I was so angered by my experience here that I made this yelp account in order to save others the trouble of coming here. Last week I brought in 2 pairs of jeans and 1 pair of slacks. Here were the prices: $10 for hemming the slacks $20 for reinforcing both crotches on the jeans $22 for tapering the jeans I had asked for the 10% discount from the website, which should have came out to $5.20. When the man at the cashier attempted to alter my receipt, he paused with his pencil, trying to calculate this amount. He rounded DOWN to a lower discount of $5 because he was too lazy to use the calculator right by his hand. He said,"Five dollars...FLAT!" I brushed this off as to not appear cheap, but still, the gesture made me very uneasy. My worn, raw selvage jeans were quickly marked with chalk to be tapered. I spent about 5 minutes repeatedly telling the tailor to take it from the inseam, he nodded in agreement and said that he understood. I let him know that outseam was a very special selvage, and he couldn't cut it off. Today I went in to find that he had wrongly tapered my jeans from the outseam. I expressed to him my dissatisfaction and said,"You took it out from the outseam!" He said it had to be done so the pants wouldn't twist, which was not the understanding we had last week. He knew what he had to do, but took the job anyway and ignored what I said. Even though he had written down my number, he didn't bother calling to alert me about this detail, or I would have called the job off. I was so angry that I stormed out. I came here to have a new dress altered - take the hem up and cut the sleeves larger. As a new customer, it probably only took about 15 minutes to get in and out of there. Maybe the lady could tell I was nervous about trying out this new place or something, because she kept saying, "no problem...no problem." :) No idea how much this kind of alternation normally costs, but they got it done for about $40. And in case you're wondering, the dress came out great...way more comfortable!! I'll be going back. read more

Tony is definitely my new go to man for alterations =D Amazingly great work for an amazingly fair price. Altered my oversized suit I got on sales at Banana Republic to fit me like a GLOVE. And it wasn't a little oversized...it was A LOT oversized (both the jacket and the pants)! He also hemmed my wife's bridesmaids dress and she LOVED the finish. I get all my designer jeans hemmed here -- they are always evenly hemmed, and you can't tell they've been hemmed. Susana's only charges $9 for jeans, and if you specifically ask for it, they can keep the original hem. Sometimes they get a lot of customers, but typically i get my pants back within 3 days. My all time favorite tailor around! Tony is absolutely amazing with alterations. I had two flower girl dresses that needed to be altered. He did a fantastic job altering them. Reading the other reviews on this company I will disagree. Suit alterations are expensive. It's not like hemming your pant legs. I found the price to be reasonable and the work good. They were able to accomodate my rush and negotiate on the price. I pretty much altered the shoulders in, altered the back part of the suit jacket and also the front part of the jacket...pretty much reconstructed the jacket for me. read more

Horrible work. Took in 2 pants, one for a crotch tear and one for shortening. The former tore again within 2 minutes of wearing with an absolute minimum of stress on the repaired area. The shortened pants were not cuffed properly, resulting in a bell-bottom shape (not a good look for men's dress pants). Will never use them again. read more

I come here often to get my premium denim hemmed, and they've always done a good job by me. They charge $15 if you want to keep the original hem, which I recommend. They usually tell you a week for any alteration, but I've heard someone ask for it quicker while I was there once and they were fine with that. Maybe all you have to do is ask? I rip holes in the crotches of all my pants and they fix them all, so nicely. And for cheap. and recently, when a fix they did broke after two days, they agreed to fix it again for free. Plus they're super nice here. It's good stuff. read more

After reading the reviews i ended up taking a few items here for tailoring. As others mentioned, it's a small place with "tailor" at the top with Susana's in the window. I went around 9am one day to drop everything off and around 10am another day to pick up and never had any problems with parking. I had a pair of 7 jeans hemmed - i chose the standard option and not to keep the original...she did a great job and they fit perfectly. I also had a few button-up jcrew shirts brought in on the side. i'm 6'2 and 175 and even though most jcrew shirts say they're tailored, i still need them brought in. She did an awesome job and i'm really pleased. She kept the original seam and they look great. Each shirt cost $19. Overall i'm very pleased. When I dropped everything off she asked if I needed them rushed; since i didn't, she said it would take 1 week which was fine for me. I'll be going back for sure. read more

True - suit alterations require a great amount of skill, and are reflected in price. However, when I wanted to get a pair of jeans and a pair of slacks in as "testers" - the original hem on my Joe's were horribly brought up, with over 2 inches of excess inside. My slacks were a little better, but they were not taken in all the way as marked. My jacket is another story. The lining wasnt reattached evenly, and Again, not taken in as much as i requested, and the sleeves were cut too high. read more

I have been a customer here for years and I should have left a while back. This place is not good in fixing higher end clothing. They are ok in hemming up simple stuff. But when it comes to fixing jackets (leather or otherwise), they are not qualify as tailor. Their charges are high ... actually too high for the quality of work they do. read more

Tony is awesome. He has a special way of marking long flowy dresses, to make sure the tailoring is spot on. He's a *real* tailor! Okay, although I have never set foot inside this place myself, my friend has helped me bring my jeans there for alterations twice and I must say that I am very satisfied with their work. One of my jeans had shiny gold stitching and they managed to match the thread so closely that I can't even tell the difference! You pick up your jeans after one week, which I think is ok, and the price is quite reasonable - $9 for original hem! I am definitely coming back if I ever need to alter my jeans! read more

Very good and professional service. They have fitting rooms for you to try on your clothes and then they do measurements and markings to see how short you would like to cut off your long pants. read more

Hemming-They do a decent job. I've only come here twice to hem my jeans. Both times I was happy. Price-It's a bit more expensive than the other tailors ($8 vs $9) hence the one star off. Space-I like the fact that there are three fitting rooms so you don't have to wait too long (yeah, can you believe it, this place can be a bit packed at times!) Wait time-The lady is very accommodating, there was once I needed it by the very afternoon, and she agreed to it with NO extra cost! Cool, huh? Then this time I am not in a rush so she told me to come back in a week, and I'm fine with that. Parking- never a problem-plenty in the lot. free, of course. ;) It's a yay for me~ read more

I came in to get measured and he was very patient with taking my measurements I felt so bad because I did forget to tip him but I'll be back again and will highly recommend him to any one in the area looking for a tailor. I hate writing bad reviews, but many of the negative reviews on here are 100% true. When Susana owned the tailoring business it was great. Once Tony took over i received terrible service. His attitude and customer service is very poor. My shirt length alteration wasn't straight and he kept arguing with me. Finally when he busted out the tape measure it was off by 1/2". He wouldn't admit the mistake and reluctantly fixed it. Next time was hem on my jeans. I asked for original hem and it came back without the original hem. Ruined my pair of jeans. Again argued about what i asked for. These incidents were several years ago as i've moved on to using Bellaz Tailoring. read more

I have been going to Tony for the last 15 years or so and the reason is that his work FAR EXCEEDS work I have had done at other alteration places. I have taken everything from fancy dresses to blazers to pants to skorts and tops for Tony to alter and have always had good success and have never received an item back with any soil on it so I cannot speak to that. Tony not only does excellent work but his turnaround time is always quick as long as I'm reasonable with when I need the garment back... and he is also up front why he does not recommend doing an alteration that way but explains why and provides an alternative alteration method and then he let's you decide what you would like. Tony's Tailor is also open 6 days and week and he is open until 7 p.m. during the week which is good for those folks that are tied up through the day and he is open on Saturdays too for those folks that can't get away during the week. I consider myself a discerning client and will not just go anywhere else for my tailoring items that I want assurance will turn out perfect the first time. Found Tony through Yelp, went in to get the sleeves on two of my suit jackets to be shortened in so my shirt cuffs actually show. He got them both done in two days just as I requested, so I brought in two more suit jackets for him to alter. Nice guy who does a great job with quick turnaround. read more

I want to quickly chime in about Susana's. I originally found this shop as a result of a quickie Google search as a I needed a tailor in OC. Based on some reviews I thought I'd give them a try. They've done an excellent job. I not sure on the price as I've never bargain shopped for alteration services, but the quality of their work is fantastic. I've had everything from jeans hemmed to a very expensive suit re-cut (from a 42 to a 40) and all have turned out fantastic. read more

Do not go here for dry cleaning! They said they would take the stains out of my jacket and when I went to pick up, the stains were still there and then they insisted on charging me. Poor service, poor quality cleaners. read more

My experience was awful. I decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews however, it did not pay off at all. I had 3 designer jeans hemmed here (each of which I paid over $200 a pair). I asked for original hems however only ONE was hemmed with the original bottom. On top of that the two other jeans had stitching that didn't even match with the colors of the stitches of the original jeans. I can't believed I paid $15 for each when they didn't do what I asked for. It even took them 1 week to get them back to me. I would recommend you stay away from this place unless you don't really care about whatever garment you're having done. You can definitely find other places for better work and better prices. read more

I was referred to Tony's by my local dry cleaners. I had just purchased an $800 sport coat and needed the sleeves taken up a bit. The buttons on the sleeves had a special design so I asked and was VERY clear that I wanted the button stiches to look identical to the way they came with the jacket. They said they'd have to send it out and it would cost me $45 but they could do it. They said come back in a week it will be done. A week goes by I come back and they guy, im assuming Tony, says he tried calling me (which was BS), to say that it was going to actually cost $65 b/c they had to send a lot of time on it. I was pissed I drove back (20 mins) when they said it would be done, a simple phone call from them would've been nice. Anyways I say fine go ahead I want it to look right and I'll pay the new price. i said just be sure it looks IDENTICAL to the way it is now and even pointed out the special blue stitching. He said come back in a few days. So I come back a few days later, he pulls out the jacket and I have a look and the stitching they used was PURPLE. If they actually looked at the other buttons they would've seen the correct color. I said this is clearly purple, he tried to tell me it just looked that way. I grabbed the sleeve buttons and put them next to the main jacket buttons and it was obvious they were different colors. He then says I'll take care of it and come back in a day. So now im on trip #3 to this place (it's 35mins round trip from my house). I come back a few days later he pulls out the jacket and this time the buttons looked much better and the color of the stitching was correct. However, i roll up the sleeve and instead of doing it the right way and pulling back the lining they sewed the stitching right thru the lining. I said this is not right and looks terrible. Instead of him just owning up to it and saying it didn't look right, he made it worse by giving me some BS answer that it made the buttons stronger. it made me even more mad for him to think i was that stupid. It looks like a 6 year old did it. I was really pissed, this is an $800 jacket and while yes I am picky i was specific on what i wanted. Even if I wasn't how can a professional sew stitching thru the liner. It looks terrible. I wouldn't bother with this place ever again. read more

I can not believe I just had 3 cotton maxi dresses hemmed for 75.00. This place is a rip off. I asked if they had a coupon to help with cost of their pricey service. The lady said yes I can give you a coupon when you come back. I don't think I will be coming back to get over charged for a simple hem. Went here today to get 2 of my dresses (maxi dresses) cut, for mere 2 inches away from the floor the lady was going to charge me 20 dollars per dress!!! When I told her that on yelp there were reviews that said it was $5 for a hem, she told me the website price was 10 years ago...and was super rude when I was talking to her. Good thing I just walked right out, don't come to this place because she clearly misrepresents her prices and there is no basis on her price range. read more

Not sure what the name is of the lady that owns the store but she is really nice, affordable and prompt. She got a couple of pants and jeans done within a few hours for an extra cost. I've been here when it was a man running the shop and it seems he just fills in for her if she's not there. He really doesn't know much about alterations so I suggest coming back when she's around so that you get your point across. FYI she told me she was moving her shop to another location really soon so make sure you go to her new location if she moved already. read more

I have given Tony some very difficult projects from making a Tadashi dress to an one shoulder dress ...to my kids outfits. Him and his staff do an excellent job. I also have given Indian clothing including salwar chanya and saree blouse. He always manages to make it look great and fit great. Prices may seem high ..but it's due to the excellent work they do. My cousin is getting married in a few weeks, so I bought a new suit and brought it in to Tony's for tailoring because it was near work. After taking down the measurements and paying for the alterations, he proceeded to tell me that I needed to gain weight. (That may or may not be true, but who is he to make that assessment). To top it off, when I came to pick up the suit, he dismissed my friend's suggestion of a more fitted look (I brought her along specifically for her excellent fashion sense) because I was too thin in his mind. He didn't do a bad job but I would like to think that our opinion mattered somewhat. read more
