Style Today was recommended by one of my favorite men's clothing stores. I bought a jacket and pants I really liked - but nobody makes a suit that fits me off the rack. The clothes were nice and I wanted to look my best. I gave Style Today a try and the work was just perfect. Since then I have probably gone back a dozen times mostly hemming pants and shortening jacket sleeves. During my visits I've noticed numerous men and women with all kinds of clothing getting fitted - and never heard a complaint. I'm picky about clothes. I'm not anywhere near fashionable or stylish. But I like what I wear to fit well. It's a lovely little shop. Tina the owner and the other tailors and seamstresses are all working right there. They are open Tuesday through Saturday. They do excellent work. I've never needed anything in a rush - but have heard other people needing work turned around overnight or within a day and it sounds like they do their best to deliver. Oh - and Tina has a great eye: where sleeves should fall. Pants should be hemmed. Trust her judgement. I don't have the best eye for color and she helps me know what color shirts to buy. Sometimes I wish I could just take her shopping with me so I could pick out the best fits and fabrics and styles for her to make comfortable and attractive right from the beginning. Last time there was a customer wanting a total reworking of a jacket she had owned for several years and I watched as Tina explained what to do with the length, the sleeves, the width at shoulders and the tummy. As she explained it you could almost see the redesigned jacket taking form - and you knew it was going to look exciting and new. Wish I could be there to see when she picks it up. Try Style Today. We went here to get my mom's pants altered and experienced great customer service. The lady that helped us took her time to properly take my mom's measures and make sure they would fit perfectly. When we said we needed the pants by a certain date, they made an effort and met our deadline even with the amount of work they had. I wish my husband never brought his $1000 Armani suit jacket to this tailor before our wedding. He was pressed for time, and I should have gone with him, but this is what happened: My husband has a narrow waist, but broad shoulders. Therefore, he brought the suit in to slightly let out the shoulders and take in the waste. What ensued was the worst puckering/stretching of the suit and a very cinched waist. He had to go back to the tailor three times because with each fitting, the jacket became worse. Even the tailor saw how horrible it was because she kept insisting to keep it for a little more adjustment. He ended up paying $100 for her to butcher his nice jacket and also did a very lackluster job on his Armani pants! All my wedding pictures that show my husband's back shows just how horribly this tailor works. My grandma could have hand sewn everything much better than this person butchered his suit. Seeing the wedding photos, I almost feel like this tailor shop should give us our money back for ruining an expensive Armani suit. read more

I came here 2 or 3 times to get pants altered, and had pretty decent results. The first time was just for hem because they came in a "standard" length which didn't really work for me. Brought in my item which was too long (and shoes - a must) and they marked what should be the right length. 3 days and $12 later I had my jeans back and they fit nice. Too good to be true? Maybe. Went back about a month later because I needed one of my suit pants taken in. I said I needed the pants by Friday morning (a day and a half later) and could they do it. The lady said yes and I put them on and she pinned it. The pants were an inch and a half too big, which meant the legs and seat were also slightly baggy too, and she asked me if I wanted to fix this as well. I said yes, since I felt silly just having the waist and nothing else taken in on a pair of pants that are one size too big, but that's how they tend to come off the rack. It's routine to take them in, but you can't really let them out as much. Anyway she pinned the leg and checked the length and wrote it up and gave me a price which seemed high and I couldn't believe it, but I really really needed them for an interview and was eager for them to get it done. Went back at the agreed time and she showed me the pants and tried them on, and they fit good. Went back to the counter to pay and I finally asked about the elephant in the room, $55 are you sure that's right? ? Mentioning also that I usually just pay $12 for hems. She attempted to explain the charges as it was clear it should've been $50 max (which is still high) but she wouldn't budge on the price, even for a repeat customer paying cash. I had a total Seinfeld "The Restaurant" moment!! Even mentioned it was for a job interview. Hello, I don't have money - no job!! need one! And she just smiled and said good luck... The work is good and timetables are pretty fair, but beware of the price. If it's anything but a standard hem, they're probably going to charge you an arm and a leg, no pun intended. But at least my suit pants fit nice. The problem is I won't be going back again anytime soon unless it's a quick hem. Style Today has always helped me out of every jam, even on super short notice. It's clean and neat inside. Best part is I am always welcomed with a joyful greeting and attended to right away. I came here the Saturday before New Year's Eve the LAST day they were open. I was in a hurry as I had just come back to OC from visiting family out of town and needed a pair of work pants and a skirt fitted asap. I've been coming here for years. As a petite gal, I often need alterations to make things fit just right. Tina has done a variety of tailoring jobs for me such as shortening arm hole gaps, taking in dresses at the waist (which she tapered from the chest to make it look natural) and hemming formal bridesmaid gowns with multiple layers of fabric and adding a bustle -- all of which came out perfectly. I'm always amazed at what a difference the alterations make and how skillful she is. Tina also has such a kind and warm personality. I always look forward to coming in and seeing her. I brought in a long dress I bought years ago and have it shortened. I need to wear it to a wedding. The material is a hard one to deal with. I won't even try to do it myself but she did a great job with it. I am happy with the work. I am glad since I don't have to shop for a new dress but convert old long dresses to short ones. Short ones are in style now. The price is reasonable. I haven't tried any other alteration yet. I have to keep this place in mind for any future alteration. She accepts personal check and cash. This is the BEST alterations place ever. I used to bring all my clothes here all the time when I was living in SoCal. I live in Seattle but this place is so amazing that sometimes I will even wait to have my clothes altered when I go home to San Diego to visit my family. I know, I don't even live in Tustin, but I will drive up to have my clothes altered here. That's right, I store up all of my alterations need, fly down to San Diego and then drive up to Tustin to have my clothes fixed. The tailor is always so accommodating with my flight schedules as well and she puts in a rush for me and is so sweet and kind about it. I can't rave enough about this place . The tailor, Tina, is amazing, so nice, and I love her so much. I'm in serious debt to her because she saved me from a wedding emergency. I was a bridesmaid for a wedding in the OC, and when my bridesmaid dress came in one was too big and the other too small. I knew there was no time to get it done up in Seattle, so I called her up and asked if she could rush it for me. I would be flying to OC/LA area the next day (a Wednesday night) and the wedding was on Saturday. She told me no problem, to come in early Thursday morning and she'd rush it for me and have it done for me the next day for a fitting and if it needed more work she could finish it up Friday evening. AMAZING! Seriously, I wish I lived in SoCal again because being short, my alterations needs are plenty and I can always count on Tina on getting things done for me. read more

I've been taking my clothes to Tina for easily 15 years, starting back when she was located at Newport Ave & Irvine Blvd. (Love her new shop in Larwin Square!) She has altered my formal gowns, jeans, skirts, casual tops, & everything in-between. She has handled millions of simple hems, darts, etc. for me, but has also done more intricate, complicated work, like shortening a too-long flared skirt by lowering the waistband & taking out fabric at the top (instead of hemming from the bottom, which would ruin the shape). She did a great job on the bf's suits & tux, too. I am confident in her understanding of how clothes should fit & trust her expertise...but she also listens to what I want if my opinion differs from hers. She gets busy, but tries to be as flexible as possible on return times for vacations or special events, which I really appreciate. Always friendly & kind. I have been spoiled by my family members because everyone did alterations for me. I moved to Tustin not long ago and I purchased some dresses, but need alterations on the upper body. I yelped and came across Style Today Tailoring and it was not too far. I had a little trouble finding this place because it is inside a shopping center and I can't really see it from the streets. I brought in my dresses and she has two small changing rooms, for you to try on your clothing for her. I tried on both dresses and the lady knew exactly what to do to make the dresses fit my body better. I asked her how much it would cost and she quoted me $60 to do alterations on both dresses. The pricing is okay, but if their work is really good then okay. She said I could pick up my dresses in a week. I have a few more dresses that need alterations. I went again on Tuesday and brought in my Chinese qi pao to be let out. She said I would need an inch or so to be let out. I also tried on the dresses that she had altered and the results were amazing! The ladies really know what they are doing. The dresses fit like they were made for my body!! I am super happy with the outcome. My Chinese qi pao has more intricate details with the beading and stuff, so I can't wait to see how it turns out. Tina is a truly a talented tailor!!!! Just picked up a pair of jeans that were messed up by another alterations place near my house in Irvine...can't even say that they are tailors...that would be a compliment. Anyways, my jeans were tailored so EXPERTLY and BEAUTIFULLY that I had to wear them out because I felt so good wearing them!! Highlight of my day!! I dropped off an old pair of Paige jeans that I bought at Nordstrom for over $200 when the brand first came out. They were slightly flared and originally hemmed at Dr. Blue Jeanns in Sherman Oaks (fab place that's been around forever) after I bought them. Over the years, I rarely wore them because I had to wear them with heels. They are such awesome jeans that I wanted to have them hemmed again so that I could wear them every day with a pair of flip flops or sneakers. I had Tina keep the original hem and taper the legs for a more current look. She laboriously took out the botched "original hem" job that was done at the other place and hemmed them perfectly!! Her true artistry is exhibited in how she tailored the sides of the jeans to look like they've been designed and manufactured to look that way. It's like when your home remodeling stays true to the existing architecture and flow of the house. Not cheap. $47. However, you're paying for the craftsmanship. See pictures. read more

So, I've been dropping off my pants here for a while to get hemmed (short people problems). I like this place, they're nice, not too pricey, reasonable time frame. I had these one pair of pants that were hemmed unevenly and it always bothered me, but I knew they were a hard material to work with, so I let it slide. But recently I was folding some of my pants and realized that I had SEVERAL pair of pants that were hemmed unevenly. I'd gone to the same tailor twice (both times, the alterations weren't satisfactory or as discussed) to alter a pair of pants before going to Style Today Tailoring. First of all, I love that you can walk in any time during business hours, which is really convenient. When I stepped into the shop, the lady greeted me warmly and asked me to change into my pants and stand on the steps in front of the mirror. She was done assessing the alteration literally within a minute. I was able to pick up my pants the very next day, and I was so relieved that they turned out just as I'd imagined. When I brought the pants in, they were overly baggy, overly long, and overall pretty unflattering. But she worked her magic, and now they look awesome and fit so nicely. The tailor obviously knows what she's doing, plus she's really nice and friendly. The total price was $28 for both tapering and hemming, which I think is pretty fair. I left her shop a newly loyal customer, and I definitely recommend going here for alterations. read more

I was not impressed. I took my alterations here expecting to be wowed based on the other reviews. I was sub-wowed. I had a pile of things to mend: 3 pairs of pants to be hemmed, 3 dresses to be shortened, and two dresses to be taken in at the sides. The hemming/shortening went as planned, nothing special. One of the dresses was to be taken in and shortened. It was not shortened enough; she left it longer than where she had measured it in the shop. In addition, the sides were not taken in as they had been measured in the shop. I am disappointed. The other dress turned out alright, again not impressed. I will probably take the 1st dress back and ask for her to fix it free of charge. I would probably not go back again. read more

Amazing service. We came here after reading other really good reviews here on yelp. I needed my prom dress altered a few days before the big event, and they made sure it was done in time, but not rushed-looking work. They made sure that I liked how it was going to turn out, and we're very professional. I believe it was $35 to hem the bottom of my dress. So reasonable too!
