I've been to a lot of Vietnamese spots. Like...a lot. But Saigon Sandwich House? Easily one of the most gorgeous I've walked into. We're talking bright, floral, curated decor, and a sleek modern layout that makes you pause for a second like--wait, is this still a banh mi shop? Oh, and it gets better. The other half of the space? A full-blown Vietnamese bakery and café. Croissants and cà phê sữa đá sharing a wall with grilled meats and pickled veggies. It's a wild, beautiful setup. Naturally, I had to go classic. Grilled beef banh mi, let's go. I was ready to be blown away. I wanted to love this sandwich so badly. I really did. The presentation was clean. The bread had that golden crackle. But the beef? Tough. Chewy. Hard to get through, and not in the satisfying "rip and savor" kind of way--more like "why am I fighting this sandwich?" And the bread-to-meat ratio? Way off. The large Thai tea was nearly $10--more expensive than many drinks at Starbucks. This was probably the best Bahn Mi and spring rolls I've had since moving to NH from Seattle. They had ALL the sammy options, I love the ham bahn mi, idk what the meats are but it's really good. This one came with 3 different cuts AND pate. Huge fan. I wasnt expecting the pate but it was yummy on the sandwich. If I had one negative thing to say it would just be that the bread was HUGE. Not a "complaint"... but maybe a little more mayo or pate to carry the bread. I also got a standard grilled pork bahn mi which was good. The spring rolls...again, FIRST rolls with BOTH shrimp and pork since leaving the west coast. And the sauce was t just hoi sin it was legit spring roll sauce, peanutty. (I have no idea what this sauce actually is but this place's was the closest to the real sauce I'm used to.) also got the pork spring rolls and YES. Unlike some previous reviews, I actually felt their meat portion was reasonable - got some braised beef part, brisket, and pork loaf. Saigon special banh mi combination is always my go-to- this one had a nice crunch from the bread but chewy inside. This one has pate, head cheese, and roast pork in addition to the usual toppings plus a little deseeded jalapeño. I also ordered the special Saigon che - it was bigger than I expected! It came with a ton of goodies - red bean, pandan jelly, grass jelly, and coconut milk. It was on the sweeter side so I actually crushed some ice to eat with it since I ordered it to-go. Starting off, I've been at this place before it was taken over by the current owners since I was little. This place has changed a lot, becoming a place where I can come relax and do some work while having the same food I've grown up with. i stoped in here for a late lunch around 2pm saturday afternoon to grab a sandwich. i ordered pork chop bahn mi and an order of summer rolls. I ate it close to the shop, right outside, next to the river. the bread was fresh, warm, and slightly crispy, just perfect. the pork was tender and tasted like it had been marinated. i tasted notes of lemon grass and it was delicious. the meat was moist. i ate the summer rolls later. they were fresh, refreshing, and the peanut sauce complimented very well. I can't say enough good things about this family-run Vietnamese sandwich shop! This is probably my local spot for quick bites and milk teas. They have a vast variety of sandwiches, prepared food, sweets, snacks, smoothies, and more! And the shop is clean pre and post quarantine. I used to call in to order in advance and they now have an option to order online. It depends on what mood I'm in but if I don't know what to eat, I just stop by and grab a bunch of things to take home to get my grub on! Combination Banh Mi- Baguette, a variety of hams, pate, mayo, pickled vegetables, cilantro, onions, soy sauce, cucumber, and jalapeno. I mean, it's crunchy goodness. Nem Nuong Spring Rolls- Rice paper wrapper, grilled pork sausage, lettuce, vermicelli, chive, and fried eggroll wraps. I've never had a spring roll with fried eggroll wraps in a spring roll before! It's so good! If I have to recommend anything, it's this. It comes with two rolls and an orange dipping sauce. Milk Tea- They use actual brewed tea here! You can't go wrong if you stick to the banh mi and the Vietnamese coffee. Both are the best that I've had anywhere in New England! The egg rolls were quite good too- just the perfect size. I'm hesitant to try more of the soups after having tried the wonton soup twice. There is nothing that comes with it, so you can't adjust the broth with any other notes. It also has wilted romaine in it, which is odd. The wontons tasted freezer burned. But it makes sense to me that soups aren't the focus here. read more
