Authentic 兰州拉面 close to campus. Great location: near lot of student residences in Linden Square and it's close to happy lemon. Food: a hot bowl of hand pulled noodle is the definition of comfort food, and you definitely need this for those long Waterloo winters. read more

Great place for hand pulled noodles. I ordered 103- braised beef noodle for takeout. The broth was very hot and they made the noodles very fast. They gave a decent amount of meat and noodles. The prices were also reasonable with good portion sizes. There's a 5% off for cash payment. read more

Song's Chinese Lamian - 103- braised beef noodle - Noodles Near Me - Waterloo, Ontario

First off the location is amazing, right in Linden Square and is the first restaurant that you see! Great for hanging out with friends and quick filling meals. Had large Soybean paste noodle(about $12), which was very flavourful. The hand pulled noodles were exactly as expected, a bit chewy with some body which really goes well with the flavour of the dish. The vegetables were fresh and arranged nicely (would have liked some green onion as well). The ground beef had a lot of flavour to go with the dry noodles to balance it out (a bit salty overall but that's ok). Portion was good compared to similar noodle places. Had a bit of a wait for food and there wasn't water available (tank ran out, so had to wait a bit) but understandable since it's not a typical restaurant and more of a stall with seating. They also have 50% off on side dishes after 9pm which are worth a try, especially the shredded spicy and sweet potato! read more

So we stopped by this place just for coco bbt and we were going to go somewhere else for food originally. That day was the first major snow storm to hit Waterloo so we knew parking in a plaza would be a nightmare so opted for food in this food court. Honestly this place never got on my radar but saw how popular it was with Uber eats traffic and the aromas lured us in. We ordered the #1 large size and if you eat there, they're so accommodating they bring you the food and when we left my bf wanted to save his soup for later and the kind woman topped it up for free. I think it's family owned but definitely coming back here again! read more

Song's Chinese Lamian - #1 large size bowl (sorry forgot name of dish) - Noodles Near Me - Waterloo, Ontario

Decent hand pulled Chinese Lan Zhou ramen, but very little meat. It's in the middle of summer break and there's virtually nothing opened at the Linden Square so I decided to finally try out this restaurant. I tried the regular size beef ramen in soup ($6.99), the ramen in sesame sauce ($8.99), and got 2 skewers of chicken keen cap skewers ($3.99). The skewers came first and they were the smallest skewers that I've ever gotten. So not worth the price of essentially $2 each. It really lacked flavour on its own as well if you disregard the siracha sauce on the top. DO NOT get it. The ramen was alright, they gave us a lot of noodles and the texture was pretty good due to it being hand pulled in house. However...very very little meat in the dishes, and beef was sliced really thin. You're essentially just paying for A LOT of noodles. In terms of noodles the portion was enough for 2 meals for me, but the lack of meat is what makes me Not want to come back again. read more

I've ordered the handpulled noodles for takeout before which were fresh, light and bouncy. This time I came here after 9 pm for the special. All side dishes are 50% off! You also get an extra 5% off if you pay with cash. I ordered four different side dishes: spicy fried tofu, shredded potato, celery, and beef shank which came up to ~$7. All of the sides were simple and delicious! It tasted authentic as well. Would definitely come back again to try other things on the menu. read more

A very typical and authentic Chinese lamian spot. Noodles were decent and you could definitely tell they are fresh and soft, though the soup base could have been cooked longer to make the soup thicker. Even a small $7 bowl should be enough to satisfy most people. read more

The employees here are sososo friendly. They all had full smiles, even though it was late at night when I last visited. Once I was speaking to a friend off to the side of the plaza, and the employee left the food stand and approached me directly to deliver my food just so I didn't have end my conversation. Once I bought a pork bao from Song's Chinese Lamian. They were doing a test run of this item, since they were considering putting it on the menu. I ended up really liking it and returning one hour later to buy 2 more. But instead, the owner was so happy to see that I liked the item that they gave me 5 extra :') They said that not a lot of people were really interested and that they weren't able to sell as much as they expected. Sucks :( since I thought they were really delicious - super soft and flavourful. The dough was made from scratch too!! Overall, the service + fair price points + naturally made dough dishes (noodles, dumplings, bao) put Song's Chinese Lamian in my all time faves :) read more

Song's Chinese Lamian - They gave me complimentary pork buns late at night :) - Noodles Near Me - Waterloo, Ontario

Best comfort food for the winter! Soup's delicious, super clean and refreshing. Noodles are also handpulled on the spot, it's chewy and bouncy. There is a little bit of wait time but that's expected for making noodles from scratch. Great location, only complaint is that they only give you a few slices of beef, and if you're lucky maybe some radish slices. I mean it's pretty filling for the price but you don't want to be paying 10 bucks for carbs and stock. read more

Noodles are amazing! Soup/broth is great! My only reccommendation is that they add more meat to their portions. However, it is worth adding the extra $2 to get more meat. The La Mian is perfect for the winter season and it makes you feel nice and warm. read more

This place is fantastic! It's fast, cheap, and above all, delicious. Disclaimer: I only tried non-noodle stuff this time, so I'll have to go back for that. However, what I tried -- Mapo Tofu and Fish Filet in Hot Chili Oil -- was a good level of spicy (though I have a high tolerance), and just so flavourful. Really hit the spot! You also get some entertainment while you wait for your food: watching the staff twisting the dough and hand-pulling noddles is hypnotizing. read more

Noodles and broth are good. You can tell noodles hand pulled, very bouncy. Broth is also flavourful. Hot bar is good, cheap after 9pm. Chicken gizzards were a little salty, but goes well with noodles. read more

Chinese hand-pulled noodles in soup located in Linden Square near Coco. Very small menu selection for this category. I ordered the traditional beef one (L was $7.99 which is a decent price considering equivalent pho). The soup base was very flavourful but I couldn't taste the individual ingredients so unsure if MSG. It came with very few slices of meat and adding extra would cost $2 on top. My friend who paid more once said he couldn't really tell a difference in portion size. It also came with a soy sauce egg which i loved - the yolk was creamy. The noodles were made right in front of you and they were very tender and cooked well. Chili oil was a good decision and wasn't too spicy but added some complexity to the flavour. I got the large and it was filling but not insanely. My friend got the 9.99 braised beef one and he said everything was the same except it was missing the egg and the beef was tender pull apart chunks. Wait is long because they made a fresh batch of noodles. read more

We ordered the original beef lamian - the portions are big and the broth is delicious. The noodles are a lil thick for our liking and maybe some chopped cilantro will help to make it even better. Looking forward to enjoying it again when the weather turns colder. Yum! read more

Seriously understaffed during lunch and dinner time, my order was ready at front and it took them 15 minutes to pack it.

Caution if you're getting take out from here before a midterm or final, today it took 40 minutes for my take out to be ready.

Overpriced noodle soups. Tastes decent though. I usually come here after 9:00pm to get their cold dishes, which are half priced after this point. $2.50 for a small container packed with sliced beef or shredded chicken in chili oil, which is a good deal and actually pretty tasty. Combine this with rice and veggies you made yourself for a cheap late dinner. read more

This is a solid hand pulled noodles place - fresh noodles and tasty broth. And the hot chili oil near the utensils is OFF THE HOOK. So good - makes everything better. The only thing is that the meat portions are pretty small, even for a light eater like me, but overall this is a great choice for soup noodles. read more

Messed up order (missed many ingredients) after extremely long wait of ~25 minutes for the Szechuan Mala bowl. Extremely unapologetic and took it back without batting an eye as if this was normal. Noodles tasted uncooked. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Decent lamian place - noodles can be seen hand pulled behind the counter, they have the ideal thickness in my opinion and they taste springy like they should be. The soup broths are great too, although the amount of toppings such as meat and veggies is somewhat disappointing. They have a stand beside the counter with the usual fixings of soy sauce, vinegar, and chilli oil - with the chilli oil being pretty tasty and consequently my go-to extra. Somewhat pricey for what they have to offer but nonetheless I would recommend to those who enjoy springy noodles in a savoury soup! read more

Noodles had good texture and the broth was okay. Their side dishes are good and very flavourful. Downfall is the amount of meat they give you..tbh theres more meat on a drumstick than the bowl of noodles read more

The noodle and broth is so good but they barely give you any meat. I got the braised beef noodle and the braised beef that they give you is cut up into small dime sized pieces that adds up to barely a spoonful. There's no veggie and egg (except scallion and cilantro) included in it either. I understand if that is the style of the noodle but it really doesn't justify the price increase from $6.99 of a regular to 9.99 to braised beef when it is the same broth and same amount of noodle. The difference between the two is that the more expensive one had less protein. It came up to $12 something with tips but it literally came with one cut up piece of braised beef. I'd still recommend this place but just expect 97% noodles and broth even if its called braised beef noodle. read more

Tried their lamb noodle soup...food was average and veryyyyy long wait for the food to come out. We waited close to 20-30mins to get our food. I thought foodcourt food was supposed to be fast? They didn't mention that it will take that long- we would have left. Not recommended to come here if you want to grab a quick bite. read more

I had Lanzhou beef noodle soup: to me it was a ripoff: though the portion was generous, there was hardly any beef (maybe ~1.5 piece). And there was a boil egg with a large amount of noodles. Hence I think this beef noodle soup was misleading by its name. read more
