So I haven't been back here since I was in U Waterloo. This place had selection but now with take out its limited to a menu. Ordered the braised fish with tofu and chicken leg with cumin. I don't think I would order the chicken again it's like 75%dry chili and 25% chicken. And it under fills the container (I only bought it because the lady showed me the container -but frankly I'm still hungry with a heartburn from the oil+chili. I feel like I paid 15$ for dried chilies). The braised fish with tofu and chilies. Um there were burnt chillies on top. It's not fungus. Like it was charred black. Greasy overall (probably the way it's supposed to be made??) The taste is okay but I just found it cheap on the chicken protein, sells more chilli than protein. Pricewise it was 30$ after tax it could be cheaper. This is one of the more authentic places but no vegetable dish options. But it's time to help small businesses. This place takes cash and debit. So lend them a hand. I've had takeout that left me hungry and very uncomfortable. Help! Overpriced bad chinese food with terrible service. I came here with a group of friends and we were discussing what to order. We were asked three times if we were ready to order. The third time the server said "talk talk talk don't order". We haven't even had a chance to go through the entire menu. The menu is extremely disorganized. I've never seen a menu organized with the type of meat and vegetables at the end. We ordered a soup, a beef pancake, some eggplant, and a beef. The soup was okay, not the best ingredients. The pancake was very weird. The beef had some carrot mixed into it. The eggplants were extremely oily and overcooked. The beef was dry and inconsistently marinated. This is a rating for their all u can eat hot pot. It is great value! They also charge for sauce which is pretty annoying and ridiculous but they r relatively cheap comparing to other hotpot places in town. The meat selections are limited but they taste good. read more

Purchased 3 dishes for takeout: (1) Ma-Po Tofu (2) Black Bean Beef (3) Eggplant with Garlic Sauce Total came to about $36 CAD, which is overpriced for the quality and quantity they have provided. The ma-po tofu did not have any taste besides a numbing mix of heavy chilli and black pepper. One bite and I had to grab water, sodium levels are enough for a week; visually looks like dog food. I threw the dish out, was not edible. The Black beef beef, again, visually looked poor. In Markham, this dish would go for $4 at a supermarket, T&T etc.., here paid $12 for rubbish. Finally, the eggplant quality would be barely passable, paid $12 but worth $5. This restaurant really loves to use their chilli spice, possibly owners and chef from the parts of China that loves spice. The eggplant... no taste, light garlic and heavy on the oil and chilli. LOL From the outside I was expecting like Westernized, overpriced "Asian" food but it gave me a surprise in a good way. The interior actually looked like the typical dim sum restaurants in Scarborough. :) The menu was more Northern than Canto and a lot of items had spicy red chilis! We ordered a spicy cumin fried chicken. It was a huge plate but mostly filled of edible but don't want to eat chilis LOL. The flavour looked a lot more intense than it really did taste. It was kind of plain. We also got a stone pot of braised fatty pork! Again covered in chilis that didn't do much. I thought the flavour was really good and it had a good fat to meat ratio. Lastly our favourite was beef in black bean sauce. LOL i think its because it was most canto. Very flavourful and tender. For four people, the total was $12 per person. This is the restaurant that opened to replace King Tin Seafood Restaurant, but they haven't replaced the sign yet. Looking at the menu, most of the dishes were around 1.5x to 2x the price that I would expect from a Chinese restaurant. Dishes with meat were $16-$17 instead of $8-$9. I ordered 3 things here, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Noodles and Sliced Beef in Clear Soup, and Sweet Milky Bun. For the review of the noodles soups, I will be separating the dishes into 3 parts, the noodles, the broth and lastly the meat. Braised Beef Noodle Soup: - Noodles (1/5) - Broth (1/5) - Meat (4/5) Whenever I eat noodles, I like there to be some chewiness, however the noodles given to me were extremely bloated it felt like it was sitting in water for 30 min. The broth wasn't very good either, it just tasted like soy sauce. However the braised beef was pretty soft and the flavor was good. The portions for this was pretty big. Noodles and Sliced Beef in Clear Soup: - Noodles (1/5) - Broth (4/5) - Meat (1/5) The noodles here were the same as the other noodle soup, it felt very bloated. I liked the broth in this though, it was light enough where I could drink the whole thing without feeling disgusting after. The sliced beef lacked flavor and was extremely chewy. Sweet Milky Bun: - 2.5/5 The buns were ok, I liked how there was a skin on the very outside of the buns. However, it was not very sweet. Good affordable food, but a little bit greasy/oily. We were not able to finish everything so had a To go box and we're surprised to see all the oil in the container the next day. Would be back to try other items, could be just what we ordered. read more

This place is new and replaces the seafood restaurant that used to be in its place. The food was authentic and plentiful but a bit on the pricy side. The wait staff needs more training - for example they left all our empty plates from the main on our table while they served dessert. Will come back to try different dishes and to see how the service shapes up as they get more experience. read more
