10/10 would recommend I've been getting delivery from here for a while now, so I knew the food was good, but this was my first time actually going to the restaurant and eating in! The place is so cute, fun atmosphere and easy ordering. They have daily specials and a 10% student discount which make the already affordable dishes even more value. There are games on the table to play while you're waiting for food, and service is great. Definitely going to be coming in to eat more often! I got the Thai spicy noodle soup, and it wasn't really that spicy which I really appreciated (but if you're craving spicy food maybe get the curry or add chilli oil). This is such a cute hole in the wall place! Located underneath the Sage building on Spruce, there is very little parking but some nonetheless at the side where King Tin is. When you enter the restaurant you'll see long tables, high top tables and then a large counter. This is a restaurant that lets you practice your social skills to share tables with others. You must order from the counter and then they'll bring the food to you. WiFi available. Daily specials available as well. They have a self serve water pitcher if you'd like to drink water and not order anything else. Ordered: Red curry with chicken Came with a large portion of rice. Curry was spicy with a little sweet after taste. Coconut milk, large chicken pieces, veg, bamboo shoots... this was delicious! Green curry with chicken Tastes a little creamier than the red. Ingredients are about the same. Very good. Slight Spiciness. Panang curry with beef Lots of veg. Very mild curry flavour. Prob my fave curry dish so far. Tom kha soup? This is a coconut milk chicken broth soup with pieces of mushrooms and we added shrimp. This is a very mild soup. It's not bad. But not my fave. Thai iced tea is sweet. Very very yum. Thai food cravings I've heard so many good reviews about @mimo_thai_kitchen and was very excited to try out one of the few places that serves Khao Soi - sweet, medium spiced curry broth served with wonton noodles, stewed beef, coconut cream, and topped with crispy fried noodles. Their Green Curry was also savory but as expected, super super spicy lol with Thai eggplant, bamboo shoots, long green beans, coconut milk, basil, galanga, and lime leaf. Visited this place a few times with my friend, it is our go to place for Thai food in Waterloo. It's not your traditional sit down and dine restaurant. You order your food first at the counter and get your food after you choose a seat. Also, they offer student discounts as well everyday! The food is quite tasty, they have a generous selection for a smaller restaurant. My favourite dish to order is the Shrimp Pad Thai. It is a good portion size as well, I always barely finish the entire plate. When it gets busier, there is not a lot of table space so that is one detail to note if you are going with a larger group. The tables each have a mini game to play which is really cute. As well, staff is always friendly whenever I visit. read more

A very cute thai restaurant in Sage 2 building. You order your food at the back and you could pick for here or to go. If for here, they will bring you the food to where you're sitting. They also have Skip the Dishes service! Prices are pretty reasonable, $10-15 per person. Daily specials are around $10. Add $1.50 for a thai iced tea. Service was excellent and the employees were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered one Khao Piek San and one Pad See Ew. The Khao Piek San is thai udon noodles with pulled chicken (soup). The noodle texture wasn't too thick or chewy - perfect for our likings. The broth however got more and more salty as we ate. We were also given some fish sauce and dried garlic sauce with the noodles. The fish sauce doesn't taste like the fish sauce used with vietnamese vermicelli at all. It was salty and had a very strong old fish smell - rather unpleasant. The dired garlic sauce was better, strong garlic taste and the dried garlic was a little chewy - like dried papaya kinda texture. The Pad See Ew was okay. I loved the wide noodles. Not too thick or chewy also. It's kinda like the chinese rice rolls but unrolled and cut into smaller pieces.The only downside was the fri egg. Truly a hidden gem in the Waterloo region. I've been struggling to find an eatery near the universities that I can confidently say I would get everyday. This place has the best Thai food and the best Asian food for its price. An average meal costs about $10 and the portions are plenty. Everything is super fragrant and flavorful: the quintessential qualities of good Thai food. I had the special Thai fried rice and the panang beef curry: both were the best food I've had in Waterloo in a while. They also serve Thai tea for $1.50 extra with a meal, arguably some of the best I've had. It's not cloyingly sweet as others. I am definitely looking forward to coming back when I return to the Waterloo region. read more

The service was nice and quick and the place looked clean. Prices are a little higher than average but if you're a student you get 10% off! I found a new go-to casual restaurant in Waterloo! I cannot believe I didn't find out about Mimo Thai until just recently. Clean restaurant, affordable prices, and tasty food! I got the pad see ew and the five flavour beef, both were great. All their dishes come with an ample amount of fresh vegetables which is definitely something that is lacking in a lot of restaurants, especially in Waterloo. The rice noodles in the pad see ew tasted fresh and the flavours were incorporated well. Note: I asked for their chilli oil jar to try and when I tried a few drops, IT WAS SPICY. I am terrible with spice, but still, I think it was quite a spicy oil so try a little bit first before you douse it on. read more

This is our go-to Thai place in Waterloo. I usually get either the green curry or the pad Thai which are both pretty good. They can make their dishes spicy if you ask and the spice is good and pretty strong. They have a student discount (I think it's $2 off a meal) and they have daily specials. Mimo thai is one of my favorite places in Waterloo for well priced and tasty Thai food! They have discounts for students and they have a daily deal so for a good portion of food, it's less than $15. My favourite dish from here is probably the pad see ew. The red and green curry is also good. They have a good deal on the Thai iced tea (I think $1.5 if you buy a meal)! Relatively new Thai place in Waterloo and so far this is probably one of my favourites. Decided to check it out on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Wasn't full but it was pretty busy. They don't have the best ventilation however, so it feels a little stuffy and humid after a while. So it's a cross between a restaurant and a fast food restaurant. When you arrive, you order and pay at the counter and then they bring the food to you later. They also have daily specials so that's a bonus. Now to the food. We order the chicken pad thai, which happens to be the Friday special ($11 with the choice of chicken or beef, regularly $12) and the green curry (I think it waa around $10.50). Personally, I liked the green curry better (it was actually spicy). The pad thai was on the saucey side but still good. Each dish is enough for 1 person so I wouldn't recommend splitting a dish between 2 people. Most memorable part of my meal, however, was definitely the thai iced tea. It was so creamy and flavourful, a must try! Only $1.50 with purchase of $9 or more or $3.50 on its own. Definitely coming back if I'm in the area! read more

Best thai in Kw! I have a lot of dietary restrictions and the server was super helpful. I ended up having the Penang and a thai iced tea. It was super cheap and delicious! The penang had great flavour and was a very reasonable portion. the thai tea wasn't too sweet and is half the price of other thai restaurants. Usually we go to My Thai, but they closed early, so we had to find a new Thai place. Mimo's menu is more limited, but the food was cooked well and fast. The ambiance is more of a kitchen, but it's very modern. Would come again, but I hope they improve the ventilation. It did smell good but was also a bit smoky. This is one of those little gems, oft-overlooked with a slightly non-conventional and really interesting menu of thai dishes on offer. I particularly recommend getting the Thai Milk tea to go along with the food as its freshly prepared and has this nice almost creamy texture to it. I am from Toronto and visiting Waterloo. Found this little Thai place. I had the Khao Soi here and chef did a very good job. The broth is very fragrant and flavourful. Love the bone in chicken. The broth goes very well with the soft and fried noodle. Chef is also thoughtful to place some raw shallot and lime on the side along with sour pickled vegetable. The pickled vegetable was a bit sharp for my taste. This place reminds me of Khao San Road in Toronto but I have to say the Khao Soi here tastes better. Only think I would complain is the kitchen ventilation is not strong enough for the super hot stir fry. But I will definitely come back again if I visit Waterloo again. read more

This is some of the best decently priced Thai food in the area. I got the Pad Thai and Thai Milk Tea, both of which were very good. The pad thai was around $12 and, at its price point, was very flavourful. The milk tea is usually around $3 on its own, but when you order with food it's only $1.50 which is fairly priced. The service is also excellent. The girl who served us, Rita, was friendly and recommended the green curry for my friend which we thoroughly enjoyed. They also have daily deals at which one dish on their menu is a reduced price, so you can save a couple of bucks depending on what you get, and on which day. The space is kind of small, but very bright and open. There are three or four long tables with chairs lining them on either side. It was pretty empty when I went but I can imagine it being a little bit awkward when it gets busier. Otherwise, the place is cute and the food is great! read more

Just had lunch here and I ordered the chicken pad gra pow and papaya salad. Pad gra pow was awesome a 5/5 I love the portion size, super flavourful and not too oily and just the right about of spice for my liking! Papaya salad was 3.5/5, could use a bit more lime/tamarind and maybe less fish sauce but the portion size was great for what you pay. I wish they would have asked me the spice level since it too spicy for me (and I usually really like spicy foods).
