My friends and I also tried the dumplings, and they were just as good. So fresh, juicy, and satisfying. The vibe of the restaurant is small and cozy, which makes it feel really warm and inviting, but it does get busy (a sign of how good the food is). Four of us came by here as one of the kids goes to Guelph U. The service here is prompt even tho they have just one server. I appreciated that they accommodated my request of no extra sauce on my dish. The rest got ramen. We also added dumplings and tofu to share. We were all very happy with the food. I highly recommend this ramen if you like ramen and live in Guelph. This is one of the best ramen places that I know in Guelph! The noodles were fresh and the broth was so flavourful. The service was slightly slower than ramen usually is ( not slow in general but for ramen) but the waitress immediately apologized. One thing that was strange was the weird was the QR code ordering thing. It wanted us to tip before the waitress had even served us so that was strange. How would we know whether to tip well or normally? That was just a small thing though and didn't really affect my experience. If I could give 4.5 I would, but I guess five it is. read more

My parents and I love this place! The original location we went to had closed down sadly. We stopped by Guelph on our way back from a trip and saw Kenzo had a location near us. We love the server at this restaurant. She's always so kind and welcoming. She even remembered us as we've been to this location a few times! The restaurant has a fairly calm environment despite it being a more chain, quicker eats type restaurant. We always order the black tonkotsu ramen. This is my favourite ramen shop! I usually go to the Toronto location at Bay Street, and this location does not disappoint! It's very delicious and consistent with all their franchise locations. The restaurant is quite quiet and spacious. The staff are also really nice and attentive. I really enjoy their ramen with their really nice rich but not-heavy broth! The bowl really works well together, regardless of which ramen you get. It's not too salty and just a really nice, rounded flavour. I just wish ramen came a bit warmer. First of all, I'm from Toronto and tried a multiple ramen place in Toronto downtown, North York, Thornhill and Richmond Hill, by far this place was one of the best few I would really recommend to others. Recommended by my local friend, I visited this restaurant with two other friends, and we ordered three appetizers to share and one ramen each. Appetizers- chicken karaage, pan fried hand made dumplings, and agedashi tofu; ramen - Spicy Charshu ramen, king of king ramen, and sapporo miso ramen. We loved all of the appetizers. Chicken was crispy and not over fried and their slightly sour fruit based sauce was a good complement to their chicken. Dumplings were very juicy and full to the skin. Tofu was saucy but not overly salty or had that tofu taste you can sometimes feel with raw tofu. I had spicy Charshu ramen with level 1 and it was a good spicy level for me (I'm Korean). I was surprised to see my bowl that it was essentially covered with Charshu and their pictures on the menu were actually true. Full of very fresh veg and bean sprouts i didn't see any brown or old vegs or bean sprouts until I finish my bowl. I tried other two soup bases thatvmy friends ordered and it was clear that the owner had a very good understanding of different soup bases. Each had distinctive soup base taste depending on their main ingredient (for example, soy, miso vs. Pork based) and again not overly salty or greasy. So, I work for a Japanese company, and have travelled in Japan. When I travel for work, I'm always on the lookout for a good ramen place. Toronto has a great ramen scene, so I was excited to try this new place in Guelph, as I stay in Cambridge when I'm in Ontario. Honestly, I was disappointed. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen. The broth was decent, but the noodles were just a bit...off? Bland? Lacking any flavor of the broth? I did have a side order of the chicken karaage, which was ok, but again, nothing to write home about. Also, the soft boiled egg was over cooked. One final note here - the chopsticks. They were a bit fancier than the normal cheap wooden ones, and that worked against them - these were painted, and the noodles slipped off them very easily. I would have preferred the cheap ones, just so the noodles didn't slip. So, if I have to sum it up - if you're looking for quick and easy, this might be ok. But if you want good ramen - head into Toronto. read more

Came around noon on a friday for lunch. They give you an option of ground chicken or pork; I got chicken. The amount of chicken was quite generous. The menu said they drop an egg in here. You cannot really see it but will definitely taste it in the broth. If you don't like slimy thick soups, this dish is not for you. Addition of the egg makes the soup thick at the top. I had king of kings ramen and it was awesome. Not too spicy, just a little kick. We also had gyoza (dumplings) and they were very juicy. Our server Kathy was great :) I went with a friend who doesn't like spicy food and Kathy helped us with recommendations. This restaurant is located in a plaza so there are ample parking space which is a HUGE plus for me. I ordered the King of King ramen with extra toppings and the gyoza- the broth was pleasantly spicy and the gyoza was cooked nice and crispy. What better way to warm up your stomach after a fall hike at the Elora Gorge on a very cold fall Sunday evening than to have a warm bowl of ramen! This particular Kenzo Ramen is conveniently located in a huge plaza and since it is quite close to Guelph University, we knew there would be a lot of people that night. When we got there, we had to put down our names on the wait list and then not long later, we got a table. The two waitresses were super busy that evening but they were professional and served us well. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen ($13) and my friend got the Black Tankotsu ($13.5). We also got Karaake (fried chicken bites). The food came really quickly and super hot! However, both ramen was quite salty. I am not really into salty foods so this was an adjustment for me. My friend, on the other hand, thought it was just right. So I guess if you are not into salty broths, the tonkotsu might not be a good choice. I would suggest getting a miso based soup instead (which is less salty). The fried chicken bites were SUPER delicious and the dish came with a creamy lemony base which I loved! I would definitely order this again. While the restaurant specializes in ramen, you can also try their other non-ramen foods as well such as their donburi! Their tonkatsu looks really delicious! Walked in and they were really busy, the lady told us to put our names on the list and when there was a table available we would be called. Ok cool, only one other name on the list. I can wait a bit. Well it was raining outside where we had to wait, small awning so not terrible. After 10 minutes the group ahead of us is called in. After about 20-30 minutes of waiting she comes out to tell us we will not be served. At this point it is one HOUR before they are scheduled to close. They would not let us even order to go. I have been going to this place fairly frequently, service is usually okay and the food was good so we kept going. I decided to take my family there so they could try it because we liked the food, they ended up charging us an extra 15% "gratuity fee" EACH because we were a group of 6 people (apparently any group of 6 or more pays this fee). Instead of me wanting to bring in more people to try the restaurant, they disuaded me to ever bring a large party of people to their restaurant or to ever go back. I know that some high end restaurants charge this fee, but let's be honest Kenzo Ramen isn't a high end restaurant... I was very disappointed by this experience and will never return after being FORCED to tip 15% instead of the waiters earning their tips just like in any other restaurant of the sort. Kenzo Ramen you have lost 6 customers, 3 of which were regulars at your restaurant and brought new people in, hope that 15% extra was worth it. read more
