I gotta say that this place surprised me with how great it was :D…read more We were greeted warmly and seated quickly (we had a reservation). We ordered the Miso marinated Black Cod, and the Sushi dinner to share. Also a couple hot teas. As "Authentic" some places claim to be, this one seems to be the closest to an "authentic Japanese restaurant" that I have found. (especially in the area) They start off by giving you warm towels, which you use to wipe your hands. (don't use to wipe your brow or neck unless you're an older salaryman) The Miso cod arrived first and was SOOOOO GOOOD. I was shocked how tender and flavorful it was. I need to order this way more. It's a must try! The sushi came out afterwards. The waitress explained what all of the different types of fish were. The slices of fish were large and thick. Everything was so tasty and flavorful. Also, throughout the meal we were offered more tea. If we accepted they would take our cups and dump out whatever remaining tea was left and then pour us a fresh cup...everytime! It's a small detail but it's so thoughtful and makes a big difference. After our meal we ordered my favorite which is Shime Saba (Vinegared Mackerel) and some Bincho (BC Tuna) These pieces were also thickly cut and very very delicious. So good. We were too full to get any dessert so we got our bill. Yeah it was pricey for sure, but it was worth it. 10/10 would noms again

Our eyes were definitely bigger than our appetites, but the food was worth it! All sushi rolls were made so fresh. The futo maki roll was exactly like my grandma used to make, and I liked that you could order two different sizes. Chicken katsu was crispy and fresh, served with a side salad and the house dressing was tasty. Shrimp and vegetable tempura was fried perfectly in just the right amount of tempura batter. Crispy and light, not doughy like some places. The cherashi bowl was a masterpiece full of flavor and the perfect selection of fresh fish. Salmon/sake is my favorite and this salmon just melted in your mouth. The other fish selections were just as delicious and the sushi rice was flavored just right. Still looking for a hidden gem like this in Denver, and can't wait to return to Canada.

Tomo Sushi is located near the Erindale Go station, which has a lot of very nice Asian restaurants,…read moreso it has big shoes to fill as a non-AYCE sushi place. I've dined here twice and can say that this place is definitely worth going to, with its classic menu and generous portions. When I went here with my boyfriend on a Thursday afternoon, there wasn't a lot of people. We were able to get seated by the booth. The servers were very friendly. Although it took them no time at all to get the soup and salad for our order, everything else took a bit of time. My boyfriend got the ocean omakase tray, which I believe is a summer offering. It has a selection of sashimi (such as salmon, crab, and octopus), octopus salad, scallops, and more. My boyfriend really loved the quality of sashimi here. He also enjoyed the octopus salad though he stated that the wasabi flavour was a little strong. I got the Chicken katsu dinner, which was really good. The plate is huge and I actually didn't end up finishing it. I wish they gave a bigger bowl of rice also, but it wasn't a big deal. We shared a plate of shrimp tempura and that was good as well. We've tried their sushi before and it was very good. Not quite on the same level as the other heavy-hitter sushi places, but still very respectable and their fish quality is quite nice. My favourite thing about this restaurant is their presentation and portion size. Every dish is presented beautifully and you are always getting your money's worth.

On this recent visit, the space felt more modern and brighter overall. The layout is still basically the same though - the centre tables feel more open, while the side tables along the walls feel a bit more tucked away. The family I was with still comes here pretty regularly, so they knew what to order. Overall, the sushi and other dishes were solid for what they are. One thing to note is that the rolls are on the larger side with a lot of sauces and seasoning, so it leans more "Canadianized" than traditional sushi - which is great as long as that's what you're expecting to get. Service was friendly and quick too, so I'd definitely consider coming back again when I'm in the area.

THIS SUSHI IS SO CHEAP WTF…read more I'm currently writing this review as I'm eating the takeout I just ordered from walking in. I purchased a salmon Kamakachi roll. So yum! This is some of the best sushi I've had in a long time for an insanely cheap price. Not only was the roll $7 and prepared within less than a 5 minute wait, the ingredients are SO fresh. Very impressive because I came in half an hour before closing and neither did the rice or fish taste stale at all. Now for a disclaimer, if you're ordering on an empty stomach it'd be better off purchasing two rolls or a combo meal to satisfy your hunger. The portion I got was appropriate for an inter-meal or preworkout snack. I don't think it's realistic to expect a $7 portion of sushi to completely fill you up, but it sure did a great job to hold myself off until dinner in the meantime. The atmosphere is super cozy. I appreciate a non-pretentious restaurant especially for this area. Not to mention the level of cleanliness was great too, nothing looked beat or dusty. Usually some sushi places serve their food way too cold (if you know what I mean) or are overpriced for what they have to offer, but after my first bite it was an instant 5 stars for me. I'll definitely be returning for more takeout or to try their AYCE. This spot is the true definition of a local gem.

My friend ordered the Goddess Maki and Emperor Maki and couldn't stop talking about how good they were, describing both as "top notch.".
