a plate of fried chicken wings

Right in the middle of a mediocre strip mall is this gem of a restaurant. It is small, unassuming and clean. We came here with family who have been here over the years, although it was my first time. If you were to go back in one to your favourite Canadian Chinese restaurant experience, this restaurant would top it. The food is amazingly true to all of the best that I remember of the genre but less greasy and without that "I think I just ate a lot of bad stuff and now need to lie down" feeling. We had jar doo chicken wings, fried rice, amazing egg rolls and spring rolls, delicious chicken chop suey, sesame chicken, Singapore noodles, and their perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious chicken balls with the accompanying sweet and sour sauce. I have not enjoyed such tasty Canadian Chinese food since I was little. Apparently, I am not the only one that feels this way as their door opening chime did not stop ringing the whole time we were there. The service is delivered with efficiency, great care and plenty of smiles. And finally the price point is terrific. $70 bill for four people with enough to take home for at least another meal. Walk, bike, drive, or run, as long as you do make it to this amazing little gem of Canadian Chinese glory! Ps. Sorry I did not get all of the pictures as by the time I realized, and came down from the euphoria of the egg rolls, the food was half eaten. I think some of it by me too. All a magical blur, really.

Recently renovated, this restaurant serves up great dishes for any crowd! The owner is super friendly, the servers are attentive and accommodating! I ordered the combo (chicken balls, chop suey, fried rice and sprig roll) for only $8.00! My friends and I also shared the salt & pepper squid, and deep fried prawns which were delicious. Definitely recommend dining in or takeout/delivery!

Trio has nice moody interior. I wanted to like the food but was very disappointed. The best item…read morewas the focaccia which came on its own small skillet. The oysters on the half shell were fresh and lovely. Otherwise the entrees were a complete miss. The sea bass was prepared well but sat on a brown mash that looked like black bean slurry and underwhelming. The risotto was a decent portion and cooked properly but flavorless. I'm glad I didn't try the tasting menu which was more expensive! This was intended to be our "nice dinner" for our trip and I would not recommend!

Perfection and 5's across the board for me... everything was on point from food (my favourite part)…read moreto service, overall experience and atmosphere. It's a very decent price for what you get, for fine dining. I was SO excited to hear that the tasting menu comes with 2 starters, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. First off, the outside of the restaurant is very unassuming. The signage is pretty basic and you can't really see what's inside. On the other hand, the interior is sleek and modern, very clean. The service is also top notch... they're all very personable and attentive. I felt so special here and it wasn't even my celebration (I came with a group of 7 for my sister's bachelorette) LOL. Onto the highlight, the fooood! For the tasting menu you don't know what you're going to get as it's not listed anywhere, likely because they change up the items so frequently based on what's in season and fresh. I won't go into full detail about all the items because everything was amazinnnng and this would be too long a review. In addition to the tasting menu, we also got a fresh oyster and delicious bread with sheep's milk cheese to kick off the meal.. it was such a pleasant surprise. When the servers bring each dish and explain what everything is, you can really tell that so much thought goes into each dish in terms of how the chef pairs all the flavours and best ingredients. The tomatoes in the salad starter for example, was picked that same morning. Every dish had so many components too -- for my picture captions, I put what I could remember. The flavours in each dish was so elevated, we were all literally spooning out every last drop everytime LOL. I loved the fact that the tasting menu came with 2 of each course because the variety was amazing... each of the two were so completely different from the other. This experience was incredible and so fun to try such good food! I would come here all the time if I could afford to but for now, can't wait until the next special occasion to come again!
