Chicken knee cap skewers, $3.99 for 2, super tiny portion size
Linda L.

Decent hand pulled Chinese Lan Zhou ramen, but very little meat. It's in the middle of summer break and there's virtually nothing opened at the Linden Square so I decided to finally try out this restaurant. I tried the regular size beef ramen in soup ($6.99), the ramen in sesame sauce ($8.99), and got 2 skewers of chicken keen cap skewers ($3.99). The skewers came first and they were the smallest skewers that I've ever gotten. So not worth the price of essentially $2 each. It really lacked flavour on its own as well if you disregard the siracha sauce on the top. DO NOT get it. The ramen was alright, they gave us a lot of noodles and the texture was pretty good due to it being hand pulled in house. However...very very little meat in the dishes, and beef was sliced really thin. You're essentially just paying for A LOT of noodles. In terms of noodles the portion was enough for 2 meals for me, but the lack of meat is what makes me Not want to come back again.

I've ordered the handpulled noodles for takeout before which were fresh, light and bouncy. This time I came here after 9 pm for the special. All side dishes are 50% off! You also get an extra 5% off if you pay with cash. I ordered four different side dishes: spicy fried tofu, shredded potato, celery, and beef shank which came up to ~$7. All of the sides were simple and delicious! It tasted authentic as well. Would definitely come back again to try other things on the menu.

A very typical and authentic Chinese lamian spot. Noodles were decent and you could definitely tell they are fresh and soft, though the soup base could have been cooked longer to make the soup thicker. Even a small $7 bowl should be enough to satisfy most people.

They gave me complimentary pork buns late at night :)

The employees here are sososo friendly. They all had full smiles, even though it was late at night when I last visited. Once I was speaking to a friend off to the side of the plaza, and the employee left the food stand and approached me directly to deliver my food just so I didn't have end my conversation. Once I bought a pork bao from Song's Chinese Lamian. They were doing a test run of this item, since they were considering putting it on the menu. I ended up really liking it and returning one hour later to buy 2 more. But instead, the owner was so happy to see that I liked the item that they gave me 5 extra :') They said that not a lot of people were really interested and that they weren't able to sell as much as they expected. Sucks :( since I thought they were really delicious - super soft and flavourful. The dough was made from scratch too!! Overall, the service + fair price points + naturally made dough dishes (noodles, dumplings, bao) put Song's Chinese Lamian in my all time faves :)

Best comfort food for the winter! Soup's delicious, super clean and refreshing. Noodles are also handpulled on the spot, it's chewy and bouncy. There is a little bit of wait time but that's expected for making noodles from scratch. Great location, only complaint is that they only give you a few slices of beef, and if you're lucky maybe some radish slices. I mean it's pretty filling for the price but you don't want to be paying 10 bucks for carbs and stock.

This place is fantastic! It's fast, cheap, and above all, delicious. Disclaimer: I only tried non-noodle stuff this time, so I'll have to go back for that. However, what I tried -- Mapo Tofu and Fish Filet in Hot Chili Oil -- was a good level of spicy (though I have a high tolerance), and just so flavourful. Really hit the spot! You also get some entertainment while you wait for your food: watching the staff twisting the dough and hand-pulling noddles is hypnotizing.

Really good noodles and rice dishes. Authentic broth and you can taste the freshness of the noodles. They have a hot bar with food and you can pick what you like. Hot bar is 50% off after 9pm.

Chinese hand-pulled noodles in soup located in Linden Square near Coco. Very small menu selection for this category. I ordered the traditional beef one (L was $7.99 which is a decent price considering equivalent pho). The soup base was very flavourful but I couldn't taste the individual ingredients so unsure if MSG. It came with very few slices of meat and adding extra would cost $2 on top. My friend who paid more once said he couldn't really tell a difference in portion size. It also came with a soy sauce egg which i loved - the yolk was creamy. The noodles were made right in front of you and they were very tender and cooked well. Chili oil was a good decision and wasn't too spicy but added some complexity to the flavour. I got the large and it was filling but not insanely. My friend got the 9.99 braised beef one and he said everything was the same except it was missing the egg and the beef was tender pull apart chunks. Wait is long because they made a fresh batch of noodles.

Noodles 101 - with that magic hot oil added.

Seriously understaffed during lunch and dinner time, my order was ready at front and it took them 15 minutes to pack it.

Caution if you're getting take out from here before a midterm or final, today it took 40 minutes for my take out to be ready.

*4.5* stars This…read morerestaurant has a very unique taste and dishes that aren't really seen anywhere else in the KW region (not that I'm aware of at least!) I saw it on Ubereats and saw there was a BOGO going on so I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised at the complexity and variety of dishes they had! If you crave Asian food, I definitely recommend this place. This place seems to primarily be for hotpot, but I can understand with covid it's harder to see that side right now. Nonetheless, they have many options outside their hotpot as well. I got the seafood with vermecilli noodles for my partner and a Mala spice with fish noodles for myself. The beef pho was a BOGO option so I got them for tomorrow's meal. (the BOGO list was quite limited). They were delicious and I found the portion sizing to be quite nice! The soup was very very flavorful and hits the spot. Again something that I haven't found in the KW area at all until now and would crave (since it can be found commonly back home in Toronto) Packaging, wait time and everything was fine. Why it's not a perfect score is because of its price point. It's a lot pricier than some other places. Their primary feature is hotpot and noodles. The hotpot options seemed fairly nice but there's also a few other hotpot places just around the corner too. With the noodles, you can get the same large portion (but different noodle type, same richness in broth though) for half the price that they set it at here. I personally see this place as somewhere I'd get ever so often, or special occasions only. For student prices, I'd probably look to go elsewhere. However, you can't deny how good their broth is, so it's not a big enough deal to knock off a star completely.

This is the most authentic Chongqing noodle place I have been to in Canada. It is my go-to…read morerestaurant in all of Waterloo. The owner is from Chongqing, and so is the cook. You can request for different levels of spiciness to your noodles. The selection of food is very oriental, so many local students get surprised by the items offered here. If you don't like that kinda thing, you can simply try the beef noodle, which is also really good. My personal favourite is the intestine & beef noodle, as the flavours are rich and the meat is cooked to just the right level, which is very difficult for intestines. The stewed chicken rice combo is also worth a try. As for appetizers, the fired pork is absolutely amazing. The chongqing cold jelly is also very authentic, and it is quite a refreshing dessert after a hot bowl of noodles. Just thinking of coming here on a cold winter day is exciting. The owner himself is super friendly, and likes to chat. He also remembers you if you come more than two times, sometimes even what you tend to order. He really makes you feel at home with his Chongqing hospitality. Tip: the soup base is at the bottom of the bowl, it's best to stir it before eating. Many people don't know and complain that the noodle is tasteless, then being shocked by its spiciness at the end.

Yummy, more like... dummy!…read more These noods were okay but the presentation of just plain chili oil and chickpeas left me wondering why I paid so much so a struggle meal. Superhot was not very hot, and as I shoveled extra chili into my bowl I could hear the owners exclaiming that "ta men hai xiang chi la de!" Not worth your time, I went home and made instant noodles to fill myself up right after.

This is such a cute hole in the wall place!…read more Located underneath the Sage building on Spruce, there is very little parking but some nonetheless at the side where King Tin is. When you enter the restaurant you'll see long tables, high top tables and then a large counter. This is a restaurant that lets you practice your social skills to share tables with others. You must order from the counter and then they'll bring the food to you. WiFi available. Daily specials available as well. They have a self serve water pitcher if you'd like to drink water and not order anything else. Ordered: Red curry with chicken Came with a large portion of rice. Curry was spicy with a little sweet after taste. Coconut milk, large chicken pieces, veg, bamboo shoots... this was delicious! Green curry with chicken Tastes a little creamier than the red. Ingredients are about the same. Very good. Slight Spiciness. Panang curry with beef Lots of veg. Very mild curry flavour. Prob my fave curry dish so far. Tom kha soup? This is a coconut milk chicken broth soup with pieces of mushrooms and we added shrimp. This is a very mild soup. It's not bad. But not my fave. Thai iced tea is sweet. Very very yum. It's not on their menu but for sure something worth ordering! A hidden gem in Waterloo. Very good Thai food.

The place is so cute, fun atmosphere and easy ordering. They have daily specials and a 10% student discount which make the already affordable dishes even more value. There are games on the table to play while you're waiting for food, and service is great. Definitely going to be coming in to eat more often! I got the Thai spicy noodle soup, and it wasn't really that spicy which I really appreciated (but if you're craving spicy food maybe get the curry or add chilli oil). My other favourites include the pad Thai, the green curry, and the Tom yum soup.
