OK. Service isn't too friendly as there is a language barrier. Prices are high. For a wool peacoat (waist length) and a pair of wool dress pants it was $24. When I went to pay with AMEX which they clearly accept the man told me no that my card would "make his machine angry" and tried to cut a deal with me for cash. Not cool and not the way business is in 2019. They did nice work on my items and they were ready quick so points for that. If you come here, just pay cash to avoid the hassle. read more

Here's the deal. The guy who works here is really nice- and quick at getting the laundry done. Only negatives is the place is a little pricey and they don't deliver or wrap your clothes in that brown paper that keeps them all together. Top Cleaners is just that - tops. Mr. Leem is extremely nice and does excellent work. I have had clothing, quilts, and feather comforters dry cleaned - all have come back in excellent condition and for a reasonable price. I have also had a suit jacket an pants tailored to fit and my girlfriend had a bridesmaid's dress done - once again the work was excellent. This places pricing is ridiculous. I wish I had checked the reviews before I went, but it's location is convenient for me so I went in to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed. Simple dress, really nothing exciting. The owner charged $72. For a HEM. When I questioned the outrageous price he said it's because it has 2 layers. I have had entire dresses rebuilt for $100. A $72 hem is insane. Can't speak to their dry cleaning, but definitely avoid this spot for alterations. read more

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Mr. Leem is quiet (there's a language barrier) but very courteous, and FAST! I brought in about 10 items, and when he asked what day I'd like them back I explained that I was in no rush, whenever he could get them back to me would be fine--he assured me they would be finished the next day! All my delicate sweaters and shirts were excellently cleaned and in perfect condition--he even fixed a busted zipper on my favorite jacket for FREE! (He even took me aside to show me exactly why the zipper sticks, and how I can avoid problems with it in the future). Granted, it's a little more expensive than I'm used to paying. But for all you looking for a cheap cleaners, the way I see it--why wouldn't you pay a little more to get more? I will absolutely be back. read more

This is the only place in the entire city where the shop owner knows my name. Clothes are always ready in time (as early as next day)! Never lost anything. And there is no chemically dry cleaning smell! I took in a winter coat to be cleaned. It had been missing a button all year long, and Mr. Leem noticed and sewed a new one on for me without me even asking him to! I also had jeans hemmed here, and the work was good. I had the arms of a suit coat taken in and the buttons had to be moved, the work was a little bit messy, but in 2 years of regular service that is my only issue. Still 5 stars! read more

The service here isn't bad, I live 1/2 a block away so I've gone in here a few times with items. The problem is that you never know what something will cost when you drop it off. The first time I went to Top I had a comforter, fitted and flat sheet, and 4 pillow cases laundered for $20 flat. But, later that summer I had ONE pair of shorts laundered (not dry-cleaned) for $10, even though the sign said laundry is $1.30/lb and these were not 7 lb shorts. I thought maybe it was because I wanted it rushed ( needed it within 4 hrs) but then around Halloween I bought in one dress to be dry cleaned, no rush and it was $19. Honestly, it seems like the owners pulls a number out of the air when you come to pick up your items. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic, but the prices seem excessive to me. read more

I had been a regular customer until the past week when I picked up my dry cleaning and a day later noticed there were rust spots on the front of one of my newest dress shirts for work (less than 2 months old). I went to Mr. Leem and showed him and explained to him that the spots were not on the shirt when I brought it to him. He then proceeded to tell me that I caused the rust spots and that there was no way he could. He then pulled out a Chef's shirt and said "See, people cause spots, not us" Well no effing sh*t, you just pulled out a Chef's shirt! I told him I would like him to pay me for the value of the shirt as it was ruined while under his care, and he refused. I told him he had the worst customer service I had ever seen and I will never go back to that a*shole again. read more

Top Cleaners of Lincoln Park is a great place. They have consistently been the best place for my cleaning and tailoring. A few examples of why I like them: 1) they have never ruined clothes during dry cleaning (which sadly, cannot be said for many cleaners in Chicago), 2) they turn it around quickly, and even will press a shirt onsite in an hour or less (great when you need a crisp dress shirt last minute), 3) they allow me to be flexible in pickup - sometimes I need just one item and can't carry the full load of clean clothes - they say come back later anytime, 4) the prices are low. Most recently, the zipper on my favorite leather jacket broke (the bottom piece completely ripped off). I was almost positive it would never be the same, but I took it into Top Cleaners to try to fix it. The jacket is a unique grayish color. At first, they said they only had black zipper material (which is understandable given that they can't have colors for every jacket). Reluctantly, I said go ahead and put it on, but please make it look as good as you can. Then, when I showed up, it had a gray zipper that almost perfectly matched (as good as you could possibly get). They had special ordered it. All for less than $50, which was the original quote. Generally, I have had terrible experiences with dry cleaners since moving to Lincoln Park (I pass by 4 on my way to Top Cleaners, and 3 of them have ruined at least one item I brought in during either my first or second visit). But I highly recommend Top Cleaners. read more

I have used this dry cleaners exclusive but I am done. I took a light weight comforter in to be washed and dryed. $33.00 REALLY??? I ask specifically to have it just washed and dryed. Also wasn't satisfied with some repair work done after was specifics on that too. Apparently he doesn't listen...I will not go back plus it smelled like cigarette smoke when I was in there. Worst cleaners in the city! I had 2 suits dry cleaned and the buttons on the jackets AND pants were ripped off. So I asked to have the buttons replaced, and was then verbally assaulted by man that spoke absolutely no English. I explained that I could not understand what he was saying but he continued to yell and say it was my fault and I ripped off the buttons myself. OH and wanted to charge me to sew new buttons on. I will NEVER go here again and would like to warn everyone to not trust them! They will ruin your clothes!!! read more
