Cute place with super quick service. We had the chicken egg rolls, very tasty. Crispy with fish sauce on the side. Pho with brisket and flank steak. Regular size was more than enough. I also had a Thai iced tea. The only thing that I could complain about is one of the glasses of water had a tiny speck of something in it. It was exchanged immediately with an apology. ive been here before and i didnt review, so I obligated myself to revisit. its cold and wet outside, but the Pho is like my own personal heater. The Regular bowl is about all you need, its more noodle and meat than broth (yay) and the broth is decent and consistent. there is minimal wait and i was ordered and served in about 3 minutes. the price is very reasonable so you cant go wrong with good pho at averages prices. cheers! read more

Haven't been here in a while, but the food is just as good as I remembered! Great flavorful broth, good texture on the noodles. Piña colada smoothie is good if you like sweet like me. Excellent service! They were slightly busy but we were still seated right away, ordered fast, and our food came out fast as well. We were seated and done eating within 30 minutes. There's a small parking lot so you can park there! People leave quick whether they're getting takeout or eating indoors so there's usually plenty of parking. There's only one waiter working who basically does everything but clean, since another older employee does that. Be patient! If you order a drink, it'll take a while because he was the only one making them. However, I got an avocado smoothie and it was definitely worth it! It is not too sweet! The pho came out within 5-8 minutes after I ordered. The chicken rice noodle in beef broth was the perfect temperature because I love my broth HOT! There was not a lot of chicken pieces but that's ok. There was a good amount of rice noodle and I was pretty full! You walk back up to the register and pay. They accept credit card. Visited this pho location off of a friends recommendation and this spot was just okay. I ordered the pho noodle soup with pork shrimp and squid, the broth was good but that's all that was really good. The pork was bland and had a bad texture and the shrimp was lacking as well. Not to mention they do not put a lot of meat in the phos. Overall this would not be my first choice when it comes to getting pho. read more

Pho Tai has always been consistent. I remember when they first opened a while back. When my family is in town, we usually go here. I ended up getting a number 6. The broth is good and the noodle portion is decent! The meat portion is a little small, but it doesnt matter because it's overall decent. Inside is small, but the windows make it feel hella bigger than it is. The place gets pretty hot, but they usually open the doors for the breeze to come through. All the servers there are pretty nice and I think they're cool. Parking is a bit rough, but you should be able to secure a spot. read more

It is middle, as in it could be good, with many choices like ox tail and claypot fish, but it doesn't do any well. The appetizer shrimp rolls have no taste and needs sauce, the meat is too chewy, especially the expensive ox tail special, and the fish was cheap and not flavored enough. Also, the tiny cup of vietnamese coffee was almost too bland, if that was even possible, too much ice? The seating is about 6 tables of 4 and a few smaller tables and 1 big (for 6?) table, a single bathroom and 1 server, greeter, cleaner. Parking is not that great. I would drive 15 min north to Saigon 2 or south to fremont for many better options. Having said that, if you want mochinut at lee's sandwiches, walking here is fine. read more

Pretty good for a Vietnamese restaurant near my house. We ordered pickup and doordash. We had the combination beef pho, bun rieu, beef stew, chicken fried rice, and bun Bo hue. The bun Bo hue does not taste like legit bbh so don't get it. The broths are just a bit salty but just add a bit of water and it'll be good. The condiments seem fresh. Had dinner there with the kids last night. I ordered the beef stew noodle pho and some fresh spring rolls. The other ordered the special Oxtail pho and beef over rice dish. The food was really good and tasty. It came out nice and hot, perfect for a cold evening. All though we had little roach crawl from one dish, the owner replaced the dish immediately and took care of us. Let's face it...you find roaches almost everywhere. Sometimes you'll see them and sometime you won't. I've been to enough places to not get bothered by it. No one place is immune. From fine dining to dives, they're everywhere and then some. Pho Tai is conveniently located near Interstate 880 and Highway 92 in Hayward. It's a little family owned establishment that shares a building and parking lot with a auto oil changing station. Weird sounding but it's a fact. When I say conveniently located that also means it's right on busy Jackson Street, ie Highway 92 in Hayward, thus getting out of the parking lot on Jackson during day time hours can be a challenge. Use the other parking lot exit near the oil change shop for less hassle. Masked entry, masked workers and sanitizer near the front door and on each table. Fast polite service. Driven past this place probably a hundred times, but just finally gave them a couple of tries. It's in a very heavily traffic'd area and not a fan of the congestion trying to get out of this parking lot. Place does look cool though as they took the effort in some interior decor that elevates them from your average pho dive. Cool cohesive interior with cool almost National Geographic style photos of rural Vietnam. I dug it. Chicken Egg Rolls ($9/4*) Solid egg rolls for being chicken, usually it's ground pork. Fried pretty light but still has nice subtle crunch. Clean oil too. Classic sweetened fish sauce condiment to dip is proper but wished they put more or bigger lettuce leaves, so we could wrap them rolls. The contrast between oily egg rolls wrapped in crisp lettuce is a match made in heaven. Beef Rib Special Pho ($19/3.5*) There's only one size for this and it is large. Crazy expensive but also a good amount of food. I finished one after a work day and I was stuffed. Tons of protein, from shredded tripe to flank and maybe some sliced beef. Then a monster beef rib also tops, which is why I was pulled in by this monster bowl, and I rarely ever order a large sized bowl. But that beef rib wasn't the best as it wasn't a quality butcher job as the meat looked a bit hacked up versus a nice slab surrounding the rib bone. And the rib wasn't as tender as it should have been, didn't come clean off the bone, and when simmered in soup, it should. The noodles were totally fine. The flavor of the broth was pretty good too, salty enough with enough spicing to let you know which country you were slurping on. But for a pho place, it was the most NOT hot bowl I think I've ever gotten. Usually it is piping hot coming out of those kitchens. This was just barely hot, and when you add those bean sprouts, squeeze of lemon and jalapenos, just dropped that temp to barely warm. Just an observation on my out. Bo Kho (Beef Stew Noodle Soup) ($16/4.5*) I liked this much more than that combo meat pho. This was super legit almost on all counts. The broth was rich and flavorful, bordering on salty (I only drank 1/2 the broth). It was brick red in color which is proper and also had an oil slick on top. I don't know why places don't skim off that fat for this particular dish, as most places leave a good amount of it (kinda kills it for me). Even though this place has it too, it was much better than most, so grading them on a curve. The beef seemed like beef chuck to me, which is money. Nice and tender but still with a bit of chew. Again above the curve. And their egg noodles are perfect and would probably be my choice for this place from here on out. Salted Lime Soda ($6.50/5*) I love these. It is like they preserve limes/lemons in salt and sugar til it forms a mushy fruity preserve. They top that with lots of ice and give you a can of plain fizzy soda water. You pour it into the glass, but now you have to stir all that citrusy goodness from the bottom to flavor all that carbonated water. Totally that sweet/salty principle here just turns this into a lemonade on steroids. Awesome imported concept. Both my friend and I have to go through Hayward to reach our homes from work, so we often meet up for a quick early dinner. We both love Vietnamese food, so I'm sure we can make this a viable option. I just have to figure these Hayward streets out that's all, they are chaotic by design. read more

I was craving for some pho and Hubby suggested coming to Pho Tai to eat, since it's nearby and it was getting late into the evening before he had to go to work. The restaurant is a little small, but not TOO small, and side door is not available, will have to go to the front to enter. We arrived and were seated right away. I ordered the number 1, Hubby ordered the number 17 and we shared their fried calamari. The fried calamari was so delicious! I would most definitely get it again as an appetizer. I pass by this place all the time whenever I go to work in the peninsula area. One day mother nature paid a visit and I needed something comforting to calm my cramps, and I really was not in the mood to sit in traffic, so I finally gave this place a try. It was around 530 when I arrived and it wasn't too busy when I got there. It started picking up while I was eating though. I got my usual that I get at every pho spot, ironically it's pho tai Plus a side of spring rolls. They served the spring rolls upright which I thought was cute and different. My favorite items at Pho Tai other than their eggrolls: :: #34 Beef Stew Egg Noodle soup :: #50 Vermicelli bowls w/char protein /eggroll :: # 80 Beef Shortrib on Sizzling platter :: #116 Shaking Beef :: #170 Garlic noodles - this is a hit or miss on garlic! Above dishes are my "go-to" items and usually consistent...since the pandemic it's mainly takeout with a few tables outside...Pho Tai is great at packaging the items separately and carefully. I read one #%*#* reviewer gave 1 star as their takeout of pho was in 3 different containers, and had to assemble on their own (wah!) Theres not a lot of lunch areas open as restaurants commonly open at 11am. So i finally tried it. Gotta say the prices are high. But I get it... with inflation and rising costs of ingredients like eggs, the prices are understandable. I look at it as big portions anyways. Definitely portioned for groups. I purchased the iced viet coffee (made to order) delicious. And i ordered the fresh spring rolls ($8.65) and then the garlic noodles with beef )$18-ish)***prices may be different when dining inside. And its better tasting dining in since the food is brought to you right as it comes outta the kitchen. Paid a total of $40ish and it's actually worth it due to big portions. I totally took the rest home so i can eat it with my family for dinner later. If you think about it, its $20 for lunch. $20 for dinner (for at least 2!). Okay so naturally, I don't trust places that offer a cuisine from multiple countries. I even read a few bad reviews and was instantly cautious about trying anything. Since I frequent Lee's Laundromat in the same parking lot as Pho Tai, I tend to choose Pho Tai over Lee's Sandwiches all the time. (I've had bad experiences at multiple Lee's Sandwiches locations based on quality and freshness in the past) I always get my avocado smoothie here because it's so creamy and sometimes I get to slurp up avocado bits that weren't blended all the way (thank you!). My parents love their fried chicken and fried rice together. I've tried a few dishes, but none of them really stood out for me. However, I have to admit they offer pretty decently good beef pho. It was clean, tasty, and just what I wanted. I specifically prefer my beef pho with rare steak slices, tendon, tripe, and sometimes meatballs. They are not stingy with the toppings either.
