Had a great late-night experience at Little Taco Shop! I came in around 10 PM, and the shop was incredibly clean and the customer service was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp and carne asada quesadilla, which came out fresh and piping hot. Paired it with a crisp, refreshing Mexican Coke. It came with some pickled peppers on the side--they weren't really my vibe, but I'm glad I got to try them! Plus, they have a huge parking lot, making it super easy to park. I'll definitely be back when those late-night taco cravings hit.

I came here on a solo Saturday night looking for dinner and decided to try a new place! I recently moved to the area but I've always driven by this place previously. When I went, it was empty at 8PM with just 2 girls sitting inside waiting for customers to come in. I ordered 3 tacos for myself and chips and queso. They came out with the chips and queso at the same time as the tacos and it was within 10 minutes of me ordering! Super quick. They also gave me 2 bottles of hot sauce, which I loved both because they're just as flavorful as spicy. The tacos were definitely filling and stuffed with meat. I really enjoyed them and would definitely come back. I ordered 4 tacos to-go for my husband to have, 1 al pastor, 1 shrimp pastor, 1 carne asada and 1 chicken fajita. They have a bunch of different drinks which I'll try next time I'm in because they looked good! Price is good as well. I'd save average for what you get.

The flavor here is solid, but the excessive grease really missed the mark. The tortilla felt like it was dipped in a heavy oil concoction that could really drive up your cholesterol. It would be a much better taco if you started with a dry tortilla, used just a light butter or oil spray, and seared it on both sides until it's crisp before adding the ingredients. On the plus side, the ambience is great. The place is very clean, and I loved the selection of homemade drinks in the refrigerator along the right wall. If they fix the greasy tortillas, this would be a top-tier spot. I ordered a pickup order so I didn't really experience the service.

Fascinating that I have never noticed this place! A taco shop that is open until midnight! Very very clutch. Now I didn't come here at midnight but it was 930pm and most places were closed but through my yelp search I found this place open! Anyway, they have a very large selection of food items to choose from on the menu! The place is small and cute with a full bar plus non alcoholic beverages in the cooler. They even have jarritos if thats your jam! Because it was late I ordered a salad with shrimp Al pastor. I'll try the tacos next time! Um the salad was excellent! So so good. They chopped up the shrimp and laid it across a bed of not iceberg but romaine lettuce and spinach! Come on high quality salad! Also they topped it with tortilla strips. That salad hit the spot and I will be back to try their tacos!

It's so good! For me it's hard to find good authentic tortillas in Houston and these are legit. Remind me of my fave places in my hometown of San Antonio. The food came out fast and fresh. The inside was clean. Staff was nice. The meats were good too. Highly recommend. I can't wait to come back.

I came for a quick lunch and left full and happy. Delicious chipotle shrimp quesadilla with the perfect amount of heat. They make their flour tortillas from scratch! Kind and quick service, nice decor and very clean. A must try Little Taco Shop.

This small taco spot holds a special place in my heart. Just across the street from several office buildings, it was so easy to come here after work for a quick quesadilla or sandwich. Good, tasty portions for good prices and quick service, what more could you ask for? They also offer mezcal, tres leches and other desserts :)

Came by and got the Carne asada burrito was great. Great size for the price. Salsa is also good.

It may be tacos now instead of burgers, but it's the same ownership and the same disappointing quality. Not much has changed.

Our server, Camille, took our order and then would disappear for 30+ minutes at a time. At one point, when we asked where she had been, she simply said she was "walking around." Her overall approach to serving us felt extremely nonchalant and inattentive. The atmosphere also made us feel as though the level of attention you receive depends on how much you're spending--particularly whether you're purchasing bottles. The servers seemed more focused on creating a bottle-service experience than providing attentive restaurant service. It gave the evening a very transactional, "pay for attention" feeling rather than genuine hospitality. What really sealed the experience for us happened after we had already paid our bill. A host approached our table and essentially said, "Can you leave now? We need to seat someone right now." There was no gracious transition, no "thank you for dining with us," and no polite explanation--just an abrupt request to leave. For a restaurant with such a beautiful ambiance and good food, the service and hospitality were incredibly disappointing. Guests should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they sit down until the moment they leave, regardless of whether they're ordering bottles.

The origami ceiling, lively bar, friendly staff, unique cocktails, fun bathroom, and photo booth in the corner made for an unforgettable experience. My friend said it was the busiest he had ever seen the place, and it was loud. But we got some awesome drinks that I swore I could've taken pics of -- the lighting was a little crazy, so I think I ultimately changed my mind with that. One was the periscope which was a refreshing and summery gin drink... And I think I tried the naked and famous too because I like mezcal. I had already eaten so I skipped the restaurant the speakeasy's connected to, but I cannot wait to return to Houston outside of a Con so I can really go all out on exploring. It was an amazing way to end my first night!

Overall, a fun spot with great vibes and definitely worth checking out!

Bar Buena is a nice new addition to the cocktail bar scene in Houston! It's next door to (and…read morerelated to) Goode Company Cantina, but Bar Buena is a totally separate spot. We accidentally walked into Goode Company Cantina, and they kindly walked us over to Bar Buena. When you walk into Bar Buena, it takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the dark bar--it's fun and moody. And it's not huge, so go get your spot early. We were there around 4pm on a Saturday, and the bar was already about half-full, so I can only imagine how crowded it gets later in the evening. I had a mezcal frozen margarita. It was just like a regular frozen margarita, but with a subtle smoky flavor--delish.

Bar Buena was a surprise find after we participated in a cooking class at Sur La Table across the…read morestreet. After the byob cooking experience, we figured "why not!?" So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

After a Sunday fun day, we were looking for a dinner spot in the area. My friend had been to Five…read moreCentral prior and sang its praises, so the group decided to check it out. We Ubered over, so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. Ambiance (3.5/5): Five Central is big! There's a big restaurant, a cigar lounge, a huge patio, and more. While we dined at the restaurant, it seems like there's a ton to check out here. They often will host live music too as I saw some ads about it while I was in the restroom. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was great. She was friendly, attentive, and she went above and beyond. They brought me the wrong side, and I told her it was okay, but she ended up bringing me the right side a few minutes later. Which meant my meal had three sides instead of the two it came with. I really appreciated that! Drinks (4/5): Five Central has a good list of cocktails and more, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I went with a Shirley Temple lol. That brought me back. One of my favorite beverages as a kid. They were out of maraschino cherries, but we made it work. Food (4/5): We started off by splitting the coconut curry wings and the parmesan chicken bites. Out of the two appetizers, the chicken bites were my favorite. They were fried just right, crispy, while still tender inside. The sauce smothered on top made the dish. The wings, on the other hand, while flavorful, were a bit small. Still good though. With that being said, the star of the evening was my entree: the fried chicken. Fried chicken is either going to be a hit or a miss... here, it's definitely a hit. Crispy and well-seasoned on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Served with a sweet hot sauce, Texas toast, and your choice of two sides. I went with fries and mashed potatoes. The sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were a buttery heaven and the fries were crisp and you could tell they weren't frozen. It's a generous portion size, too! I ate half and took the rest to-go. If you're looking for some Southern cooking, with love, Five Central is an awesome spot.
