This was a very cool fire station that has been converted into a café. It was crowded, but the server was very friendly and efficient. Our food came out very quickly! I had quiche and some greens with dressing. It was delicious. My Matcha latte was perfect! My husband had a breakfast sandwich and he said it was really good. Super cozy place. I just feel at home right when I walked in. Cute design with a lot of writing everywhere lol. This place is quite large and has coffee, tea, breakfast, in house made baked goods, and beer on tap! Service was so nice and quick. The drip coffee black was very good. And the peach scone is fantastic during peach season. They have a large front and back patio and also a lounge upstairs where they'll have live music! We used to come here on a regular basis but haven't been in a while. We stopped in thinking we would have a quick pint on the patio. We found that a number of the taps were out of service. We placed our order and watched the girl scrape off the foam a number of times before we got them. Once we got out to the patio and took our first sip, both pints were flat with zero carbonation. There was also some black stuff in the bottom of our glasses. Definitely not going back for more. read more

Sunday morning/noon-ish we arrived and the place was packed. Two seaters were available as well as patios (both back and front, in abundance of seat) but it was a tad chilly so we waited about 10-15min before we were seated on a high top in the back. We had a wonderful waiter and barista who served us our coffees/drinks and food--no complaints there. Everyone loved their foods! Mine was the Eggwich sandwich with avocado, bacon in between two fried egg--genius and clever gluten free meal but I wanted more! Perhaps side salad/soup or what not could have been added? Came here on our way back to Michigan from a weekend visit to Niagara Falls. It is a great place for a quick bite and has so many options. Also not in a tourist area, which I was glad after being in downtown Niagara. Unfortunately, I had already ordered a beverage so wasn't able to try any of the drinks, but my friend and I ordered a quesadilla, pumpkin scone, and scones with clotted cream and jam. Overall, everything was quite good. The staff were really nice and there was a lot of space. Highly recommend if you want to go somewhere a bit further from touristy Niagara. read more

One of my favourite spots for breakfast. They make excellent French toast, fantastic coffee, and early on Saturdays you can get unbelievably good cinnamon rolls and donuts. Station One is a staple location in downtown grimsby where anyone of any age can come to enjoy an awesome atmosphere and excellent food and service. They have amazing baked goods, and food, albeit a tad more than other places for food worth the price for the quality and integrity they put into their food sourcing local and sustainable ingredients. You also can't beat listening to some live music in the evening with a craft beverage or a weekend brunch date on their patio all in the warm atmosphere of a refurbished firehouse. We stopped in here by chance for a break from driving on our way to Niagara Falls. Kids each ordered a different smoothie. Green, Berry, and Mango. Loved them all. We ordered savory French toast, chicken pesto panini, soup of the day, and grilled cheese sandwich. The service was friendly and food was fresh. Portions are smaller but fresh delicious flavors and healthy. The vibe of this place is really cool. Shabby chic meets industrial firehouse. Unique variety of light fixtures, all different chair and sofa seating options. As the weather warmed up, they opened the firehouse garage doors to the patio, letting the fresh air breeze in. Coffee was robust and had a nice smooth taste. Bought a few bags of fresh coffee beans to take home. Great little treasure on our travels. read more

You have to stand forever in line to get served and lots of times when I have been there the items that I would like to buy almost always have already been sold out. The place is small but if you are lucky you can score a seat on a comfy chair or couch. There are gluten free and vegan options for food, baked treats, coffee items, and they serve alcohol! Absolutely amazing !! I love the history behind the coffee shop- as it was an old fire station in grimsby. It's nice to see a local business succeed :) The interior is a little old looking, small, but extremely cozy. It's perfect for a first date, or just to grab a quick coffee and bite to eat. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Went on a weekday at 10:30am and it was pretty busy but plenty of seating available. The wait to order my bev was approx 5min, no problem. I ordered the Americano and it was really enjoyable, and sat for a while to read. Will def come again to try out some food, love that they have avo toast! read more

Really quaint restaurant/ coffeehouse. I had the goat cheese and grilled vegetable sandwich. It was delicious . My girlfriend had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious too. If you go on a Thursday during the warm weather months, you can catch the farmer's market. Main Street is closed so it may be a little hard to find parking. They don't set up till 2. No coffee this time , just some Niagara wine. It was all lovely. read more

3 Stars From the incredible breadth of coffee shops and roasters in Toronto it is really hard to impress a person going to a place outside Toronto. These places do exist in Hamilton, Waterloo, and Guelph. In a place like Grimsby you would not expect to find anything great, but Station 1 has incredible potential. As a converted Fire Station it boasts an awesome revitalized interior. The place is ever so bright and has so much space. They also have a big menu boasting many gluten free, dairy free, and even refined sugar free options. I say potential because they call themselves a coffeehouse, but it seems as though coffee is the thing they put the least effort into. The roaster they use that supplies the coffee has over roasted the beans and instead of incredible aromas, the coffee tastes burnt. In terms how they make it, it looks like they know what they are doing, but the grind of the bean is dialled in wrong to the grinder and thus the flavour of the bean doesn't flow through into the espresso shot. Also the way they steam milk looks good, but looking closely they steam much like a "chain" company would. It's not the worst, but it is definitely not the proper way. To put it simply, this place seems to be a conscientious place with great baked goods and food. If they put a little more effort into the coffee and showed a bit more care, it would go a long way. Overall, 3 stars in my opinion. They do things well, not great, but they have incredible potential. That's it! read more

Great location on the main strip in downtown Grimsby. They have a very eclectic layout that reminded me of Futures Bakery. Although you can order yourself at the counter it's primarily setup where you are served which through us off at first since the layout looks more like a cafe. This is a place where you can enjoy a nice brunch with a large group but it wasn't for us since it gets very busy and the coffee wasn't that great. read more

Coffee shops are not generally known for good food, but Station One breaks the mould. The building itself (a converted firehall which I would refer to as a coffee pub) is inviting and well decorated. The staff is stellar! So genuine and friendly. I have easily spent my entire day here, working. Generous options for vegans and vegetarians in both food and specialty coffee categories. Live music on Thursdays. Only complaint is the group of baby mamas with double wide strollers and raucous children who pack in and take over daily. It's quite a disruption in an otherwise relaxing environment. Although I love/have children, I am of the mind that fussy screaming children don't belong in pubs or coffee shops. I've even sat with some well behaved ones there are quite enjoyed the adorable discussion. It's a little jarring when a group of 12+ strollers with screaming kids come roaring in and start rearranging tables for their daily mommy meeting with no regard to the other customers. Pick your time wisely if you intend to stay. Despite generous seating, tables fill quickly during certain peak hours throughout the day and the line can get very long. A testament to how loved and successful this place is. Perhaps a second cash register would benefit everyone. read more

My husband and I used to live in NZ where there is a great cafe culture. We came to station one having heard that it was reminiscent of a kiwi cafe. We were very disappointed. The menu was limited and only consisted of items that I could quickly whip together myself -nothing special. The table order number system is also confusing. Why give us a table number if we have to go to the pick up window ourselves? We had our kids with us and there was very little on the menu that would appeal to them. For a cafe, we expected a bigger range of breakfast dishes -pancakes? Eggs on toast? Maybe our expectations were too high but I will definitely not be coming back for a second cup. read more

For a coffee beverage I highly recommend the Americano . To compliment your coffee possibly a savoury muffin,a hello dolly bar or for the health conscious the greek yoghurt with home made granola and fresh fruit . After seeing this place online, advertising for Gluten free options, My wife and I thought we'd try it while visiting a friend. While looking to order, we noticed that some of the "gluten free" muffins were leaning against the regular ones. To someone with celiac disease ( where eating gluten destroys the intestine lining), this is a big deal! After further investigating, the cashier admitted that the food wasn't actually "Gluten Free" but just made without gluten product. Because of this, My wife was not able to actually eat anything. On Top of false advertising "Gluten Free". our friend ordered a breakfast sandwich which was also a sad excuse for food. It was dry, and lacked anything in it beyond bread, egg and some un-melted grated cheese on top. The final straw to top off our visit was the coffee. Thinking that maybe it would be a redeeming factor, we were sorely mistaken. weak, flavorless and not even hot. We do not recommend this place but most of all, PLEASE DO NOT ADVERTISE "GLUTEN FREE" WHEN IT ISN"T! or take the extra steps required to eliminate cross contamination. read more
