My gf raves about this place so I was excited to try. Luckily, it did not disappoint! We came around 5pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy but guests started pouring in soon after we were sat. I've been craving drunken noodles (with chicken) since forever, so that's what I got. My gf wanted the khao soi sauce but in yellow curry form (with chicken) so they were able to do that for her. I was also hoping to get some mango sticky rice but unfortunately they didn't have any ripe mangoes on hand. They give you a great portion as you can see from the pic. I was however, able to finish it all in one sitting....but I also wanted to explode after because I was so full lol. It didn't make sense to take home the little portion that I had left....so I forced myself to eat it all lol. The noodles were nice and soft and had a great basil flavour. The medium spicy was just the right amount of spicy for me. The drunken noodles also had a fair amount of chicken and veggies. No complaints. My gf's moderated yellow curry was sooo good! So much flavour and ton of spice. The consistency was perfect. Not watery and just the right thickness. I would defs get this on a different visit. Service was prompt and very friendly. This gotta be one of the best Thai restaurants I visited. Georgetown Thai is exploding with authentic dishes, seasoning, friendly staff and a very nice setting. Located in the heart of Georgetown, you will never get tired of their menu items. I get excited when my parents tell me they're gonna cater from this place for dinner. The best simple item on the menu has to be the coconut rice, unbelievable amount of flavour in it, you can eat it on its own. Just beautiful. The pricing may be a bit steep to some but it's the standard cost now for food, I highly recommend this place in Georgetown. There's too much fast food in these small towns!!! As it is first Thai Cuisine in Georgetown and lots of awards in their website. So we decided to try. Noodle with Thai lemongrass soup is my favourite soup in Thai Cuisine. This time the soup does not taste good as I expected. Maybe ingredients they put in the soup is not good ratio of spices. Red curry with beef tasted good, but rice need to be ordered as extra. So after spending about 8 hours at the Georgetown hospital, my husband and I were FAMISHED and I was not trying to cook dinner. I yelped some restos that were around the area and GT Thai was one of the options. We were so hungry that we were so indecisive on what to order. I called to order pick up and ordered the appetizer platter and pad Thai. Although, mid conversation I mentioned that they have this new dish (khao soi) that they were advertising on their Instagram as "coming soon" and they ended up offering it for us to order! So of couuurse we did. They told us it would be 25 min wait. We arrived at the resto about 5 mins after ordering and they ended up having the order ready within 5 mins!! They carefully packed each order. They packed the sauce, noodles and crispy noodles all separately for us too. Once we got home, we demolishedddd everything!! Everything was SOOO good! This by far is my most favourite Thai restaurant now (even in comparison to Toronto restos). I can't wait to go back and dine in too!! Also want to add the girl on the phone who took my order was SO nice and I didn't feel rushed at all. She took the time to help recommend some dishes and explain the different tastes. Georgetown thai has always had great food, I am never disappointed when i get from from here. Always good stuff.

I thought I had had some really good Thai food in the past but then I tried Georgetown Thai and it has really set the bar so much higher! This is proper gourmet Thai food. We started with an appetizer assortment of spring rolls, chicken satays, calamari (which I don't normally like but it was amazing here!), cold tofu and rice noodle rolls, and shrimp rolls. Then we shared a cashew Pad Thai and a peanut panang curry with jasmine rice. Generally, Pad Thai is usually plain but not here: it was so flavourful with a slight kick of heat, even without adding some citrus juice. I was pleasantly full without feeling bloated. Service was excellent and the ambiance is just beautiful. This is my new go-to for proper Thai food: it is definitely worth the drive to Georgetown! read more

My expectations may have been unfairly high prior to dining at Georgetown Thai. I'd been following their Instagram account for some time and had visited their website (and was surprised to learn they'd received recognition for authenticity from the Government of Thailand) so I was quite familiar with their menu and was growing increasingly eager to try it out. Dim mood lighting, plenty of artwork, and a number of tables make up the landscape of the restaurant. Service was prompt, albeit awkward at times when we asked about making palate modifications to which our server replied with a lot of, 'uhm's...' and awkward laughter. After some hmming and hahing on our side, my partner ordered the pad thai and I went with the panang curry with tofu. About 5 minutes later (talk about swift service!) our meals were in front of us. Let me preface by saying the flavour of that curry is full of body - you can taste the various ingredients and there was an initially welcoming texture with the addition of the chopped peanuts (which towards the end, grew a little repetitive.) What did cause me to pause was the incorporation of the tofu - there was a fistful of triangular shaped tofu pieces that just felt like an after thought as a protein. It quite literally tasted as if they just tossed it into the curry (which was obvious based on some pieces being cool in temperature.) I would have liked for the tofu to have been grilled or sautéed and then incorporated with the curry sauce - this would have allowed it to fully marry with the curry and feel like it had been apart of the dish all along. I was a little confused by the addition of the romaine/iceberg lettuce at the bottom of the bowl which my partner suggested might have been added as a vehicle to carry some of the leftover curry sauce, but I would have preferred broccoli or peppers. It kind of irked me that their curries do not come with rice - it was $2 for a tiny serving of rice. My partners pad thai was good - the noodles were cooked perfectly - but after a few bites, it simply felt too sweet and he grew tired of it quickly. We've both admittedly consumed a lot of Thai food so perhaps what we've eaten in the past isn't truly an authentic experience and this is closer to the 'real deal.' Despite us not feeling like our expectations were totally met, I will concede and admit that food here IS good despite the 3-star rating. Areas for improvement would include less uncertainty on the service side when it comes to menu (or perhaps suggestions when modifications aren't feasible) and tofu not feeling like a total after thought when selected in curries - especially with these menu prices. read more

Staff are fabulous, food is great, but inconsistent. I wouldn't recommend going here on the weekend as, it is very busy and the service wait will be long. The last time I went on a Saturday I had to wait for 50 minutes for pad Thai that was still cold (I was too hungry to complain) . But the times before that when I went on a weekday I received quick service and the food was 20 times better. Parking sucks because it's Main Street, can't fault them on that. This place is fine - but not 5 stars. The place is nice and clean, friendly service. But the food was almost mediocre. It didn't have the bold, assertive flavored that I love about Thai food. Instead, the flavors here are muted. My wife's plate had a bit of spice which was nice, but still very toned down. By no means what I would think of as medium spicy. It was mild. And I have to mention that while this place has vegetarian dishes like most Thai places, I cannot say that they are veg-friendly. Example: the lunch combo comes with a beef broth soup and no substitutions allowed. Just no soup for me. :( read more

I had gone to Georgetown with a party of 4 trying to enjoy some Thai food and was denied entry as we entered at 8:20pm when 9 pm is the time they closed. Yes, granted that the kitchen closes 15 mins before stated closing time but I don't think that is reasonable at all. I don't believe it was intended from the restaurant but more so the doing of our server, Sarah (chubby girl with glasses) whom we were greeted us at the door. Not professional at all. This restaurant is close by our home and we would love to come to enjoy some Thai food but our terrible experience does not allow for us to ever come there again. Thank you. read more

Everything here is delicious! It's a little pricey for Thai, but your taste buds will thank you! Love the peanut curry chicken with sticky rice and the basil chicken noodle or stir fry. We eat in here or order in pretty regularly. You can't go wrong. Their lunches are decent too. They offer a salad, soup, spring roll and smaller entree for like 9 bucks. This place left a bad taste in my mouth and not just from the sub par food. Our waiter was unable to tell the difference between salmon and chicken and brought the wrong dish to our table. This itself isn't a huge deal but he proceeded to "take care of tip" by giving himself a generous 19%. The service was slow and the food was mediocre. The restraunt does have a 15% gratuity policy but the menu explains its only for larger tables (8+). The food here is good, very good really; but I'd almost describe it as Thai for white folks. I went to this restaurant today for lunch. I am Thai and liked spicy food. This is not authentic Thai food. It is more Canadianized Thai dishes. I ordered chicken basil with rice. I asked if they could cook it really spicy. I also asked for chili-fish sauce on the side. For Thais, this is like Canadian's version of salt and pepper. When I got my food, it was not spicy at all, and I was told that I should not expect to get this special order next time I come to this restaurant. They would only do it for me if they are not busy. I was stunned and extremely disappointed. First of all, chili-fish sauce is not difficult to make. It look less than 30 seconds to fix one up. Just a teaspoon of cut chili, some fish sauce, and splash of lime juice. I will never go back to this restaurant again. If you want a Canadian version of Thai food, this place is for you. However, I do not recommend this to anyone who wants to experience real and authentic Thai food. Plus, the service is very disappointing. read more
