Big city buffet girl finds herself in a small buffet located in a not so big city... haha !…read more I'm spending three days in Guelph for work and of course I was craving a Chinese buffet (I'm a Mandarin kind of girl). *$10 for lunch and $15 for dinner like how can you not say yes?* They didn't really have much of a selection but what they did have I was craving. We went in at 7pm on a Tuesday and there was only a couple and a lady there (I'm assuming they're slow at this hour). This is your basic Chinese food so don't go in thinking you're going to get the entire Chinese cuisine. The service was great, two lovely ladies helped us out. The chow mein was abit over cooked and mushy but I think this was because it was sitting for awhile. Other than that I would come back if I'm craving some basic Chinese food while I'm in Guelph.

The staff are pleasant, the food is great and in large quantity, one combo 2 plate can last me as a widower for pretty much three meals, and I find the prices are great compared to other places I've gone to, the only thing I would like to see and I will not take a star off for this, is more sweet and sour chicken balls in the Combination 2, I only got 3 sweet and sour chicken bslls and you guys make them great.

It is a small place with old style lights on the outside and a name I do still do not understand. All the dishes are cooked to perfection and seasoned very well. Vegetables are very fresh and whatever meat you go with you know what it is. Staff is always friendly and make great suggestions. The restaurant is small but very very clean which I really appreciated as some Chinese restaurants lack in the cleaning department. Great food, great staff, and great prices.

Here's why: PROS: Location - off a main road, easy to find, parking is free Menu options - Good selection of items Taste & Presentation of food - Very good... food was tasty (with the exception of the Pad Thai in my opinion) and the seafood was fresh. Portions were good too. Service - Very attentive, quick and professional staff; conversation toward the end made them even better! Value - Price for all you can eat was very reasonable, worth it if you ask me! CONS: Ambiance - Floor was slippery (literally the entire floor surface, as though it had buildup of substance, it was odd.). Also the seating and general look of the place is quite old & outdated. IN SUMMARY: Overall ambiance is a factor in deciding on a restaurant, but is more important to me for a special occasion or on date night. When I dine out, taste, service and value are what mean the most to me. As for this restaurant, I would for sure go back! It's a great little local spot. As I upload the pics I'm also getting hungry again and that's always a good sign!!!

Unlike the Toronto area that has night owl establishments prepandemic open from 11pm to 2am, Guelph does not offer these services. So one of the few places open was this establishment, when you walk in, you're invited by a hot serve bench, ayce options starting at $4 (if you est two kinds it goes up to $5 and incrementally increases by $1 with more selection. I did not try this. There are some seatings around for 2 and 4 patrons. We ordered the red bbq pork with pineapple and baby bok choy with rice. The rice tastes like it was recooked from yesterday (not spoiled but certainly would not last night -could be from sitting on the rice cooker all evening), the bok choy some had some...squishy sides and it could just be bruising from handling, it was garlicky and slightly over cooked. The red bbq was edible, more on the sweet side. The whole variety came up to be $20 easily feeding 3 to 4 people. I am an Asian patron, ordered in english, maybe I'll try in Cantonese next time? Its definitely a hidden gem if you're looking for a $4 bite that's an ayce Canadian-Chinese, as an alternative to pizza, burgers, poutine, sandwiches... Oh yes they seem to have signage that they take University of Guelph meal plan.
