Our tried-and-true sushi spot whenever we do a staycation in Fremont! They have plenty of variety on the menu, fresh fish, great rolls, and tasty appetizers; you really can't go wrong here. FOOD: 8/10 I usually order one of their omakase sets. The fish is always fresh, reasonably priced, and delicious! Their specialty rolls are also solid, especially the baked rolls. One of my favorite things to order is their oyster shooter. I honestly don't remember the official name, haha, but it's such an explosion of flavors in one bite; fresh oyster, quail egg, ikura, and green onions all come together so well. SERVICE: 8/10 The staff is always friendly and efficient. They're attentive throughout the meal and quick to help whenever you need something. AMBIANCE: 8/10 A standard sushi restaurant with a comfortable amount of seating. I also like the open kitchen concept, where you can watch the chefs prepare the sushi.
I used to love this spot but now the sushi is just okay. My husband got this to go for me since i love this spot, but it was just an average sushi upon tasting and I am not sure what happened to this spot, so I am sad to update my review We have gotten multiple different roles over time
A New Neighborhood Favorite! Gotta love finding a new go-to spot so close to home. Kiya Sushi has officially made it into our regular rotation! So far everything here is top-tier, but a few absolute standouts: -- The Sushi & Omakase: The fish is incredibly fresh! The Chef's Choice Omakase Dream Box is an absolute must-order. -- Specialty Plates & Rolls: They have a great selection--the Summer Roll and the Oyster Bat Roll are both excellent. Will try others next time. And the fresh oysters are chef's kiss. Beyond their menu, I love that they welcome you with complimentary edamame and end your meal with a sweet scoop of ice cream. Incredible food and thoughtful service. We'll be back often!
This spot is tucked into a small plaza with a number of other restaurants--finding parking is tough, so be warned! We were lucky to snag a spot and were seated pretty quickly, even though they seem pretty busy. The service was quite good here; they saw when I dropped my chopsticks and replaced it for me almost immediately, and were very attentive to even just eye contact as a request for service. They also offered us a small dish complimentary edamame as a starter and a little scoop of free ice cream at the end, which was a wonderful touch. The food came out really quickly after we ordered. The sashimi was really good! The selection of rolls wasn't my favorite (a lot of them contained crab salad, which I usually don't go for), but I did like the agedashi tofu a lot. If you visit for lunch, they have a couple really great lunch special options. I have tried the 3 rolls for ~$16 combo, and it is definitely worth it. The rolls came out a bit messy and not quite uniform, but they tasted perfectly good. Overall, I would (and have) come back! It feels very much like a middle-of-the-road sushi spot with pretty agreeable pricing, and I think it's a good choice for a casual, unpretentious sushi meal.
I think this may be my new favorite sushi place in fremont. To start off, they gave us complimentary yummy edamame. I think Chicken Karaage can definitely be better, it was ok, not bad. I got the Mango crunch roll which was really good loved the flavor. Also we loved the monster roll (shrimp tempura) and the sauce on top really added to the flavor. One of the rolls we got had baked salmon on top, which seemed tasted ok, I think layer could've been a bit thicker. We also got complimentary ice cream at the end of our meal, strawberry this time, not a fan of strawberries but appreciate the gesture. Service was great as well!
The sashimi here is high quality. We got the 20 pc between 2 people and a couple hand rolls. It's tucked away in a corner in an average looking plaza, but make no mistake, this is some good sushi. Not just for the area, but for the bay. The price is also super reasonable. Service is fast and friendly.
My hubby and I finally got a date night in on Friday and ended up at Kiya Sushi in Fremont. Well worth the wait! As a vegetarian, I always walk into sushi spots mentally bracing for slim pickings. But Kiya actually delivered. The veggie options felt intentional and not a substitution tacked onto the menu. Everything was fresh and well put together, and you could tell the kitchen has standards for what goes out. I went with the Veggie Crispy Roll (subbed soy paper) and the Mango Secret as-is. Both were delish and would recommend if you're a veggie lover! A little spotlight for their garlic edamame! The spice, the garlic - it was so well flavored/balanced that I found myself using the regular edamame and dipping it into the leftover garlic/spices. Haha One heads up on seating: if you're going on a weekend, grab a reservation. We walked in and waited about 20 min for two, which wasn't bad, but the spot is cozy. Lots of 2 and 4-top tables packed in pretty close together. Plan accordingly! Overall a great find and a solid date night spot. We'll be back.
I looked on Yelp for my husband's favorite food and found Kiya Sushi. When we showed up, parking was really tight with a lot of cars going in and out--the lot is way too small for the number of businesses there. Nevertheless, we stayed and were told it would be a 40-minute wait for a party of eight. They were really busy and had a lot of people waiting at the door, so they were short with us and barely spoke. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the service didn't get any better. We sat for at least 5-10 minutes with no one coming to our table, so we finally asked someone passing by if we could put our order in. She told us to wait and that she'd be right back. When she returned, she said it wasn't a good time to place the order because they were really busy... like, what??? We asked her to clarify two more times, and we heard her right--she wanted us to wait to order because the food would take too long since they were so busy. Not sure how waiting would help when they were still taking other tables' orders. We decided to go ahead and put our order in anyway and just wait. Since we were a party of eight, the food came out sporadically. Some of us got soups (for those who ordered full plates), and some sushi started coming out. We were starving--it was almost 8pm--so we started eating. Unfortunately, my kids were the last to get their food since they ordered chicken teriyaki plates. Once everything arrived, I have to say a lot of it was really good. We got: Angry Fish Sushi: 4/5 Mango Spider: 5/5 California Hand Roll: 4/5 Shrimp Tempura Roll: 5/5 49er Roll: 3/5 Teriyaki Chicken Plate: 4/5 Shrimp tempura: 10/10 best sauce we have ever tasted. Overall, we were really happy with the food once it came, but I wish the service had been way better. I understand being busy, but at that point, they should hire more people to help.
My sister had a doctor's appointment at the nearby Kaiser Medical Center and I wanted to try this place for lunch afterwards. Found a parking right in front which said reserved but the hostess said it was ok to park there. We walked in and it's a cozy place and ordered 2 salmon teriyaki lunch specials, which come with miso soup, a generous salad with delicious dressing, 2 gyozas light and crispy, 4 California rolls, and of course the tasty salmon. I also ordered a Salmon Skin handroll full of yummy crunchy salmon skin and to top off the meal, we were each given a delicious complimentary scoop of green tea ice cream! I will definitely come back to this place with the great service, tasty food and cozy ambience.
Tried a newly opened sushi restaurant in Fremont. Order: - Monkey Brain 10/10: the crunch of the outer layer, the spicy mayo, and the avocado plus crab meat was a blend of the perfect bite. - Himachidon 10/10: the fish was super fresh and light. I loved this. It was also served with soft sushi rice that made a delicious texture combo. - Baked Scallop roll 7/10: this was a delicious sweet seared scallop roll but the tiny scallops were not my favorite so it killed the overall roll. - Mango Crunch roll 7.5/10: there was a large piece of soft shell crab piece in each bite which was a pleasant surprise. The mango and other ingredients didn't pack as much flavor as I hoped, so this roll was only decent. - Deluxue hand roll: I didn't love the fish in this roll, so 5/10. It was too fishy and seafood for me.

TLDR : Great food, nice ambience and quick service Loved the place for the amazing Sushi rolls! A nice and wonderful ambiance with a cool spot to see your rolls getting prepared. The crunchy rolls were good and the fish was fresh. Loved the jalapeño bombs! Overall a great experience
This is a better than average neighborhood sushi restaurant that gets extra points for presentation and food quality. The service can be a little bit. Hurried and brusque but they are efficient and it is clear that Is their goal. We went on a Saturday night and it was busy enough considering we went around 7:30 but there was not a line out the door. Like most places these days they have a fair amount of to go and pick up orders as well, however, that did not impede the service in the restaurant. The dining room is small with a pleasant ambiance and brightly lit, and the bathrooms were quite clean as well. I would like to try to visit on another day, perhaps a week night when it does not seem so hectic. They did give us a very nice little scoop of strawberry ice cream., complimentary to palate cleanse at the end of the meal.A nice spot if you do not mind the hurried style of service.
The food here was excellent! I mostly ordered the appetizer which turns out good! I love the bbq ribs so much fats which I love! Baked mussels are my fav! My colleagues order sushi and it was our first time and it was great experience with food and service! Staff communicated us and recommended us different food! The place is small, there are lines but we got a table quick. I will Come back to try other sushi rolls. read more

Service was amazing and food was without a doubt affordable!! They had the lunch special which was from 11am-3pm everyday special. Comes with salad, miso soup, and your choice of either 3 rolls or 2. Soo affordable and well worth it! They even gave complimentary edamame when we got in. Truly would like to say this might be my top sushi spot!!!! I want to forever keep this place my special gem. BEST sushi spot in the area. Located in a small shopping center, Kiya Sushi is easily accessible. It's always busy, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit before getting seated as it's not a huge space. Service is great, staff is attentive. Onto the sushi... SO fresh, great quality, and can't beat it for the price. I've been here often enough and never had a miss. I love the number 1 roll (cucumber wrapped) because it's a low carb option with amazing citrusy flavor. I've had a handful of their rolls and they're all incredible. Another item I always order is the Takoyaki. Personally, I like them pretty crispy on the outside and a decent amount of octopus inside. These hit that mark perfectly! Great service and good food! Throughout the meal, our server was very attentive and kind. She offered us edamame to start off the meal and green tea ice cream to close off our meal, all on the house. My fried and I got the dinner combos, with curry katsu and the saba shioyaki. Portion was good, but frankly the meal didn't particularly stand out. My favorite part of the meal was actually the salad, it was really fresh and the dressing was delicious. I'll be back to try the sushi to give a more accurate review :) read more

I think this is one of the best sushi spots in Fremont! The rolls are priced pretty reasonably and everything always tastes fresh. The only downside is the parking lot can get packed and difficult to find parking, but still worth adding this place to my restaurant rotation. The hamachi carpaccio here is one of my favorites! read more

Finally I have found actual good quality sushi in the Bay Area. This place is a hidden gem. I'm originally from Seattle and spend almost a decade living in Vegas. Both foodie places with high quality seafood and sushi with a plethora of options. I've lived in the Bay Area for almost 5 years, and have been genuinely disappointed with the lack of sushi options and lackluster. There's one other sushi restaurant I found that is high quality, but it's all the way in San Mateo. This one is close to home and is our new go-to sushi spot! We came on a weekday evening. It was busy but we were sat right away as there was one table open. Ambiance is casual, it looks like a small family run business. Our services was attentive and the staff thanked us as we left. We loved every item we ordered on the menu, which doesn't happen too often. We ordered miso soup, chicken karaage, a Bento plate, and 4 different sushi rolls. I forgot the names, but the cucumber wrapped no-rice roll and the roll topped with black Masago, were my favorites! So happy this place exists, read more
Celebrated my mom's birthday here. Restaurant is small but was packed throughout the whole night. All the dishes were very reasonably priced and fresh tasting. - dream box #1: 5/5 I loved everything. Came with real wasabi and all so so fresh. They even asked if I want the ebi shrimp head to be made into a soup. - chicken karaage: 5/5 juicy chicken fried so crispy - lobster roll: 3.5/5 you really can't taste the lobster in here but still good - garlic edamame 2/5 more on the sour side and too spicy I wish I lived closure otherwise this would be a very frequent weekly dinner read more
Come early to avoid the wait! We come around 11:30 on Saturday and were able to get seated quickly. This is a small and popular place, so it does get filled up quickly. Service was fast. All the sushi and sashimi tasted fresh. Free edamame as appetizers. Hands down no complaint there. Price is very reasonable too. I'd come back again if I'm in the area. read more

Stumbled upon this spot while in the area and what an incredible find! It's now one of our go-to sushi restaurants. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, and I always see lots of families with young kids enjoying their meals here. My toddler absolutely loves it, which says a lot since he's quite the picky eater! We've been here many times, and the consistency is what truly stands out. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Some of our favorites are the Salmon Shioyaki Set, Sashimi Salad, and the Mango Crunch Roll - each one perfectly prepared and delicious every time. Even when the restaurant is busy, the service is always on point; attentive, quick, and genuinely kind. Their fish and seafood selection is consistently top-quality, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. A reliable, family-friendly sushi spot that delivers every single time. I didn't get to dine in since I had a time crunch for lunch so I ordered to go. When I came it looked like there was a good amount of seating. It could definitely get crowded though. The parking lot is small but I was able to find a spot. Everything tasted fresh and the rice to fish ratio was perfect. I was craving handrolls and they did not disappoint. I ordered the deluxe hand roll and it was seriously melt in your mouth. And the salmon skin hand roll. It was flavor packed and just the right amount of crunchiness. Salmon maki was good. And the hamachi toro was delish. All reasonably priced. Will come back and dine in next time! read more
Came here on a Sunday evening and it was quite busy. The restaurant isn't it too big but it's not too small either. The ambiance is nice and casual. The service was great! Straight to the point and all the staff members were very attentive. Empty plates would be taken pretty much as soon as you're done, which is great since the food comes out quickly too! The food was great for the price! We got maybe 5 rolls and an appetizer for around $60! They also have a big menu with lots of variety. Will definitely be back! read more

Highly recommended by my youngest foodie child & she knows what's up. The volcano roll was delish. We also shared a dinner combo which was plenty of food for two ppl. We also received complimentary edamame before our orders came out and then offered free green tea ice cream afterwards. Best of all, each member of the service staff were very nice & hospitable. Wow! The service here was amazing. The parking situation was difficult on a Friday night. We got here around 8pm and zero parking anywhere. Luckily found street parking. To be expected though, given the amount of food spots in this tiny plaza. There were only 15 minute parking spots available, which I assume was for the liquor store mostly or for pick up. We were seated right away for a party of 6. Luckily, a large group had just left! They set down a bowl of complimentary edamame which has never happened to me before, a nice touch! I was eying the dinner combination options but ultimately went with the chirashi don. Several people in my party went with the dinner combination and wow they give you full rolls! The chirashi don was plated beautifully, the octopus was a little fishy so wasn't my favorite. Wasabi really helped tone it down. My partner got the chicken udon and California crispy roll. He enjoyed his meal as well. Portions were very generous and food was good in quality and taste. They informed us that they were offering free ice cream and asked if we wanted any. I've been here many times, but realized I never left a review. I didn't want to make that mistake again! Kiya's sushi is consistently delicious. Here's what we had: Fried Oysters: These were okay, but a bit heavily breaded and dry for my taste. The oysters themselves and the sauce were good, but I'd personally stick with their Takoyaki instead. Mango Crunch: A crowd favorite for a reason! The fresh mango was the perfect refreshing bite during this heat wave. Sakura Roll: Very filling and the eel was excellent. Dragon Roll: Another classic. The combo of eel, unagi sauce, avocado, and shrimp tempura is spot on. Green Tea Ice Cream: A sweet treat on the house to end the meal! Despite the heat wave making it a very busy day, the service was as wonderful as ever. They are always responsive and sweet. I'll definitely be back! read more
3.5 stars! I have mixed feelings about this place because I've had inconsistent experiences. They give complementary edamame while you wait for your food. I got the Salmon Lover (4/5) and a Mango Spider (3/5). The Salmon Lover was good; the fish was nice and fresh. Unfortunately, the mango spider fell short for me.
