Ever since moving to Guelph nearly 7 years ago, I have made Royal City Restaurant my go to place for Chinese food. The staff are pleasant, the food is great and in large quantity, one combo 2 plate can last me as a widower for pretty much three meals, and I find the prices are great compared to other places I've gone to, the only thing I would like to see and I will not take a star off for this, is more sweet and sour chicken balls in the Combination 2, I only got 3 sweet and sour chicken bslls and you guys make them great. read more

I liked a lot of the food. I enjoyed the spare ribs, sesame chicken, and the chicken balls. However, I was incredibly disappointed to discover the shrimp, the part I was most excited about wasn't cleaned. I love shrimp, but to discover that I couldn't eat it, that's a huge letdown. I would give 2.5 stars but I rounded it to three because at least a lot of the food was good. read more

We went during the lunch hour. Affordable lunch special. The food was good. Service good. The only downside was this restaurant needs an upgrade. It's dark, gloomy and inside was cold. But overall we'd go back again. read more

Big city buffet girl finds herself in a small buffet located in a not so big city... haha ! I'm spending three days in Guelph for work and of course I was craving a Chinese buffet (I'm a Mandarin kind of girl). *$10 for lunch and $15 for dinner like how can you not say yes?* They didn't really have much of a selection but what they did have I was craving. We went in at 7pm on a Tuesday and there was only a couple and a lady there (I'm assuming they're slow at this hour). This is your basic Chinese food so don't go in thinking you're going to get the entire Chinese cuisine. The service was great, two lovely ladies helped us out. The chow mein was abit over cooked and mushy but I think this was because it was sitting for awhile. Other than that I would come back if I'm craving some basic Chinese food while I'm in Guelph. read more

Simple buffet. Can't go wrong for ten bucks...food was fresh. Service was good. Place could use some freshening up. You can see the wear in the place I would come back for how quickly we were able to have lunch. Would give them 4 stars if the place was a bit cleaner or renovated. my first time ordering from here, I ordered dinner for two and didn't realize that it came with a big plate of rice with eggs. I don't like it when Chinese restaurants force customers to get rice and eggs with combos, its filler food and it means i'm not getting the most for my money. Besides that the chicken balls were good and they gave plenty of sauce with it. The broccoli chicken came with lots of broccoli but only few pieces of chicken. I will give this place one more try to see if i have a better experience. read more

The premises are dated and dirty. The prices are good and the food is just the typical north americanized chinese food. Take out orders are always quickly prepared, typically ten minutes. For a quick take out meal this place is fine. read more

Great Buffet place. We went there for dinner while doing a road trip ... The food was fresh and tasty (for a buffet). Place decor is very decent & the service is great. The deep fried stuff are a little bit on the oily side - but there buffet has a good balance between the fried and the sauteed food. read more

First I want to be honest and say I haven't been to the restaurant, i have only ordered delivery from here. That being said, I will say it's quite cheap and the food is okay, but I've had a lot better Chinese food. Maybe the in person buffet experience is good, but my delivery was meh. read more

Have been eating here since I was a child. The food has never changed. Great fast Chinese food at a good price. All you can eat buffet and delivery is great. Staff that deals with the public is always super nice. The cheese burger and fries are pretty good there too if you so desire to have one. read more

Food is good..had better but also had a lot worse Buffet has minimal selection but what's there is fresh Take out is good very responsible priced and fast to pick up however my daughter did find a long black hair folded in her egg roll .. Where I have a concern is the way their delivery staff treat the pick up customers. I was swore at by a delivery driver in front of my daughter all because I parked where the delivery cars park.. Was visiting Guelph, decided to Yelp a Chinese place. Landed at this hidden gem. They have a buffet table, but we decided to order our favorite dishes from the menu. All dishes were hot and fresh, was delicious! The only server there was so friendly and welcoming. Also found out the restaurants been around since 1969! read more

Take out was fast and sizzling hot. Large portions and so delicious. I got the beef lo mein which had loads of beef and vegetables the way I like it with the perfect amount of sauce on the noodles. I like that they are open later on Sundays than most places read more
