Perfect combination of AYCE Dim Sum & Sushi! This was exactly what we were craving for! The server explained very well the lunch menu items that are available on the self-ordering tablet so that we won't over order. On to the food...we ordered quite a few dishes since it was our first time so that we can get a better idea if they specialize more on Chinese Dim Sum or Japanese food. To our surprise all these dishes were good. I really liked that the Dim Sum items were not too big. For example, the shrimp dumplings and siu mai were about half of the regular size so you won't get too full and you can try more dishes. Here are some of the outstanding dishes: 1) Spicy salmon Taco 5/5 - stuffed with fresh salmon and a nice blend of sauce and cucumber (Must try!) 2) Unagi Pizza 5/5 - very tasty with big pieces of unagi! 3) Salmon Hand Roll - 4/5 - this was good...it would be nice if there was less rice 4) Salmon Teriyaki - 4/5 - this was fresh and nicely prepared 5) Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) - 4/5 - shrimp was fresh and skin wasn't too thick 6) Mango pudding - 5/5 - perfectly done! Best dessert! Overall we enjoyed the AYCE lunch and we'll definitely be back to try the AYCE dinner as there are more selections!

Nice comfortable chairs here.

Was very very good. Much better than expected. Sushi was great, good service and the restaurant was a really pleasant place to have dinner.

First time at this location. Servers were nice and friendly. Food came promptly, however, even up until last call, some items we ordered during our dining period never arrived even though we reordered (as it's a buffet). Not the best dimsum, but ok for a buffet. My favourite was the Teriyaki salmon and the fried rice.

First thing, parking is limited - thankfully we found exactly one spot, but we were there mid-afternoon on a Friday. The food itself was really good - actually, much better than any other all-you-can-eat sushi place I've ever been to. Perhaps I have lower standards, but I had no complaints after eating here. Service was fairly prompt, interior is decently clean and modern, and felt like we got our money's worth for our food.

This place was originally just called August and it would include 8 in brackets because August is the 8th month and 8 is a lucky number in Oriental countries. However more and more people started calling it August 8 instead of just August (8) and so the owner changed the name of the restaurant to reflect it, and so that's why it's now called August 8! As for the place itself, the first thing I realized is that the parking lot is TINY. The restaurant itself also occupies a really small area. We had to wait for some customers to leave in order to take their parking spot. When we went in, our host asked us to wait in the waiting area until they had a table ready. The waiting area is very small--only 4-5 seats at the entrance. So if you're going with a big group, definitely make a reservation so that you don't have to wait. Inside, the décor is beautiful. The walls are elegantly designed and everything is laid out in a simple but modern manner. You order with an iPad, like most other sushi buffets nowadays. The food is actually really good. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought it would taste like every other sushi buffet. Even the seaweed salad, which usually tastes bland at every other restaurant, tasted good here. They offer dim sum, sushi, sashimi, and just about everything. Aside from the usuals, I recommend their mango pudding dessert and banana tempura. I also ordered two drinks, the Sangria and Bellini. Definitely recommend the Bellini--it looked and tasted great. At the end, when we asked for our bill we noticed that they charged us for 3 cocktails instead of 2... I don't even understand how they got it wrong because we ordered straight from the iPad and it even had the record that we only ordered 2 drinks. When we told the lady who gave us our bill, she went back to her station to change it. But before changing it, she said really loudly and skeptically to her coworker, "They're saying they only ordered 2 drinks instead of 3. Did they really?" When she gave us our bill again, she didn't even bother to apologize for the mistake or even look at us--she just dropped the receipt on the table. I found that really unprofessional and not a good way to end the meal. So overall, the food and atmosphere are great, the service is good with the exception of one lady, but the spaces (of the parking lot, dining area, and tables) are small.

When I did a staycation in Hamilton in February 2020, I remember passing by an August 8 restaurant…read more It has a handful of locations that offer all-you-can-eat sushi. Last month, I was back in Hamilton for a mini staycation. I needed dinner. I looked on my Uber Eats app and saw that this August 8 had a number of BOGO items. I had to get in on the deals. I ordered the following items: - Avocado salad - California roll - BOGO - Sticky rice (3) - Salmon sashimi (3) - Steamed sponge cake (4) - BOGO I drove over to the eatery to pick up my order. It's located in a tiny plaza with limited parking. I managed to snag the only parking spot available. I had to careful back in, as there was a car parked illegally in the parking lane. It's the downside to fetching or heading over here to dine. The parking situation is atrocious and downright dangerous. More on that in a bit. I headed to the counter and got the nicest young man. I let him know that I had an Uber Eats order and stated my name. He found my order and handed a bag over to me. I thanked him and left the eatery. There were a handful of students hanging around outside. One of the guys was sweet to open and hold the door for me. Kindness isn't completely dead. It was a nice touch. The downside was that the woman who parked illegally parked in the fire lane didn't bother doing a check behind her and decided to back up. I don't get why she needed to back up, but she nearly backed into me. I was not impressed. I actually managed to get out of the way and had a good look at her from the passenger side of her car. I let her know through some arm gestures that she needed to be careful and that she nearly ran over me. My gestures did have words accompanying them. I can't state them here. They weren't pleasant words that I use regularly. I got to my car and safely placed my food in it. I then drove back to the hotel room to chow down. The food was yummy on the whole. I will break things down: Avocado salad The miso dressing was flavourful. The avocado slices were delicate and were starting to turn brown. The veggies were fresh, but I didn't love the iceberg lettuce. I'd skip getting this salad. California rolls Excellent! The filling was warm, which was different. I loved them. The fake crab, avocado, and julienned cucumbers were so good. They did have black sesame seeds around them. Sticky rice (3) It was a bit weird seeing white paper wrapped around each bundle of sticky rice with its own leaf wrapping. I felt that it was a waste of paper. The bundles had more white pepper than necessary. The filling was generous, with small chunks of pork. I ate one each day. They heat up nicely. Salmon sashimi (3) The best! Each piece melted in my mouth. You don't need to chew much. The sashimi was super fresh. Steamed sponge cake (4) I am a huge fan of traditional steamed sponge cake. There was a twist with the version here. You get dainty triangles with layers of sponge cake. I'm not sure what separated each layer, but this cake was subtly sweet and still warm. I loved it so much. I want to return and get some more food. I'd avoid the avocado salad. The parking situation makes me want to fetch food from a different August 8, though. Maybe I should try coming during lunchtime when I'm in the area and see if parking is better. (442)

It's always a good sign when you can find Cantonese-speaking customers in the restaurant - and we did. The restaurant appeared clean, although was dated. There were basic dim sum choices on the menu, but quite a number of items were crossed out and marked as not available. We tried the Shanghai Style Fried Noodle, Preserved Egg and Pork Congee, Steamed Sui Mai Dumpling, and Steamed Chive Shrimp Dumpling. We ordered the Pan Fried Dumpling with Minced Pork - it never arrived. Just as well because we had enough for two people and were already full. Of all, the congee was the most flavourful. The other items were standard. The noodles didn't have as much flavour and 'wok hei' as we would have liked, but still ok. I did ask if they made the dim sum in house, and the server (owner?) answered, "yes" but I do have to wonder. I would give it another try for dinner entrees.

With about 32 items on the menu and several items were not available. Not typical to have rice rolls for dim sum unfortunately so you have to order two plates in order for them to sell it to you. Also they were not very pretty presentation wise but the beef one was particularly good. The server and possibly owner of the establishment & chef were very attentive and friendly. You are greeted quickly as soon as you enter and she welcomes her regular customers by name and a friendly matter. Ambiance felt like a former greasy spoon diner restaurant not traditional Chinese style at all. So it is still good as it wasn't noisy and no loud music playing either. Was quiet for lunch time but they did get some more diners while we enjoyed our peaceful dim sum lunch today.

Conveniently located in the mall, it offers all the classic dim sum favourites in a welcoming and elegant setting, much like its downtown Toronto locations. We visited on the weekend for dim sum, and the menu had all the must-haves: steamed dumplings, BBQ pork buns, siu mai, and more. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and well-prepared. The atmosphere is refined yet comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual outings and special occasions. One big plus is the relatively short wait time if you arrive around 11 AM. If you're coming later, you might have to wait, but reservations can be made in advance by calling ahead; something that's not always an option at dim sum spots.

After about 15 minutes, our soup had still not arrived. The waitress asked if we had had our soup and we said no. The restaurant was moderately busy, but they were also processing a lot of takeout. After our soup we awaited for the two other dishes we had ordered. We found it quite cold in the restaurant. The tea we ordered soon got cold. One of our ordered dishes arrived for us to start. After about 10 minutes, I asked for the second dish to be served. It arrived about 10 minutes later. In the meantime, of course, the first dish was stone cold and not enjoyable to eat. The second dish was very good however quickly got cold. I have eaten at pearl several times and like their food very much. The dishes are well prepared fresh and very good. We were quite disappointed with our evening meal as the service was very slow. The room was very cold. Our food was good, however, getting cold soon after it was served. The atmosphere is bright and generally seating is comfortable, except for being quite cold near the window. The food is pricier than most other restaurants, but servings are generous.
