was a great complement and added a nice fresh balance to the meal. The real standout for me, though, was the kalbi. It was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor. It almost melted in the mouth, with that satisfying buttery, savory richness that meat lovers would definitely appreciate. The cocktails were also fun and well done. I tried a few, and all of them were enjoyable. Some even had a smoky presentation, which made the experience feel a little more special. The service was another strong point. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dinner feel smooth from start to finish. Everything came out at a comfortable pace, and the overall hospitality really added to the experience. As for the ambience, it felt stylish, intimate, and a little moody in a good way. The lighting and presentation gave the dinner a polished feel, but it was still relaxed enough to enjoy comfortably. It's the kind of place that works well for a casual date night, drinks with friends, or simply a nice evening out.

They specialize in Southeast Asia cuisine, namely Laotian takes on neighbouring regional cuisines like Thai, Korean, and Japanese dishes. The menu is diverse but shows intentionality. The standout dish for us was definitely the laksa. It was creamy and spicy and flavourful. Unlike other laksas I've tried it wasn't watery like a soup but was more of a richer curry bisque texture if that makes sense. The chicken pieces were tender. There were lots of vegetables in the broth. My Asian barbecue ribs were sweet-savoury. The kimchi cabbage coleslaw was tasty but I just ate some of it because I was too full from drinking up the rest of hubby's leftover laksa broth. My ramen-loving nephew devoured his miso ramen. Sara was so sweet and brought my nephew to meet the chef and kitchen crew. She also brought us complimentary Asian style churros. She offered great insight into the menu as well as her brother Bobby's journey into this business and his intention of highlighting Laotian cuisine. I was describing to a friend how at one point, a random Christmas song came on the playlist (it was March). With the warmth of family around me, my belly satiated from the delicious meal, it did feel a lot like Christmas in that one moment. Amazing food (I still dream about that laksa) and awesome staff made for a very memorable dining experience that we look forward to repeating the next time we are in the Cambridge area.

The order was roughly $75 CAD/ $55 USD. The salt and pepper shrimp came with sautéed onions , peppers and carrots. I loved how the veggies still had a nice crunch to them.
