Went for lunch with my two girlfriends and ordered the street corn dip.. couldn't believe how small and how pricy. We had to order two just to even feel like we ate something. Our flights weren't great but we said nothing as we didn't want to be a bother. We only saw our server when they took our order and when it was time to pay. No checking back in, which would have been helpful and maybe changed our minds on the review. Lots of people rave about this place but I just don't get the hype. read more

Absolutely delicious. My husband and I chanced across this on our way up to Toronto from Niagara as we were looking for lunch. This place was popping, locals were frequently coming and going as they picked up their orders. We didn't order ahead of time and waited 15 minutes for our sandwiches. We got the Roast Beef and BLT. Both were absolutely delicious. The sandwiches were simple but done RIGHT. The bread was soft and delicious, the ratio of all the ingredients were just right. And the portion size was perfect for us. Drove up to the Niagara-on-the-Lake region a few weeks ago for a weekend winery tour weekend with my wife. Upon arrival, we wanted a quick bite before heading on our first stop...and boy was this place a huge surprise! From the looks of it, this spot appeared to be a small time bakery and coffee shop that also sells sandwiches. Little did we know that they take their sandwich making very seriously. Lots of organic ingredients and an open-air kitchen where we watched them assemble our eats with great attention to detail. My wife and I split two sandwiches...the Grimsby Smoke (brisket, mustard, homemade sauerkraut on potato olive oil bread) and the Bench Bacon (peameal, maple mustard, cheddar cheese on ciabatta roll). Both were full of flavor and packed a punch (it was the mustard on each sandwich that really made them). It was also a good choice to try two different breads as their baker certainly knows what they are doing. That potato oil oil bread is rock star, let me tell you. Took a little longer to be served (than expected), but then again it was clear they took great care and pride in what they are doing. Bravo, team! read more

The Bench Kitchen is my absolute favourite place to grab a quick healthy and delicious lunch with awesome coffee and incredible baked goods! Their sandwich's are made with fresh local bread (from their sister location) and they smoke all their own meats. They have vegan and veg options too! Their outrageous turkey sandwich on multigrain sourdough is my favourite! If you go try their side salads, as well as a treat from the bakery case! OMG words can not describe the deliciousness that was this sandwich. I got the chicken club on the potato olive oil sourdough and it blew my mind. The soft moist texture of the bread is like something I've never experienced. The chicken was roasted and sliced, not dry at all, just perfect. The double smoked bacon blew the sandwich out of the park. Service was shot also very friendly and fast. I love this place and I will be back, I wish it was just a little closer to home. My second time here and I'm totally obsessed with this place! The food is just incredible, made with fresh and local ingredients, not to mention made with dedication and care. The sandwiches (grilled cheese and BLT) are so good, and the chocolate chip cookie is both crunchy and chewy. I come here whenever I'm in the neighbourhood (on the way to Great Wolf Lodge or crossing the border) and there's a steady stream of locals and visitors who pass through. We basically paid 5$ for a medium egg with average cheese on a dempsters quality bun that was so oversized it completely encapsulated the egg. They have a new feature sandwich every day, with such delicious and tasty combinations that I would have never conceived before, but they somehow seem to piece them all together to form a heavenly experience for the taste buds between two pieces of potato olive oil sour dough. But let's say you're not feeling the featured sandwich of the day, I can say with confidence that you can lean on any one of their regular sandwich menu selections and come away extremely satisfied (my personal faves are the Turkey sandwich, or Grimsby Smoke). They all sell some really tasty treats for desert, and if you're into English muffins, or loaves of bread, get on that early in the day before they're gone.
