Green curry chicken and four flamed fish

I have to agree with the other Yelpers - this is currently the best Thai place in KW. You can park in the plaza parking lot on Charles St for free at night and on Sundays. It's also a short walk from the bus terminal. The Thai curries are pretty standard and come in decent portion sizes. What really impresses me is the four flamed fish dish. It's a bit spicier than what I'm used to, but the flavours are wonderful. The Summer platter is a good appetizer dish - I loved the crispy tofu and coconut shrimp. The service has been consistently attentive and quick. The plaza it is located in looks a bit run down and shabby, and I feel like they could use a new storefront, but the indoor ambience and decor is clean and lovely. The food prices are very reasonable, too (in comparison to some other overpriced places in the area.. looking at you, My Thai). Overall, I highly recommend eating here!

Coconut Shrimp - more coconut flavour yum than other restaurants

Thank you Yelp for introducing this restaurant to us. My hubby and I both enjoyed our Green Curry and Pad Thai as well as Coconut Shrimp. Everything we tried tasted great and seemed on par with other highly acclaimed Thai restaurants in Toronto. There are huge painting decorations one showing a golden tree and another one showing some Thai symbol(?). There is also a TV showing the news channel CP 24. The service was quick and efficient. Assuming the new regional light rail trains will be running soon, you will be able to get here by arriving at the Queen LRT station. There is also a parking lot along the Charles Street. Do not park behind the restaurant on the Church Street because that's a private lot for residents in the area.

3.5/5, +.5 for service. I came here on a quiet day for lunch; surprising since I thought this would be a busy place. Either way, it was a rather subtle atmosphere inside and I felt anything higher than my whisper voice would be too loud for the restaurant. The menu could've been organized a little better. It was a little weird how the main course noodle dish stuff was at the last page, and the drinks were somewhere near the first page. I ordered the pad thai, as that's what I usually order in authentic Thai restaurants. There were some reviews around where they say it would be a 15-20 minute wait for my food, but I only waited about 5 minutes, which somewhat surprised me. The portions were huge for $9.50; I wasn't able to finish it all and had to pack it home. Generally I don't pack food home for lunch, but the pad thai tasted so good and saucy I just had to. However, there was a slightest bit of sand in my initial portion, but that was gone as I continued on with my food. Service was excellent. They approached me three times to make sure my food was okay, and when I told them about the slight sand in my food they insisted on giving me another pad thai, but I told them it's okay and that it was tasty regardless. Thai Bistro and Northern Thai are both very good Thai places in Kitchener, and I highly recommend both.

Chicken green curry with sticky rice added on the side

The interior was absolutely adorable and the dishes were served on cute dishes and seemed totally authentic! I had the green curry with chicken and ordered a side of sticky rice! For all dishes, rice is not included and you need to order it on the side. You can choose between jasmine rice (1$ something) which comes in a regular bowl; or sticky rice (2$ something) that comes in a woven basket. All the other curry dishes my group ordered was good too! Be weary though! The spicy level on dishes where you can add spicy start at a pretty spicy level!

Chicken pad Thai to go

Reliable and quick for takeaway! Called for my order and as promised, ready to pick up within 10 minutes! This is my first time trying this restaurant and while the service (as far as I can say about takeout) was good, the food is a bit lackluster for me. Not that it's bad but lacked a bit of a tangy kick I like with my Pad Thai. Though the ratio and portion is decent, I found the chicken is kind of dry. Overall, I've had better but it's still average and for anyone who's having a craving for pad Thai, a good option to consider. My friend says their fried calamari is good so I might give that a try!

Pad thai - $10

I haven't had too much Thai food in the Waterloo region (besides Thai Express) so it was an exciting feeling to discover an authentic Thai place in Kitchener within driving distance from us. It was an interesting experience walking towards Northern Thai because it was dark and dim on the streets, the building looked old and run down from the outside, but once you walk in - it's bright and beautiful decor everywhere. They had a large variety of dishes at decent prices, I myself got the regular Chicken Pad Thai, and it was pretty good, a bit sour for my liking but still not too bad. The Pad Thai was super filling and the portions were larger than normal. I tried my friend's curry and it was superb. It was flavourful, distinctly good and went well with the meats / vegetables in the curry. That's where most of my ratings came from. Everybody seemed to enjoy their dishes!

Chicken Pad Thai (with really dry chicken). The portion was decently sized.

Came here on a recommendation from a friend saying that they have the best Pad Thai in KW. Ordered three dishes: Chicken Pad Thai, Sweet Basil Beef, and Pineapple Curry with Chicken. In all three dishes the meat was really dry. There was nothing special about the Sweet Basil Beef, couldn't really taste the basil. The flavour of the curry and pad Thai were good, but once again nothing too special. Service was good, our server filled our waters and got us an extra bowl of rice when we wanted it. This place is a little disappointing and I would recommend eating at My Thai instead (uptown Waterloo) for better quality food and the same price.

Awesome Thai resturant in Kitchener. The ambience was great. The resturant is located near to Charles Street Terminal. Although it looks dull from outside, the interior is far more delightful. As usual they will welcome you with hot tea. You can choose any one from the three varieties, jasmine, green or ginger. They had authentic Thai appetizers, lunch and dinner. The Chicken Satay was really delicious. As the skewer was freshly made they took little time serve, but it was worth waiting. We also ordered Green chicken curry and mango chicken which was good too. Next time we would to try pineapple shrimp. I would highly recommend this to my friends.

Great food and service. Authentic Thai food. I had the Panang Curry and my co-worker had the drunken noodles. Prices were excellent!

Som Tum is the best ever in KW and so authentic. Love it. But crispy tofu and sticky rice weren't that good.

Soi Thaifoon - Pad Thai

Soi Thaifoon

recently tried Soi Thaifoon, and while it's not the most authentic Thai food (which I'm more used…read moreto), I still enjoyed parts of the meal. We started with the satay chicken and dumplings, and both were really good--flavorful and well-prepared. One thing to note: when they say spicy, they really mean it! I have a pretty high spice tolerance, and even at the third level of heat it was very spicy--but also really tasty. I had a chili chicken dish that wasn't the most authentic, but I still enjoyed the flavors. My husband ordered the chicken Pad Thai, and he wasn't the biggest fan of it. Overall, while it may not be the most traditional Thai spot, it's a decent place if you're looking for bold flavors and a bit of spice. P.s. it's all halal

It was also decorated nicely with lanterns on the ceiling. You order at the counter and either takeout or dine in. The food was fresh and comforting. I tried the red curry with chicken. It came with rice and I also got spring rolls on the side. The curry was lacking a bit of flavour in my opinion and the rice was a little dry but overall it was still tasty. The spring rolls were good too. Some of the portions were a little small given the price however. The service was great and the cooks came and checked in with us to make sure everything was good which was nice as this wasn't a restaurant with servers.

10/10 would recommend…read more I've been getting delivery from here for a while now, so I knew the food was good, but this was my first time actually going to the restaurant and eating in! The place is so cute, fun atmosphere and easy ordering. They have daily specials and a 10% student discount which make the already affordable dishes even more value. There are games on the table to play while you're waiting for food, and service is great. Definitely going to be coming in to eat more often! I got the Thai spicy noodle soup, and it wasn't really that spicy which I really appreciated (but if you're craving spicy food maybe get the curry or add chilli oil). My other favourites include the pad Thai, the green curry, and the Tom yum soup.

This is such a cute hole in the wall place!…read more Located underneath the Sage building on Spruce, there is very little parking but some nonetheless at the side where King Tin is. When you enter the restaurant you'll see long tables, high top tables and then a large counter. This is a restaurant that lets you practice your social skills to share tables with others. You must order from the counter and then they'll bring the food to you. WiFi available. Daily specials available as well. They have a self serve water pitcher if you'd like to drink water and not order anything else. Ordered: Red curry with chicken Came with a large portion of rice. Curry was spicy with a little sweet after taste. Coconut milk, large chicken pieces, veg, bamboo shoots... this was delicious! Green curry with chicken Tastes a little creamier than the red. Ingredients are about the same. Very good. Slight Spiciness. Panang curry with beef Lots of veg. Very mild curry flavour. Prob my fave curry dish so far. Tom kha soup? This is a coconut milk chicken broth soup with pieces of mushrooms and we added shrimp. This is a very mild soup. It's not bad. But not my fave. Thai iced tea is sweet. Very very yum. It's not on their menu but for sure something worth ordering! A hidden gem in Waterloo. Very good Thai food.
