By far the best sushi in Hayward, I dream about the Dennis roll, and the staff there are so nice, it's amazing.

Solid, no frills, Japanese spot. Reasonable prices, amazing attentive dining service and everything always tastes fresh. This is my place to go to spot when I want to go out to eat but not spend an arm and a leg on dinner. It's not a super fancy spot where they get the highest quality fish so this isn't a place to go if you're a sushi snob (or feeling snobby in general). It's more like a lowkey spot to go to when you just don't feel like cooking and you so happen to be close by. You know what I mean? I also love dining here because the service has been consistent and attentive. Who doesn't love that?! Don't skip on the posted specials!! Also this restaurant has been here for yeaarrrssssss. Like at least 20++ years. I honesty feel like the quality of the food and service has gotten better over the years which is amazing. Can't be mad at that. Truly a Hayward gem! read more

Wife and I arrived here for a Luncheon on a Saturday afternoon at about 1230 or 1pm. We were greeted warmly by the staff, introduced to the table of our choice and our drink orders were taken with the delivery of our menus. As this was our first visit at this store, we asked questions about how to order and questions about the various menu options. The staff was extremely patient and full of information and responded positively to our questions. Our food was delivered promptly and hot. The facility is clean and the staff continues to keep it that way. My wife ordered the salmon bento. As indicated, her food arrived hot but the salmon was over done to the point of being dry. I ordered steak. Food arrived hot, but the steak teriyaki was extremely chewy... tough. The miso soup was served hot and promptly and IMHO prepared well. We also had the Gyoza. They were prepared perfectly and served hot. Overall a good dining experience with the exception of our main protein on our main course. We may consider this a "do over", but it will depend. read more

This is a great place to eat udon on a chilly evening! We also tried the donburi that had a good proportion & came with a complimentary miso soup. The food was great but minus one star because they only had two servers for the whole restaurant and they couldn't keep up with all the tables. Went here to meet up with a dear friend of mine for dinner. A real mom & pop shop! There were some regulars and even loyal customers stopping in to say hello. I adore places like this. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. The service was attentive and I felt like I was being served dinner at relative's house! It was clean, and had plenty of space for us. The best sushi in Hayward! Also a cozy dine in restaurant with nice decor and the nicest waiters/waitresses. They make you feel like family! Every roll I've ordered has been fantastic! My kids and my parents and my husband and I all love it. It's our go to restaurant experience! My favorite roll is the Hawaiian roll-coconut shrimp cucumber with tuna and avo on top! It was Friday date night, and my better half and I didn't want to drive far, so we tried Naked Fish. We've driven, but only a few times. It's in a strip mall by Safe Way and 24 Hour Fitness. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is small but has roughly 14 tables set up in 4 tops and 2 tops, and there are about a dozen chairs around the sushi bar. Decor is just okay. Don't sit at the front tables by the door; you will freeze. We did, and we ended up asking to move. The menu is a fairly normal sushi restaurant menu. They did have specials, but we were never told them. They have them written on a chalkboard, but then people sit in front of the chalkboard, so we didn't see it until after our order was taken. We ordered: Bento Box Two Miso Soups Agedashi Tofu Spicy Tuna Roll Miso soup was super tasty and very nice on a chilly night. Bento was good. My better half enjoyed it. Agedashi Tofu was good. The sauce was a bit salty, but I like that, so it didn't bother me. The tofu was soft and creamy. Spicy tuna roll--I never received it, so I wouldn't know. I had the tofu and soup and ordered the spicy tuna roll. My better half and I shared the tofu, and then his Bento arrived. Still no Tuna Roll. My better half literally had one piece of chicken left on his plate when a server asked me, "Can we get you anything?" I said you never brought me dinner. They never came back and told me why. They did apologize and remove my soup and tofu from the bill. I don't know if they were understaffed or just focusing more on the number of to-go orders they had, but I left hungry. The staff is very kind. They are the reason for the two stars. I hate downing local businesses. However, the system has to get better. I'm just not sure how you missed my dinner. Anyway, life goes on. One other thing to note: They charge you for take out containers. You mean if I buy my food, sit down in the restaurant, eat, and don't finish, I have to pay you more to take it home with me? Nice. I'll bring Tupperware next time. I went here and got the food to go I opened the food when I got home and could not make out if I got the right order or not. I got the lion king roll as I normally get from other sushi spots, however this one was unrecognizable. My boyfriend got the four play roll and also regretted it. This is the worse sushi I had in a very long time. I have been going here for years and believe that they changed ownership, this would explain the drastic drop in quality. This place will always be a go to for my family and I. Personally, I have always had mixed reviews of this place but always coming back here because of how often my parents love to come here, so it holds a lot of sentimental value. The food is good here for the value. We were seated pretty quickly for a Friday evening and our food came out quicte quickly. We were even given a roll on the house that was super yummy! There isn't a lot of seating but I've never had an issue with having to wait and I've come all different hours before. The staff is really nice and friendly. I always get their Sunny California roll and my absolute favorite roll is their Hawaiian roll because it has a little bit of sweet with the coconut shrimp but also a little bit of spicy. I drove back and brought them the bag, told them to open it and they seen it theirselves, all they kept saying was how SORRY they were... I still can't believe this happened. They told me that never happened before and the bags came from China so that's probably what it was but when you open the bag to put my food in there, you guys didn't notice!???? This was my first (and hopefully last) time I've had greasy sushi. I didn't know sushi could be greasy like a burger, but it was, I ordered a lion king. I typically order a lion king from anywhere I get sushi; this was the worst lion king I've ever experienced anywhere. It will not be a repeat purchase. There were a few other turn-offs as well. I asked a question about the content of a sushi roll and was met with an "I don't know" by the staff. I find this incredibly suspicious. Also, we ordered several sushi rolls, they were all packaged together in one to-go box (we ordered takeout) and were not separated. This made separating the orders from all our party members very difficult. This experience was surprisingly disappointing. I won't be returning, nor will I recommend this place to anyone I know - whether I like them or not! read more

Naked Fish has been a favorite sushi spot for me over the years, but the past few visits had been a miss for me - from 4 stars to 2 stars. This is a semi-busy shopping plaza due to the gym and various restaurants/stores, but there is usually parking in the lot. The restaurant is a bit small, so there may be a long wait - it is best to come early when they open. The salmon nigiri and salmon roll has been tasting a bit fishy and it has not been as fresh as usual. The waitresses were not as friendly as usual, while the sushi chefs were not as attentive - if you ask for no wasabi on your nigiri, half of the time there still will be some smeared between the fish and rice. read more

If you are from the East Bay, you have had to hear of this place at the very least! I have been here many times and it does get busy but the service is always good. The whole crew is so nice, they do know me by face LOL. The owner usually makes the sushi with his helpers at the sushi bar and I love that! The place is small but worth the wait. We started with the shrimp and tempura appetizer and miso soups. Their tempura is the best I have had, it is a 10/10 recommend if you like tempura. For our mains, I had the Beautiful Roll and my friend had the Green Dragon Roll. The beautiful roll has all the works you want in a roll- tempura shrimp, mayo, siracha drizzle, tuna and salmon, and more! I order this every time I come here, truly. The Green Dragon Roll was a special one because it has soft shell crab on the inside and as a side and topped with eel. It was my first time trying it and though I'm not a big fan of eel I didn't mind it in this roll; it also has spicy crab meat, avocado, and a garlic sauce. these two rolls are definitely worth a try if you want something different and fun. What a sweet neighborhood Japanese spot, right here in the humble town of Hayward... so happy to find them! It's a Friday night and I just started a dryer load of laundry at the laundromat across the street and had forty minutes to pick up a fast dinner. I placed in an order for Spicy Tuna Roll and their Lemon Drop Roll, sub tuna for the salmon, since I love tuna. 15 minutes later, my order is ready and I'm devouring fresh tuna deliciousness in my car as my clothes tumble dry.... This is our neighborhood go-to for a sushi fix during COVID! I have ordered from here many times, but always for takeout. They never disappoint. The customer service is really good and the food is always ready at pickup. My only gripe is the salad. That is not why I eat here, but their dressing is way too fluid. I am used to eating thick, creamy and authentic Japanese dressing on my Japanese salads, but I don't know what happened here. We usually order the sashimi dinner, a few rolls and a bento box. I ventured out and ordered the udon soup and I was not disappointed. The sashimi always tastes fresh and the combination plates are always delicious! I grew up coming here and I still stand by it. Servers are so friendly and helpful. We (my family) will typically go for the bento boxes - a great deal. It's honestly enough to eat at that meal and then take some home for the next. We love to get the sesame chicken and lemon drop. My mom's favorite thing to get is the baked mussels. My dad loves the udon from here and my sisters and I always rotate through the rolls because they're all great and portioned generously for sharing. read more
