I've been here twice but I don't remember what I got the first time and how the experience was. In my most recent dinner experience. We ordered: - tom kha with chicken - flavors were good, but chicken was dry. - pad see eww - flavors were also fine but beef was extremely chewy. - grilled salmon with curry on the side - salmon was overcooked; without the curry on the side, the vegetable vegetables and salmon would be extremely bland Not sure how they were out of sticky rice when had just opened at 4:30 PM. The server was really sweet, but I just don't see myself coming back for a third time because the food is just very mediocre to me.
You might think its a regular Thai place but its so more fresh. You get ridiculous amount of food, all delicious. People were so kind who worked here and the ambiance is beautiful.
We visited on a Thursday evening around 5:30PM and this place was packed! We were so surprised, but that's a good sign, right? Parking is a bit rough, there is about 3 available spots in front of the store and the rest is residential street parking. Which required a permit if you visit Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM(some something similar). Weekends, no parking restrictions. It took roughly 10-15 minutes before we were seated, they were so busy I think the lady just didn't have time to seat us. When we got seated, it was another 30 minutes before we were able to order. Then another 15 minutes before we got food. So from arrival to food was about an hour. Which was all fine for us since my friends and I were catching up! If you're here for a quick meal, that may not work out. By the time we finished our food and ordered dessert, they were closing(9PM). It was a very slow process, but the lets talk about the food: The food was very well seasoned and delicious! What we ordered: - Papaya Salad - 5/5 Fresh, crunchy, good portions and delicious. Maybe one of the best ones I've had, the spice was good but not unbearably spicy! - Chicken pad thai - 4/5 Good, but I definately wished there was some bean sprouts, peanuts and lime to add some texture. It was more like a big bowl of very well seasoned noodles with chicken. Which is good, but felt like it was missing something! - Mango curry - 5/5 Delicious, no spice really. Creamy and paired very well with the rice. They really put chunks of mango in the curry! - Bamboo shoot stir fry - 4/5 My favorite are bamboo shoots and there werent a whole lot of it. Nonetheless, it was good, but I was sad there wasn't enough bamboo. - Mango sticky rice x2 - 3/5 Good, but clumpy and very very sweet. The most sweetened Mango sticky rice I've ever had, they must've added a lot of sugar to the coconut milk. We had to use the back of our spoons to get the rice clumps mixed into the coconut milk. Overall, it was a good experience. Table service was kind of nonexistent, so it took a long time to get our orders and they were so busy we never got any water refills. The place is very cute though, very cozy. The plates were really pretty too, id viait again!
Dropped by for lunch. Got several new items to try. Highly recommend the rice noodles as the chewy texture is perfect. Price-wise in this high inflation poor job market economy, this is one of the best places to get lunch on a budget. Thai dishes were spot on. Not a fan of the crispy rolls due to the content. Didn't have the nice mouth feel due to the ingredients but was very crispy. Please note containers and bags are additional charge.
I called ahead to order a Green Papaya Salad and Chicken Satay skewers and was told the order would be ready in 40 minutes. I arrived after 40 minutes as instructed, but after checking in at the counter, I was repeatedly told to wait. I ended up standing there for another 30 minutes without anyone helping me or providing any updates. When I finally asked again, I discovered that my takeout order had been sitting next to the counter the entire time. No one informed me it was ready. What should have been a simple pickup turned into a 75-minute wait. Being ignored while my food was already prepared was extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
Super delicious, omgosh, I tried the pad thai with shrimp and the Phuket seafood with a lemonade (the lemonade went perfect with everything) flavors had me wiggling my toes while I was eating, I didn't even mind the price I paid....love
Never goes wrong with this place. I usually eat in there but today I ordered Togo and was impressed with their packaging. All lids were close tightly and extra bag for the curry. For stuffed chicken wings, they left one side of the box opened so it won't get soggy. No need to mention about the taste.... Great as always.
I ordered pineapple fried rice and Pad Kee Mao from Top Thai. The quality is decent and portion is big. I would love it a little more salty, but it is still flavorful. The interior design is unique. I will dine in next time. The staffs are nice and patient. They served my phone order within 15 mins.
We came here on a weekday and the place was pretty packed. It took awhile for someone to take our order, about 10 minutes. We ordered the pad Thai with chicken, the yellow mango curry with chicken, and the egg rolls. We thought the food was just okay. The egg rolls were super oily and had little flavors that I would have thought egg rolls would have. The mango curry did not seem like there were any mangos - it just seemed like bland yellow curry with dry chicken. The pad Thai was the only saving grace - it had good flavors as expected for pad Thai. But the chicken meet was dry and pretty much inedible. Not sure we would come back.
I got the shrimp, pet Thai, chicken wings with dipping sauce, a side of white rice and some fried banana bananas. All of it was fresh and delicious and was delivered through DoorDash . Quality ingredients with delicious flavor . Give them a try you will be glad you did . Bon appétit
Top Thai is true to its name and has over the last 3 years I went there weekly in seeing my dad in Hayward while in Hospice, of top quality food, service and friendly ambience. The pumpkin and Salmon curry are my favorites, along with authentic Thai ice tea and fresh Mangoes and Sticky Rice for dessert.
I got catering from this restaurant. For $180, I got big trays of pad Thai, basil chicken and papaya salad. The food was delicious and the portions were generous! The customer service was very kind.

Had a nice lunch here. We started with egg rolls and wrapped shrimp. For lunch we ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and 1 with chicken. Great portion! Will have another nice lunch with the left overs. My husband ordered Eggplant and pork over brown rice. Very tasty! The ambience is like going to someone's home and our hostess was very friendly and sweet. I would recommend this for a nice lunch spot. read more

Thai food is amazing, and if you're in the area, I would recommend this restaurant if you love quality. I ordered the pad Thai and you can really taste all the flavor, compared to other spots where the quality is less. But something that we noticed was the service. We had to wait more than 5 minutes before someone came to check on us and asked us for our drinks. The restaurant isn't too big or wasn't too busy when I went but it did take a while. And the parking situation is a little tricky as it's on one of the busy streets in Castro Valley, so be mindful of that. read more

We ate there last evening. My wife and I are in our mid seventies and vacationing from out of state. We wanted a place for dinner and appreciate Thai food offerings. An old friend had been there for Mother's Day and posted on Facebook their favorable visit, so we decided to try it. It is a clean and cozy venue. The food was fresh and light. The sauces were lively and not too spicy for our mature taste. Portions were plentiful, so we will be having Thai food for lunch today in our VRBO Casita, and we didn't even share a soup, knowing that would be too much. The mango and sticky rice hit the spot after Satay chicken and my wife's yellow chicken curry and my shrimp. The shredded mango salad was fresh and ample. Top Thai has the usual thai menu, as well a lunch menu. the decor is typical touristy. to go only. eats: pad kee mao aka drunken noodles (9.50) chicken, lunch menu -very thick tasty thick thai soy taste with the usual slightly dry chicken. not a bland version of thick sauce either. -usually go for pad kee mao as i don't eat rice often fried eggplant not a frequent choice as it's stirred fried, has extra oils. quick service, food ready in 5 minutes... read more

Super friendly service and good food. I went here on a crowded Tuesday afternoon for their lunch special which includes a drink. I ordered the beef pad see ew and passion tea for $12. The passion tea was a little too sweet for me but the pad see ew was really good. I like how chewy the rice noodle was and how it was plated. Overall, the lunch deal seemed like a good value. Many people took half of their meal home but I was really hungry so I ate all of my lunch in one whole sitting. I would definitely come back to try their chicken wing appetizer and more of their beef pad see ew. It was delicious!! read more

Pleasantly surprised!!!! Yellow Curry w/ Brown Rice & 5 Crispy Rolls! Lots of flavor and fresh! The taro in the Crispy Rolls... Omg Placed an order to go... received a complimentary Thai tea during my wait. small lunch crowd however staff was attentive and friendly! The customer service was very wonderful and I appreciate the check ins given every so often while eating. We ordered Shrimp Pad See Ew, Tom Yum Soup, and Pineapple Fried Rice. The noodles were soft, flavorful and I can tell the noodle quality was fresh. The bowl of soup was a good serving for 2 people. The rice was a bit sweet and savory, a cool combination of both. Overall, my experience here was great and welcoming! I enjoyed the atmosphere here and can't wait to come here again! read more

AMAZING. This place is great, and there Curry does not disappoint. I did find their Tom Yum to be on the sweeter side, so keep that in mind depending on your preferences. The yellow curry was amazing and one of my favorite things to try! I also like that they were able to make the pad Thai flavorful without over spacing it. The chicken satay was good, but I do wish that it had a slightly more flavor and a bit of a kick. read more

Small family owned restaurant located on a Main Street in Castro valley. Parking lot has minimal space, so we opt to park on the street. There isn't a front cashier or hostess, just a sign to ask you to wait as you enter before being seated. Without a waiting area, it got crowded when another larger group came in after us and the servers were too busy to notice. Once we were seated at a booth and given menus, we noticed that the prices for the dinner a la Carte is quite reasonable - on average $12. Rice is extra side order. The flavors of the dishes are decent, I found that the pad Thai sweeter than I would like, the curry wasn't as flavorful, and the pad kra pao on the water/saucy side. The dishes was generous in size and we were able to bring home leftovers for a second meal. The server was very sweet, checking on us regularly. read more
We ordered DoorDash from Top Thai this week even though I live about a few minutes away! Just wasn't in the mood to leave the house after a busy work day. We got the chicken pad kee mao and pad thai. I'm not a huge fan of the usual sweet flavor of pad thai, so I asked for it to be medium spicy. You definitely get a lot of noodles in the pad thai! It was a pretty dense box. The pad thai flavoring wasn't evenly mixed so you got a bunch of spicy with some bites, while others had rarely any. Great flavor if it was thoroughly mixed together though. The flavor on the pad kee mao was on point! It was my first time having this dish... I can see why it's a favorite here! The only downside was that the noodles were over cooked. Quite soft for my liking. Overall, you definitely get your bang for your buck here compared to other Thai restaurant competitors. Both dishes had aroma of flavors and tender chicken. Just wished consistency and texture were a little better. I'd definitely go back and give them another try though! read more

Great everything. This is a hole in the wall, in the middle of Castro valley but the food and service is spectacular. Definitely recommend. The service ladies were so nice and super attentive. Originally it took a while to take our order and get drinks but I understand they were busy. You won't regret going here. I'll definitely come back or order take out in the future. Highly suggest to come here right when they open at 11:30am during lunch hours. This place gets busy quickly! Food was delicious and customer service was great! Our waitress did the best she could as she is the only one. Love the Thai food here. Just expect service can be slow if you want to dine in. Order take out if you are in a hurry. read more

I'm giving them a one star because there was a whole fly inside my cashew chicken. Employees are nice and friendly. Flavor of food 5 out of 10. Some are dishes are rated higher but I'm not going to take another chance after this. It's small restaurant, it's pretty quiet inside and parking is hassle. I really wanted to give this place a good rating but finding two flies my food. I feel sick, I ordered a lot of food and threw it all out. I know that sounds wasteful but it's not worth getting sick over. I won't be coming here anymore. read more

Love how they offer bean thread noodle. I ordered the woosen or something. Reminded me of pad Thai but with bean thread noodle. No overly sweet with a tangy flavors, the way I like it. The angel wings, the one with stuff meat, weren't that impressive. The meat was a little too chunky, not ground like others Angel wings I had in the past. The portion size is huge. Enough for 2 meals. read more

Wow this place right here is amazing first time every trying this spot what can I say it was an experience ..... there isn't enough world's to describe this place. First to start off with the food is delicious and the customer service is spectacular I highly recommend coming here if anyone is ever craving Thai food this is the place to come the food is so authentic and the people that work here are very lovely people. it's a very welcoming establishment and a great spot to eat at. read more
