However, they rushed my hem and there was remaining thread that were on my pants when I came home to wash them. I had to personally pull out the remaining thread from the original stitch. Service: They answered all the questions I had, very nice individuals who brought insightful advice and clear cost that you paid upfront. You can try on the product before hem and after hem in front of mirrors that have multiple perspectives. I brought in my pants on Friday and was given a timeframe of the following Friday. When I arrived earlier by 20-30 minutes of my timeframe, they did not work on my pants yet. I saw them working on my pants in the back and I ended up waiting 20 minutes past my allotted pick up time for my hemmed pants. Value: I waited a week for pants to be hemmed. I was surprised that my pants were given a 1-week timeline to be on the rack when they were hemmed on the same day less than 30-40 minutes and returned with rushed threading. However, I liked the clear pricing that customers received and it was at a reasonable price. Skillset: They seem very experienced in their work and are professional. If you're looking for a technical hem, I would come here with the understanding that they are skillful in their work, however you may not receive your product on time and it may be rushed. read more

Quality: I went here on Saturday to get a pair of slacks cut and hemmed. They were ready by the following Wednesday at 12 PM, and when I went to go pick them up, they were beautifully hemmed and the store associate asked me to go try them on. When going and picking them up, you'll need the ticket they gave you, or they can find your clothing based on the phone number you gave. Service: The service is so good! All the store associates are so kind and welcome you! Location: The store is a little difficult to locate, so come to the side of the complex with the front of the stores, and look for a small sign above that says "Better Fit Alterations". They open around 8:30-9 AM on weekdays. read more

I brought a brand new LL Bean Chore Coat for a sleeve shortening and asked if they could also shorten the length a bit. They said no problem they can do it without issue. When I picked up my jacket 2 weeks later, one of the bottom pockets now has stress marks that line up perfectly with some new stitching they added, and there are now smalls holes in the leather patch that also line up perfectly. The other pocket has no issues, so I presume some error occurred. I returned (waited a bit because they were busy trying to find a customers clothes and kept going back and forth with them) and when I questioned this - especially the patch holes, they stated that they must've already been there and i didnt notice. They said they did not touch it, and it's simply a coincidence that they line up and are spaced perfectly with the stress marks. They also mentioned the stress marks are from pressing, whatever that means. But the other pocket had no such marks. It became a he said she said game and I simply decided I will not be coming back, since they repeatedly told me they could do nothing for me. They also hemmed and let out some Momotaro Denim for me. This was mostly fine except the stitching was also a bit sloppy. They somehow stitched over a belt loop which was strange (so a belt wouldnt fit anymore), and there was a large loose thread on the inside. Maybe I'm being nitpicky but you can look at the pics and decide for yourself. I gave two stars since the fits are fine and the clothes are perfectly usable. But the work seems rushed and the customer service lacking. If I'm paying half in the cash value of brand new articles of clothing in tailoring services, I expect better service and clothes returned in the same condition or better than when I dropped them off. read more

I was very hopeful when I found this alterations shop; after all, they have great reviews. But unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. I brought in several pairs of pants to be hemmed, and the lengths were not done correctly. When I brought them back, I was told the mistake may have happened because of how I marked them, so I gave the shop an opportunity to fix the work. For the second attempt, they marked the pants themselves, but the hems were now inconsistent. All of the pants were supposed to be the same length, and they were not. At this point, I am not comfortable returning for a third attempt. I really wanted to support this local business, but based on the quality and consistency of the work I received, I will not be returning. I am now paying another alterations shop to correct the work I already paid to have done. read more

Update 2026 continued: This is why I absolutely love Sylvia and her seamstresses!! These jeans are definitely used, and Sylvia has repaired them several times by now. I recently had these snag on a door latch and tear a rather large hole in the side. My favorite flannel is only two years old and started to come apart on one of the button holes. Again, repaired perfectly!! Silvia's poor time management is frustrating to say the least. I've been going to Silvia since 2017 when she had her shop inside a market. When she opened her own place, my husband and I continued to support her for hemming and tapering but one thing that's remained consistent is her shitty time management skills. Clothes are rarely ready when promised. I've overheard countless other customers express the same frustration. If you're on a tight timeline or need something by a specific date, this is not the place to go. It's more of a drop-it-off-and-forget-about-it-for-a-few-weeks kind of place. I dropped off a dress for hemming which she had for a week. I showed up at the agreed pickup time, only to find she hadn't even started on it. What's the point of setting a pickup time if it's not going to be honored? This is actually my first time ever leaving a Yelp review, and I don't take doing this lightly. I really don't like putting down small businesses, which makes this even more disappointing. I brought in my dress for alterations for a very important event and spent over $200 to have several items tailored. When I went to pick it up, I was told that my dress had been given to another customer. This alone is unacceptable, but what made the situation even worse was how it was handled. When I raised the issue yesterday, the response I received was dismissive and lacked any real urgency, accountability, or effort to make things right. There was no clear plan to resolve the situation, no meaningful apology, and no reassurance that they were taking this seriously. What was especially frustrating was that when I called back to follow up, I was told, "Oh sorry, we've been with customers--we haven't even looked." Hearing that made it feel like my situation wasn't being treated as a priority at all, despite the seriousness of losing a customer's dress. Beyond the cost, there's also the stress and inconvenience of now not having my dress for an important event. I had previously recommended this business to friends, but after this experience, I can't do that in good conscience. Mistakes can happen, but how a business responds matters just as much--and in this case, the response fell far below expectations. I really hate doing this but my god. I brought in six pieces for mending and only 2 of them are at all even "fixed." They did a fine job with the slacks I brought in, but everything else? Jeans mended so poorly that my finger just pokes right through, embroidery and a satin skirt that were *supposed* to be repaired and look largely the same as before. I wish I had taken before pictures but honestly, there's not even that much of a difference. I've received better mending work from friends who did it for free. The kicker is, if they needed more time to do what I asked, they could've just said that. If they couldn't do what I asked, they could've just said that. I'm not on a time crunch, and good work takes time. Instead I was assured that my items would be ready in a week and was given this junk as a result. Granted, I should've looked over the garments when I picked them up (and you bet your ass I'm still beating myself up over that), but that doesn't excuse how bad this work is. I'm so disappointed, all the other reviews made this place seem like a great option. The only reason this isn't one star is because it's relatively cheap - which may or may not be the root of the problem... This place was recommended to me by my sisters friend who got her bridesmaid dress altered here at such reasonable prices and a good time frame! I finally came myself because I needed to get my scrubs altered and had to come multiple times because I couldn't leave them all at once (I needed them for work). I've been to their old location and the new one they just moved to 12/29/25 which is ever bigger and better than the previous location but still close by. I've gotten 2/3 scrub shirts done so far and I'm so happy overall with the quality of work and pricing. Paid her to sew 9 patches on a jacket. She took 10 days to do so; so she had time. Picked up my jacket; her shade of lipstick was on the sleeve. Fine, she semi cleaned it. I took it and got it dry cleaned after that before wearing it. Took it out today to wear it and noticed a patch lifting. She didn't sew this one. It was ironed on. I am so upset that I paid for this service. Now I will have to take it to my local cleaners to get sewn on properly this time, yet incurring even more costs. Shotty service at best. This place used to be decent but not anymore. Sylvia is incredibly rude now and will get irritated and condescending if you need additional alterations after trying the clothes on. It did not used to be like this. Also, the new staff they have hired have no idea what they are doing or how to measure. I have now had way too many pieces of clothing ruined from this place. i.e. sleeves SKINTIGHT (why?), pants slimmed only from the front half so that the pants look lopsided and rub against my thigh (why?), and other dresses/jumpsuits where I cannot breathe at all. Yet, when you try on the clothes and say they need additional alterations, Sylvia will roll her eyes and say "did you NOT try them on when you first came?" Yes, of course I tried them on, you guys measured wrong and did a poor job. Also, be prepared to wait and wait because Sylvia can never find the pieces and sometimes will have you come pick up when the pieces are not ready/ still have pins in them. I am so happy I came to Silvia, she was so great to work with and has the best prices in town (especially for the quality). I had the corset portion fitted, the straps, and the train removed from my dress, and I was so happy with the final product. Even for the last minute adjustments, Silvia was great and has great people working for her. After my wedding, I even went and brought another dress in. It really saddens me to write this review because a friend of mine suggested this place to be my regular tailor and I had gone 2 times before to hem some pants and they had done a great job. (I'm 5'2" so nothing ever fits off the rack and I was in the market to find a regular tailor and this would've fit the bill!) On my birthday, November 3rd, I received a Nordstrom gift card and wanted to treat myself/take off from work early so I went and found this super cute colorblock coat with a belt. I went straight from buying it at Nordstrom in Newport Beach to this shop to get the sleeves shortened so that I could wear it ASAP! As you can see from the time stamps, I was at Nordstrom and hadn't checked out yet at 3:37pm and then got to Better Fit to drop off. The second photo might be confusing but I had dropped off a pair of pants the previous day 11/2 and realized I should've checked if my pants were done but that was going to be ready the next day 11/4. From the time stamp I'm at Better Fit at 4:26pm. I literally came from Nordstrom straight to Better Fit. All this context/build up to say when I came in to pick up 2 weeks later on November 16th around 5:30pm after work, I was taken aback when I was getting rung up that the coat was missing a belt. I asked about it - as you can see from the pictures it came with a black belt with a buckle. The coat even still had the tags on. Someone else was ringing me up but Silvia from her work space in the back told me multiple times that the coat didn't come with a belt. I was feeling extremely uncomfortable because the shop was busy - I had waited about 10 minutes for the previous patrons and there were others in line behind me. I was as polite as I could be about how I had just bought the coat and definitely dropped it off with a belt. (I was so flustered I didn't realize I could've pulled up those pictures then and there.) It honestly would've been okay if Silvia had just said, I'm sorry there must've been a mix up and just left it at that. But I felt berated and gas lit for an uncomfortable few minutes with that audience. She did iterations of "it didn't come with a belt" in many ways. -That I didn't drop it off with a belt. -What service did we do for you? Shortened sleeve hems. Then we had no reason to touch the waist area. -Whenever we get an item with a belt/loose piece we put in the pocket and since there's nothing in the pocket you couldn't have brought it with a belt. Again, I don't really care if any of that was the case. As a customer, I was just asking a question - I didn't need a lecture. As a human too, I didn't need that at the end of my work day. I didn't even want a discount or anything, I was just shocked to have had that interaction. I swiftly paid with Venmo and then just wanted to extricate myself so I ended the interaction with, well if it turns up, let me know. To which I got the response that it wouldn't. I'm a huge yelper and I love supporting small business. Especially as a woman and POC myself. I hate writing bad reviews but this was truly awful and just straight up rude. The work done here is great and is super fast, well priced. I have to give credit where it's due. My Jeans hem from the photo was $5 and perfect. Shortening sleeves on a lined coat was $20. I had brought 2 pairs of wide leg trousers in prior, the hems for that were $8 each and perfect. In fact those are my favorite go-to pants now. I truly hope that was just an off experience after a long day. Especially as I had great experiences with Silvia and her staff all the previous times. I've worked retail/customer facing jobs, I was with Starbucks for 6 years to pay for college. People can be awful and from my own experience I never want to be THAT customer especially over something as small as a cup of coffee. I wish the exchange was more civil instead of defensive. They sound short staffed so who knows, maybe the holiday season is a high season for tailoring. I wanted to email this feedback to Silvia direct but couldn't find anything on the website. Very sloppy and careless work on my tuxedo jacket alteration. They did not quality check their work. My right sleeve was longer than the left sleeve after the alteration and had to take it back a 2nd time to have it fixed. It was still uneven after the 2nd fix. She then had the guts to tell me it was the shirt that I was wearing that made the tux sleeves uneven. Upon closer inspection, I turned the sleeves inside out, the stitching where they made the alterations was falling apart and done very poorly with gaps and loose threads everywhere. Also, the sleeve buttons on both sides were sewn back on very loosely, I had to request for her to resew them to make it more secure. I was very disappointed since this place has a high review on Yelp (fooled me). I was not going to bring it back here the 3rd time for more careless work. I decided to take it to a different Vietnamese tailor in my area to have it fixed (should have done that the 1st time). That tailor even said the work done on the tux jacket was very mediocre. My tailor had to re-open everything and re-stitch everything. 0 stars for Better Fit Alterations. read more
