4 flight tasting

Some of the best wines I've had in recent memory, comes highly recommended by wine friends, many of which have been members here for many years. Yudy and Elena were amazing hosts, remembering everyone by name, obviously very excited about the wines and everyone that stops by. Congrats on your first 100 point wine today, well deserved!

TOP should be on everyone visit list when they come to Paso. So unassuming, yet finds itself on French Laundry's wine list, so you know they're doing something (aka A LOT) right. 10/10 will be back.

Tasting with Elena -super nice

I can't wait for TOP wines to grow and see where they can go. Elena, the co-owner, was super sweet and accommodating. We came here since another winery recommended them. I really liked their Rose and I'm not a Rose fan. My husband and I really loved their Syrah, so we got one bottle to go. Love their story. Keep up the great work!

Gorgeous wines!

The term they use for their tasting room is speakeasy. Tucked away in an industrial area, the tasting room provides a chill vibe for exploring the many outstanding wines TOP Winery produces. We had four in our party for tasting and when we arrived a comfortable table was ready for us to work our way through the portfolio. The first thing I noticed when I sat was the stemware provided for us to taste the wines. They use Zalto Denk'Art Bordeaux glasses. These glasses are some of the finest and retail for over $70 a glass. Good stemware enhances the tasting experience. Another enhancement is the cool music playing softly in the background. This is in fact a chill tasting room. Our server for the day was Yudie (spelling). She was knowledgeble, fun and enjoyed what she did. She was a great steward of their brand. We enjoyed all wines tasted but the standout was their 2019 Lever. This blend has 80% Tannat, 19% Syrah and 1% Roussanne. It is a big boy with great structure and surprisingly manageble tannins, perhaps velvety tannins. Their goal in all wines is to achieve balance. This showed in all the wines we tasted. TOP Winery is in fact a hidden gem. Outstanding environment, outstanding wines, equals an outstanding wine tasting experience.

It's 16,000 square feet of underground tunnels. As one of the few spots offering complimentary tastings to our complete surprise! This winery is a hidden gem. We loved the selection so much we had to pick up a few bottles for home! Overall Great wines, beautiful views & amazing service! Definitely going back!

By the end, pretty much everyone in our group had found a wine they wanted to take home--including the ones who swore they weren't buying anything. Dennis, our Tasting Room Host, made the experience. He was warm, very knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging with everyone--from the serious wine lovers to our six-year-old--while keeping things professional and elevated. The whole visit struck that rare balance: polished without feeling formal, refined without ever feeling rushed or "in-and-out." Dennis has been with Eberle since 2017, and you can feel how much he cares about the place. He spoke about the winery with such genuine pride, and as you look around the tasting room at the rows of award ribbons from years of vintages, it hits you--this is a place with real history behind it. That sense of legacy and care is woven into the whole experience. The historic wine caves are a must, the complimentary tasting felt generous and unhurried, and the grounds have that unmistakable Paso magic--rolling hills, big oaks, golden light, and room to breathe. We even crossed paths with Gary Eberle (founder, 1979) and his sweet black poodle, Vieto--one of those authentic, only-in-wine-country moments that sums up the welcoming spirit here. If you go, ask for Dennis--he turned our first visit into one we'll plan future trips around. Good to know before you visit: * Make a reservation--it gets busy * Don't skip the cave tour (you can even taste down there) * Large lawn & games--great for kids and mixed groups * Very dog-friendly * Private, romantic tastings available in the caves * Complimentary tastings + military discount available * Plan to stay a while...and bring your camera :)

The tour started at 10am cause it would be too hot to be outside in the afternoon. Our tour guy was very professional and knowledgeable about this massive vineyard resort. The tour took about an hour and half and finished with wine tasting in the resort tasting room. We were introduced to the entire property, history and facts about this winery. I really liked the cute goats on the ground. I was worried about them being in the heat and out in the sun. But our tour guy assured me that they made sure the animals stay in shaded areas and drink enough water to stay hydrated. The arts of this place are just fantastic. Owner is a big art collector so he covers quite a few cultures including Buddha (my faith)! All the arts are from the original countries so they are authentic. I loved the amazing art installations throughout the vineyard. My sign Virgo was on the top of the hill so we had to do a mill hike to see it. There is an art tour that we will do next time. I really want to know the details and histories of all the arts here. I was so glad that we decided to do this tour. If you ever visit Paso Robles wine country you might want to check this winery out. The prices were reasonable at $45 per person, $30 for resort guests and complimentary for members (2 people). The hours are Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at 10am. Reservations are required. Ps. I'd suggest not visit in summer, central coast summer temperatures are unbearable!

Yeah, I didn't believe it either, but then I saw a sign in their vineyard that proved me wrong. It read: "Water into Wine" And now, I'm a believer! So what brought us to this magical place you ask?? Well, besides the obvious (the wine).... It was the.... ok you caught me!! We came for the wine! Yeah, we were staying at the Ava Hotel in Paso for my wife's birthday weekend (definitely check this place out if you are looking for a beautiful spot to call home away from home) And being that we were in wine country.... We wanted a nice outdoor vineyard where our kids could be outside, run around, and get all of their energy out all while Mommy & Daddy had our own little R&R time sippin' on the good stuff. And let me tell you, it was Good Stuff! When we first arrived at Sculpterra, we already knew the place was going to be a hit as the parking lot was hoppin. And apparently we weren't the only ones that got the memo that this place was THE PLACE to be as it was just a little bit off the beaten trail from where we started out... Approximately 6 miles from "Downtown Paso" (through the city limits, down the 'ol country back roads and suddenly we were in wine country!) Prior to heading to the vineyard, we did a quick pit stop at McDonalds for the kids so they had something they liked. As for me and my wife, we opted to get some of the local fare items offered on site, cause what goes better with wine than a yummy charcuterie board? I'll answer that momentarily! But wait, theres more!!!! Upon finding a nice little table outdoors to sit and relax with our wine chilled in a bucket of ice, there was suddenly music to our ears and Love to my eyes! Yes, there was lovely Live Music being played by a band and out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a food truck serving Mexican Food from a local Mexican restaurant. Remember earlier when I said what goes better with wine than a charcuterie board? Well, if you guessed a little Mexican Food, then you are oh so right, but only in moderation! So in order not to ruin the good vibes of the beautiful vino from Sculpterra, I opted for just one taco and a cup of their poblano soup and man was it fire. The soup was piping hot and it had a kick of spice that made me spice from ear to ear. As far as the wine, the vineyards vibe and the entire aesthetic of the grounds, Sculpterra Winery & Sculpture Gardens (the vineyard was adorned with many abstract and contemporary pieces that are all photo worthy), this place checks all the boxes. The place is kid friendly as there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, with areas for the kids to throw a ball, run around, or even learn to play a g as a game of chess. A decent variety of Reds, Whites, & Blends are all up for grabs, so if you find yourself in Paso Robles with the fam or its just you and your hunny, definitely come check this place out and watch the miracle of them turning water into wine!

We had the burger, which... Was divine. Brioche bun, caramelized, onions, red wine bacon jam and an aïoli. That burger came with fries, which we also split, but both agreed they were the best french fries we've ever had. I do not know how they got them so crisp they were delicious. The views are great. We booked the "wine tasting and lunch", which was a 90 minute experience on their patio ($40). When we arrived, we were greeted with the first wine on the tasting list, which was the Grenache (pretty good, different than what I normally go for). The patio had a nice view of the rolling hills and we could see goats running across them in the distance. The tasting consisted of 4 wines, and we also got a bonus pour. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed the wine selection, especially the "Messer" red. We also ordered lunch, and both my Harvest Salad and Parmesan Fries were very tasty. I stumbled across Mitchella while…read moredoing a search on Yelp, and am quite pleased I chose this to be my one stop before moving on to the next city. The tasting at Mitchella Vineyard and Winery is $20 for 6 wines, with mindfully curated cheese pairings. (A fantastic deal considering the seemingly skyrocketing cost of everything.) The tasting fee is also waived with the purchase of 2 bottles, which is the route I opted for after completing my experience. Upon arrival I was instantly greeted by Lizzie, as she patiently and quietly waited for me to exit my car. She wiggled her butt toward the entrance, encouraging me to follow. Sweet little start to the day, I'd say! (The winery pup in case you haven't figured that out.) ;-) Rachel quickly greeted me and got me seated next to a heater in their enclosed patio, and the paired adventure began. The Viognier was paired with Kokos, a coconut Gouda cheese. Very surprising on the palate, and the wine definitely emphasized the coconut, while the cheese brought out the pineapple of the wine. The Chardonnay had a crisp mouth feel but still just the slightest hint of that butteriness I tend to love in my chardonnays. The subtle saltiness of the benning goat Gouda smoothed out the crispness of the wine. The Cheap B*st*rd (since I'm not sure what Yelp decides doesn't work for them), was quite enjoyable as a stand alone. For me it had the nose of what I would consider to be darker fruits and a generally more jammy wine, but it was smooth on the palate. The white Stilton with cranberry that it was paired out helped bring forward some of the fruit flavor, but the cheese itself wasn't my favorite (hence the stand alone aspect). The Tempranillo would be my grab a glass and a book and plop down by the fireplace (or on my balcony wrapped in blankets) type of wine. It didn't feel heavy and was just a nice sippable red. On the nose, for me, was a very dark red kookaburra licorice. It had a smooth, light finish and paired quite well with the mimolette (which I will forever know as the cannonball cheese thanks to Rachel!) Presumptuous, a zin, had what I consider to be a jammy mouthfeel (as I still can't figure out how exactly wine connoisseurs identify that!) It was paired with a Boschetto truffle cheese and I feel it brought out a very mushroom forward (favorable) taste when put together. For me, it isn't always about what can the food do for the wine... I love to experience what the find can do for the food! Give me a nice side dish of garlic sautéed mushrooms with a glass of this zin, and pretty sure I'm one happy girl. The only potential downside to me for this winery is that their restroom is a portable. While considerably clean, it's definitely a tight squeeze if you're a bigger girl like myself. Deal breaker? Not a chance. I look forward to a future stop when the vines are green and views expansive!
