I had the oatmeal here and it was very tasty! My mom had the breakfast sandwich and I took a bite and it was also very good. We shared a pastry, I don't remember what it was but all in all my experience here was good. What was especially impressive was the service - super friendly and helpful. Multiple Australians working here with adorable accents!

I know where I going for lunch when I was planning My Day in the Hamliton/Dundas Area. I always want visit the actual Detour Coffee Roastery in Burlington but never got a chance. But coming here seems to be better as I can drink the coffee and eat their food too! The patio area is so calm and peaceful. And if you are not a coffee drinker, there are a lot of other options including Ontario wines and beers and even house made Sour Cherry Pop and even Nickel Brook's Root Beer! We ended up ordering: Cappuccino ($3.33) and Iced Americano ($3) Reuben Sandwich ($11.95) The ultimate: Detour Smoked Meat + Bubbie's Sauerkraut, Melted Swiss Cheese and House Made Russian Dressing Rueben sandwich was amazing good. The meat was smoked perfectly. I really like their concept of locally sourced and house made ingredients! Detour Cafe is a great spot for lunch or just enjoy all their espresso and other drinks they offers. Now how I wish I have something like this in my neighbourhood....

Detour underwent a major reno in February. I think the place looks brighter!

Fun vibe & good energy inside with neat art work! Staff is friendly. Menu has something for everyone! Mini pancakes, benny, French toast, chicken & waffles and several different toasts (think avocado or cacio e Pepe!) and smoothies. If you like specialty coffees, you are in for a treat since they have a fun option for a mini coffee flight! They also have a kids menu!

Entry is a single door with a ramp on the inside. Servers were quick to seat my friend and I. Service was polite and timely. We both ordered our own "Teenage Feast" which included Two eggs prepared to your taste, thick cut bacon, sausage, choice of toast, served with dutch mini pancakes, butter parsley home fries / salad or half & half. I opted for scrambled eggs, home fries, and rye (they also had sourdough as an option!) The meal was very filling, could definitely be shared between two peckish people or saved as left overs for later. Meal has a blend of sweet and savoury, leaning more on the sweet side. The sausage is sweeter than others (I enjoy this but I know it's not for everyone. The Dutch pancakes are so cute and little, coated in icing sugar, and served with maple syrup on the side to dip. For drinks I ordered the Maple Foam Cold Brew. Make sure to stir/not put your straw at the bottom of the drink or you'll get a hit of maple! Once it's stirred it tastes great. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu (I'm eyeing the coffee flights)!

Deplorable planning of staff. We arrived at 6 pm. and didn't receive our food until after 7:30. They messed up further because one person's food order was missed. What owner of a restaurant doesn't call in more staff, there was only one chef! The food was okay, nothing great! The server tried her best, but it wasn't good enough. I suggested free dessert, due to the aggravation. She hesitated and then did give us free dessert. 20 % gratuities were added to our bill. A further insult to the evening. 10% or 15% would have been more deserving. We usually give 15% but this was undeserving. The owner's may have been away, or too busy to correct this situation. Will not return again.

My meal was their "Nashville Southern Dinner": consisted of 3 (mini) pieces of battered deep fried chicken breast,( over-fried and dried out), and Mac N Cheese (zoodles pasta...you know...something you'd give a kid for lunch) in a scant amount of sauce (like watery "CheezWhiz), and a few pickle slices on the side, all for the high end fine dining price of $29 and a 6oz glass of poor quality Reisling for $19. I couldn't force myself to finish eating it. Sub-standard, poor quality, served barely warm food. They ought to be embarrassed. I made a strong point of insisting the server send my sentiments to the (so-called) cook. Betula is an embarrassment to my hometown! I wouldn't recommend and I will never return. The food is really good however, both in presentation and taste. Service wise, the staff was very friendly and polite, although there was a 20 ish minute wait for a seat for 2 and another 25 minute wait to get the food. Granted we did go on a Sunday at 11 am so it was probably the busiest time of the week and the kitchen is perhaps on the smaller side. The ambiance itself is pretty homey, street parking isn't too hard to find. They sell some near merch and also source bread locally from a bakery nearby. Their patio was closed in the winter but definitely seems like a great spot in the summer. Overall, I enjoyed the place. The lack of non pork protein options keeps me away, but should that change, I'd like to revisit the patio in the summer. Should the protein options expand and wait times be reduced on my next visit, I'll be sure to update my review!

We loved the salad and scarfed it down - super crisp, awesome textures, tangy yum. I love their pasta so much and it's fun to see how they prepare and serve it. I had a delicious highball with root beer and fernet. Service was excellent as usual. Love the vibes and tunes. The patio is gorgeous as well. Looking forward to more. Bonus points for serving the surrounding neighborhood - very convenient, needed, reliably fresh and delicious.

The bacon is top-notch -- it's thick, it's meaty, it's quality. The homefries are the best -- no question. The burgers are juicy, grilled right, and fresh. As for the service, well, you get what you pay for. The prices are kept low in lieu of uniformed, steadfast table service.... I mean, the truth is, when it comes to diner eating -- how much service do you need? One, maybe two refills of the Joe, but after that...a server constantly coming by gets annoying if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, when the food comes, so do the condiments and anything else you ask for, and the staff are all super friendly...but the point is, you're never left to suffer -- the counter staff do make rounds from time-to-time, it's just if you're anxious to get something you otherwise didn't previously request, you have to walk up to the front and ask for it. The Valley Charcoal prices are low, not because they use cheap ingredients, but because they scrape away the useless frills of diner-style table service. I will go back again and again for GOOD food at a GOOD price.

It's similar to taro but less starchy, and it has a slight savouriness to it that complemented the syrup and whipped cream on the French toast so well. The braised short rib was incredibly tender, and that cheddar biscuit - WOW. Literally was wiping my plate clean of the egg yolk & hollandaise sauce with them.
