Be careful the soup here is really HOT! It can really burn your tongue!! I love soup and it is the most comforting food to eat when the weather is cold outside, when it is snowing outside or any excuse for me! The Burnt Tongue has daily offerings that is no ordinary "Campbell" soup. Middle Eastern, Asian and of course the "Traditional" flavours. You can be a meatlover, a vegetarian, a flexitarian, there will be one that would make you happy! The rustic interior is cozy. Seat here is limited but the turnover is fast. Highly recommend their ooey gooey Grilled Cheese sandwich to make it a complete meal!

Pretty good soups - a little on the pricy side given the portion size. We had the lamb stew which was delicious, it had an amazing texture and depth of flavour. The chicken tortellini was just okay, it had a ton of cheese which was kind of heavy. No new flavours or innovative combinations here, just old classics done well.

Note: Service is a 5/5! Guy who took my order was very helpful and friendly and I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately the food fell short. I think the good ol' burgers 'n fries here are the absolutely WRONG MENU ITEMS to order. Most of the patrons I saw were eating soups and sandwiches, so maybe they have more insight as to what's good here! Yes, burgers are "cheap" at $6, but it was slightly larger than a slider. Patty was most likely frozen, overcooked, and not seasoned whatsoever. It was bland. Waste of a cheat meal! Fries were meh. Guy who was helping us was did try to push the optional "saus" +$1 and only after I tried the initial fry, did I realise why...fries were bland and overdone. We left the bottom remnants 'cause they were a bit too burnt. I've had Belgian-style fries before and couldn't stop eating them. Here however, I was just eating them 'cause I was hungry. I realise it's a different style (double-fried), but I've had fries from a chip truck that were much better! It's a cute, local place and I hope I just went on an off-day!

Deluxe burger (add cheese, bacon and fried onions) and a cup of Vietnamese veg curry soup

For a restaurant that specialises in soup, could there be a more perfect name? I mean, you don't even need to know who they are or what they sell when you hear the name, the burnt tongue just screams an over-zealous soup eating experience. This should not be confused with the far less sexy "Burnt Roof of Mouth" which is caused by hot pizza.... hmmmm perhaps there is something here... .... anyway I digress... The real kicker here is TBT might be known for their crazy flavoured/tasty soups in the 'hammer' but what you wouldn't know about these guys is they also grill a mean burger! I know right?! I had found this out through locals in town and decided if I could have an awesome soup and an awesome burger that, that would pretty much be as healthy as a salad (I mean I didn't get fries after all). For my meal, I went with the Deluxe burger and added cheese, bacon and fried onions to make that sucker really sing. For my side of soup, I was told that a perfect pairing (yes soup pairings) for my burger would be a cup of Vietnamese veg curry soup (sort of like a bowl of Phõ and a bowl of curry (sans meat) had a cilantro and basil flavoured baby. The flavour of both the burger and the soup were on a whole 'nutha level. Definitely 5stars all around. My one gripe (because I was HUNGRY) was that the burger was super small - about the circumference of a McDonald's kids meal burger but higher and taller because of all the stuff. I will say, I'm in no way comparing them TO McD's, these guys are WAYYYY better, just using the size comparison. The staff here are also real gems, friendly and helpful and it's tiny but mighty inside! I enjoy. 4 (and a bit) stars Eatcrest Out

After a small hike in the area, we came here for a late lunch. They have two main options: burger or soup. We went for burger and fries and both were delicious. I wish I could've tried their soups, the menu looked great!

Heard a lot of hype for this place but I didn't find the food to be anything spectacular. Probably a decent place for lunch but not ideal for dinner. The service was lovely; the waiters were extremely polite and friendly. There was also a nice vibe to the restaurant. The Food: Maybe I just haven't had my luck with the soups but I haven't had anything I'd go back for again. Got the sausage lentil with asiago soup today, and it was just average and too watered down. The sandwiches / grilled cheese were amazing though. Price for a filling dinner came to ~$17 (for a medium soup and sandwich) which doesn't make this the cheapest place for a bisto-esque diner. Overall, I loved the atmosphere but food was mediocre. I would recommend it still just to check out what it's all about and might do so myself again one day.

We stopped at this place for a quick lunch. Ordered the beef vegetable soup and the loaded Bangkok fries. The soup was good but not out of this world. The fries were amazing! They had amazing Thai flavours (hoisin, sriracha, cilantro) on top. Would definitely recommend trying them out. And sample a few soups before ordering.

Recommend the signature sandwich which was incredible. Holy Cow was so filling and the meat was juicy and tender. Had the smashed potatoes with both sauces better than old school fries. The flavor was just bursting out of these little potatoes. Washing it down with the house made lemonade elixir was a treat as they make it in house. The next time I have to try the salad bowls or the Blazin beef. Highly recommended to all my friends if you are in the area.

I know a lot of people have reservations paying top dollar for just a sandwich, but I'd say the quality of ingredients and flavourful sauces is totally worth it. I always get the holy cow sandwich with vamp sauce, but will occasionally get the chicken sandwich with lunar sauce. I did try the lemonade they had once, but to be honest, it doesn't quite fit my palate. The lemonade has some sort of seasoning in it. If you've had lemonade from East Asian restaurants, you would kind of know what to expect. They also give you a discount card that you can show for an extra 15% off when you visit. If you're in the area looking for a quick bite, I'd give this place a shot.

Nice and clean inside, the staff was friendly and very helpful with the menu. I decided to get a karaage side dish and a bbq pulled pork sandwich. The fried chicken was nicely seasoned and complimented with the mayo dip. The bbq pulled pork was very tasty but was a bit messy to eat with the sauce and the bun. Overall, I think this place is good and would love other things on the menu especially their milkshakes.

Mind you the reviews were all old over a year ago. Since COVID I do noticed most restaurants quality post COVID has gone down. Ambiance: It's pretty small with a few tables. Decor is pretty cute and modern. Also super clean with one unisex washroom. You order at the counter and seat yourself like a fast food place. Service: Service was good. The lady took our order and the food came pretty quick. We also got there at 1:30pm so it was empty. Food: We ordered a easy as pie milkshake which is like you apple pie in a milkshake! Pretty cool idea. The pics on the website looks great. However in reality it didn't look like the website pic at all. Just white milkshake. There are tiny chunks of apple/ cookies and a hint of cinnamon. But overall tasteless and not sweet. It's was like I was drinking ice milk with some texture. I was not impressed. We only took a couple of sips and it left a weird after taste so we didn't end up finishing it To share we got the Kimchi poutine. It was essentially fries that were not that crispy soaked with Kimchi and some mayo on top. It was ok a little underwhelming. The 3 sandwiches we got were different so we can try them all: 1. Sriracha honey Karaage chicken sandwich. The chicken was a bit soggy maybe from the sauce. The bun was fresh. The lettuce inside was a bit wilted. 2. Pho beef banh mi sandwich. The beef was a bit dry and the banh mi was tasteless with no flavour 3. Bbq pull pork sandwich. It was sweet and flavourful but again too much sauce made the sandwich a bit soggy. Pricing is fair. But probably won't come back. For $50 I can get better food elsewhere.

I love the name of this Oakville establishment, the Sandwich Society, however I did not like their…read moresandwiches quite as much. Let me preface by saying that their OG The David sandwiches are not bad. The focaccia bread was nice, and the sauce is solid where they didn't overdo the truffle flavours. What they however overdid was the prosciutto. Sometimes in life, less is more. They just went 'ham' with layers upon layers of what tasted like the cheap San Daniele prosciutto (according to the website they used ones produced by local Niagara farmers), where in parts of the sandwich that didn't have the mozzarella cheese, the sandwich was inedible because it was so salty. By eating the entire sandwich, I would have exceeded the entire week's sodium intake. By the end, I had to throw a quarter of the sandwich out since it was so heavy and salty. Had they invested in higher quality prosciutto and included just two or three layers of it, it would have been a pretty good sandwich. I remember, outside the restaurant they said something along the lines of if someone ate a sandwich from Sandwich Society, he/she would not regret it like their EXs. But after having one, I experienced a certain degree of buyer's remorse. Remember, "we don't eat sandwiches because we are hungry. We eat sandwiches because we are members of a Foodie app called Yelp."
