Was a frequent visitor during my university days, and returning to eat a massive bowl of hand pulled noods was very nostalgic for me. I ordered the traditional Lanzhou hand pulled noodle, requested size 3 (from 9 different noodle size options) and ordered lamb skewers as an appetizer. The noodles were what I remembered them to be; large portion, chewy, spicy, and with tender meat slices. Each bite of noodles coated with the chili oil and meat warmed up my soul as it's been years since I've had a bowl of noodles at gols. The lamb skewers were also very flavourful (slightly spicy), juicy, and cooked to order. They also had a cash discount of 5% so remember to bring your cash! Will definitely return to eat noods if I'm back in Waterloo, and to also try the other Gols locations!

This restaurant has delicious noodles. The food is delicious and the beef ( I had the reg beef with an egg ) is tender and the broth is flavourful. The only bad thing is the wait. We waited for a long time and eventually got a table that was actually two tables next each other. We were a party of two and sat a table for four like what !! We were not the only ones too. But any ways the service was fast I just don't get why there were so many extra spots and still a line.

Hadn't been to Gol's Lanzhou Noodles for a few years and so when I was back in the area I stopped in for a bite. Was disappointed in the limited selections offered. there was pretty much only one option for the noodle soup on the menu with the other option being offered on different days or otherwise not available. As well many of the grilled skewer appetizers were also not available, no pork belly, no shrimp, no frogs legs. Kind of a let down. Ordered the only beef noodle option available. The beef broth didn't have much flavor other than for chili oil. Not likely to return due to the lackluster flavour and limited options available.

    The bowls are huge.

Hard to get a seat even in off hours. But food is great and portion sizes are huge especially for lunch. (Two people we just split one bowl it was enough.)

This place deserve more than a 5 star rating! We went to Bingemans Big Splash water park in Kitchener and was looking for something to eat for dinner. Thanks to the yelp reviews we found Gol's Lanzhou Noodle! This is really a hidden gem! Ambiance: Very modern look with lots of wood! I love it! There's a window where you can watch them make hand made noodles fresh from scratch. It was awesome! That kept my daughters busy while we waited in line. Only downside is it only has 1 unisex washroom in the whole restaurant. Seems a bit strange. Service: We only waited in line for 15 mins but when we left the line up it was out the door way. Since this restaurant is located near Waterloo university it was packed with university students. The service was excellent. Our server was so knowledgeable and explain how the noodles work and what was in each dish. He also kept refilling our water. Our food came really quick. Food: Ok the best part of the review is definitely the food. There was a variety of bbq items on the menu. We got the bbq pork belly skewers and the bbq lamb skewers. The pork belly was so crispy, moist and coated with this sweet sauce that was so yummy! The lamb skewers had some cumin and chilli flakes. Also so tasty! The soup was so amazing! We each order the beef noodle soup. You get your choice of 9 different noodle with different thickness. My daughters had the thinner noodles and I had the super thick ones. The beef was tender, noodles was chewy and the broth was so flavourful and not too spicy, even my kids was able to handle it. Tip: we ordered 3 regular size soup but for $2 more You can the large, which is a huge bowl and you can share that. $12.99 vs $14.99. The price is fair. Amazing meal! Would definitely come back again. There's another location in North York which my sisters been to and it's just as good!

This place is located in the One Zo plaza by Laurier/Waterloo. I'm always trying to try new places whenever I'm in the area to visit someone! We were asked to sanitize our hands upon entering and then to write down our personal info before ordering (for covid). We got the beef hand pulled noodle (type #3) soup and beef chow mein. We got the noodle soup in mild and it was just perfect and tasted great. The chow mein on the other hand...looked much better in the picture. It lacked colour and flavour...and although it wasn't a bad choice, I would've preferred the noodle soup. We also wanted to other two other dishes (not sure what it's called but it looked like clear jelly noodle) but they didn't have it. Also note that their portions are quite large! The tables were spaced out, however the waiting area for dine in and take out (both are separate areas) were crowded affff. Everyone was pretty much shoulder to shoulder. I'm just glad it wasn't like that when I got there or else I would've just left.

100% don't order delivery. It's a lot more value (and cheaper by quite a bit) to just go to the restaurant. Service is kind of bad (the layout of the restaurant makes it hard for you to be seen by the staff) so go to the counter to pay/ask for to go containers bc you'll probably need a container. The pro about this place is that you get a lot of food for what you pay, and the food is always consistently good. It's not the kind of place that you absolutely have to try if you're in the area, but if you live around here it's a good staple place to grab a good meal.

This is located near the Burger King plaza by the University of Waterloo. There can be a wait during the evenings but it's worth it! The quality of the food is unreal. Hand pulled noodles is exactly what you need during the cold winter months. For about $10-$12 you can get flavourful noodle soup! On Fridays - Sundays they serve the Beef Tendon, which I ordered in the regular size. The traditional is seen in the photo but was upgraded to a large aka MASSIVE. We also ordered the baked oysters. They were very flavourful and large in size, for about $6-$7. Service was decent, but could improve with checking on customers. I would definitely come back to get more noodles!!!

Arrived right before noon and beat the rush hour! This is is so busy! Known for their noodles made in house, it did not disappoint! Love the chewy el dante noodles. U can choose ur own thickness and shape of noodles from the front page. The broth was a little greasy but overall everything was delicious!

Pretty legit when you have a craving for authentic Dan Dan noodles. Flavour was there and the noodles were nice, long and chewy.

This place serves fairly decent noodles in a fairly beautifully decorated store! They specialize predominantly in beef noodles (as stated in the name, the Lanzhou type), and even their bathroom sinks draw inspiration from these noodle soups (the sink basin resembles the bowl in which the noodles are served). Our group of five ordered three beef tendon noodles with the thicker hand pulled ramen, and my mom and sister shared the large bowl beef noodles (+ $2 for more noodles) with skinny ramen. The sizes are very fair for their price points; my mom and sister couldn't finish their portion and neither could I! The ramen texture was also excellent - I loved that the slightly thicker type was so al dente. The ramen strands remained chewy and springy even as I neared the end of my bowl. Although the thinner ramen strands became soggier earlier, they were more effective at soaking up the sauce and broth due to the greater surface area. I did enjoy the broth, but unfortunately, found myself to be very thirsty and dehydrated for the remainder of the day. I suspect that there's a pinch too much MSG or salt in the broths... Also, my main complaint is that my beef tendon noodles had only one piece of tendon. The remaining pieces were all beef brisket. Although brisket is typically more expensive than the beef shank used in their beef noodle soup, I found this advertising to be a little misleading... I paid for tendons and expect such, not a brisket replacement! There were also signs on the table that if you gave them a 5 star review on Yelp or TripAdvisor, they'd offer 10% off. That didn't sit quite well with me - ratings shouldn't and can't be bought! I wish I took a picture... Overall, this place serves hearty, student budget friendly noodles. Definitely come here if you're looking for some soupy goodness!

Good authentic Asian noodle dishes; they offer a large bowl if you're feeling hungry and want to upsize. Menu is simple with a few different dishes and styles to choose from. (Would help if they had some descriptions/pictures for the clueless like me lol). Otherwise it was a good hearty bowl of spicy soup with noodles and garnishes, the noodles are handmade in house and you can tell by the chewy texture. A bit on the pricier side and otherwise nothing outstanding.

I came here for dinner with a friend and we dodged the dinner rush. We got seated right away and right after, there was a 25 minute wait time. I decided to go with the basic beef tenderloin bowl while my friend got the vegetarian stir fry. Their soup and noodles is easily the best in Waterloo. The beef was incredibly tender and the broth had a lot of flavour. The noodles are a bit chewy but that's how I like them. I was even struggling to finish the bowl as the portions were so big. If you want a cheap, tasty and filling meal you should definitely check this place out.

*4.5* stars This…read morerestaurant has a very unique taste and dishes that aren't really seen anywhere else in the KW region (not that I'm aware of at least!) I saw it on Ubereats and saw there was a BOGO going on so I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised at the complexity and variety of dishes they had! If you crave Asian food, I definitely recommend this place. This place seems to primarily be for hotpot, but I can understand with covid it's harder to see that side right now. Nonetheless, they have many options outside their hotpot as well. I got the seafood with vermecilli noodles for my partner and a Mala spice with fish noodles for myself. The beef pho was a BOGO option so I got them for tomorrow's meal. (the BOGO list was quite limited). They were delicious and I found the portion sizing to be quite nice! The soup was very very flavorful and hits the spot. Again something that I haven't found in the KW area at all until now and would crave (since it can be found commonly back home in Toronto) Packaging, wait time and everything was fine. Why it's not a perfect score is because of its price point. It's a lot pricier than some other places. Their primary feature is hotpot and noodles. The hotpot options seemed fairly nice but there's also a few other hotpot places just around the corner too. With the noodles, you can get the same large portion (but different noodle type, same richness in broth though) for half the price that they set it at here. I personally see this place as somewhere I'd get ever so often, or special occasions only. For student prices, I'd probably look to go elsewhere. However, you can't deny how good their broth is, so it's not a big enough deal to knock off a star completely.

This is the most authentic Chongqing noodle place I have been to in Canada. It is my go-to…read morerestaurant in all of Waterloo. The owner is from Chongqing, and so is the cook. You can request for different levels of spiciness to your noodles. The selection of food is very oriental, so many local students get surprised by the items offered here. If you don't like that kinda thing, you can simply try the beef noodle, which is also really good. My personal favourite is the intestine & beef noodle, as the flavours are rich and the meat is cooked to just the right level, which is very difficult for intestines. The stewed chicken rice combo is also worth a try. As for appetizers, the fired pork is absolutely amazing. The chongqing cold jelly is also very authentic, and it is quite a refreshing dessert after a hot bowl of noodles. Just thinking of coming here on a cold winter day is exciting. The owner himself is super friendly, and likes to chat. He also remembers you if you come more than two times, sometimes even what you tend to order. He really makes you feel at home with his Chongqing hospitality. Tip: the soup base is at the bottom of the bowl, it's best to stir it before eating. Many people don't know and complain that the noodle is tasteless, then being shocked by its spiciness at the end.

Yummy, more like... dummy!…read more These noods were okay but the presentation of just plain chili oil and chickpeas left me wondering why I paid so much so a struggle meal. Superhot was not very hot, and as I shoveled extra chili into my bowl I could hear the owners exclaiming that "ta men hai xiang chi la de!" Not worth your time, I went home and made instant noodles to fill myself up right after.
