When I first walked in, the initial impression was concerning. There were dirty dishes left on tables, visible grime on the walls, and a lot of clutter behind the cashier area. It immediately gave the impression that the restaurant might not be very sanitary. I came with a friend who recommended the place and had driven us there, so I didn't feel comfortable leaving right away despite my first impression. Service was almost nonexistent. Customers are expected to walk to the beverage cooler to grab their own drinks and utensils, and the staff rarely checks in on the tables. Another issue was the closing time. The posted business hours say they close at 10:00 PM, but around 9:30 PM a staff member informed us they were about to lock the doors and suggested that we leave. Also, make sure to check your receipt, as gratuity appears to be automatically added. As for the food, it was unfortunately subpar and did not make up for the overall experience. Food came out fairly quickly and the staff checked on us multiple times to see if we needed anything. I got the tomato soup base and found it a bit on the lighter side. Quality was whatevers for those, but still the fact they offered that! Another great thing that's included with the price is the duck rolls. Went here for lunch with a friend. I love how there are so many meat choices and the service was great. It helped that we went during lunch where it was not crazy busy like dinner normally is. Food was delicious. We went with the Tom Yum Broth and the Pork Bone Broth. Their Tom Yum had that perfect sour spicy flavor, nothing to overpowering like other places. We did have to add some of our dipping sauce in the Pork broth because it was lacking a little flavor, but it was good, we just needed to add that extra to our liking. Their brisket was nice and tender and really soaked up the broth that added that extra juicyness. They also had other things at their sauce bar like Honey Walnut Shrimp, which was really delicious. The beef angus was also good and cooked very quick like the brisket. They had a nice selection of veggies and other sides for our soup. Once they saw that we were low, they came to our table and asked if we wanted more meats. They did that for all the tables. It can be very overwhelming if workers keep coming to your table asking if you want something, it takes time away from you enjoying your food. They really paid attention to their guest and knew the ques when it looked like we all needed help. Water was always refilled. We did have to hunt down our waiter to get more broth, but other then that, they did their best making sure we were all happy. Substantial portions of any of the foods that you order, and they are fresh. The size of the pots are large and can accommodate a lot of food. They can fit small and large groups easily, too. Came here for lunch to try out their AYCE hot pot. The place wasn't that busy when we got there. Probably about 4 tables were occupied. Our server was really sweet. She gave us the order sheet to pick our items. We picked the pork bone soup broth for our base. She showed us the make your own sauce cart and the ayce sides cart which has orange slices, jelly dessert dish, seaweed dish and one other dish. She suggested to pick about 10 items first for the both of us then add on when we need more. For the soup items we picked Angus beef slices x2 Quail eggs Udon noodles Napa cabbage Bean curd skin Fish ball Beef tendon ball Dumplings Honestly the items we picked were pretty standard but I didn't like the cabbage and or tofu skin. The cabbage was a bit bitter and wasn't really cut small enough. The tofu skin was tough to eat even after cooking it for awhile. The angus beef slices was ok, it was not as tender as other hot pot places but since it was sliced well (thin) it was still enjoyable to eat. The soup didn't taste like much but somehow works really well with the udon noodles. I was thinking of doing the 2 broth options but they charge you extra $5. 3 plus is extra $10. Our servers came by to drop off the order page again once she saw we were finishing our plates. The pot is huge definitely works for at least 3 people. We had lots of soup leftovers when we were done. Overall Food 3* Service 5* I don't know if I would come back specifically to this hot pot place. I came here for weekend dinner to try this place. I felt like the soup wasn't as flavorful as other hot pot places, it was pretty bland in my opinion. Although it is ACYE, I was surprised by the portions that came out. When we asked for beef balls, dumpling, meats, I was surprised how much came on the plate. From my experience at other places, usually, it's not that many items so we usually have to ask for more but for this time, one dish/serving was a good size. There are some self-serve items including the sauces. I am a big fan of the sauces here. They have my favorite sa-tay sauce. I find that satay sauce is hit and miss at hot pot places since it's a Chinese style sauce so hot pot places that are more like shabu may not have it. I thought the service was fine, it wasn't amazing but wasn't horrible. We do have to flag the server couple times. This is located across the livermore outlets in the 99 Ranch complex. read more

Initially we put our name in for Mumu hotpot but the wait was 1 hour so we decided to try Top Pot. You can only get AYCE here and the cost is $35.99/person on Friday/Sat/Sun. They advertise the Peking duck as well which was what caught my eye. Realistically it's not AYCE because they are short staffed. The food took really long to come out and we had to flag ltrly 4 different waiters MULTIPLE times throughout the night and even get up ourselves MULTIPLE times to tell them we did not receive the various items that we ordered. It took so long that we gave up and did not get our moneys worth. We asked for specifically the shrimp and Peking duck many many times. We each got one serving (so again, not AYCE) and it didn't come until we were practically done with our meal. We would've definitely have been done with our meal if we weren't waiting on the shrimp. At least you have to cook and prepare the Peking duck, the shrimps came FROZEN like a rock. Still had ice all over them. So what took so long? & They forgot some items that we ordered like the pork kidney, quail eggs, etc. and we didn't want to wait anymore. The food and the broth weren't even particularly good or any different so I likely won't be returning. The staff is very busy though and rushing around constantly. We drive from San Jose to eat here at least twice or four times in a month and I'd say it's definitely worth the drive, especially during the winter time and when there's cold weather because who doesn't like to eat soup when it's cold. Am I right? For all you first timers, here's what to expect! There are two entrances to the restaurant. They'll seat you regardless of what side you walk in from. Once seated, you'll receive a laminated menu with a dry erase marker. You'll mark off the type of broth you want, meat, vegetables, sides and drinks. This is how they'll take your order. There is also a sauce bar to make your dipping sauces and a small section of hot and cold appetizers. Once you start to receive your food don't worry about not having enough space on the table, they have small side tables that they place your meats and sides on so it doesn't crowd your table top! There are also 3 different appetizers you can order on the menu. There are beef skewers, lamb skewers & Peking duck wraps. They are all worth a try! They are absolutely delicious! The restaurant is spacious. Music is just at the right volume. Loud enough to hear and jam to if anything and low enough to still have conversations with the people you're dining with. Just to note with all the steam coming from the stove tops on the tables, their fans do make the place a tad bit cold. So just a heads up and don't forget a jacket! 10/10 for everything.
