Just ordered on doordash at about 1 pm 3/2. Was excited to try the taco of the month but did not receive the habanero jam that is supposed to come with it. This is the SECOND time this has happened. Texas tacos are really something else. Torchy's is like the kitchen sink spread of Tex Mex, and despite the at-times odd combinations that come out of their menu, everything is pretty darn good. I make it a mission to try a new taco every time I'm at Torchy's, and I'm doing good so far. To date, my favorite has been the Baja shrimp. There's just something about the combination of tomatillo salsa and crunchy shrimp that makes me feel like I'm back in Southern California, feasting on good seafood tacos! That said, everything else is still pretty good -- the trailer park taco makes me feel a little woozy afterward from how heavy the fried chicken is, and the crossroads is close to a good street taco. While the breakfast tacos are tasty, I will say that the one thing that bugs me is the lack of seasoning in the egg. A little salt and pepper would go a looong way in enhancing the flavors. Their queso is fabulous, thanks to the smattering of diablo sauce and the bobbing lump of guacamole in the middle. (Sorry, really appetizing -- I know.) I always have to take a break partway through to cough myself through eating too much diablo sauce, but I'm back at it not long after if I have a margarita in hand. The parking lot is the transportation equivalent of a dumpster fire, so I prefer to park on one of the small side streets east of Shepherd. Torchy's has very good tacos! I usually start out with their chips and guacamole, or green Chile queso and chips. Their tacos have catchy names. I like the Trailer Park, which is boneless fried chicken Green chilis, and accompaniments. Their breakfast tacos are pretty good as well. Outside seating is provided, but there are sign relating that pets are not allowed. Why I don't know. Nevertheless, I see people sitting at the side area (to the West ) with pets because the pets can stay on the public sidewalk. Management doesn't seem to mind this. read more

It's a Texan classic and it was hyped up so much which might be why I didn't think it was as good as I would've liked. The tacos aren't bad, but they're not great either. I got a trailer park taco (trashy), fried avocado and brushfire tacos. The brushfire was good, I liked the mango. The other two tasted like your basic family night tacos with lettuce, cheese, and meat - nothing special, almost boring. My sister got the Green Chile Pork taco and she thought it was just okay. The vibe there is pretty cool though. They've got a bar and TVs and some booth seating. It was cool, but again nothing special. read more

Great name guys !!! Almost as good as mine(Thor Odinson). This is defiantly one of my favorite restaurants, and I am pretty sure I am their favorite customer. The service is always great here, and I love almost all their taco's (we need to talk about the fish taco guys). The beer was fantastic guys and I'm sorry that I drank so much of it. Only thing that could possibly make this place better would be if you could maybe get some of the ladies from Hooters to come serve the beer and Taco's but that's a conversation we can have another day guys. I had the chicken grande burrito which was nice and big although it lacked flavor, the dipping sauces definitely added a kick.

My sister's husband loves this place so we had to make a stop here while in Houston for him. Not like your typical mexican street taco or your average fast food mexican spot like taco bell or del taco. They do serve mexican style dishes which were good but nothing mouth watering. You would order your dish and they would give you a number and you would grab a table. A waiter will bring out your food to your table for you. I had ordered the green chile queso dip and the crossroads taco. Their taco isn't like the small street tacos. Rather like a medium sized tortilla shell that could definitely use some extra toasting. Large slices of avocado and your typical barbacoa. Certain taco order will come with it's own salsa but my significant other and I asked for their avocado salsa which I would highly recommend. Reminded me of the el pollo loco cilantro avocado sauce but with a spicy kick. Their green chile queso dip was delicious. Spicy, cheesy and packed with flavors. Some of their chips were stale which was weird. Like they reused old chips and mixed it in with new chips hoping customers won't notice. I love that they served alcohol here. Their slush was strong. My significant other got the peach margarita which was good. I'm not a tequila fan so I didn't like it so much but kinda reminded me of fat tuesdays in vegas rather less diabetes from the excess sugar. Not good! Over priced tacos that aren't good. Had two breakfast tacos and they sucked! Best part was coffee. If I wasn't in a hurry to go then I wouldn't have stopped. Don't waste your time. Go to El Rey or Velvet. I've tried multiple tacos and I always leave disappointed. I use to enjoy the fried avocado breakfast taco but it's no longer on the menu. i will say, i usually am only really into the street style tacos but these tacos here were pretty good! i was especially loving the guacamole and chips. the guac was super fresh, had a nice zest and was served as great hefty portion in a nice sized bowl. i forgot to take a picture of the shrimp taco but that one was my favorite. light, not too many toppings and easier to eat. both the chicken tacos were good too, the fried chicken taco was paired better with the toppings in my opinion but they were all good and surpassed my expectations. torchys, i will be back :) read more

This place is pretty busy. The hardest part is the parking situation. Its very tight spaces and limited spots. Ive had times where I would loop around 2-3 times and then just give up and go home. Ok, so, now that we're passed the logistical issues, let's talk food! The queso is seriously everything! My favorite taco is the brushfire which is a jamaican jerk chicken with a mango salsa mix. Yum! The breakfast tacos are good. They have vegetarian options. The avocado bean taco is decent. I tried the baja shrimp taco and honestly wasnt a big fan. Ive ordered on door dash a couple of times from here and wouldnt recommend. The food tastes good when its fresh. From what I experienced with delivery the food becomes soggy and not as warm. Its not the restaurants fault there is a lag in time between someone picking it up and delivering. I would rather save the couple of bucks on delivery and tip and get an extra taco and have nice hot food at the actual location. read more

The third Torchy's run this new year and really happy to see them taking social distancing and masks seriously. Got to love that Queso with Barbacoa added to go with the chips. I can almost have that as a meal. I'd love them to have a drive through at this location, but this is a pretty good next best thing. The downside here is that they really need a bigger parking lot. If some dummy parks their supercab truck in the back half of the parking lot, it's almost impossible to get by it. The most mediocre taco ever! Look everybody, we live in Houston, Texas. You can't drive one block without finding a place that sells tacos, so the competition is pretty fierce here. You either have to have great tacos or just go home. My husband and I hadn't visited Torchy's in a while so we thought we would to by the one Shepard. We ordered two tacos and two quesadillas to go. If you are having a craving for really good tacos or queso and chips, get Torchy's. They have some of the best fast food tacos I have ever had. What I really like is that you can get an ice cold beer on draft or bottled to go along with your tacos. In the past, I have had the breakfast tacos so, this place is good for all of your meal needs (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The service is quick and friendly which is always a plus. Oh, did I mention how reasonably priced this place is? Tacos are about 3.50 each maybe a little more or a little less. I live in between this location and the rice village location, and after working at Torchys in College i've grown very fond of the brand and will crave and occasional taco. However, especially when it comes to breakfast this location unlike the other is NEVER on time. I normally wouldn't complain about something like this but i've waited for over 20 minutes on single taco orders, that were placed online in advanced, while the restaurant itself has been empty. Their Denver DTC location is the best! If you are ever the area, be sure and stop by this location at Hampden/I25 North. If there's room at the bar and Maggie's working - you need to sit at the bar and not at a table. While the food is always great, her customer service is even better. She always has a smile on her face and will go out of her way to make you feel welcome and will also throw in a recommendation or two if you need one. My personal favor is their Airstream Salad with chicken with and a side of flour tortillas...salad not your thing, ask Maggie for other suggestions. She's always on the mark. She came in town and we needed food! It was breakfast time and we were unsure what to eat! I've been back at least 10 times since then and I've brought other friends!! The bag is prepped by the team at torchy's and has been consistently wrong/missing items. Please address your expo issues. Add staff if possible to ensure items are checked and handed out accurately.
