Came here for brunch and I'm very glad we got here early because the place filled up so fast around 11. Bistro Mirepoix is such a cute cozy brunch bistro with so much charm. It feels welcoming right away and has that kind of intimate neighborhood vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer. I got the pork belly and brie benny and really loved it. The pork belly was rich without being heavy and the brie added that creamy touch without being too much. The whole dish was super flavorful without tipping into greasy. It looked like a lot at first, but it was so well balanced that I ended up finishing the whole plate and even surprised myself a little. Also, shoutout to the service because everyone was so friendly and quick. Definitely one of those spots that is worth showing up early for. read more

I remember Maddy from The Bleu Turtle days and have enjoyed visiting Bistro Mirepoix when we've had the chance. On our most recent visit, we walked in before the waitress arrived and the initial greeting from Eryn felt a little rushed--it was more of a quick point to a table than a welcome. First impressions can make a difference, and perhaps that just wasn't the best moment. The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting, though the metal chairs are a bit uncomfortable for a longer meal. The food, as always, is excellent and beautifully prepared, though it does come with a higher price point. Having traveled widely, I've found these to be some of the pricier breakfasts I've come across. Outside, the setting could be even more charming if the front garden bed were better maintained, as the tall weeds do take away from the overall appeal. All in all, it's a place with great food and atmosphere, and with just a few adjustments, the experience could be even better. read more

Oh wow!! Worth a detour off the QEW- we were driving home from Toronto and decided to stop for lunch shortly before they closed. This is amazing. The food was top notch fine dining! That was not too expensive at all. I loved the notion of a rotating menu that honors local food and is good and wholesome. So first off we pulled up and the store didn't look like much. But as soon as we entered inside I felt like we had been transported to a modern farm kitchen that was quaint and bright. It was so pleasant inside. So the menu is on the wall and It stipulated that is you were seated you are ordering. Everyone has to order something and they have a "just toast" option for those that maybe don't want anything. Everyone sits, everyone orders, and everyone pays $25. Looks like drinks were at an addition charge. The summer salad was amazing. It was greens, small tomatoes, nuts, goat cheese (just enough), cooked stone fruit, warm asparagus, and a balsamic drizzle. I asked for my strawberry balsamic dressing on the side, but that's mostly because I don't normally dress my salad. It didn't need It. It was amazing. I also tried my daughters sourdough waffles, whole cannoli, sooooo good. I can't even explain. Caramel drizzle, almonds, stone fruit, a sugary treat, so delicious. We came here on a rainy Sunday morning and it was quite crowded inside the restaurant. They have a large patio so I'd recommend coming on a nice day, since the indoor tables are very close together. I ordered the Classic Breakfast and substituted the sourdough bread for extra potatoes. Everything was delicious, I was so impressed by the pork belly. It had so much more meat than I expected and was bursting with flavour. My partner got the Pork Belly and Brie Benedict and was similarly impressed by it. We both savoured every bite and finished off our plates so fast because everything was excellent. There is a $25 seating fee that covers the cost of any of the entrees, I guess so someone can't take up a table just to buy a coffee. The entrees are quite a bit bigger than they look in pictures, so I thought the price was reasonable for the size and quality. I accidentally found this place when I was searching on Google Maps to find a top rated place for an early lunch and I was amazed by the quality of the food and service. That first bite was just heavenly. The thick slab of pork belly nicely rendered that I could even overlook it was a bit too sweet for my taste. Despite having a golden caramelized crust, it was surprisingly soft and melded into molten egg yolks so nicely. With all the creamy elements, if that slice of sourdough bread lining the plate was toasted more to add a crunchy complement, the dish would be perfect. I dove into the plate with gusto, dipping the hot roasted fingerling potatoes into egg yolk. How can I make this hour sitting limit last? Try as I might, I couldn't finish all the starches. This benny is a hearty dish that leaves you full all day. Thankfully, I had the sense to get a side of greens ($5), the balsamic tossed spring mix really helps cut the fattiness of the pork belly. Without it, the decadence may be overwhelming. Just one dish will provide enough sustenance for the day, which is perfect for a day out in wine country. Take the classic breakfast ($22) - there's a big hunk of pork belly, a sizeable sausage patty and baked beans as well. A big breakfast to soak up all the tipples of a wine-fueled day. The overall vibe of this place is quiet and charming, with splashes of colour and an understated coolness vibe that makes for a great brunch atmosphere. The menu changes periodically which keeps things fresh and all the items on their menu make it difficult to choose only one! I settled on a steak and egg croissant and substituted one of the sides for baked beans. The sandwich itself was delightful: the steak was a perfect medium rare and the eggs and truffle shavings worked with the soft texture of the croissant. The sides were also lovely, with a fresh green salad to add some crunch to the meal and the beans with tasty chunks of meat which added a lot of depth to the plate. Omg. My sister and I stopped in on our way home. We didn't get a chance to really look at what we were getting ourselves into. The building is simply a converted house across the street from a grocery store. Inside it was cozy, inviting and it smelled like heaven. Our hostess was an angel, just so sweet and attentive. She recommended the pork belly breakfast and it was the absolute best brunch I've had in my life. All the food was prepared perfectly. The flavors were out of this world. The pork belly just melted in your mouth. It doesn't look like a huge helping of food but it was! I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day and the pleasantness of the experience left me feeling satisfied all day. They are such a great gem. After being disappointed that one of our favourite brunch places was fully booked and our other one being on vacation, we decided to find another brunch joint. Luckily I had Bistro Mirepoix saved on my Want To Go list so I figured we should try this place out. Both my S.O. and I had a good first impression on the menu. Everything sounded really good. You have clear view of the kitchen. There was one waitress and apprars to be two chefs working. After a bit of a wait we were seated. We decided on the Pork Belly Benedict w Brie and the Apple Pie French Toast. The food came out in a prompt manner. I was very impressed with the Pork Belly Benedict. I love how beautiful the presentation was and the eggs were perfectly poached. The pork belly was also seasoned and cooked to perfection, and The grainy mustard was the perfect addition to the toast and brie in between. However we were pretty disappointed with the Apple Pie French Toast. We both felt it was lacking in all kinds of elements. It definitely needed some kind of buttery flavour, and it was missing that. I also found it lacked a little bit in sweetness, and i am someone who doesnt like things too sweet. Overall it didn't give me either the comfort and joy of French Toast or Apple Pie. We both found that adding some sea salt helped to a degree, but in my humble opinion it would be better if it had a stronger egg and buttery flavour. Overall I really like this place. The owner greets you with her sweet warm smile and adorable personality. Once seated she brings you coffee...but no menu....??? That's because the menu is on the walls, just take a look around. I love that there wasn't anything traditional, but everything was recognizable. From Lobster Benedict to Porkbelly bacon, it will leave your mouth begging to be feed. I had the traditional breakfast, but there was nothing traditional about it. It included their house-made sourdough toast, pork-belly bacon, pork-belly sausage, house-made beans and pork (yes there was a lot of PIG)...roasted potatoes and scrambled eggs.
