Enchilada Plate (2) rice, beans, and chicken all taste like bounce that ass
Serena S.

Service was utterly amazing but the rice, beans, and chicken all taste like bounce that ass.

Pricey for a premade mix.

So the Chronicle had some good reviews on this place so we went to try it out. Got there just before 3 to miss the crowd.... Order Margs, I like mine on the rocks with no salt. Sitting at the bar I got to watch him pour mine from a mixed bottle, maybe 8-10 ounces over ice that added to the mix because it melted right away, cost $9.50... for $9.50 I expect at least smell some tequila. Should be a notice that if you want to get that happy buzz you will need at least 2-3.... Ordered the queso flameado to start and it was the finish. The chorizo was mild enough to feed to a baby and the cheese was way too skimpy. But that didn't stop them charging $16.25. The worst by far was the small amount of chips they brought first were stall or cooked in old grease... now mind you I'm trying to keep away from carbs so I should thank them so that. So we won't be back, Gringos is closer to home and a lot better. But don't take my word for it, go try it for yourself and let me know if you had a better experience.

Mole Poblano with rice and beans A tea for beverage

I normally enjoy coming to this place and eat their machacado a la mexicana. Today was lunch time so decided to try something different. The mole sauce was delicious, however the beans were sour or tasted spoiled and were cold. I gave this visit 3 stars because the service was lacking on this visit. Our waiter had an attitude from the beginning and for every refill had to be called upon, as he was in the corner with other waiters talking and laughing not paying attention to his tables. The other waiters were watching their tables, but ours had his back to us the entire time. The ambiance was not as welcoming on this visit. This was my second time and I took my wife because I had bragged about the place. Such a disappointment in the customer service. Let's do better next time. Reminder: You only get one shot at a first impression.

Went to La Mexicana for a breakfast/brunch and really enjoyed it! I got the eggs Mexicana and a bean and cheese taco. When I ordered, I wasn't sure if I'd feel full after 2 tacos and was unsure if I should order more, but these 2 were enough to keep me full. The outdoor patio was really nice, especially on a warm day. Great restaurant!

This was our nearby option. Was excited to try the food but wasn't too satisfied. Server wasn't friendly. The food was alright but didn't have authentic Mexican flavor. I was craving some chilaquiles & these were not it. The barbacoa was good. The nachos were good too.

The entrance has a large variety of Mexican candies and sweet bread. I ordered the chicharrón in green sauce. It was very good, and perfect, temperature wise. It came with rice and beans and choice of tortillas (3) corn. The service was good but the waiter didn't seem to care about being there. We were served chips and salsas right away. The green sauce was better than the red. Chips are fresh. They have aguas frescas, sodas and plenty of adult beverages. The ambiance is nice and there are plenty of TV's on. It has a nice bar area and there's outdoor seating as well. Very nice establishment that I would consider coming again. Can't wait to try other menu options next time like the chilaquiles with chicken and crema.

Taco tuesday must. Actually an any day must. I enjoy coming here to have a meal on my own any day. Service is quick no fuss and it's interesting people watching. The food is authentic. They got 4 stars because the tortillas for the tacos felt store bought. It's a cool spot to watch a game of your choice, kinda has a sporty family vibe. Over all they have good Pozole and my now favorite Guava Margarita.

Good food and service. Food is always fresh. Quick service. It's clean and welcoming. Enjoy it here.

Carne Asada

3 stars are generous. No margarita menu, well large or small. Based on the taste I doubt it had tequila. Chips are stale and bland salsa. The build your own combo only comes with 3 items for $20, rip off. Ended up with carne asada. Salty and basic refined beans.

Well the wait was only 10-15 minutes max but after we were seated it took another 10-15 after we got our drinks to get our food order taken. Good news is food came out really fast and chips and salsa were fast too. Carne guisada was so much food. When I saw two flautas for my meal I didn't think it would be enough but it was more than enough. Decent enough!

For drinks, my husband and our friends tried some of the margaritas from their large and unique margaritas menu, as well as their hibiscus agua fresca. All of the drinks were very pretty and it seemed like everyone enjoyed them, too! We started with their chips and salsa trio, which we all really liked. The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! We got a quatro leches and two ordered of their giant and amazing churros. Both were incredibly tasty and reason enough to return for another visit in the future!

It was my first time trying out Tex mex style. It was so busy on a Saturday evening. The chips that were given to each table was incredibly warm and the sauces paired so well. I recommend getting it with red and green sauce on the side and a side of tortillas ro make your own tacos with the eggs, salsa and refried beans. just wow! And that tamale needs its own menu. That tamale was amazing. I would get several orders of that soft white tamale by itself to go. And the service was a 10/10. They kept refilling my red and green sauce and kept checking up on me throughout. Ambience was great as always. Its a life changing dish. Thanks Teotihuacan for the great breakfast and great service! Service was remarkable and very friendly from the host to the cleaning staff. Food was delicious. I really appreciated the creative flavors that were inspired by authentic Mexican cuisine. Standouts were the guacamole and wagyu carne asada, but everything was fantastic. I loved the Clara cocktail and enjoyed learning about the process to create it. It is clear that there was care and attention behind each menu item. Also, the pace of the food being brought out was evenly paced, which I appreciate, and our server gave us just the right amount of attentiveness. We celebrated my husband's birthday here, and they sent out a tres leches with a candle on it. Very kind and very delicious dessert. Usually not a big fan of tres leches, but this one was not overwhelmingly soaked in condensed milk, and it has a very fresh tasting peach (seasonal) puree drizzled on top. We will most definitely return.

We ordered the breakfast burrito and the duck carnitas. We added barbacoa to the burrito, and it was honestly the definition of comfort food. It was EXTREMELY greasy though, so I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. If I had been home alone... I probably would've just shoved the whole thing in my mouth. I couldn't not order the duck carnitas. It came on a sope, which is basically my definition of the perfect Mexican brunch. It was really yummy, and I especially loved the salsa that came with it. My only real critique is that the portions felt a little on the smaller side. Either bump them up a bit or add a small side, because I definitely could've eaten a little more.

It's in the Museum District/Montrose area, so pretty accessible and with plenty of parking. We got seated immediately, and there was a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating, the latter of which was great even on a humid day. The menu was pretty extensive with your Tex-Mex classics like fajitas and enchiladas, with a special for every day of the week. This time was a free upgrade to a large fajita, so I went with the chicken fajitas! It came out after about 20 minutes with all of the fixings and this very yummy buttery sauce.
