Of corse it's just your regular old donut shop so it's not going to be anything special, but there are some interesting options on the menu, but I haven't seen in any other place similar to this, for example Dunkin' Donuts. I was very shocked to see that topped on it has a Taro drink as well as others that you may see in a Asian tea shop, best part is that it actually wasn't that bad. This Top Donut shop was a former KFC/A&W fast food restaurant, just by the look of the building from the outside. This location has a drive-thru and the inside is pretty clean with plenty of standing space between the counter and the few table seats near the front windows. I've been meaning to write a quick Yelp on Top Donut since I've been stopping at Top Donut for quite sometime for donuts and coffee (both hot and iced), whenever I'm in Lowell. This location is only minutes south of the NH border, which is a great thing for me. Top Donut is a great alternative to Dunkin Donuts. I prefer stopping at local donut and coffee shops before I would consider any big chain that's already saturated throughout the region. The donuts and fancies at Top Donut are fantastic and priced reasonably. Each donut is 85 cents and a dozen donuts is $6.50. The glazed donut, coffee roll, and maple crueller are my favorite treats and go well with the coffee. The frosted cake donuts have a nice crunch outside and soft inside. The glazed donut is very soft and light. When it's my turn to bring in donuts to work, I will be picking up a dozen donuts at Top Donut next time. read more

When it's time to indulge in donuts, This is definitely the place to do it. A traditional creme-filled, which is also glazed, in my recommendation. These and are not always available at other donut shops. Tough to beat this place. Drive thru is very convenient. Go there for donuts. This place used to be a good place for tasty donuts a few years ago. Got two donuts for me and my six year old son the other day and he got sick after 3 bites from it. He threw up in the car shortly after. Its partly my fault for accepting donuts late in the day that looked a little suspect. Needless to say, they might not be as clean as they could. I like to support small businesses but with success and expansion comes shortcuts and complacency. Disappointed because they do have tasty donuts when it's fresh. This Top Donut is located in the old A&W/KFC building- I never noticed it until I actively looked FOR it. (I usually go to the Aiken Ave location, but I'll go to this location when it's more convenient to.) It is relatively close in proximity to the new Dunkin Donuts in the new DCU plaza by Tedeschi's (or the old Store 24/Video Thunder), and the food/coffee is SOOO much better. You'll be hard pressed in driving the extra block, but it's worth it. Also, unlike most places in this city, you won't have to pay for metered off street parking. Ordering the drive-thru is as convenient as it is ordering inside. (Moreover, the drive-thru location here is more convenient than the Aiken Ave location. You have to see it to understand.) Like the Aiken location, the baked goods are really, really good and they offer more specials. Bring cash! read more

I love Top Donut. The coffee is hands-down better than DD. The donuts are also better, but I hear stories of people occasionally getting a stale one. My favorite thing: the hazelnut roasted coffee. Not a flavor shot, actually brewed in. That with an egg sandwich on an english muffin, and I'm good to go. I will actually swing through the bank to get cash, then cross the street to Top Donut rather than go to dunks where I can use a card. That's how much I prefer it. read more

This used to be my all time favorite go to coffee spot. I would drive across town from Chelmsford across the bridge just to get coffee. They have changed. Coffee doesnt taste the same. Prices went up which I understand with the change in economy. Their prices are never the same when j get rung out. Today, I can say that I will no longer be going there anymore. I ordered my usual hazelnut mocha ice with cream only. The woman took my order at the drive thru. I got to the window and the worker gave me my coffee only to say it was not what I ordered. Then she goes and get my donut. I told her I wanted mocha hazelnut and she looks so puzzled and took my drink back. She came back after like 3 minutes and said "Hey you do know this is an extra 1.00 for mocha right." I just look at her and said ok. She keeps repeating herself with the dumb look on her face. I dont care to pay the extra dollar but first of all you got my order wrong and did not even apologize for it. You came back with my coffee and were rude to say that Hey you know it's more for mocha. I don't care that it's more. You should've charge me what I ordered originally and make it right. I mean what's so hard about a hazelnut mocha ice coffee? I'm not asking them to go harvest coffee bean and dry them and grind them or go get cacao beans to make my mocha from scratch. I'm just beyond amazed that the workers have that in them to say that "Hey its more for mocha you know that right ". Ahahahahah. I feel like most business when they know they are good and expanding that they dont care about customer service anymore. They have the best, freshest donuts around! I love their chocolate frosted French crullers and their chocolate frosted old fashioned. My boyfriend always gets anything with maple. They also have apple fritters, bear claws, muffins, raspberry/lemon. Bars, bagels etc. we have never been disappointed. The coffee is really good as well. The only downside is they don't take credit cards but it's no big deal since we know this beforehand and bring cash. The prices are very reasonable. read more

Wow I was totally dissapointed! I am a donut lover and this was nothing special.The dryness was so bad.We ended up throwing away most of the dozen my kids didn't even like them.I would take Heavenly over these but nothing compares to Kanes in Saugus.Coffee was average. read more
